Daniel waved his mother goodbye as he started out towards his car. Ninetales calmly waddled behind him while Vulpix was being held in his trainer's arms. The sun was setting, owls and Hoothoots' voices filled the air all around the tree. Daniel plopped down in his car seat and sat back for a couple of seconds. "I'm going to need to learn a bit more about pokemon tonight…" Daniel almost groaned at the thought. There was nearly a thousand of these things in existence even without the presence of legendaries… if how Vulpix and Ninetales reacted was any indicator to their existence. Ninetales lied down in the backseat and was out in a couple of seconds, whereas Vulpix was still awake.

The Alolan Vulpix had been wide awake ever since he saw the news earlier. Sure, he knew that Daniel wouldn't hurt him, but it still didn't make the fox think that he was fully safe. What would happen if his trainer needed to go to work where neither Pokemon were allowed in? What if somebody with authority saw him and Ninetales? Vulpix looked up at Daniel who had his phone out. "Vulpix!" The boy looked down at his Pokemon with a relaxed smile. "You need something?" Vulpix grabbed hold of Daniel's arms with his paws. The little fox wanted some kind of affection right now, just something to put his mind at ease even for a moment. Thankfully for him, Daniel got the message and started scratching Vulpix's back.

"I'm just looking at the Pokemon website, since you guys are pretty much aliens, I'm gonna try and learn a bit more about you guys. If… the website is accurate at least," Daniel lowered the device so that Vulpix could see. A picture of a Kantonian Vulpix along with basic facts about the Pokemon filled the screen. Daniel tapped the "Alolan Form" button and a picture of Alolan Vulpix came up. "Alright…" Daniel chuckled. "Well, now I know for sure, you're an ice type," he said. Vulpix stared at the screen with his trainer as both looked over the pages for the Fox Pokemon. "So far all of this is accurate right?" Vulpix tilted his head before shrugging. Unlike a Ninetales, who could very easily understand human texts and speech, Vulpix could understand speech, but couldn't read like Ninetales could. "You can learn Ice Beam apparently," Daniel put the phone down. "I'm just going to assume the website is accurate until I'm proven otherwise."

New York City, the Big Apple, a city that never sleeps. Everyone was going about their business, not with a care in the world. Sure, now along with stray dogs, there were Growlithe, Houndour, and similar pokemon , but that didn't stop the busy city from going about its day. None of these creatures have really threatened or harmed anybody, mostly just asking for food, or joining people at random on their walk to work. It was a nice change of pace since most of the strays in New York were scared of people. Now while somebody walked to work, they'd be joined by a little Growlithe or Rockruff that was simply seeking some kind of company. Due to how dog-like and friendly they were, a few were tempted to take these Pokemon home with them.

A woman with knee length, blond hair walked down the streets. Her attire was a black, long sleeved coat that went down almost to her ankles. A gem hung just below the single button on it, just above her chest. The woman had short, black boots with a yellow stripe just before the toes of said boots. Nobody seemed to pay the woman any mind, as to anyone, it just looked like another passerby in New York City. Judging from the lady's attire, a very successful passerby, but just another person on the streets. She looked up and around, taking in the world around her. Recently she had been taken up in a flash of light and found herself laying in the middle of Central Park. The woman turned down an alleyway before sighing. "Not even Castelia City is this big," the woman continued down the alleyway.

"Alright lady, give me all the money that you've got, any valuables you got on you and nobody'll get hurt," the lady turned around to see a mugger. He was very rough looking, from his work out jacket and jeans, to just his face. In his hand he had a knife, no gun, and was closing in on his new target. "I don't know what you're expecting. I have nothing of value on me, I don't carry my wallet on me," The woman said. "Says the bitch in designer clothing," the guy charged and pinned the woman to the wall. "Give me the gem on your coat and you get to leave with your life," the mugger said. "I can do that, but please do let go of my arms. I can't give you the diamond otherwise," the woman said. The mugger leared at her before letting off her arms. A red and white ball fell from the woman's sleeves and into her hand.

In a flash of light, a humanoid came into existence. Its head was like that of a canine, but its mouth was just under where its muzzle was. Where its hands and feet were paws in their stead. The forepaws had spikes on the back of them, and there was a larger spike on its chest. "Lucario!" The humanoid spoke. It glared at the woman's attacker, like it had heard every word being said to its mother. He stood in between his trainer and the mugger. "What the hell? It's one of those little freaks from the news!" The mugger dropped his knife and ran, not wanting anything to do with it. The woman let out a sigh. "That could have gone worse," the woman placed ahead on her Pokemon's head. "I'm glad that mugger didn't choose to fight. I didn't want to risk you getting stabbed," the Lucario looked up at his trainer with pure admiration.

Ninetales and Vulpix were very underwhelmed by what Daniel's home looked like. It was a small apartment with four rooms. Two of them were merged together, which were the kitchen and the living room. Ninetales could guess that the other two rooms were a bedroom and a bathroom respectively. "Alright, I… don't know what I've got in the fridge, so bare with me while I find you guys something to eat," Daniel walked into the kitchen. It had a normally sized fridge and a microwave, but lacked an oven. It seemed like Daniel substituted his lack of an oven with a tiny little microwave oven. Daniel opened up the fridge and immediately saw a packet of sausages in the door. His fridge was fairly empty, save for a bag of apples and half a loaf of bread. "I… might need to do some grocery shopping," Daniel took the packet of sausages and laid them out on the counter.

Daniel opened a little cabinet, pulled out a miniature grill and set it on the counter. "You guys don't gotta sit and watch me make you two dinner. You guys can go lay down on the couch if you want to. Daniel plugged in the grill and walked into the living room. A Decently sized TV sat on a shelf across from a couch. There was a coffee table with a plate on it with what looked like the remains of a brownie on it. "My god," Daniel took the plate and took it back into the kitchen and stuck it in the dishwasher. He took the sausages out of the packet and stuck them onto the grill. Ninetales and Vulpix chose to follow Daniel over to the door off to the side, assuming they'd be walking into their bedroom.

"Yo Chris, why didn't you put your plate in the dishwasher?" Daniel knocked on the door, hoping to get his roommate's attention. The bedroom door swung open and a young man stepped out. Chris was a couple of heads taller than Daniel. "Oh fuck," Chris rushed towards the living room to find his plate missing, and hadn't even noticed the Pokemon yet. "I saw the news earlier and ran outside, you were on it by the way," Chris said. "I know, I was at my Mom's place when I saw it," Daniel went and sat on the couch. "That so far is the only time you left a plate out, so I can't be too mad. As long as you don't burn the place down, it's not that big of a deal," Daniel said, trying to ignore his friend's talk about the news. "Dan, you were on the news with two fucking Pokemon. You know how cool that is right?" Chris. "Because Pokemon just came into existence and I got two of them to like me?" Chris nodded.

Ninetales and Vulpix now chose to jump onto the couch. "Hey Vulpix, can I lay in Daniel's lap?" Ninetales asked. "Go for it," Vulpix laid down next to Daniel while Ninetales happily piled ontop of hos trainer. "Wait hold it, Dan you weren't just feeding those Pokemon on the news," Chris looked genuinely shocked, at how both Pokemon that were in the clip with his roommate, were now in his apartment. "Yup, This Ninetales and Vulpix are mine now… well Ninetales basically claimed me instead of the other way around," Daniel said, reminiscing in the memory, even if it was two days ago. "Ninetales grabbed Vulpix when we found him crossing the road, which is how I got him," he said. Dan started grinning, he knew just how much Chris loved Pokemon.

"So how's Brilliant Diamond going for you?" Daniel asked while Chris laughed. "You think I wanna play Pokemon when you've got two actual Pokemon? Pokemon are real now and you seriously expect me to wanna play Brilliant Diamond?" Chris reached out to pet Ninetales, which the fox let happen. "Say Chris, can you keep check on those sausages? I was making them for these two fluffballs, and… y'know I kinda can't get up," Daniel asked. "You sure? I'm pretty sure Ninetales would let you up, right?" Chris asked. "It's not a matter of getting up, Chris. It's a matter of me wanting to make Ninetales get up," Daniel said. Ninetales was borderline passed out in his trainer's arms, and was happily enjoying his trainer's embrace.

"Alrighty, but I call getting Vulpix for the night," Chris said before walking into the kitchen. Vulpix tilted his head at first, but decided not to question it. Normally he wouldn't let any human near him with the exception of Daniel. If his trainer trusted this new guy enough to live with him, then surely Chris can't be that bad. "If Vulpix lets you cuddle with him then I'm all for it, if he isn't, then don't make him," Daniel said. Chris flashed a thumbs up. "I won't trust me. But we're going to have to start paying pet rent for them…" Chris shrugged and opened up the grill. "Y'know we both can afford it. I'll pay for all of it since they are my pets," Daniel said while patting his Ninetales. "No no, we split the pay, that's what we agreed on when we signed up when we moved in together. Also the sausages are ready," Chris unplugged the stove and used a fork to move them onto a plate.
