"I still can't believe what those Efrafans did to Holly. That's horrible." Dandelion says as he is sitting with Alexis watching Hazel talk to Holly.
"I know. Efrafans are horrible." Alexis says as she looks down.
"Why do you sound like you already knew that?" Dandelion asks.
"I don't. I am just going by what Holly said." Alexis says nervously as Dandelion looks at her.
"Bucks don't dig. We can't dig. Look at this scrape for Frith's sake." Bigwig says angrily as he is attempting to dig while a couple of the others are arguing from getting dirt on each other.
"Stop you two stop! Digging a new warren is hard enough without us fighting." Blackberry says as the two bucks stop fighting.
"I know we need to be safe from the Efrafans but bucks can't dig! We need does." Bigwig says as he stops digging and goes over to Hazel.
"He's right. You say this is home but without does it can't be so. As diggers, as mother's, as companions. They bring us balance and a reason for living." Fiver says as he joins the group crowding around Hazel.
"There was at least one doe we saw in the hutch at the farm." Blackberry says.
"Was their? I... don't remember." Hazel says.
"Don't remember. You were starring into her eyes like they were carrots." Bluebell says as the bucks begin to argue about going to get the does at the farm.
"We're eight buck and two doe Hazel. If that balance isn't addressed there will be fighting. There will be blood spilled and as leader that blood will pool at your feet. If we just raid the farm we can avoid all that by freeing the does." Bigwig says trying to reason with Hazel.
"You don't understand! No one goes back to the farm. No one goes near humans. That's an order." Hazel says as the group then hear a loud scream and see a white and grey bird fall to the ground.
"Frith's fury! The heavens are falling down!" Bigwig shouts as everyone goes closer to the bird.
"It's a bird.. of some sort." Alexis says seeing the animal.
"Be careful Hazel. That thing looks like it could tear your leg off." Bigwig says as Hazel goes near the bird.
"I think it's starving." Hazel says.
"And it looks wounded." Alexis says.
"We need to feed him. Quickly everyone. Let's dig for some grubs." Hazel says.
"Are you mad? Why would you save the life of a creature that could kill us?" Bigwig asks.
"I might be mad but that thing maybe our best hope. It's got wings. It can see things we can't. It can go looking for other warren's. It can see does." Hazel says.
"Well you heard him. Dig up some worms now." Bigwig says.
*Timeskip*
"Call this a meal? Bring me more worms." kehaar says as Aleixs and Strawberry give him some worms before getting away from him.
"I really don't know how I feel about this bird." Alexis says.
"I don't know. I think he is kind of sweet. In a weird way." Strawberry says before everyone hears Hawkbit and Dandelion fighting.
"Hawkbit? Dandelion?" Alexis asks.
"Stop it. Stop it right now!" Strawberry shouts.
"Enough!" Alexis shouts as she jumps between the two getting bitten in her shoulder in the process before growling viciously at the two bucks causing them to stop and look at her. As the two are about to try to go at it again they stop as Bigwig and Strawberry come running over getting between them with Alexis.
"Both of you go calm down!" Hazel shouts as Dandelion and Hawkbit back off still growling at each other.
"I told you there'd be fighting. And mark my words without does this is only the beginning of it." Bigwig says as he turns to Hazel.
"Bigwig, Fiver, we leave at dawn. The rest of you stay here. I don't want to risk all of us." Hazel says as everyone nods.
*Timeskip*
"Maybe they left because they saw how Dandelion almost mortally wounded me." Hawkbit says as he is sitting with Alexis, Dandelion and Strawberry.
"I'm so worried for them." Strawberry says.
"I am as well." Alexis says.
"I hope they're safe. You hope they're safe? What about us? We've been abandoned, it's going dark, we've no warren and there's a new type of elil in these hills. We'll be lucky to last the night." Hawkbit says.
"You have me you know." Alexis says.
"Oh yes. Elil protecting us from another elil. That makes me feel much safer." Hawkbit says.
"Hey!" Alexis says annoyedly.
"Leave her be Hawkbit. I trust Alexis to protect us." Dandelion says as Alexis smiles at him.
"Brambles. I've just had a great idea. Why don't we dig the warren? Imagine the others' faces if when they get back we've built them a place to sleep. A place to feel safe and warm. And cosy. It has to be cosy." Strawberry says as she begins digging.
"Agreed. I will help you with that while Hawkbit feeds Kehaar." Dandelion says.
"Why don't you feed Kehaar?" Hawkbit asks.
"I don't know. Maybe I'm afraid he'll mortally wound me." Dandelion says as he looks at Hawkbit.
"Knock it off. Both of you!" Alexis says angrily.
"Slugs in a burrow stop! You are both helping us dig the warren and we don't want to hear another word out of either of you or we won't be friends any more." Strawberry says angrily as Hawkbit and Dandelion quickly go quiet.
"You two have quite a way with the females!" Kehaar says as he laughs before Alexis sneaks off.
*Timeskip*
"Oh come on. Give me something. I have to find them before anything else does." Alexis says as she is sniffing around in wolf form.
"This way!" A voice shouts causing Alexis to quickly hide before seeing two bucks.
"Some rabbits are trying to escape." The buck says as he and the other buck leave.
"Escape? Oh no. Please don't be who I think it is." Alexis says worriedly as she runs off.
*Timeskip*
As Alexis follows the buck's scents she soon spots them and some other bucks are Bluebell, Blackberry, and another buck.
"You rabbits have made a very grave error." A buck says before Alexis runs over growling in wolf form.
"That's what you think!" Alexis shouts as she jumps at the rabbits causing them to scatter away from her.
"Alexis!" Bluebell and Blackberry shout happily.
"Elil!" The bucks shout in alarm.
"Over here!" A voice shouts revealing to be Hyzenthlay.
"Hyzenthlay! Get her!" A buck shouts as a buck chases Hyzenthlay.
"Go! Alexis take them and run!" Hyzenthlay shouts as she runs.
"Come on! Run! I know the way out of here." Alexis says as Bluebell, Blackberry and Holly follow her.
"You know with that doe?" Blackberry asks.
"I'll explain later. Right now we got to move." Alexis says.
*Timeskip*
"I can't Holly. Leave me." Blackberry says as he starts to slow down.
"Just keep going! Just keep looking ahead!" Holly shouts.
"We can't stop here. We have to go." Alexis says as she grabs Blackberry and begins running with him.
"Bluebell, Holly, Alexis don't look into the light. You'll go tharn." Holly shouts as the group comes to a railroad track as Alexis gets grabbed by a buck causing her to fall to the ground on the track and drop Blackberry while shifting back to doe form.
"Let go of me!" Alexis shouts angrily as she tries to get the rabbit off her leg.
"It's the doe we lost. Capture her and bring her back!" A buck shouts.
"No!" Alexis shouts in fear.
"Alexis!" Bluebell shouts as she shoves the rabbit off before he and Alexis jump to safety as a train comes by.
"Thank you Bluebell." Alexis says as she pants.
"You're welcome. I can't believe you came from Efrafa. Why didn't you ever tell us?" Bluebell asks.
"I'm so sorry. I promise I'll explain but here is not the place or the time." Alexis says.
"What was that?" Bluebell asks as he looks around.
"I don't know. I... Frith has decided that it's not our time to stop running. Alexis is right. It's not safe here." Holly says.
"The others need to know about this new warren." Bluebell says as the group leaves.
