"I don't like this."
A deep weary sigh followed the statement. "I know you don't mi amor. Neither do I but Peter has never led us wrong, nor has Antonio. It must be done. It is the only way to truly be free and take revenge for all we have lost."
Dark red eyes closed briefly before turning towards the horizon. It would be their last sunrise together and though they had made love for the last time till their plan was done, it still broke his heart about what was to come. "But why us?"
"Because it can only be us. We are the only two that can make this happen."
Frustration rolled across him like waves, causing the hand upon his chest to stop moving. "I still do not know why we cannot just go now and rid ourselves of the problem. It is not like we do not have the power to do so."
"Again, it is because things must come to pass. If we strike now, then we will be eradicated in turn. We will never be free; revenge will come for us in the many for what would be seen as an unjust killing." The anger washing back was to be expected, so was the sadness and it tore at him more. "I do not wish to be parted from you mi amor, not even for a second but we must."
The moment the sun hit them; thousands of rainbows scattered across the desert. The only thing of beauty that their scarred forms created. Letting his eyes close to savour the moment before a deep unneeded sigh escaped his frozen lungs. "It is time."
"I know," she whispered as she stood, wrapping her clothes back around her, hand resting on the fresh mating bite. "Peter?"
Peter jerked at being addressed. "Yes ma'am?"
Dark red eyes peered at him, "Look after him."
"Of course, I will." He replied with seriousness. "With my life."
A small breeze picked up sending several strands of hair to wisp around her, the sun haloing her like the angel she was. "Mi amor, I will see you again when the snow falls."
In a blink she was gone, leaving him standing with his captain at his side and the sound of raging newborns at his back. But that was just white noise to the sound of his heart-shattering, rage like any other consumed him at the unfairness of it all. He spent decades in this hell, decades making sure his small selection of family survived his bitch of a maker and when he finally gets an ounce of joy, life turns around and shits on him – them – as his mate and his brothers' gifts caused them to see something that would destroy everything.
A plan was made.
Peter escaped with his mate leaving him and his stuck in hell and now just her.
"She won't be here long Major," Peter whispered, his hand resting upon his shoulder. "We need to go. Now."
A scream echoed the desert, louder than the chaos of newborns and war. One that was familiar and sent a shockwave after them as they ran, it took everything within the Major to not turn around, nor did he want to as he saw the reflection in his brothers' dark eyes when he gazed back. His mate was powerful, and he had seen that gift used close to hand, it took a lot out of her but fuck… the damage it caused. There will be nothing left but a crater.
He pushed himself forward, watched the sky change from golden hues of day to the dark blues and blacks of the night. Only when they were finally safe did he stop and scream, he poured out the entirety of his feelings in that one scream, his hands digging into the stone beneath him as his brother watched in a crippling mess thanks to his gift.
"This better be worth it." He gritted out through clenched teeth; he didn't even have the satisfaction of his voice cracking from the power of his agony. "How long must I wait for this plan to truly start?"
"Ten years," Peter stated. "You'll meet that bitch in ten years and then... I am unsure. My gift won't say, and I can tell beyond what we already know."
Standing up Jasper rolled his shoulders a d nodded, turning his head back the way, they just came from and locked every memory of his mate and the plan securely behind the door, safe.
Ten years, God why did he have to be separated from her now? Why not in nine years?
Ah, he knew the reason he just hated it. She had her own role to play, her journey was much tougher than his.

Peter took a deep breath and cast a worried look to his mate. It had been a very long decade since they left, Jasper's emotions spiraling between agony, fury, and starvation. Yet he knew all this pain was worth it in the end, it had to be… it better be.
"Do you want me to go with you?" Charlotte asked knowing he would say no but Peter appreciated the sentiment.
With a shake of his head, he made his way up the stairs, knocking on his maker's study door lightly. Already Peter could smell the oncoming rain, the massive thunderstorm was due in less than a day and it was the beginning of the end.
"It's time?" the Major asks as he stares out the window, arms clasped behind his back as he stood in a parade rest.
"Yes, you have several hours yet for the storm then you need to make your way to Philadelphia to meet that goat-belching pixie." Peter reported knowing better than to dally.
Dark eyes turned towards his Captain, "When will I see you next?"
"In a few years, we will devise a 'slip' so to speak, unfortunately, the animal diet is hard to stick to. When that happens, you'll come here, of course, Char and I will come and see you." Peter replied, spitting out the animal with the disgust he truly felt of that.
Jasper scrunched his nose as he remembered the taste of deer. When Antonio first had his vision that started off this plan, they all decided to try this refined diet and they all spent the night dry heaving and drinking their fill of humans to get rid of that taste. It was like hair, decaying flesh and vomit had a child with shit and dirt. Unfortunately for him, he drew the short straw in life, and he must suffer for his crimes by joining this coven that solely drunk from vermin.
"You know if I start to go mad like them. Please, put me out of my misery." Jasper replied after a moment, earning a snort from his brother.
"If you think for even a moment that I would get within reach of you to do so, then it's already too late, you've gone mad." He replied amused.
A fond sad smile twitched at Jasper's lips as he turned to gaze back out the window. "Mmm yes, but it's time. Goodbye, brother."
Within a blink, he was gone and already running towards the beginning of his hell. He could feel the Major rattling its cage below, roaring with a fury that hadn't been felt in a very long time the further he got away from his mate but many things had to come before that. So many things. He may be a monster but there were others out there that were worse than he and oh, oh their day is coming. Not soon but it will.

The diner was exactly how Antonio sketched it, even down to the rusted dent in the corner by the stairs. The storm overhead kept his footsteps and movements concealed from the vampire in the diner, but it did not hinder his gift or his sight. She was small, her hair styled in a way that didn't suit the year and though she spoke with sweetness to the waitress her emotions were much darker.
A true wolf in sheep's clothing.
With a deep breath he let his eyes darken and the facade he had been building to shift over him. With practiced ease he made his way inside, shaking the water drops from his hair as he eyed the place, by place he meant the people in which he could dine upon if desired but made it look like he was finding a seat.
In a blink, the vampire stood and sashayed her way over with a lecherous grin. Smoother than a human and faster than one as well, she was still new to this life. Oh, not a newborn by any means but she was still young.
"You kept me waiting long enough." She purred, her voice like the tearing of vampiric flesh to his ears.
He dipped his head and forced a smile on his face, letting the emotion flow out of him. "I'm sorry, ma'am."
Impossibly so, her grin seemed to grow wider that it reminded Jasper of the crocodiles he had seen on a trip gathering humans long ago. "My name's Alice and I've been looking for you for a long time."
Swallowing the venom pooling in his throat he took her hand in his and brought it to her lips. "Pleasure to meet you, Alice, my name is Jasper, Jasper Whitlock."
Placing a kiss upon her hand felt like the final nail in his coffin, it was going to be a long century.

Years had passed, many long torturous years where he was stuck with the Cullens, thankfully every 10 or 15 years he had managed to break apart after a 'slip' and managed to get a break away from their psychotic cult-like mentality to freedom.
Peter and Charlotte were the only reasons he was sane still, he was sure of it. Though, the day his bond seemed to vanish completely, the small tether in the back of his head that was his Mate… He went on a killing spree for days… nearly foiling their plans if it wasn't for Antonio removing his head at just the right moment.
"Brother." Peter drawled as he and Charlotte stepped out of the tree line, eyeing the house with a critical eye.
Amusement.
Disgust.
Horror.
Impatience.
The emotions rolled off both as they took in the large three-story home completely made of windows.
"When I said see you soon, I did not think of a mere two years." Peter chuckled, continuing the ruse, his dark red eyes flickering to the left where Jasper could feel Edwards's frustration. "The wife and I were looking forward to our annual Mardi gras."
A smirk of his own tugged at Jaspers lips at that. Edward hated when his 'old' coven came as he could not read them much like he could not read past what Jasper wanted him to see.
"Thank you for coming though, you know I wouldn't call you if it wasn't dire." He sighed, putting on the fake worry as he led them inside where the others were waiting. "Peter, Charlotte, meet Edwards Mate, Angela, their daughter Judith and her friend Jacob."
Curiousness
Savage glee
Thirst. Disgust.
Excitement.
Peter's emotions matched his mates as they eyed the human girl, they already knew about decades ago but smiled in polite greeting, nevertheless. "Pleasure."
Over a few hours more and more covens arrived, some very familiar with him and his clan. Some not so much. Each taking their time with the newborn and the child, each either sending looks of disgust to the wolf or looks of
"Major," a twang greeting followed which had Jasper snapping his head around to the older-looking vampire.
"Charlie, I didn't know you were coming." Jasper's eyes slid over to Peter and Char who looked just as bewildered as him. Charlie was a newborn his Mate had changed long ago, and was very loyal.
A soft feminine voice called out next, the woman stepping out from behind him. "That would be my doing. Rosalie and Emmett found us after Randall pointed the way. I didn't know you two knew each other."
Charlotte grinned wide as she dashed to Jasper's side. "Mary, ya didn't tell us ya mate's name Sug', Charlie and us go way back, Maria back. How'd ya meet?"
"Antonio kicked my behind out the door, told me to run until the sun shines upon the green fairy. I thought he lost the plot, but I ended up in Reno when the sun rose and ducked into a bar, there she was." Charlie stated with a wide smile, besotted. Both were. All three of the soldiers couldn't help but smile and bask in their joy. "I am glad that we are here, though the circumstances are… not ideal."
Jasper felt the frustration from Edward double and decided. "Come, we need to run the perimeter, I don't trust the wolves to do it themselves. You know how I am."
The others nodded, Charlie, placing a kiss on his mate's lips sending a pang in Jasper's chest as he dashed away. He kept running till the sound of the house and the wolves vanished, leaving him and the other three alone for the first time.
Charlie dropped all pretense. "So it's time then," he chuckled, a bright venom-filled smile glinting under his mustache. "We will all be free then."
"Aye, only two more days to go and then Retribution. Garrett and Randall have been keeping their ears on the ground for us. More and more talented newborns from clans have been taken, the Kyrgyzstan Coven, Toshiri, the Welsh, and several nomads in Europe are gone." Peter replied, his red eyes darkening. "Henri… Henri joined their witnesses… They have Yevette."
Fury swept through them all causing Jasper to stagger, the Major rattling furiously at the cage door… soon, his mind whispered, soothing the beast for now.
"Major you good?" Charlotte asked concerned.
Closing his eyes and taking a deep breath, he nodded. "The Major has been itching for years to be freed. That fucking Pixie has nearly died more than I can care to count since day one. It's bad enough I have to bed her, but it's worse when I cannot recall my mate's face doing so."
"It'll be over soon Major." The soft whispered voice of Antonio came from the darkness, shocking them. His twin sister silently trailed behind him, her own red eyes vibrant and gleeful.
"Jesus' man, we told you many times not to sneak up on us." Charlie gasped out, holding his hand up to silence Antonio before he could speak. "Using your sister is cheating."
Antonio shrugged with a sheepish smile and Jasper got a good look at him, it had been many years since Jasper was able to see the Italian vampire. In fact, the last time he had seen him was when they fled. His dark hair was short now, almost crew cut, and it highlighted the old claw mark scars that ran across his face. Though Jasper's eyes zeroed in on the large chunk of flesh that was new, it also explained why he didn't speak above a whisper.
"What happened?" He demanded, stepping closer to him with his heart clenching.
"That bitch 'seer' of yours came calling to Maria, to make a deal. Maria was not too please and when your mate caught wind of her I had to step in before she killed her and set fire to her head in the middle of the distillery." Antonio explained, his hand going up to cup the scar. "It's taking a while to heal but if I didn't stop her then the Volturi will think that Bia still lived and ruin our plans."
Jasper went to open his mouth to demand more but both Peter and Antonio snapped their heads around to the west where the house was. "What is it?"
"We need to get back," Peter muttered. "Now."
"Go, take Matilde… no. No, go back now. My being here is all you need to know." Antonio stated and within a blink, he and Matilde were gone.
Charlotte clicks her tongue. "Her gift of vanishing is frightening."
"Come we need to get back. Carlisle and Esme are back with Alistair." Peter replied, earning a snort from all of them.
"Found him then?" Charlie hummed.
Peter cast a glance at Charlie as they ran back. "Something like that."
When they got back Alistair was snarling, his whole demeanor enraged as Carlisle held him. Jasper tried with all his might to counteract Carlisle's gift of persuasion, but the vampire has had 300 years of practice and even Jasper couldn't counteract the full measure of the gift.
"What's going on here?" Jasper demanded as he stepped out into the backyard. Carlisle let go of Alistair who slumped to the ground in relief.
"Nothing Son, Alistair tried to attack Seth who was phased, and I was trying to calm him down. All is well, is the perimeter good?" The lie slid off easily from Carlisle's tongue and Jasper oh so wanted to rip it out as he cast a look at a disbelieved Alistair to a smiling 'coven leader'.
Biting his tongue, he allowed the man to believe his gift worked. "Yes, we ran a perimeter, no new scents."
"Excellent! Now, let's head inside and prepare. Edward wishes to speak with everyone." Carlisle explained, 'helping' Alistair to his feet and leading them all inside, completely missing the glares from all four soldiers, but Alistair didn't.
R
The Whitlock coven grinned as they stripped down, shaking their limbs to loosen up and laughed. Jasper could feel the horror and disgust from the Cullen's beside Rosalie and Emmett as they watched on and ignored them.
"Must you all be shirtless?" Edward asked in disgust as he turned his daughter and wife's eyes away from them.
"You wanted something to pause the Volturi till Alice got back. Nothing will stop them more than the three of us shirtless and Charlotte showing her own scars." Jasper tossed back at him over his shoulder.
Though I'm more aiming for the lust my mate will feel when she sees me… fuck I miss her lips on me.
Excitement rose within Jasper as the first trickle of emotions from the Volturi hit him, his eyes scanning the slightly misty field and grinned wider, showing far too many teeth. Many of the covens around him shifted nervously, many here thanks to Carlisle and were still questioning why some here under loyalty and the Denali's who were after their sister.
"The redcoats are coming! The redcoats are coming!" Garrett chuckled as he bounced on the balls of his feet, earning a few chuckles.
Suddenly Aro and his army become visible, their force much larger than their own. Jasper could see many covens he had come across in his life with the Cullen's and before them. Fuck, even the wives came. Wolf howls rent the air, pausing the Volturi momentarily as the pack joined them.
"Aro, Let us discuss things as we used to. In a civilized manner." Carlisle pleads while walking forward.
Aro hummed as he eyed the vampires before him. "Fair words, Carlisle. But a little out of place, given the battalion you've assembled against us."
"I can promise you, that was never my intent. No laws have been broken." Carlisle replied, eyeing the Volturi and hoping for Alice to arrive soon with more help.
Caius snarled viciously as he takes a step forward. "We see the child. Do not treat us as fools!"
Jasper stood straighter as the first white crystal fleck of snowfall caught his eye, his head following the soft little flake and catching the eyes of his Coven. All of them began to move back slowly, without drawing the attention of the Volturi while the leaders were occupied with the child. He didn't even care when Alice showed.
Mi amor, I will see you again when the snow falls…
Unnatural fog inched its way across the battlefield, stilling both sides and drawing a demented smile from Alice as she giggled and pranced. "Oh, I didn't come alone."
The sound of footsteps, dozens, and dozens of them could be heard in the fog. Dark cackling, familiar, laughter mixed in with haunting screams. Fear rolled off nearly everyone in waves, something Jasper took sweet advantage of and heightened the experience.
"What is the meaning of this!?" Aro demanded as his eyes flickered between Alice and the fog.
"Your time has come Aro, you should have given me what I wanted long ago and now I have the coven and the army to take it." Alice giggled as she pranced over to Carlisle who looked just as smug.
Silence seemed to rein upon them all as two figures stepped out of the mist and eyed everyone. Maria was just as stunning as when he last saw her, black hair pulled up into curls and red eyes glinting with mirth… but it was the hooded figure that Jasper was mainly focused on.
Following them were the newborns and the rest of the soldiers, all of them crazed and showing off their scars.
"You brought Maria with you, impossible! She was dead!" Caius spat incredulously. "we made sure of it!"
Maria laughed as Antonio and Matilde withdrew themselves from the Volturi guard, letting their cloaks drop and taking their place beside Maria with wide smiles.
"Ah, but you took the word of a guard, the very guard who is my mate." Maria purred pleased. "He and his sister have been keeping an eye on you."
Her dark eyes scanned the field and locked onto the Major for a moment and moved towards those forced to serve with the Volturi. "For those of you who have been forced to serve these usurpers and tyrants are free. The binding has been cut. Join us to see their end."
Aro in a panic looked towards Chelsea who was staring at him in panic as many of the guards threw their cloaks on the ground and rushed towards the army, many leaving entirely.
"Jasper do something!" Alice screeched as panic began to seep within her core, eyes distant.
Laughter filled the air from the hooded figure, rich and smooth. "Oh sweet child, my mate will do nothing. You thought that we come to aid you in your rule of this world, but alas no. Our king wants Retribution, our people want retribution, and I… I just want your head on a fucking platter."
Alice's face blanched as she snapped out of the vision. "Who… who are you?"
The figure reached up with one scarred pale hand and tossed the hood back, a predator smile pulling at blood-red lips and the blackest eyes one would class as staring into your soul alight with glee. "Bia, Goddess of Power, the mate of Ares God of War."
With that, the world turned into chaos.
Jasper thrived with it.
R
The fight seemed to last both an eternity and a blink of an eye, the field was a battlefield. Pyres burning, body parts scattered across the snowy hole puckered field. Alice's head held firmly in Jasper's hand while Carlisle's was in his makers.
"Mi amor, I've missed you."
"Bella," Jasper breathed out as he took in his mate like a blind man seeing the world for the first time. "Darlin' it's so good to see you again."
Their mating bond had snapped back into place the moment she dropped her hood, her power over them all dropping away and oh god did it feel like home. Bella grinned as she stepped into her mates' awaiting arms and pulled him in for a deep passionate kiss.
"Retribution has been paid, we're finally free." She whispered while pulling away.
Jasper sighed and pressed his forehead against hers. "That it has, what shall we do now?"
"Ah mi amor, anything we like. I vote we disappear to an island for a very long time and reacquaint." Bella purred while nipping at her mate's throat with desire.
"Now now, I know it's been decades but business first." Maria pushed in, eyeing her two coven mates with a cocked brow. "We burning or burying?"
"They'll be good mantlepieces." Bella replied blandly as she eyed the head of Alice, smirking wide at whatever was heard. "Oh no child, there is nothing you have that I want… your gift useless with myself, Peter and Antonio… your body gone! Oops. Money is no value to us."
"Who is going to lead us?" One of those that Carlisle gathered asked.
"I am… It is time I return to my coven." Marcus whispered as he took a step out from behind the guards that Bella placed on him. "Didyme has waited long enough because of her brother."
Athenodora stepped forward with a snort and intertwined her fingers with the kings. "Yes, our sweet Mate has endured much, suffered a fate near worse than death after the attack but we with the help of my brothers were able to get her in time… unfortunately Chelsea bound Marcus too tight."
Truthfully Jasper turned out what was being said as he felt his Mate's lips upon his neck once more, teeth gently nibbling on his flesh. "Sorry, got to go." He uttered out before picking up his mate and dashing away.
The king can wait, his mate cannot.
Bella let out a giggle as Jasper ripped the clothes from them both and sheathed himself inside of her in one fell swoop.
"God I missed being inside of you." He growled, earning a moan of pleasure from his mate.
"And I missed you, now fuck me and then make love to me," Bella demanded, earning a pleased growl.
"As you wish Darlin' as you wish."
