SL
Those two tiny letters kept staring up at me from my right wrist. There was only one person with those initials that I knew of and she certainly wasn't my soulmate. She probably wouldn't even give me a glass of water to put myself out if I were on fire.
"Have you figured out who those initials belong to yet?" asked Miguel looking down at the RK on his wrist.
"Have you figured out your own?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. He'd mentioned the one person that he wanted those initials to belong to when we'd first met. But besides that, he'd never actually been brave enough to confront Robby about it.
"SL," Miguel said, looking over my shoulder as Sam LaRusso joined the table of Miyagi Do students. "You don't think that your initials could belong to Sam LaRusso, do you?"
"Did you ask Robby Keene to get a look at the initials on him?" I asked, knowing that Miguel would actually enjoy seeing the place where Robby's soulmate's initials ended up.
"No," Miguel said, going red in the face. It was far too easy to make Miguel blush. Especially when it came to Robby. Or Robby being his soulmate for that matter. "But you didn't answer my question."
"I will answer your question if you go over there and ask Robby to show you the initials of his soulmate," I told him, holding out my hand to seal the deal with a shake.
"You will absolutely answer the question if I do that?"
I nod.
"Challenge accepted," he said, holding out his hand and shaking mine. "Do you want to come with and make sure I hold up my end of the bargain?"
"Why not?"
I followed Miguel over where Robby sat talking with Sam. Why hadn't I noticed her sitting with Robby when I made the deal? I could see Sam's face as she noticed that I was walking over with Miguel. She seemed really shocked and I couldn't blame her. After all, I had started the brawl that ended up with Miguel getting knocked over the railing by Robby and me almost killing Sam.
"Can we help you two?" she asked, looking between myself and Robby. I couldn't help but notice her covering something on her wrist. I could barely make out the T before her sleeve was slammed over it.
"Uhm…." Miguel looked at Robby, biting his lip nervously. "I think that I might have found something you're looking for."
"Yeah?" Robby asked, looking Miguel up and down. "What's that?"
"Your soulmate," Miguel said, blushing a pink that would have made any girl jealous of him. "Maybe I can figure it out if you could show me the initials of your soulmate?"
"Are you kidding me?" Sam snorted, glaring at us. "Robby doesn't have to show you anything, Miguel?"
"It's alright, Sam." Robby stood and raised his shirt over his head allowing the blue tee to flitter down to the floor. Just as I had remembered from our time dating right over his heart was the initials MD.
Sam snorted again.
I turned to glare at her. "What's your problem, princess?" I asked, looking over to where Robby and Miguel were staring at each other in shock.
"It's just sort of ridiculous that…."
"Says the girl hiding her own soulmate's initials. What do your's say? Probably not one of them because I know enough to know that Miguel's are RK. They're perfectly matched."
Sam shook her head still covering her wrist. This caused anger to bubble up in my chest. If there was one thing that I hated more than anything in the world it was someone lying to themselves. I reached over pulled the sleeve of her shirt up to reveal the initials upon her wrist.
"TN?" I asked, watching as her face went as pink as Miguel's. "TN?"
"Tory Nichols," Miguel said, slapping me on the shoulder. "Look, Sam." He held out my wrist so that Sam could see the SL upon my wrist. "SL. Sam LaRusso."
Sam and I stared at each other in shock for a beat before the meaning of what had just happened slipped over us. We were each other's soulmates whether we liked it or not. But perhaps we could come to eventually like it. Right?
I hope you all enjoyed Eventual Soulmates as much as I enjoyed writing it.
