so it turns out that i can get 5 chapters out in a day. Don't expect this to happen everyday. since I prewritten pretty much all of today's chapters excluding 4 and 5. Anyways, enjoy the chapter, and I hope to get more of these out.
"Alright Ninetales," Daniel clapped his hands as soon as he closed the door of his car. The boy opened the pack of pencils and got the plastic wrap off the notebook. He flipped open the notebook and handed it over to the fox. "I'm going to be honest, I'm still getting used to the fact that Pokemon are a thing now," Daniel slumped back in his chair. "And it's even weirder, knowing that a fox can write in english," he sat back up and turned to face Vulpix and Ninetales, who were now sharing the front seat. "So I wanna ask a couple of questions, since there are a few things I've got no clue on," Daniel continued. Ninetales nodded, he was excited that he found a way to communicate with his trainer, despite his lack of telepathy. Vulpix didn't seem too excited, seeing as so far his only experiences with humans were almost getting hit by a car and getting kicked at. "Alright, so I know that you can very obviously shoot fire and have psychic powers, Ninetales, but what else can you do?"
Ninetales took a hold of the pencil in his mouth, before slowly writing down what a Ninetales was capable of. He's never met a snow Vulpix, so he wasn't going to write down what Vulpix were capable of. The fox growled a couple times at the pencil constantly slipping and ruining what he wrote. If only his telekinesis was a bit more refined, but even Ninetales knew that wasn't likely. Just because his species was very capable with stuff like telekinesis, or could have potent strength with Psychic moves, they lacked the finer mastery that actual Psychic types have. Ninetales dropped the pencil when his crude writing was complete. "Hey Vulpix, do you know what a snow Vulpix is capable of or…?" Vulpix nodded. "Just think of the Ice equivalent to Fire type moves, and that's what I can do. Even if I'm not personally capable of all of those moves," Ninetales nodded before picking the pencil out and writing down Ice Shard, the only ice move he remembered.
The writing was a bit hard to read when Daniel was given the notebook to read over. Of course it was mind blowing that an animal was capable of writing, even with how rough it was. Even so, his mind melted, given how his experience with Pokemon didn't really extend beyond Gold and Silver he didn't know Ninetales were capable of half of the things listed. Obviously Fire and Psychic were down, but apparently some Ghost and Grass type moves were on the table. It also turned out that a Ninetales was capable of cursing, which he thought was just something in the Pokedex. "Man… I should've used something other than Typhlosion in the games," Daniel said. That's when his spine shivered, if the Pokedex was accurate, then that would've met he was cursed. "Hey Ninetales, remember when I accidentally pulled on your tails when we were playing in the camp?" Daniel asked. Ninetales nodded. "So did you curse me for doing that or…" Ninetales shook his head. He took the pencil and pulled the notebook out of Daniel's hand with his telekinesis. Ninetales took what felt like forever to write something, and handed it back to Daniels:
"No, I didn't curse you. Ninetales are capable of cursing, but not every single one knows how to. I don't know how to, even if I did, I wouldn't have. Me nipping you was payback enough for an accident. I did consider you my trainer the moment you fed me, so I wouldn't have tried to do such a thing. Though you mentioned Pokemon Games, can you elaborate on that for me and Vulpix? Is that like a fighting tournament?"
Daniel patted his Ninetales on the head. "So about Pokemon Games. Pokemon aren't, or weren't actually real. They were just in a video game made by… Game Freak? I think the games are made by Nintendo now, but I don't really know. They kind of come in sets of two or three, which now that I think about it, are really just the same game with a different title. Each set of games had some amount of Pokemon, like Red and Blue were the first set, and then Gold and Silver were on the next one. I think we're on… I don't even know at this point. Ninetales and Vulpix were introduced in Red and Blue, but a couple years ago they got a new form…" Daniel pointed at Vulpix. "And I think you're what the new form of Vulpix looks like. Something something Aloha," he said. Vulpix's head tilted, but realized the words said. He wasn't in his world anymore, nor was Ninetales, but the games he described so far seemed accurate. The Alolan region was what he called home until now.
Ninetales didn't seem to phased by what he was told, if a Vulpix was as fortunate as he was and evolved, then their comprehension of the world skyrocketed. He had guessed a couple of times that he wasn't in his world, given how a regular person in his world would've tried putting a Ninetales like him in a Pokeball immediately. With how sought after his kind was for their fur, usefulness, or because of how a rich person thought that Ninetales were an elegant Pokemon. The fox also would have guessed that he wasn't in his world, since he currently wasn't in a Pokeball. This seemed a bit odd to him, but he preferred this outcome when he started seeking out a human to call his own; he would've hated being in one of those damned things all the time. "Nine!" Ninetales barked. "You wanna know if I've got any more questions?" Ninetales nodded. "Well… are Pokemon like Lugia real? In the games these are called legendaries and have some absurd power. Like one can control time apparently, another is quite literally god… and Lugia was master of the sea I think," Daniel said.
Ninetales and Vulpix looked at each other before bursting into laughter. There was no such thing, sure some pokemon believed in those gods, so did some humans. In reality, those things just weren't actually real, at least that was common knowledge amongst pokemon. "I'm… going to assume there's nothing like a Mewtwo sitting in a cave somewhere then…" Daniel sighed in relief. Ninetales and Vulpix looked at him with weird expressions. What could go wrong if a Groundon was real? It would be too busy hibernating to be a threat. "Looks like nobody will be taking over the world with a llama stuck in a fence…" Daniel still couldn't believe that was what Game Freak went with for the literal god of their games. "Though with how you guys exist, I have a feeling if some war breaks out, I'll get drafted and stabbed by a fucking Beedrill," Daniel said. "Anyhow, if you guys have something to ask, write it down," the boy said. Both Ninetales and Vulpix just wanted to get out of the parking lot already. So Ninetales pulled the seatbelt across his chest and Vulpix jumped into Daniel's lap with a little bark.
"Alrighty, if you do get something else to ask, it can wait for a bit," Daniel backed the car out and sighed. He realized just how busy Walmart was and how long he'll be sitting just trying to get out of the parking lot. He occasionally peeked out the window to see the same cart pusher and Pidgeotto sitting out front of the store. The employee was showing off his new buddy to the manager who had escorted Daniel out. The poor woman looked beyond shocked that Pidgeotto was surprisingly strong. The cart pusher handed the bird another cookie before turning to get back into work. As Daniel started nearing the entrance in his car, which happened to also lead out onto the street, he could hear the cart pusher start freaking out. He looked out the window again to see Pidgeotto rub up against his newfound friend. "Awe, he likes you a lot!" The manager jokes, still on edge about how a Pokemon was sitting on her employee's shoulder.
Daniel groaned as he finally got onto the street, by no means was he a road rager, but it had been a solid hour since he had pulled out of his parking spot. Vulpix was asleep in his car and Ninetales didn't seem to have a care in the world. Sure, when both Pokemon could live for about a couple hundred years at a minimum, it wasn't so bad. Daniel's mood lightened up when he finally got moving. The almost entirely country landscape had started fading away as the car drove along. The constant stretches of corn fields with the occasional gas station turned into suburbs. The Ninetales looked heavily invested in this change, not taking his eyes off the window, and would've wagged his fluffy tails if they weren't pinned in between his rear end and the car seat. The car stopped outside of a small house that was only two stories tall. "You guys are about to meet my mom," Daniel said.
Ninetales opened the door himself and hopped out, but Vulpix was still fast asleep in Daniel's arms. He honestly couldn't complain, the little fox was adorable, and wasn't that heavy. So carrying the thing didn't seem like too big of a deal. Daniel walked up the driveway, Ninetales at his side, and stopped at the door. Daniel adjusted the Vulpix in his arms, so that he could knock on the door. "Ninetales stay behind me when I open the door." Ninetales obliged with his trainer's request. Daniel tried to hide Vulpix's tails with his arms, but gave up. He knew lying to his mom about Vulpix would fall flat when there was a Ninetales standing right behind him. "Here goes nothing," Daniel lifted his free hand and knocked on the door.
The door gently opened, on the other side was a woman, who Ninetales assumed was his mom. "Hey Mom, have you seen the news?" The young man grinned as he fondled Vulpix in his arms. "About how Pokemon are real…" Daniel's mother said. "You definitely did," Daniel chuckled. "And I'm assuming that Vulpix plush you asked for suddenly bleached itself white and learnt how to breathe," his mother shook her head. "Daniel Walter, you do know just how dangerous those things are, right? I'm sure you would, given how much you played those games and watched the show as a child," Daniel's mother looked at Vulpix. "Well, this little guy's cute and cuddly. How bad can he get…" Daniel paused as Ninetales stuck his head around his trainer's legs. "Ninetales!" Daniel yelled, trying to get the fox back behind his legs. "So you couldn't stop yourself with a cute little fox, you had to get the bigger, more dangerous one," Daniel's mother said, shaking her head.
"Well, they can't be that bad right? Ninetales played with me while I was out camping, and Vulpix slept in my lap on the drive back," Daniel tried to reason. "And that is exactly why you brought them here," Daniel's mom just began to smile as she pulled her son into a hug. "I'm just glad that you didn't end up on the news being eaten by a Charizard or whatever that fire dragon was," his mother backed away. Vulpix was now wide awake, having heard Daniel's yell and being squeezed in between two humans. "Vulpix!" The little fox didn't move as his trainer's mother reached out and started petting him. "Come inside Daniel, I know how long that car ride was."
Vulpix found himself now in a woman's arms, which honestly he didn't mind. It felt nicely comfortable just being in a human's arms. On top of Daniel calling this woman his mom, he assumed the lady could be trusted. "Do you know what your new pets eat at least?" Daniel's mother said as Ninetales laid in front of the couch. "I know they can eat 7 Eleven hotdogs and ham sandwiches," Daniel shrugged. "Okay then, I'll get some ham sandwiches since I don't think we even have hotdogs," Daniel's mother said. The woman patted Vulpix on the back of the head, handed him back over to Daniel, and headed into the kitchen.Daniel then settled his Vulpix on the floor. Ninetales stood up and started trying to get Daniel to play with him. Both foxes started wrestling with their trainer.
