so i kinda fucked up posting this. Whoops. I usually go back and make a bunch of edits, just fixing grammar errors, or adding a few things here and there. so sometimes i do fuck up and accidentally swap out chapters from other stories and dont notice. so if this happens, just assume that i was stupid.

Chris plopped down on the couch beside Dan, laying the sausages on the coffee table, and began to relax. Vulpix hopped over the gap in between the couch and the table. He landed next to the plate of sausages and took one in his mouth. "Say, you wanna watch a movie?" Chris asked. Daniel was focusing on the news channel that was going over how other countries were going about with Pokemon being in existence. "Nintendo and the Pokemon Company plan on making everyone pay money for keeping a Pokemon as a pet," the news headline read. "Dan, stop focusing on the news for a night, how much can things change in an hour?" He tapped Daniel and brought him back.

"Dan, let's just watch a movie of some kind, sure, keeping up to date on Pokemon laws is good, but you gotta take some time to relax," Chris said. "Yeah, I just wanna know if keeping my Ninetales and Vulpix is legal or not," Daniel sighed. "And now Nintendo wants to tax people who might want to keep a Pokemon as a pet," he said. "Look my guy, you can focus on that for tomorrow. For tonight, let's just watch a movie. It's been a minute since we've done that and neither of us aren't on shift tonight," Chris grabbed the remote and changed it to the video input. "So are we watching a Pokemon movie or what?" Vulpix looked up from his plate upon hearing that and focused back on his food. "How about that owl movie?" Daniel asked. Chris shrugged and opened up netflix and put the movie on.

"Hey Ninetales," the fox sleepily lifted its head as the movie began. "You sure you don't want any food?" Vulpix hopped on the couch and pawed at his buddy. "Because I ate half the plate and you've been knocked out the whole time," Vulpix added. Ninetales used his telekinesis to bring the plate over to him and started digging in. Vulpix turned to face whatever the humans were watching. The movie opened up with what looked like a Noctowl telling a story to its younger sibling. Ninetales put the plate back on the coffee table before laying his head back down onto his paws. The fox kept his eyes open to watch the movie, but Vulpix could tell the fox was struggling to be awake.

Ninetales could barely make out what was even happening on the screen, his vision was blurry, and just wanted to sleep. He couldn't even really explain why, as he could stay up entire nights without getting remotely tred, but now he was exhausted. Daniel pulled the sleepy fox closer to him which sealed the deal. Maybe being in human's possession made him more relaxed. He wasn't sleeping in the wild, no worries about his next meal, just love and care. Maybe a Pokemon battle here and there, but that's it in terms of "danger" Ninetales saw himself getting into.

"Hey Dan, you know what Ninetales just did right?" Chris asked. "Yeah, guess why I was pulling him closer? If he's gonna fall asleep on top of me, then I'm going to use him as a pillow," Dan chuckled as Vulpix crawled up to Chris and laid his head against his roommate. Without hesitation, Chris swept up the little fox and held him tightly. "And to think I fell in love with my Pokemon too quickly," Daniel chuckled as he and his roommate set their focus back onto the movie.

Sunlight crept through the window shades, small beams landed directly on Daniel's eyes. Netflix was paused on My Little Pony with a "are you still there?" Prompt. Vulpix was lying directly next to his roommate's face. Ninetales was wide awake, waiting for his trainer to get up. He would have gotten up had it not for Daniel's sleeping form laying on top of him. It just wouldn't feel nice if he woke his human up; he kind of liked being like this. Daniel lifted his head and groggily grabbed the remote. He flipped the TV onto a news channel and stared at the headlines. "Lady shows up at Nintendo NY claiming to be Cynthia from Pokemon Diamond and Pearl." Daniel shrugged before patting Ninetales. "Let me up buddy," the fox obliged with his trainer's request.

Cynthia stood with her arms folded while sitting across from a manager in Nintendo NY. "So I want you to help promote these games for us, can you do that?" The manager said. Lucario was sitting in a chair next to his trainer as they were discussing a business deal. "Not in my wildest dreams did I ever think I'd go from Champion of the Sinnoh Region to a shop worker…" Cynthia knew she needed the money. Nowhere seemed to be taking her Pokedollars and her Pokemon needed to eat. SHe needed to eat. "I can help out with that, yes," Cynthia pulled out her Garchomp's Pokeball and sent him out. The manager almost fell back in his seat upon the dragon's sudden appearance, but got his cool back.

The champion sighed as she stood next to games labeled "Pokemon Brilliant Diamond" and Shining Pearl. Obviously she couldn't complain, the pay seemed decent for what was basically standing around and pointing at a game. "Whoa that cosplay is so realistic!" Cynthia was brought out of her thoughts when some guy came by. "And now with Pokemon being real, it's an even cooler cosplay," he said. Cynthia just awkwardly smiled and waved as the guy took a copy of Brilliant Diamond and asked for a photo. Obviously the woman agreed to it, as champion, she was used to interactions like this. It still didn't stop these situations from feeling awkward. It was still better than being asked if Cynthia would be going out on the beach in a bikini at random.

Garchomp took note of his trainer's unease and so did Lucario. "Garchomp!" The dragon nudged his trainer to gain her attention. "Don't worry about me you guys, it's not the most comfortable thing in the world, but I'll make it," Cynthia said. She couldn't help but smile as both Pokemon hugged her before going back to their positions. Maybe once she earns enough, she can explore this world, which seems vastly different from Unova or Sinnoh. It would be nice to learn about the history of it, the culture of it, and what it's like to just live in it. Apparently Pokemon is nothing more than a couple of games if her current job was anything to go by.

Everyone asked for a photo with Cynthia as they passed by, grabbed a copy of one of the games, and headed off about their business. The light outside started to dim as the day came to a close. The manager walked up to the champion and placed a hand on her shoulders. "That wasn't so bad of a job was it?" He asked. "It wasn't so bad, maybe I wasn't the most comfortable with doing this, but it wasn't horrid," Cynthia said. "Well, don't expect it to always be this nice, working in retail is a bitch sometimes," the manager backed off from Cynthia. "Now you can clock out and get going, see you tomorrow!" The champion waved before going to explore the rest of New York City.

Dan sat down on the floor while he got his shoes on. "I'm heading to work," Dan said while Chris was right behind him getting ready. "Alright, I'll get groceries then," Chris said before finally getting his shoes on. Ninetales walked up to the door like a dog, expecting to join either human when they went about their day. "Ninetales, you can't come with me. Unless you want me to get yelled at for having a fox at the cash register," Daniel said. He patted his fox on the head a couple times. "Hey Chris, do you have work today?" Daniel asked. "Nope, I got lucky with a day off for today, you need me to keep watch over your Pokemon?" Daniel shook his head. "I know Vulpix won't break anything and I know Ninetales is smart enough not to open the window and jump out of it. I just need you to keep them company while I'm working," Daniel said. "Alright, so do I hold off on groceries for now or…" Daniel gave his friend a glare. "You're getting groceries, I don't think we got enough sausages to feed both Pokemon," he said. Chris flashed a thumb's up before heading out the door.

Ninetales whined when the door shut, now he was home alone, save for Vulpix. Maybe he can try and get the fox to play with him again. "So our humans are gone for the day?" The fox turned around to see Vulpix. "Yeah, Daniel went off to work and the other human went grocery shopping. So we can at least expect the other one to come back relatively soon," Ninetales answered. "We could take this opportunity to get to know each other better, since we've known each other for about two days… and we're both basically strangers despite us sharing a pack," Vulpix said. Ninetales followed the smaller fox over to the couch, both laid down and faced each other. "So, you mind telling me how old you are?" Ninetales asked. It couldn't have been that old, after all, Vulpix wasn't anywhere near as big as he was when he was a Vulpix. "Well, I'm about a year and a half? Two years? I just separated from my parents before the light came out of nowhere. I'm willing to bet you're like 20 years old," Vulpix said.

The Fox shook his head. "I'm half a century old at this point, I spent almost all 50 years alone," Ninetales said. "And that loneliness drove you to find Daniel?" Ninetales shook his head. "I just wanted some kind of company, trainer, pack, mate, even an adopted kit. It just happened that I found Daniel in this world and I thought he was nice. So now I'm his Pokemon now," Ninetales said. "And you dragged me into the car because of that too?" Vulpix asked. "My body did that on its own, I guess you're still technically a child, so I guess I got another form of company. Vulpix nodded before standing up and laying next to Ninetales' belly. "Well, is there anything else I should know about you… like why you broke off from your mom? I know Vulpix doesn't leave their mother that early," Ninetales said. The fox went quiet when that question popped up. "I… humans showed up yelling and screaming. My Mom left me in a bush somewhere… I don't know if she's alive anymore," Vulpix said quietly. Ninetales pulled his friend closer. "I'm sorry," Vulpix interrupted the Ninetales. "It wasn't your fault… Just can we move on from this? I don't want to remember this," Vulpix whimpered.

This was the first time the fox had whined, not even when he was scared to death of Daniel after watching the news. Sure, he did cry, but that's different. Ninetales licked the top of Vulpix's head and laid on top of him. "Just know that I am here for you when you need it," Ninetales said. Vulpix nodded, before allowing the fox to cuddle up with him.
