TYWIN LANNISTER

The Lord of Casterly Rock, Warden of the West, Tywin Lannister did not tolerate fools or weakness. He is a hard ruthless man and ruled the richest family in the Westeros. His late wife Joanna died giving birth to his son Tyrion Lannister, the Imp of Casterly Rock, as some people referred to him as. There was also his twin children, Cersei the eldest and Queen of Westeros; and Ser Jaime Lannister of the Kingsguard.

His daughter Cersei reminded him too much of his wife physically and it hurt too much to deal with her; he loved her, but she was a constant reminder of the woman he lost. His son Jaime, he cared about, but his words had fallen on def ears. All Jaime cared about was being a Knight or glorified bodyguard as he called it.

Then there is the youngest Tyrion. Tyrion had been born a dwarf, with stunted legs, a large head and short arms. His wife died bringing the little monster into the world and with her last breath named him Tyrion. Tywin had little to nothing to do with his son Tyrion. His son Jaime loved Tyrion like a true brother. Tywin's sister Genna and his brother Gerion loved Tyrion as well. He would never admit it, but Tywin admired Tyrion's intelligence.

Tyrion had come to Casterly Rock for Genna's name day. Though he preferred to stay in the family mansion in King's Landing. "Hello father."

Tywin is in his solar going over reports, "How long are you staying?" He asks without looking up.

"I will be gone three days after Aunt Genna's name day feast. Unless you want me to stay longer."

He does not reply. Tyrion always had a quick tongue and smart mouth to boot. In that regard he is a lot like Gerion, who is always making jokes. Tywin keeps working and doesn't say another word. With his son Tyrion at the rock, Tywin takes his meals alone. Casterly Rock has fifteen hundred rooms, not including the other rooms like the kitchens, the library and such.

The next day while on his way to the training yard, Tywin is approached by a guard. "M'lord, there is a man here, by the name Garret. He's from Horn Hill and wishes to speak with you."

"Horn Hill? Bring him to my Solar."

"Yes m'lord."

Garret is tall, muscular, with red hair, and green eyes. "M'lord. Thank you for seeing me. I was instructed by Lord Tarly to deliver this letter to you."

Tywin takes the letter, breaks the seal and reads in silence. He is shocked and intrigued by what the letter says. "Do you know what this says?"

"No m'lord...I was not told."

"And your instructions for after giving me the letter?"

"I am to wait here if you agree and if not return to Horn Hill."

Tywin summons a servant to see to comfort of Garret and his men. Then he summons his brothers and sister to his solar. "Well, my curiosity is peeked." Garion says after reading the letter.

"But two vaults of gold...No I say one or nothing." Kevan says.

"Are you insane?" Genna asks, "We'll have the other eight vaults and the mines. We cannot pass this deal up."

"Yeah, but two vaults of treasure. One vault holds at least two stacks of gold bars. Ten across and ten high, then there is the gold dragons, silver, and jewelry."

"You forget the Valyrian sword the Reyne's have. Red Lion will be ours. I am making the deal." A raven is sent, but Samwell Tarly arrives two days later. He rides into Casterly Rock's courtyard with a thousand men, all mounted and two hundred of them are armed with odd looking weapons. There are also wagons carrying strange objects. "Welcome to Casterly Rock Lord Tarly. On behalf of my family, condolences on your father."

The Lord of Horn Hill is young and fat. Samwell surprises Tywin when he dismounts his horse without using a step ladder. He approaches Tywin with another young man. "Thank you, Lord Tywin for receiving me."

"I had just sent the raven three days ago with a favorable reply and here you are."

"I hope I haven't offended you, my Lord. I figured you would agree, so I left a few days after Garret did."

"The hospitality of Casterly Rock is yours my lord. Welcome as my guest." He introduces his brothers, sister, to his disgust his sister's husband, his nieces and nephews.

"I am honored to meet you all. If you will my lord, I bought you all gifts." He gives Tywin a set of armor, made of Amorite and a horse. He gives horses to his brothers and brother by law, the horses had been bred by Willas Tyrell the best horse, hound, and hawk breeder in the seven Kingdoms. Dress designs and fabrics are given to Genna, toys for the children, and oakwood bows for the older children.

"What do you think of him?" Tywin asks Kevan and Gerion as Genna shows Sam to his room and Ser Addam Captain of the House Guards take the Tarly men to the guest barracks.

"Seems like a good lad." Gerion says.

"He's a boy and if he doesn't have the right people around him, House Tarly will fall." Kaven says.

"We shall see."

"Did you see those strange weapons some of his men carried?" Gerion asks.

"Yes, I did." Tywin says with a calculating voice. Later he hears from one of his agents in the Reach and learns that the weapons are called bolt casters.

SAM

After getting settled Sam goes to library after getting directions from the servant that had been assigned to him. "You must be Tyrion Lannister." He says finding him in the library.

"I must be, and you are Samwell Tarly Lord of Horn Hill." They shake hands, "An honor to meet you, my lord."

"And you as well Lord Tyrion." He gestures to the book Tyrion is reading. "What are you reading?"

"The reign of Dragons by Maester Noryn Targaryen."

"Yes, I have read that book four times."

"Wow, this is my second time."

Sam smiles, "I'm hope I am not disturbing you."

"Not at all. Is there something in particular you are looking for?"

"Yes and no. I am looking for something I have never read before. I have read every book at Horn Hill and many from High Garden."

"A fellow bibliophile." Tyrion says in excitement. A bond forms quickly as they search the library for books Sam wants to have transcribed and sent to Horn Hill. Sam is invited to eat evening meal with the family. The next day Sam shows the Lannisters his plan to remove the water from Castamere.

Two days later they leave Casterly Rock and head to Castamere. The trip takes three weeks. As soon as they arrive Sam has his men construct the devices to be used to get the water out. Tyrion had come to see Sam's invention in action. He had billows made that are ten times the normal size. He also has wooden pipes attached. The billows work in reverse pulling the water out of the Castle and its mines.

With the amount of equipment Sam bought, the water is removed after two days of pumping. Then Tywin's men start removing the dead bodies to be buried in a mass grave. The two vaults Sam choses has chests of gold, silver, jeweles and one has two stacks of gold bars and the other has one stack of gold and silver.

The treasure is loaded up on wagons, he is ready to leave. Sam finds Tywin in one of the other vaults watching as his men count the gold. "My Lord, my treasure is loaded up and I am ready to depart."

"A word in private before you go Lord Tyrell."

"Of course."

They walk to the entrance of the mines. "I have noticed the weapons some of your men carry. Bolt casters...would you consider selling to me?"

"I am sorry my lord. I am only selling to the Reach and the East."

"You should consider selling to west. I'll pay twice what you charge."

Sam whistles, "I will think about it. Speak with my advisors and send you my answer my lord."

"I hope your answer is yes."

As he is leaving the vaults Sam runs into Tyrion. "Lord Tyrion...I was hoping to see you again."

"So was I."

"Why not join me at Horn Hill. We'll have more time to talk."

Tyrion smiles, "I may just do that. But I need to see my aunt again."

"Horn Hill awaits your presence my lord." They shake hands before parting ways. As they ride into Horn Hill with the wagons of treasure, his family stares in awe at the wagons of treasure that follow Sam in. After speaking to his family and advisors Sam decides not to sell House Lannister bolt casters.

A week after returning home, a representative from the Iron Bank arrives. The Tarlys give him the best food and wine. Then they make their demonstration and propose a deal. The representative agrees to a sixty forty split in favor of House Tarly. "You my brother have made this family very rich and powerful." Dickon says toasting Sam with a goblet of juice. He is not old enough for wine.

"To House Tarly." Sam replies with his own goblet of juice.
