Hey, everyone! This is the first Cobra Kai story that I'm writing. I've only seen the first season and part of season two so far. So I hope that I didn't entirely mess up anything. With that being said, the following story was brought to you by the following items on the following forums:
Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry:
Limited Edition: Historical Fiction The Book Theif by Markus Zusack (object) book
Valentines or Palentines: OTP Challenge Day 11 (object) Notebook
Monthly Challenges For All:
Shipping Wars: Samantha LaRusso/Tory Nichols (no team name), Fall Big List (Pen/Pencil), 578 words
Warning for hinted at bullying. The word count of this story is 578 words. I hope you all enjoy Notebook Scratch.
The scratching of the pencil of the girl sitting in front of me annoys me as much as the girl who is using the pencil does. Her perfect curly caramel brown hair hangs in perfect ringlet around her shoulders as she scribbles on the cover of her notebook.
She thinks she's so perfect that she doesn't have to pay attention to what the teacher is talking about like the rest of us. She's probably sitting there inscribing her insidious notebook with her and Miguel's initials. I can imagine it now. SL+MD or some stupid stuff like that.
"Miss Laurens, can you tell Sam that the rest of us want to listen to what you're teaching us," I said, not bothering to raise my hand in order to speak. "Not the scratching of her pencil on her notebook."
Sam turns to look at me and I have to blink back my shock at the hurt I see in her eyes before she blinks it away. Her look turns sour and she looks like she's about to say something to me when Miss Laurens walks over to us.
"Is there a problem here?" she asks, looking between Sam whose looking at her notebook, and me.
"No," I said, cocking my head to the side trying to get the hurt expression on Sam's face out of my mind. "I"m just trying to pay attention to…." I point towards the front of the room.
"I'm paying attention too," Sam says, not turning to look at me. "It's called multitasking, Nichols."
I snort.
"Ladies, one more word on the subject of paying attention versus drawing on notebooks and you'll both have detention, do I make myself clear?" Miss Laurens asks, looking between me and the back of Sam's head.
"Yes, ma'am," Sam says with a heavy sigh.
I nod.
Miss Laurens goes back to the front of the class and continues teaching the class. But now I can't pay attention to class or anything else. I can't get the hurt look that Samantha LaRusso had on her face out of my mind. I look at her back once more as she starts to scratch scratch scratch at her notebook once more.
After what seems like an eternity of trying to figure out the mystery that is Sam LaRusso's emotions and her annoying scratching at her notebook the bell to end class finally rings. I watch as Sam pushes her books and notebook into her backpack. But as she goes to leave the offending notebook of scratch happens to fall out of her bag.
I'm not a horrible person. I promise I'm not. This is why I bent down to pick up the thing in order to call after her and tell her she's left her notebook behind. But then that this when I realize she wasn't writing her and Miguel's initials. It was another set of initials she was writing. Ones that I easily recognized.
SL+TN=4ever
I scanned the notebook seeing different variations of the same sort of message and then all of a sudden the look on Sam's face made sense. Everything was starting to make sense. But now I had her notebook. How was I going to return it to her?
"Tory, we're going to be late," Miguel called, snapping me out of my thoughts as I pushed Sam's notebook into my backpack.
I would find a way to get it back to her later. After karate.
I hope you all enjoyed Notebook Scratch as much as I enjoyed writing it.
