This is my first Fire Emblem fic, but I admit I have played Awakening for a long time... I wondered whether to upload this in light of the election on everyone's minds, but here we go. The premise is heavily influenced by Persona 4, should you know!

Chapter one: Apocalypse

Amatsu Park: Evening

It was the end times.

The sky was a dark blood-red, if not pitch black. Smoke billowed to the air as flaming meteors slowly descended to the earth below. Without a doubt it was the end of the world. For every flaming meteor that landed, a building or two was either demolished or went up in flames.

A certain white-haired high school girl, her hair done up as twin tails, watched the scene from the streets. She herself couldn't believe what was going on. Was this it? This was the end of everything she knew. Her world was burning, literally, and she could see the silhouette of a dragon take to the skies and it gradually got bigger.

Panic filled her body as she ran from where she was at the mall, where a meteor had merely crushed the entire place in seconds, to the lakeside. From there, she could find a way to get home and help her family evacuate from the impending doom; provided they were still alive.

Her cell phone rang. She picked up the call.

"Robyn?!" It was her school friend. "It's no good. They're… They're everywhere! The city is filled with them! Ah – ah – AGGHHHHH!" The scream almost shocked the white-haired girl, but what shocked her further was the unmistakable sound of a loud 'crack' that indicated that the phone on the other line had fallen to the ground.

But she was telling the truth. The monsters were everywhere, and they were growing. The familiar streets she knew for so long were going up in flames. The pavement beneath her feet showed cracks and buildings were either leveled or on fire. The lake, which was a city park, only reflected the ominous red sky above as zombie-like monsters continued roaming the streets.

Hearing her friend simply cut off like that, the white-haired girl anticipated the worst.

"No…" she said to herself. "Miriel?! Miriel!"

She wanted to cry. She wanted to find her friends, but she had no time as a pack of those monsters caught sight of her. There was no time to do anything but run and hope to survive.

Startled, the white-haired girl made a run from the pack before they could catch her. She ran away from the lake and in the direction of high ground, where her home was nearby. There was no point in going to the city centre as it was clearly in flames on one hand, and demolished by meteors on the other. Also, the railway network had collapsed too, and the train station was overrun by the monsters. So where did that leave the girl? She ran uphill as hard as her legs could carry her.

There was only a little hope that she could outrun the monsters behind.

But with the enormous dragon now descending onto the city, it came and eventually decimated everything in a single city block. Nothing was left standing in its place. Only the barren ground below was all that remained. After that, the dragon moved to its next targets and leveled a block of apartments and trees.

The white-haired girl was so appalled by what she saw, that she had frozen in place.

Everything she ever knew. Gone. Was there even a point in resisting? Tears started rolling down her cheeks. Everyone she knew was probably dead. If she had time to pause, which was of course impossible, she would have taken time to think about what exactly had been the cause of all this. There had to be an explanation. There had to be!

But there was no time. Besides, it was too late.

Another meteor landed slowly beside the girl and demolished another part of the city centre behind her. Feeling uneasy, the girl continued along her path to the higher ground. She didn't know where to go, except to moving forward.

That was when the dragon above her stopped in place, its shadow overwhelming her, and then descended to face the girl. The girl swallowed.

"Your friends… and everyone you knew and loved… are dead." Its voice, full of pride and venom, said to her.

The girl fell to her knees. She couldn't find the words to speak.

After that, the dragon took to the air again. Monsters began to surround the girl, and then the dragon began unleashing a giant fireball that was the size of the city itself. It was bigger than any meteor could hope to be, and then fired away. It descended slowly.

The girl didn't have time to cry as light began to surround her…

"Chrom, we have to do SOMETHING."

"What do you propose we do?"

"I… I dunno…"

Robyn slowly opened her eyes to familiar faces and voices…
