Chapter 2

A Royal Summons Pt. 2

Point of View: 3rd …

Priests had been standing in front of Link, and what seemed to be the other Holy Saints. One had a shield, one a bow, and the last a spear. And all were confused with their situation.

Head Priest: While I'm certain you are all very taken aback by your circumstances, time runs short for all of us!

Time running short. Strange circumstances. Nothing that Link hasn't experienced before. But he couldn't be too cocky. Danger had a strange way of surprising the Chosen Hero. The priest went on to explain.

Head Priest: Within our country of Melromarc, vicious demons in large numbers have crawled out from a materialized dimensional crack and are exposing everyone to great danger! Our country's knights and adventurers barely managed to eliminate the First Wave of demons, but the hourglass is already indicating when the next Wave of Calamity will soon be upon us.

This all seemed a bit too strange to the young hero in green. Could he perhaps be in the strange land of Lorule the history books spoke of? If so, where's the Triforce? Ganon? Hell, even seeing Ravio would be enough for him right now. The four heroes walked to the throne room to meet the king. Once they arrived, only one of the heroes kneeled; Link. The King grinned while the other heroes looked confused.

King: You may stand, young man.

And stand, the hero did.

King: I am the King of this Country, Aultcray Melromarc the XXXII. Should you save our glorious country, you will be duly compensated in turn.

Melromarc, huh? SO it wasn't Lorule. But he wasn't in Hyrule either. Another Kingdom outside of Hyrule? It could be possible.

King: Aside from that, I have aid funds prepared for you. I ask that you work to your fullest. Now then, Heroes, I will hear of your names.

The shorter of the heroes spoke first.

Bow Hero: I am Kawasumi Itsuki, 17-years old.

Then the taller one spoke.

Spear Hero: My name's Kitamura Motoyasu. I'm a 21-year old university student.

Aultcray looked at Link with slight anticipation.

King: And you, Sword Hero?

Link had motioned for a priest to come over to him. When he came, Link whispered in his ears.

Priest: He calls himself Link. A Knight of Hyrule. 18-years old.

Link: Hm!

King: A Knight, eh? Interesting.

?: Um, I still haven't introduced myself yet!

Aultcray had grimaced seeing the Shield Hero.

King: Your name?

Shield Hero: … Iwatani Naofumi. I'm a 20-year old university student.

Why did he look so disgusted, Link could only wonder. Is the Shield Hero a bad guy? Is he not the most favored? So many questions, so little answers. The Head Priest walked up to the four heroes.

Head Priest: Now if everyone could confirm their statuses?

Link: Huh?

Kitamura: Status?

Iwatani: What's that?

Head Priest: Oh! Let me explain. In the lower right corner of your eye, you should see a small square. Just focus on it, and it should show your status.

During this little tutorial, Link found the small square and stared at it for a while. Then, it popped up and expanded, showing all of Link's "stats." Link motioned the same priest from before to ask them a question.

Link: *Whispering*

Priest: Well, ATK is Attack Strength, DEF is your Defense, SPD is your Speed, MAG is Magic, and SP is Special.

The Hero in green nodded in appreciation. When the priest walked away, Link opened his Equipment Menu, seeing both the Master Sword and the Legendary Sword. When he tapped it, the Master Sword disappeared and the Legendary Sword appeared in his hand. The Shield Hero, Iwatani, walked towards him.

Iwatani: Hey, do you have any idea what's going on?

Link shrugged at his fellow hero, no knowing what was happening either.

Iwatani: You don't talk much, do you?

Once Link was done taking a glance at his stats, Aultcray started to speak again.

King: I believe it will take you some time to get used to this new situation. I have prepared a shared bedroom for you four. Get some food, some rest, and meet back here come dawn. I shall be waiting.

Later that Day …

The Heroes had just eaten the feast of a lifetime. They headed up to their room to catch some sleep.

Kitamura: That was great! Game World Food is awesome!

Kawasumi: Not that far off from real world food if I do say so.

Link: Meh …

The Bow and Spear both looked at Link.

Both: What do you mean?!

Link shrugged. There wasn't much else to say. This was expected back in Hyrule when he first pulled the Master Sword and basically saved the Kingdom so a typical Tuesday for him.

Iwatani: It was okay. Couldn't beat instant ramen though. That stuff is the bomb.

A silence had filled the room after Iwatani had spoken, with Kawasumi breaking it soon after.

Kawasumi: So, your name's Link, right?

Link nodded.

Kawasumi: Y'know, you look an awful lot similar to a Game Character back in my world. Can't exactly put my finger on it though.

Kitamura: Strange. He doesn't look all that familiar to me.

Iwatani: Me neither. Maybe we just have a few different experiences.

Kawasumi: Hmm … Then there's only one way to solve this! Name your favorite anime!

Anime? Link thought in his head. But he just decided to lay on his bed. It was going to be an exciting day come dawn, and he was not going to want to miss a thing.
