Chapter 4

The Call to Adventure; Pt. 2

Point of View: 3rd …

The Sword Hero's party stood in a field that Durmann had directed them to.

Durmann: This place is an EXP Harvest for beginners. It's home to these little balloon things that target unsuspecting travelers. They aren't strong but incredibly annoying.

Stal: Awesome! We oughta get enough EXP by the end of the day then!

Link: Yah!

Mikou: Well then, let's get a move on!

For about an hour and a half, Link and the others; excluding Phiers; collected about 870 EXP in total with them all reaching Level 6. Link was fighting off some of the balloon things before spotting a cave.

Link: Huh?

Link stood at the entrance to the cave before deciding to walk in.

*CAUTION: Recommended Lv. 7 to enter Dungeon! Are you prepared?*

YES

NO

Link had wondered why the screen had popped up. Thinking he had no need for caution, he clicked "Yes" and both he and his party were teleported inside the cave.

Dungeon #1

START!

Leirrson: Wha?! Where are we?!

It didn't take very long for Phiers to figure out what happened.

Phiers: It would seem that Fearless Leader decided to attempt his first Dungeon.

Link: Ehh …

Mikou: We'll be fine, we're only one level behind.

Durmann: Yeah! Don't worry Leirrson, we'll be done in no time!

Link spotted an unlit torch and picked it up.

Stal: Anybody spot some fire?

Leirrson: There's a light up ahead. It could be a fire.

Durmann: I'll check it out. Just gimme the torch, Link!

The Hylian handed the torch to the Miner as he walked first, the others following close behind. As it turned out, it was a fire. It was in a circular room with a treasure chest in the middle.

Mikou: Strange. A reward just for walking? Seems suspicious.

Stal: Eh, don't worry about it.

The Mask Wearer walked towards the chest and was about to open it. Suddenly, Link's ear twitched.

Link: Stal!

The chest opened, tongue and fangs showing. It lunged at Stal with glowing eyes, but the young man was pulled back by Phiers.

Stal: Phew! Thanks!

Phiers: No problem.

5 other Chest Monsters dropped down from the ceiling, and the Party got into fighting stances.

Durmann: Mimics! Dirty li'l bastards!

Link had switched his weapon from the Legendary Sword to the Master Sword.

Mikou: Everyone! Their weak spot is their hinges!

Stal: Got it!

Phiers: Mm!

Leirrson: Be careful, everyone!

Link: Hah!

Durmann rushed forwards, flailing his hammer a few times before crushing the first Mimic.

Durmann: Haha!

Mikou dodged two Mimics before bashing both of them with his guitar.

Mikou: Another two bite the dust!

Leirrson had been fighting a Mimic on her own, somewhat struggling. She decided to use a spell, summoning vines from the ground, pulling the Mimic in.

Leirrson: I did it!

Link and Phiers had been fighting off two Mimics on their own. Link had swung at the mimic thrice, and on the fourth swing, knocked it away.

Link: HYAH!

Link thrusted his sword towards the Mimic, blasting it, and turning it into dust. With Phiers, he kicked the Mimic away before jumping and impaling it with his sword.

Phiers: Yes!

With that, a door opened, leading to another room.

Stal: Guess we're going forward.

The team continued to walk into a bigger room. There seemed to be more torch spots in the room, lighting up as the Party entered.

Stal: Creepy …

The sparks from the fire had collected into the center of the room, materializing into a skeletal figure, burning.

Monster: Dah …

The Monster raised his arms, creating flaming orbs in his hands.

Durmann: A Flameskel. Water attacks should do us some good here. Leirrson, hang back.

Leirrson: Yessir!

Link, Phiers, and Durmann rushed towards the Flameskel, all flailing their weapons at it, slightly cracking the bones on its body.

Mikou: Prepare to take my Rockin' Water Magic!

With the strum of his guitar, a wave of water materialized, splashing the flaming monster. Stal then played a strange tune on his Ocarina, forming a strange statue that looked an awful lot like Link. It fell on the weakened Flameskel, crushing it.

Stal: Yes! I did it!

Phiers: That was strangely easy for a Dungeon Boss. But hey, at least it's over.

Link: Heh.

Suddenly, a pillar of flame burst up from the ground where the statue landed. The Link replica crumbled to ash as a raging Flameskel set its "eyes'' on the Party.

Durmann: … Oh shit …

Nighttime, Town Inn …

The party walked into an Inn, burn marks on their bodies and singed pieces of hair.

Stal: Never again.

Link shook his head at the remark, just as traumatized as his fellow teammates.

Link had ordered some food for his party, using some of the silvers he obtained in the Dungeon. While waiting for their food, an alert popped up for the young Hylian.

ALERT

Item in Inventory can forge new weapon!

Item: Fire Crystal

Link had obtained the Crystal back in the dungeon after the battle with the Flameskel. He grabbed it out of his inventory and held it up to his Legendary Sword. Then the Crystal was absorbed.

Fire Crystal Acquired!

Restrictions on the Flameblade have been removed!

The sword had been engulfed in flame, with the flames soon dissipating to show the Flameblade.

Stal: What the-?! It's a Fire Sword!

Phiers: It's a Flameblade. An elemental weapon. Apparently, the Sword reacted to the Fire Crystal, and Fearless Leader's able to use it now.

Link: Huh.

?: HEY YOU!

Link looked behind. The innkeeper had been yelling at him.

Innkeeper: Put that thing away! I don't want my building to burn down!

Link: Ah!

Link switched back to the Legendary Sword, placing it in its sheath. Our heroes seemed to have completed their first adventure. But tomorrow a choice will determine how Link and another of his fellow heroes are seen in the public eye. The only question is, will the Chosen Hero make the right call?
