Arizona's body was lying, lifeless in the ICU. She was intubated and the noises of the machines that were helping her heal were already getting on Callie's nerves.

She was waiting for Derek nervously, not knowing if the surgery had been a success or not. Owen was checking everything to be sure his friend was not in pain. He was also waiting for Derek, but it was Jo Wilson who arrived first.

« I called the number you told me Dr Hunt, and they told me Timothy Robbins died in the field 2 years ago. They gave me his parent's number, that's all they could give me. » the younger surgeon explained as Callie gasped in shock.
Timothy was dead. Tim, Arizona's rock, her best friend, her beloved brother died.
She had met him several times and she loved him. Arizona and him were quite a duo and their parents were also very good people. They had welcomed Callie into their family and considered her as their own daughter the minute they had met.

Her parents! Someone had to call them! They might help her understand what was happening.

« Thank you Wilson, I'm going to call them. » Hunt say as he stepped outside and walked to the nurses station.

Callie was frozen, leaning against the wall in the corner of the room. She felt a wave of nausea running through her body and walked outside the room as fast as she could to throw up in the nearest trash can.

« You okay Torres? » Derek approached her quietly, helping her walk back to the blonde's room.

He made her sit on a chair and let her compose herself.

« Is she okay Derek? Please tell me she's okay... » Callie begged.

« We stopped the bleeding in time. But it was a severe concussion, she lost a lot of blood. It's possible she might have another bleed. The next 24 hours are going to be crucial. She needs to rest, that's obvious. » Derek explained. « She's in rough shape, but she's a fighter. We are going to take very good care of her. Everybody still loves her here. »

Callie nodded sadly, knowing what her friend said was true. Even 5 years after she left, a lot of her former co-workers still remember her smile and her perkiness.

Owen entered the room, with a concerned expression on his face.

« Did you call her parents? Are they on their way? Oh my god, they are going to freak out. And they had already lost their son... » Callie ranted. « I should have called them sometimes even if we were broken up. They were like my family... »

« Callie... I called the number Wilson gave me. It was a nursing home. » Owen explained. « Arizona's father has Alzheimer, he's totally dependent. He needs assistance to do even everyday functions. He's not talking a lot, and he surely doesn't remember his daughter... »

« Oh my god...Poor Barbara, it's not possible... Did you get her number? I'm going to call her. » Callie said in shock.

« Arizona's mother died 4 years ago from breast cancer. »

« No... No... » Callie repeated, standing up from her seat. « It's not possible... »

« What happened to your eye? » Stella asked.

Arizona looked shamefully at the floor, not knowing what to answer.

« We were being childish the other day, and we were playing in the pool and I accidentally turned too fast and my elbow crashed into her eye ! » Jamie lied « Can you believe it, so stupid, Right Ari? »

« Yeah, so stupid. » Arizona replied.

Stella looked between the two women and didn't really know what was going on. The atmosphere was tense, and Arizona was really quiet, which was not unusual but it was more than the other times she had met her.

« So, how's Tim doing out there? » Jamie asked. « We haven't had any news since he arrived in Afghanistan. »

« He is doing okay. It's hard but he's saying he will be back before the baby's birth. » the young woman explained, rubbing her pregnant belly.

« That's fantastic. » Arizona smiled widely.

« That's so unfortunate we won't be there. » Jamie suddenly said.

« What? » Stella asked. « You told me you'll be around the other day Arizona! »

« It's because she didn't know. » Jamie lied again. « I signed a new contract and we are moving to England! How exciting, right Honey? »

….

Miranda Bailey was waiting in the lounge for the social worker who would take over Matthew's case.
The toddler needed to stay in the hospital for a few more days, but she wanted to be sure everything would be done for the little boy.

She was sitting next to Callie who had told her everything she had heard from Owen, and she was still in shock.

« GO home Torres. I'll handle everything and I'll call you if anything happens don't worry. » Miranda ordered her friend.

« I can't Bailey... I'm so lost here... »Callie tried to explain.

« You have a daughter to take care of. » Miranda insisted. « GO home, have some rest. »

At that same moment, Amelia Shepperd entered the lounge, and joined the two friends.

« How is the little boy doing? » She asked.

« He's going to be okay. » Miranda quickly explained.

Amelia sighed as she sat on the golden-brown couch.

« It's a miracle she made it » She confessed. « She's in rough shape tough, and she had been for a long time apparently. »

Bailey and Callie raised her gaze and looked at each other.

« What are you talking about? » the ortho surgeon asked.

« Her body is covered in bruises, marks, burns... It's awful. Amelia explained. « And they were not all caused by the accident. They were done before she was knocked down. »

Both women gasped, not wanting what they were hearing to be the truth.

« She had been molested for a month, or more. » Amelia sadly explained.

….

« I have to be here for my nephew's birth Jamie, please! I can join you later. You'll be busy training your new team anyway. » Arizona carefully tried to change her girlfriend's mind.

« No... You know I don't like it when you're not with me baby, right... » Jamie said, as she stepped behind the blonde, grabbing her waist and beginning to rub her breasts.

« It will only be a few days. Please... You know it's important for me. » Arizona begged, disgusted by the hands that were touching her body.

« No way... I want you with me. And also... I want you now... » Jamie said in the blonde's ear, biting her hard before making Arizona turn to face her.

« Please Jamie. I won't ask anything more, I promise... » Arizona begged again.

« I already heard that song Ari... Remember when your mother passed away and I let you go to the funeral? You told me it would take you three days at most, and guess what? Five days later, I had to go and get you and take you back with me. » Jamie sarcastically remembered, but continued to kiss the blonde neck.

« I swear Jamie, please ... »

Suddenly the taller woman couldn't stand her lover pleading anymore. She grabbed Arizona's hair roughly.

« I said NO! Don't make me mad Ari... I just want you to shut up and let me fuck you! »

She threw Arizona on the hard cold ground and licked her lips, savouring the fear she saw in her eyes. She straddled her hips and looked at the blonde for a moment, before slapping her.

The blonde moaned in pain, her lips bleeding from the roughness of the slap.

« See you know you like it baby, so come on... Be a good girl... »

….

Callie left the lounge, unable to take anymore terrible news about her former girlfriends' life.
Miranda followed her. She knew Callie was losing it and she wanted to be here for her friend.

« What is happening Bailey ? » She mumbled. « Why? How ? »

« Breathe for me Torres. Calm down... You need to calm down. » Miranda insisted as Callie followed her lead and tried to cool down.

« We are going to have to wait for Arizona to wake up, and we will be here for her, whatever she needs, whatever happened to her. Okay? We have a hospital full of people who care about her. » Miranda calmly said. « But first you are going to go home to your daughter, you will spend time with her, you'll take a shower and rest for a few hours. And that's not negotiable. »

Callie nodded; She knew Bailey was right, but she was still trying to process all the information she had concerning the blonde she used to love.

« And me, I'm going to ask the social worker if I can foster that little boy of hers. » Bailey informed her. « That baby Robbins is not going to sleep in a stranger's home I can assure you! »
