Chapter 7, 1.6

'You know, I am incredibly lucky that the protectorate allowed me to have some freedom in comparison to the other characters of worm... it is because I am a whole different species, and they do not know what my limits are when it comes to anger.' I thought to myself.

Given the fact that I was once a former crime fighter, jumping right back in after a long time would be a pain in the butt... if I didn't get a say in anything. You see, unlike case 53's, I have more freedom because I currently have diplomatic immunity due to my nature of being from another universe. Unlike case 53's, I remember everything about my life, my world, myself, and many other things. I also once held a position of power, but I didn't tell them that if my people ever did find out that I was still alive, they'd force me back into the position, with or without my say in the matter. The reason I didn't tell anyone here this, is simple: I wanted to be treated normally... well as normally as a multiversal traveler can get.

From what I remember, there was a character named Glenn, and if I remember correctly, they were the head of public relations. Given the fact that without a mask, I'm still intimidating and would scare the kiddies, they told Glenn to shove it. And by "they" I meant me, because other than the lack of an identity that doesn't need protection, there are other reasons for me to wear one. Three reasons to be exact.

Reason one: I don't wanna scare or scar any children with my raptor like head. Yes, I understand that young boys love dinosaurs, but no, they don't even know that dinosaurs, a majority of which, are extremely dangerous. Has no one ever watched Jurassic Park here? Or looked at some dinosaurs and considered: "Oh, this herbivore dinosaur with plated armor must have been paranoid like a rhinoceros and wouldn't take a chance with an animal that is human shaped, it'd also most likely cause a lot of collateral damage?". Like seriously, dinosaurs can be extremely dangerous, and Saurians are already a mix of several hundreds of DNA from Dinosaurs and other extinct creatures with human DNA.

Now onto reason number two: I need protection for my head, so why not my helmet that I crash landed with? Because the protectorate doesn't make things in Saurian shape and my helmet is somewhat repairable.

And finally, reason number three: I do what I want. That's it, that's all there is to reason three, I've fought of my own species and plenty of humans to know that I get more say in my appearance to the public. Oh, and I also fought in a massive war, so in my case, I am a veteran turned superhero.

Though I do believe that the ability to breathe fire is a valid enough reason to fit in a reason number four. Since we're in Brockton Bay, where there's like a lot of people who have pyrokinesis in some shape or form, after all.

Thanks to my incredible luck, Dragon also managed to finish that prosthetic leg faster than I expected.

Unfortunately for me... my luck didn't go that far for me. I must play babysitter with Armsmaster. Due to me having not been in the crime fighting business in a long time, the protectorate has decided that I could be chosen as an overseer for the wards here in Brockton Bay... great, have to deal with superpowered teenagers now.

'Hmm, I wonder what date it is?' I thought, as I looked over to the calendar, from working on the repairs of my jetpack. I had all my armor fixed by this point, except for my jetpack, so I had at least everything in order.

When my eyes landed on the calendar, I saw the current date...

January the third... which is... when Taylor triggers. Or roughly when she triggers, I think it was never clearly stated in worm. Maybe I... should do something.

But I could ask Armsmaster about the wards schooling situation. Specifically, Shadow Stalkers. But they had already given me the files-based on each of the wards, though some parts may be redacted, even though I know stuff that I shouldn't know in the first place. Because Sophia FUCKING Hess is the root of all of Taylor's problems with being social in life, and is Taylor's tormentor, I could, I don't know... run interference?

Though, I do think each of the wards have a differing view on me, given what they were allowed to know. Clockblocker is fine in my books, and he respects me to the point of making up new jokes to see what I think of them. Vista, well I respect her, and she respects me, age doesn't mean everything to a saurian, because due to our long lifespan, we're guaranteed to have a lot of experience in whatever field that a saurian goes into, age is not really a divider, since most elderly humans that were infected by the virus that began the Saurian people had reverted to a state of their prime, since saurians live for around four hundred years, so with Vista having been in a lot of situations and being the most experienced of the wards, I treat her with respect. Gallant is a gentleman, unfortunately he would die in the leviathan attack... 'I need to think up a strategy against the endbringers don't I? Well yes of course, but back on topic!' I thought to myself. Gallant most likely saw many of my emotions, and probably hasn't told anyone what I truly felt having survived that trip between universes. Aegis... nice kid, but same with Gallant, he too was going to perish in the leviathan attack. Browbeat had yet to become a parahuman if I remembered correctly. There's Kid win, nice kid and all, too focused on finding out what his specialization, he's a nice helper when I'm working on my jetpack. Then there was shadow stalker, who disliked me just as she did with everyone... her philosophy about predator and prey destroying any chances of getting off on a good start.

I am going to have to be honest here, I despise her, and everything she stands for. Her mentality was just close to Torr-khan's "political" views. Only difference is that with Torr-khan, the weak should serve the strong or die. Sophia just believes in predator and prey mentality like a blind individual.

Now back to the present, where I was working on my jetpack in a tinker workshop, all alone. I had thought about asking kid win to pass me tools to work on the jet pack, but he was at school right now.

"Ok... this part goes there... and this pipe goes here... hmm, I need a wrench that can do this... blah blah..." I spoke out loud, grabbing tools and parts of variety to fix my jetpack. The tinkers offered to repair and even upgrade it, but I rejected their offers. The reason behind that is, well, if the thing ever broke again, I'd have no clue to fix it.

Apparently, due to me being distracted from my work, at some point, the wards got back from school... except for shadow stalker... I don't even bother to keep track on her.

"So... are you a tinker? Or something?" asked Kid win who came in undetected by me, which startled me.

"ANCESTORS! SAY SOMETHING WHEN YOU ANSWER FOR FU- oh kid win, it's you, don't startle me like that!" I yelled, as I shot up from my work, "No, I'm not a tinker, kid." I answered as I sighed.

He then tilted his head, "Then how do know how to build a jetpack like that?" he asked.

I then stared at him, judgingly, "It's because my universe is ahead of yours in the time scale, like 90 years or so. If I am correct, it would be 2101 instead of 2100 now, since new year's happened. We would of course have extreme advanced technology or advanced technology in general. Like stellar travel, Prosthetic limbs, giant walkers that served as base of operations, airships and energy-based melee weaponry and all that sorts. If you could please hand me that screwdriver." I explained raising an opened hand of mine.

"What do you mean by giant walkers? What did your people use them for?" he asked as he passed me the screwdriver.

"The giant walkers were used as a center of operations during critical battles. Though if I remember correctly, they were called Wolf Spiders. Named after the wolf spider, which was known to carry its offspring on their backs. Hence why they were called wolf spiders. We developed them around... uh... halfway through the war. Say what time is it?" I explained to him, then asked him a question about the time.

"Oh, it's 3:00 pm, why do you ask?" he asked.

'Oh no... Taylors most likely trapped in the locker as of the moment... But it could be said that her triggering is needed to save everyone- almost everyone, from scion... but who's to say that my presence hasn't already messed up the future... that reminds me, make sure Dinah Alcott is protected from that bond villain wannabee, Coil... ok, I need to do something.' I thought to myself.

"Oh no reason, really." I replied.

Then Armsmaster came in the workshop. He turned to look at me and what I was doing for a few seconds before speaking, "Saurian it's your time to make your debut and go on patrol, remember, this is going to be your first debut to the public, don't mess this up." he told me.

I got up from what I was working, "Alright, guess I can return to you later jetpack. I'm going to put my armor on before I head out." I spoke as I left the room.

As I made my way to my room where my armor was stored. I also ended up overhearing the rest of the wards having a conversation. And that conversation was also about me.

"So, what do you guys think about Saurian? I'll be honest, he's pretty chill." Clockblocker said. Then the others replied.

"He's an ok individual, from the looks of it." Aegis said. When I reached my room, Vista was the next one to speak up.

"He's... he respects me... and he's an ok man." vista commented. That was when I reached the armor stand, then started to don my armor.

'I wonder if I can do anything for Taylor?' I thought to myself.

Meanwhile...

Point of view: Spite

"Mom, why do we have to go to the doctor today? Why wasn't I told about it? Why didn't you tell me about it?" I questioned my mother, as we drove to the doctor. Today was the day that Taylor would trigger, and she wouldn't know where I am, which possibly may affect her trigger... which might give her a different set of powers if I think about it, which could doom everything.

Mom didn't say anything, and continued driving. 'I swear if my suspicions are correct, it could mean that cauldron doesn't want me interfering with at least one thing, and I swear, my adoptive mother could seriously be an anonymous member of cauldron. But if that was the case, why would my mom even adopt me... you know what... I do not want to know the answer that question just yet.' I thought.

I just hope that Taylor wouldn't hold anything against me.

Back with Claw...

As I finished putting my armor on, I moved to look over the wards, whose conversation about me turned into an argument about pineapple pizza... somehow.

On one side were the pineapple supporters, consisting of Vista and Aegis and Gallant. The anti-Pineapple haters consisted of clockblocker and Kid win and of course we have a visitor in the shape of Glory Girl.

"PINEAPPLE ON PIZZA IS A DISGRACE TO THE ITALLIAN PEOPLE YOU MONSTERS!" yelled clockblocker as he huddled on one side of the room and apparently there was a fort that was constructed... 'What?' I thought.

On the other side of the room, Aegis yelled back, "IT DOESN'T MATTER ABOUT THE ITALLIANS, PLUS, IT'S NOT UP TO YOU TO DECIDE WHAT KIND OF PIZZA WE WANT!" he yelled.

Then Glory Girl yelled at Gallant, "WHY DO YOU DO THIS TO ME, DEAN?!" she yelled as she threw a slice of pizza at her boyfriend.

'So, this is what the wards are like...' I thought to myself, but I should probably stop this before someone loses an arm... and that someone isn't Aegis.

"Ok, that's enough! Why are you fighting over pizza?" I yelled and glared at each and every single one of them.

Then, a slice of pizza hit my face... it had come from the direction of Glory Girl... luckily it was a slice of pepperoni pizza, my favorite. I grabbed the slice and took a bite out of it. And then the taste hit me, a taste I haven't tasted in a long time.

"Man, it's been a long time since I had a slice of pizza!" I commented.

Everyone was quiet for a while as a I finished eating the pizza slice.

Then clockblocker made a comment, "When was the last time you had pizza?" he asked.

"Oh, the last time I had a slice of pizza was like, at the early years of the war, when the enemy set up several thousand terrorist attacks towards all pizza shops and companies and the suppliers to pizza companies." I commented.

Then Glory Girl spoke, "Well, your earth sounds like shit. Remind me to never go there." she stated.

"Anyways, I'm going out on patrol, which one of you want to go out and be a hero today?" I asked, possibly intending to involve one of them in rescuing Taylor from the locker.

"Sure, I could go and help patrol with you." Clockblocker said.

'Hmm, what could he do to help Taylor? I don't know, maybe freeze Emma for a while.' I thought.
