There is certainly nothing sexier than a person, doesn't matter if it's a guy or a girl, in a bowtie. At least that is what I have come to realize from all the fans that Doctor Who's Doctor has. No matter what incarnation the guy is considered hot because he's got a frickin' bowtie on. I looked around the section of bowties in the department store that I was standing in. I didn't know what kind of bowtie to get.
There were ones that you had to tie yourself. There were ones that came pretied and you could just slip them over your neck. But those were the ones for little kids and would probably look like a choker on me. Then there were the geek's constant friends. The clip-on bowties. I wasn't going for one of them.
"Why are you looking for a bowtie?" Miguel asked, watching as Robby pulled a dark blue tuxedo off a hanger to try on. "Aren't you going to be wearing a dress or something like that?"
"Who said that bowties couldn't pair well with dresses?" I asked, cocking an eyebrow at him. Eyeing one of the complex ones that you had tie yourself. "I just don't know which one to get is all."
"What color dress are you wearing?" Miguel asked, looking over his shoulder to make sure that Robby wasn't listening. Which he definitely wouldn't have been having just walked into the dressing room to try on a tux. "Black goes with anything. Like this one I'm getting is going to offset my white tux perfectly."
"But what goes well with silver?" I asked looking over the complex myriad of ties.
"How about something like this?" he asked, lifting a glittery silver tie I hadn't noticed upon my first walk-through of the section. "It's silver so it will match your dress. It's super glittery too. Girls like glitter."
I looked at the tie and was about to say no when I started to imagine the look on Sam's face when she spotted me and my glittery necktie. Maybe Miguel was right. Girls or at least girly girls did like glitter.
"Thanks, Miguel," I said, taking the tie from him. "Now how do I tie this thing?"
"Perhaps that a good question for Robby," he said, chuckling and blushing. "Either Robby or my mom ties my ties for me."
It seemed like the school dance was upon us in no time. Like literally no time. After karate and school, I spent time with Miguel and Robby learning to tie my tie for the dance. That is when Sam and I weren't going to the movies or sitting by her pool. But tonight everything seemed so real.
My hands nervous twitched as I tied the bowtie the way that Robby had showed Miguel and myself how to. It didn't look right but it was the best that I could make my twitching hands do at the moment. I hoped that Sam would understand that.
"You look amazing, sis," my little brother said, looking at me as I left my room decked from head to toe in silver.
"Thanks, little bro," I said, smiling as he went and got mom something to eat. "I'll probably be home late. But if you or mom need anything you have my cell number."
"We'll be fine, Tor," he said, rolling his eyes at me. "Just go and have fun." He then added as an afterthought, "But not too much fun."
I rolled my eyes as I stepped outside to go and get my car. I had figured that I would drive us to the dance but apparently, someone had other ideas. As I was stepping out of my front door a big stretch limo pulled to a stop at the end of the steps leading from my floor. The door opened and Sam stepped out looking like a vision in pink with….My eyes went to her neck where a pink bowtie was sitting. She had the same idea that I had.
I walked down the stairs and smiled at her trying to keep in mind that not only was Sam in the car but some of our friends too.
"You look beautiful, Sam," I said, pulling her into a kiss.
"Not as beautiful as you, Tory," she said, holding out a bouquet of flowers for me. "Bowties fit you perfectly."
"Thank you," she said, blushing a color that could only match the dress she was wearing.
"You're welcome," I said, sliding into the limo after her.
The whole ride to the dance I couldn't stop thinking about how sexy Sam looked with that bowtie on. Damn you, Doctor Who, and your bowtie for driving this bowtie craze into everyone. It seemed like an eternity when we finally arrived at the school. I watched as the others got out of the limo. But as I went to follow them I could feel Sam's finger gently loop through my bowtie and gently pull me back
"I was kind of hoping that we could have a little alone time before we entered the dance," she said, winking as she pulled me into a passion-filled kiss.
"But we'll be la…."
"Fashionably late," Sam finished for me.
"I mean….okay," I said, smiling into the kiss she'd just pulled me into. Bowties were fastly becoming one of my favorite fashion accessories. I couldn't wait for the next time I'd be able to wear one.
I hope you all enjoyed Bow Tie Girl as much as I enjoyed writing it.
