If you are reading this, then I assume that you are a fan of Homestuck, like me, you found out about the series and love it, probably had the same idea of 'is there any fanfiction crossovers of Homestuck' and decided to look it up. And upon this search, you found this fanfiction that caught your interest.

You might also be one of the fans who follow me from my other works, such as my most successful fanfiction 'MHA watches the MCU', which after doing a lot of writing from that had helped me understand the structure of reaction storytelling.

you might also be someone who just look up Whynot over at MSPFA and saw the Link in the Adventure info and found this fanfiction.

Or you just stumble upon this fanfiction with no actual reason or randomly search for one.

Either way, you are reading this and it would be surprising if you're still reading this far.

Allow me to explain why the hell this fanfiction exist?

Just as the title read, Whynot?

Actually, the reason for that title is because I was trying to figure out a good tile that fits with the theme of 'Homestuck' and in the end, I decided with 'Whynot'.

Anyway, here is the premise of this story.

(I&G) 1: Premise

What is this story about? What's the themes or type of story.

Well, it's a little complicated and sounds like I am going to make a very conflicted story that makes absolutely no sense given its nature.

Then again, that's also what Homestuck is about.

Here's the catch. I am going to have cartoon characters read Homestuck and have them react to them.

And not just a group or a single person, but characters from different shows.

Just because the next chapter is already out, I am going to give away one of them.

The story will start with Dipper Pines from Gravity Falls and I will add more characters as the story progresses.

Not only I'm going to have these reactions happening, but I will also put them in a Homestuck scenario. They are going to go for a wild ride for this one. This would mean that a meteor is going to crash onto where the Mystery Shack is. The same goes with future characters and their places and they too would play the strange game. Only using the Homestuck story as their way to give hints to what they're supposed to do and how to win the game.

Because Whynot?

If I have to say it in a singular sentence, here's how I would say it:

'Let's make cartoon characters read Homestuck and react to it and then put them in a Homestuck scenario only using the story as their guideline because Whynot?!'

Yep, I know it sounds silly but I AM DOING THIS!

So with that out of the way, allow me to put some rules in the story so I can keep truthful for what I'm going to bring.

(I&G) 2: Rules

Rule 1: The cartoon characters are based on how much I know about them and if they fit with the character in the Homestuck story, like a counterpart, so for example for Dipper, he would be the counterpart to John Egbert. So if you are going to suggest to me a character to be put in this story, please think about the existing characters. (like who do you think would be the best counterpart for Dave and Jane.) I'll do the trolls too… maybe, I am currently reading act 5 and I don't know if it would be worth it that is yet to be decided. What I'm NOT going to do is the card gang, the king and queen, underlings or the wastelanders in the future. the sprites, the guardians will be from the main characters (meaning the Guardian and sprite for Dipper will come from Gravity Falls. And so on…)

UPDATE ON RULE 1 as of 26/05/2021: okay, change of plans, I decided NOT to do counterparts, since I found out more on how the game sessions of Homestuck works and with the characters I'm considering, I realize that making counterparts will be difficult. So I decided not to do counterparts, but stick with the closest to counterparts.

Rule 2: For you to read this story, I recommend reading Homestuck AND this fanfiction at the same time, each reaction will have a page number which is where they're on, just like my other fanfiction and to prevent copyright problems, I am not going to copy and paste the story into this fanfiction. In other words. You got a heck ton of reading if you follow these guidelines. And if you have a problem with it, then I recommend not reading this.

Rule 3: I will have reactions of each character, in addition, I will make [OS-N] as a form of page reading of what they're doing outside of reading the story. Don't worry about time because nobody can read the story until they can read they all click the same button with an indication that they're ready.

Rule 4: This story is going to be crazy. Unlike the writer of Homestuck, there isn't going to be much planning, I haven't made a very elaborate scheme that put everything together, I am just writing as I go along with their reaction. I am an explorer, not a planner.

Rule 5: I will go up to 50 pages per chapter or until the act ends (for example with Act 1, which has 247 pages, this would mean Act 1 will have 5 parts with part 5 having 47 pages) this way, I can have things in an orderly fashion, though this might change with the random numbers like 47, (meaning Act 2, part 1 will be from 48 – 98) this is how I'm going to do this so shut up.

Rule 6: I'm just having fun with this concept so let's just see how it goes.

Rule 7: I am NOT on drugs!

RULE 8: any swear words are censored so this book can stay in its rating, I don't care if the story has swears, it's just how I do it

rule 9: fudge it! I am going to just to use this as nothing more than a template for my MSPFA fanventure that I am working on, if you want to see picture of it, go over there!
