The sound of pages in a book being turned seemed to echo across the library.
"... Let's see... 'The three dragon legends, Kyruem, Zekrom, and Reshiram, were once one, although the name of this beast was lost to time and thus remains to be discovered' - This makes no sense."
Link had been wandering the mansion and had decided to visit the library, just on the whim of seeing what other myths and legends existed.
There turned out to be countless books. He was currently sitting in a very comfortable cloth chair, reading up on various Pokémon myths. Regardless if they made much sense.
After an unknown amount of time, Link sensed movement nearby.
He glanced over the page of the book he was holding, his eyes widening a bit when he saw Robin standing there with an amused smile.
The Hylian lowered the book slightly. "How long have you been standing there?", he asked tentatively, choosing to close the book and set it on a nearby table.
The woman's smile grew a bit. "I didn't expect to find you here, Sir Link. Didn't take you for the scholarly type, either. What book is that?"
The Hylian resisted the urge to scoff. While it was no secret he was a knight, it wasn't if he wanted anyone to treat him as such. "Um..." He picked the book he had been reading off the table and showed it to Robin. "Something about 'Unovan Legends.'"
"Oh?" Robin took a seat next to Link. "And what did you find out?" The fact that he was interested in Pokémon of all things had caught Robin's interest. "Read something about how three dragons were one at some point but it doesn't make sense to me."
Terry Bogard slammed the door behind him. "Ugh! What is with that...that thing?"
The Fighter's groan caught the attention of Lucario, who just so happened to be relaxing by the outdoor swimming pool. "Is Kirby trying to eat you again?"
"Tell me about it."
"That sort of thing happens to all of us, new guy. Usually, he goes away after one turn of the Copy Ability. By the way, he can see you through that glass door."
Kirby politely waved at Lucario. "Hiii!"
Terry slammed his face in his right palm. "I didn't think that through." He quickly tossed his signature cap to Lucario before jumping into the water as Kirby pushed open the door.
Greg wondered why no one had offered to join him out here.
He also didn't know how he had earned the nickname of "Villager". Maybe because he was from a village? No one bothered to explain to him so he didn't ask.
As of right now, Greg was camping in the nearby forest, catching various fish.
It was somewhat lonely out there with no one to talk to, but Greg was alright with that. Isabelle hadn't joined him for whatever reason, maybe she was still busy with office work as she usually was.
The teenager pulled back on his fishing rod and brought up a massive fish. "Cool. Wonder if Min could use it for something."
Ren Amamiya, better known by his codename Joker, was standing in the kitchen of the Smash Mansion, making himself a snack.
He brewed himself a cup of coffee and used the near endless supply of food and ingredients in the refrigerator and cupboards to make himself some curry, both of which had been taught to him by his former guardian from Tokyo, Sojiro.
As he prepared his food, he pondered how he had gotten here. From a kid on probation, to leader of the Phantom Thieves, to a god-slayer, to a competitor in an inter-dimentional fighting tournament.
"Must be because I'm too awesome for them to pass up." Ren thought to himself with a chuckle.
Though, he did wish people would call him by his real name as opposed to just 'Joker'. He was more than just a Phantom Thief. He had interests outside of that, like being a cocky asshole to others just for fun, making the best coffee and curry the Smashers ever tasted, and staying up as late as he wanted (that stupid cat be damned).
As soon as he finished preparing his food, Ren took it to the nearest table to eat. This was the only real thing of note that he had done today. It's not like the rest of the day would be very interesting.
Young Link gazed across the table at his older counterpart. "From my experience, lights in caves signal the way out. It's helped a lot"
"Well, from my own experiences, getting close to bright lights is the worst idea ever..." Link off-handedly remarked. Simon was at the same table. "That's certainly an interesting perspective. Do tell me, Link. My experiences have told me that light is a sign of comfort; be it the subtle flame of a candle or the sun that vanquished many a horrible night."
"Heh. You try having rampaging ancient mechanical creatures that fire lasers from yards away or blood moons and see how you like light."
"Well, anything with 'blood' in it is never good. And by ancient mechanical creatures, you mean these 'robots,' I keep hearing about, right?"
"They're called Guardians, but yes." Link leaned back in his chair and tried to make himself comfortable as he gazed across the table at the vampire hunter.
"What? Is there something on my shoulder?"
Steve looked over from a nearby table and then got up, dragging his chair over to the one the others were sitting at. "Nah. You're good, Simon, man's waiting for a response about what he said is all."
"I, um...I've never really been one for idle conversation. Not used to working on a team. Richter on the other hand is more approachable but is very serious when he needs to be."
"I don't really know anyone here quite yet, it's hard to say." Link glanced over at Steve. "…Why are you so….?"
"Square like?" Steve noticed the kid nod. "Well, I'm not quite sure myself. Otherwise, I'm just as human as you are."
Simon turned back to the Links. "Well, everyone here seems to know you two; that's for sure. You have quite the legacy behind you."
Red, the renowned Pokémon Trainer and Champion of the Kanto League, was in a good mood. He'd been teaching his Squirtle some new tricks in the pool, including the ability to use his move Withdraw to skid in the surface of the water for a short period of time, and it was finally bearing fruit.
"I'll definitely be able to impress everyone", he thought, satisfied with the result. Squirtle had always been the one that had stuck to him the closest, and the most versatile.
On the sidelines, Ivysaur had been down, calmly photosynthesizing, while Charizard was loitering about, soaking up the sun.
Red turned to stare at the latter with a mixture of disappointment and relief.
"That Charizard... why is he always so lazy and unmotivated outside of battle? I swear that he's going to be death of me. At least he isn't being destructive this time, so there's that.
Out of the blue, something startled all of those present at the Mansion. It was the voice of one of the beings that governed the world that they called Smash. However, unlike the previous times he made a mental call like this, it was not calm and collected, but rather haggard and hurt.
"To all available fighters, I... request your... aid... please go... to the place… I'm showing you"
All at once, the Mansion was filled with an air of unease and even panic.
Red was left speechless. How could a godlike being such as Master Hand need anyone's help? And where was Crazy Hand? What was going on?
