In Canterlot

The older princess of Equestria, Celestia, sighs as she rereads the scroll in front of her. She can't believe this!

"Sister, is that a letter from Twilight Sparkle?" Celestia's younger sister asks excitedly with a bat of her eyes. Celestia sighs as she puts the scroll down on the table in front of her and shakes her head at the dark blue pony, oh how she wishes it was from her purple pony who looks up to the older princess, the younger pony hangs onto every word she hears coming out of the princesses mouth.

"No little sister, it is not, it's a letter from Shining Armor, her brother. Something terrible has happened to his parents and himself so I need Twilight here but I can't bear to bring myself to tear her away from her new friends right now, she's just got settled in Ponyville. It took her a long time to make friends as I just think that disrupting her newfound friendships will cause her to isolate herself again." Celestia says with worry in her voice as she thinks about the six ponies who she saw laughing and playing with each other at the Summer Sun Celebration not so long ago.

Twilight Sparkle is a polite, gentle and caring unicorn, just not very sociable. She'd prefer to be in the library studying magic rather than playing with friends, Celestia was getting worried about the unicorn spending so much time cooped up in the library, that was one of the main reasons she sent her student to Ponyville to check on the preparations for the Summer Sun celebration and to make friends and she did, she made friends with five ponies: two Earth ponies, two Pegasi and one Unicorn.

"If I may, sister, why don't you invite the ponies and Spike here, that way you're not disrupting Twilight and her newfound friends, you can talk to her while the ponies enjoy the castle? I mean we do have room for extra guests." Luna says softly. Celestia giggles before rubbing a hoof over her sister's mane. "Good idea little sister, I'll write to Twilight and ask her to come with her friends today as this matter can't wait any longer." Using her horn, Celestia uses a quill to write a letter to her student.

Meanwhile in Ponyville

Twilight Sparkle chases Pinkie Pie around the park while Applejack, Rarity, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy and Spike watch.

Having heard the familiar burp come from her baby dragon, Twilight stops chasing the pink pony around and looks at Spike who reads the unexpected letter aloud.

My beloved student Twilight Sparkle..

I need you and your friends to come to Canterlot immediately, I need you here tonight at the latest. I know this may come as an inconvenience to you but I wouldn't ask this of you if it wasn't of dire importance.

Please my little pony, I need you.

Twilight doesn't move for several minutes after Spike reads the letter from Princess Celestia. What could possibly be so urgent that the princess could want her and her friends in the capital of Equestria by tonight without any real explanation?

Looking at her five pony friends, the purple unicorn doesn't need to say anything to her friends: they know what she's about to say. As her pony friends race home, Twilight and Spike make their way to the train station, wondering why the eldest princess wants her and her friends at the Canterlot palace so soon.
