AN: Hey, I'm back! Not from the dead, though. And I'm here with my first ever romance fanfiction! It's Babs and Kara from DCSHG 2019. They're very cute together and I felt the urge to write a story about them.

A few things first. One, and least important, Nygma Hotel is NOT DEAD. It is being worked on, and you can expect Chapter 7 this month.

Two, this was written in collaboration with someone I am very close to in real life, Silver The Archer. Check out her profile if you want; she's written some great FNAF stories.

With all that said and done, let's get on with the fluff.

New Year's Eve was always a great time for Kara. Well, mostly with friends. Sure, spending time with her parents was always okay (though she could have done without the whole 'look how far you've come' thing), but there were rules there. She couldn't drink alcohol, had to spend all her time with her parents, and half the time, she couldn't even see the fireworks. Sure she could fly up, but she didn't want anyone to know about her powers.

However, with friends, it was a blast. They'd crack jokes, go somewhere where they could actually see the fireworks and drink a bit. Thankfully, her parents never noticed that she had been drinking. Being a Kryptonian apparently made it so that it took a lot to get her tipsy, so all she had to do was not get too close to her parents so that they wouldn't notice her breath smelling like whiskey or beer.

Either way, this was her first New Year's Eve party with the rest of the Super Hero Girls. They had gone to Zee's house for the occasion, mainly because it would be easy to spot the fireworks, with them making a promise to watch them together. She had brought the booze for the rest of them. At first, Jess was adamant about not drinking. Something about 'sticking to her morals', but after thirty minutes, she caved in and decided to make an exception for this night. The night was going great, too. They watched some TV, played some games and generally had fun.

"Y'know Diana," Kara said, leaning up against a wall. "Call me sappy or cheesy or whatever, but this night has been awesome." She brought the cup she had up to her lips, chugging whatever was left in it.

"Yes, this night has been one I am thankful to experience with you," Diana replied, smiling. "I believe this may be one of my favourite World of Man traditions." She looked at Kara. "How much have you had to drink?"

Kara just shrugged. "Eh, only like… ten drinks?"

"Ten?" Diana's brow furrowed in concern. "Kara, is that not unhealthy? I mean, I can handle it, as an Amazon, but…"

Kara groaned. She did not want to be lectured. Her parents did enough of that. She brought a finger up to Diana's lips. "I'm a Kryptonian. I can handle it as well. Besides, have you seen Jess? If anything, she's the one you should be worried about."

Diana looked past Kara, prompting her to follow her gaze. On the sofa, Jess was caressing Zee's face, laughing about something and muttering to herself. Zee awkwardly smiled as she nodded to whatever it was Jess was talking about. Kara smiled a little. Only a few drinks and Jess was nearly an entirely different person. It was kind of funny.

Diana just nodded. "I see." With that, she walked over to Karen, who was sitting on a beanbag drinking a milkshake. Kara looked at her phone. 11:00 PM. Cool. Just enough time to play some video games and-

"Karaaaaa!"

The sound of her name being called made Kara turn around. She knew that voice. Before she could even spot her, she felt someone crash into her. Looking down, she saw the bat-eared purple hoodie she saw nearly every day. Babs.

Kara's smirk broke into a full-on grin. "Hey, Babs." She ruffled the top of her head. "I was wondering where you were."

Babs didn't seem to register her at first. But after a few seconds, she looked up at Kara. A wide, dopey smile was spread across her face. "Pshaw, it's fiiine. I mean, 's'not like I left the building…" She stepped away from her, taking a sip from the cup she had.

Kara's smile shrunk a little. "Uh… how many drinks have you had, sweetie?"

Babs just threw her head back and laughed. "Ah, just three! Or was it… four? Five? Meh, stopped countin' afta three." She chuckled again, quieter this time. "Shtuff's pretty good."

Kara kneeled down to her level, sniffing her breath. The smell of tequila hit her at full blast, making her step back. "Jeez, Babs, that smell alone could kill a horse."

Babs giggled. "Oops!" She shrugged. "Might as well keep going now."

"Okay, okay." Kara put an arm around her and led her over to the couch. Babs got away from her and flopped down, landing right in Jess's lap. Jess yelped as Babs laughed, then began laughing herself. Soon the both of them were hysterical.

Kara looked at Zee, who just shrugged. "I don't know," she said. "Jess has just kind of been laughing at anything for a while. This isn't anything new."

Just as Kara was debating whether to pull them apart or video it for Supersta, the undeniably cheesy notes of Up Past Eight blared from the speaker. She whipped around to see Karen standing by it, smirking as she held up her phone which was now connected to the speaker.

"Aw, come on, Karen," Kara half-heartedly protested as Babs jumped up off the couch, running over to Karen. Zee grinned and followed her, snapping her fingers and spinning around. Jess was the last to get up, stumbling across the room as she blinked a couple of times, eyes wide.

"Yeah!" Zee knocked back what was left of glass of wine in one gulp - impressive for a mortal, Kara had to admit - and threw her hands up in the air. "I am Dionysus, god of wine!"

Babs squealed with laughter, throwing her arms around Zee. "And I'm Dionysus's friend!"

The room erupted with laughter as the girls started to dance, even Diana getting into it. Kara watched and smiled, tapping her feet and nodding her head just so she'd be included - and yeah, okay, maybe the stupid music was a little catchy. Maybe the alcohol had more impact than she realised.

"Jesssssss!" Babs swung around and grabbed Jess's hands. "Dance with me! Kara hates this song."

Jess didn't need to be told twice. She started spinning around faster than Kara realised anyone could, speeding up and up until she and Babs were basically a blur. Even so, Kara could still see Babs so clearly: bright red hair fanning out around her as her hood fell down, the cutest smile that could probably bring about world peace or something, her little legs moving faster than seemed possible…

Crash! She was snapped out of her little daydream when they slammed into a wall, falling straight down onto their asses. Kara ran over, followed by the other three.

"Oh, Babs!" Jess's hand flew to her mouth. "I'm so sorry."

"I think I broke my butt," said Babs, deadpan. That set Jess off laughing again, which in turn had Babs laughing. She lay down on the floor, mouth open wide as she laughed.

Kara rolled her eyes as she picked Babs up.

"Woo-hoo!" Babs yelled. "Flyin'!"

"Yeah, yeah." Kara quickly slung Babs over her shoulder.

"C'moooon, Kara!" She heard Babs say. "What's the issue? You… youse jelly?"

"Jealous?" Kara set Babs down. "Okay, let me get one thing straight."

"Sooo, not me?"

"No. And I'm serious."

"Then 'm listening."

Kara couldn't help but smile. "I'm not jealous of anyone. Well, except maybe Superman. But Jess?" She placed a hand on her shoulder. "If you're trying to get a rise out of me, it's not working."

Babs's smiled again, pulling Kara into a hug. "'S'okay, babe. Just tryin' ta have a bitta fun. Sides, Jess ain't even that hot."

Kara cracked a smile, patting her on the head. "Good to know." She grabbed her arm. "Come on, let's play some video games."

"Don't gotta tell me twice!"

"Hey, Kara?"

Kara turned to Babs, who was currently splayed across Zee's bed after their gaming session. "Uh, yeah?"

"When did…" Babs paused, rolling over to face her. "When did you shtart to find me… y'know…"

Kara just stared at her. "Find you what?"

"Y'know! Pretty, cute, attractive… That stuff!"

That question caught Kara off-guard. "Uh…" She awkwardly played with her fingers. "Do you need to know?"

This response strangely seemed to offset Babs's mood. She started to pout as she put on the 'sad eyes'. "Huh? Are you saying…"

Crap. Kara quickly held up her hands. "No! No! That's not what I'm saying." Jeez, how was she supposed to word this? "I'm just saying…"

She didn't finish her sentence upon seeing Babs's face again. Her pout had only grown more pronounced and her 'sad eyes' had just gotten… well, sadder. Kara silently cursed herself. Now, at least to her, she needed to answer the question before Babs melted into a puddle of sadness.

"Well, I think it was that one time I went to that burrito place you work at. When I saw you in that uniform, I…" She felt her face start to heat up. God, this was awkward. "I just thought you looked really cute."

Babs just stared at her, seeming to take in what she had said. Kara bit her lip. Had she said the right thing? Was that okay?

Thankfully, in just a few seconds, Babs's smile returned. "Awwww, that's sweet! Thanks babe!" She scooched over to Kara, resting her head on her shoulder. "Your shoulder's pretty soft…"

Kara laughed softly. "Well, thanks. And here I thought my skin was hard."

Babs just nuzzled her face in more. "Mmm…" She lifted her head to grab the cup of tequila she had on the floor and emptied it all into her mouth.

Kara turned to look at her. "What number's that now?"

Babs looked up at her, just smirking. "Psh. Aw. I'm totally fine. Do I look like a gal who can't hold her…"

She paused, the smile slipping off her face. Her eyes widened slightly as she clutched her stomach.

Kara's eyes burst open. "Sweetie?"

Babs just groaned as she looked at Kara. "Ugh… jeez, my stomach hurts like hell." She then placed a hand over her mouth, continuing to groan.

Kara quickly took her hand. "Alright, come with me." She stood up and began dragging Babs forward. She just needed to get to the bathroom before-

She bumped into something. "Hey!"

Or someone. Kara looked down to see Karen, who was currently wiping some punch off her sweater.

Kara sighed. "Aw jeez, sorry."

Karen just groaned. "No no, it's okay. I've got a few wipes." She pulled out one and began wiping. She looked back up at Kara, her brow knitting in concern. "Is Babs okay? She's looking a little pale."

"I know, I know!" Kara replied. She couldn't just stand here. "Where's the bathroom again?"

"Down the hall to the left."

Kara muttered a barely audible 'thank you' as she rushed forward, continuing to keep her grip on Babs. Soon, she had reached the bathroom. Kicking open the door, she led Babs over to the toilet.

"OK," Kara said. "Just let it all out if you need to."

"Kara, uh'm fine, I-" Before Babs could finish her sentence, she covered her mouth. She leaned over the toilet and Kara quickly ran over to her. The sound of Babs's stomach rumbling grew louder as Kara placed a hand on her back.

"Babs, you're okay," Kara reassured. "You just need to stay calm and-"

She didn't get to finish before Babs promptly vomited into the toilet. Kara cringed as she took a step back, letting the redhead empty her stomach. After what felt like a good few minutes, but was really just around five seconds, Babs fell silent, still kneeling over the toilet.

Kara approached her. "Are… are you okay now?"

Babs just lifted her head. "Mmm… little bit." She groaned as she slid down to the ground. "Any mouthwash here?"

Kara opened a cupboard over the sink, quickly spotting it. "Here you go," she said, tossing it to Babs. Surely Zee wouldn't mind Babs using her mouthwash. OK, maybe she would a little, but she'd understand. Probably.

After a few minutes of Babs using the mouthwash, along with using some fragrant wipes to clean the bit of vomit off her face, she spat into the sink and turned to face Kara. Thankfully, she was looking a little more lively, with her face being less pale. A small smile was on her face.

"Thanks, Kara," Babs said, stumbling up to her and wrapping her into a hug. "Man, 's'there any more tequila?"

Kara stared at her. "Babs."

"Joking, joking!" Babs muttered, not exactly sounding convincing. Kara just raised an eyebrow at her, which Babs apparently thought was hilarious, judging by how she laughed at it.

However, her laughter was cut short as something drew her attention. She walked over to the window adjacent to the sink, her eyes widening. Kara followed her gaze. And needless to say, she wasn't expecting what she saw.

Fireworks. Fireworks exploding in the air and lighting up the night. Kara checked her phone. 12:05 PM.

"Huh," she mumbled. "Guess we lost track of time." She remembered the promise they had made. Oops.

Kara turned to Babs, whose smile had grown larger. "Aw yeah! Fireworks!" She threw her arms into the air. "They're great! I mean, half of 'em are prob'ly just the booze talking but…"

She continued to ramble as Kara directed her gaze towards the door. Babs quickly turned to her. "Huh? Something… the matter?"

Kara just scratched the back of her head. "Uh, shouldn't we go meet the rest of our friends?" As soon as the words left her mouth, Kara was a little concerned. She already knew a drunk Babs was more emotional and jumped to conclusions. She didn't want that to happen again. "Look I don't mean…"

Babs didn't say anything. Instead, her smile shrank into a smirk as her eyes became half-lidded. "Why would I wanna when I've got you?" She walked over to Kara, letting her hips sway. Kara just smirked herself as she leaned in for a kiss. Babs beat in her in closing the gap, though, bringing their lips together as she held her head.

Kara hummed softly as she held Babs close. Once they pulled apart, she grinned. "Damn, I can barely smell the booze and vomit off you."

Babs returned the grin. "Good to know." She stared into Kara's eyes, placing a hand on her face. "I love you, babe."

Kara leaned forward to kiss Babs on the forehead. "I love you too, honey."

Needless to say, this was definitely a New Year's Eve Kara wouldn't be forgetting any time soon.
