Hello everyone! Thank you for checking out my story! I hope to do weekly updates but I am still in highschool and have a few other priorities, so please bear with me. Well, I guess I should let you get to reading!

"Alice!" I whined to my best friend. "Are you kidding me? You told me you could come!" I paced my room, hollering into my phone. "I have your ticket and everything!"
The annoying, but completely lovable, pixie let out a sigh. "I know, I'm sorry." She truly did sound sorry but I couldn't help but groan. I sat down on my bed, letting my torso fall back, and ran the hand that was not holding my phone over my face.
I had a plan, and that plan was not going as planned.
A little over a month ago, I had discovered that a specific band was coming to Edmonton. A band that I had listened to during all of my years on this earth up until now. Foreigner. Yes, Foreigner was coming to Edmonton, Alberta. The city where I was born and raised.
You might be thinking, how old are you? Fourty? No, I am the ripe age of nineteen. Yes, nineteen.
As soon as I graduated I began working on how I could start my life as an adult. I moved into a cute little apartment not too far downtown, I applied to multiple schools so I could get my diploma in creative writing, got into UBC and started taking their online creative writing course, and I somehow scored a job at a small antique store. I have been living that way for a year now and my life, at the moment, was exactly how I wanted it.
I then soon ran into my best friend Alice for the very first time.
I had walked into the very cozy coffee shop and stood back so I could look up at their menu. I must have taken one too many steps back because the next thing I know I heard the squeal of a high pitched voice and my back was burning hot.
I had run right into Alice, who was holding a fresh cup of coffee. After apologies on both ends, Alice giving me her sweater to wear over my shirt, and a couple laughs, we decided to sit down and talk.
We have been best friends ever since.
Alice was a few years older than me and had her own little clothing boutique on White Ave. where she made and designed her very own clothing line. Fashion had always been her passion.
Okay, back to my plan that wasn't going as planned. I immediately went over to Alice's apartment and told her the news. She replied with a very loud and, in Alice fashion, a high pitched "yes".
"When is it?" She had asked me while jumping up and down. Alice and I didn't have a whole lot in common but the one thing we did was older music.
"January tenth." I said with a huge smile on my face.
"That's so exciting! First we have Christmas, then we have New Years, and then we have a Foreigner concert!" She threw her hands up in the air and cheered loudly.
But now, here I was, nearly 2 months later, on the phone with Alice after she told me that she couldn't make it to the concert because she is feeling under the weather. I was extremely disappointed but I could hear her sniffling on the other side of the phone and let out a loud sigh.
"What if you . . ." She trailed off.
"What if I . . .?" I pressed.
"What if you just take the extra ticket, go walk around town before the concert, and maybe, just maybe, you'll run into someone to invite?" She said it all quite fast and took a deep breath afterwards, knowing how I would react to that statement, she prepared herself for my wrath.
"That's ridiculous, Alice." My voice went up an octave. "You can't honestly believe that I would try something like that."
"Bella, you haven't gone on a date since Mike." Alice replied, sounding slightly annoyed.
I threw a hand up in the air after sitting up. "How do you know? I didn't even meet you till, like, a year after our break up."
She let out yet another sigh. "Bella, you never put yourself out there. So that is how I know. Now, Bella, you need to get back into the dating game! You're nineteen!"
"But Alice-" She cut me off. How rude.
"No buts!" And the line went dead. She hung up. I groaned and tossed my phone onto my bed. Great, now I had to go to a concert alone and I wasted money on an extra ticket. And such short notice, with the concert being tonight.
I sat on my couch for a long moment, thinking about what Alice had said. Maybe I should. Maybe I should put myself out there more. No, I don't need to. I'm only nineteen and I don't need a boyfriend right now. It's not like I haven't had one before so I can check that off my bucket list.
Mike and I began dating at the beginning of the second semester of our senior year in highschool and broke up at the end of the school year due to some complicated matters. Well, not complicated, it is quite straightforward really. But, whatever.
Since then, I haven't gone out on any dates. You might be thinking, why would you turn guys down? Well, I haven't actually been asked out since our break up and I have just been so busy with school and work that I couldn't even find the time to go out to a bar. Not that I wanted to really.
After a few more minutes of contemplation, I made my decision. I would go out for something to eat before the concert, nothing more! Then I would go to the concert and if I didn't meet anyone before then, then oh well. Concerts can be fun on your own, right?
"Thank you." I grabbed the to-go cup full of coffee, slightly diluted with cream, and walked out of the coffee shop, making my way to the park down the street. Benches lined the large patch of grass as well as some trees. It wasn't too cold out that day, it was actually quite nice for the winter.
It was around zero degrees celcius with about an inch of snow covering the ground. The sun peeked through the clouds slightly so with any luck, the snow would be gone by the end of the day. Because of the weather, I dressed in a long sleeved shirt with a thick wool sweater and a toque with some normal dark blue jeans and plain black winter boots. I also let my mid length dark brown hair flow. I didn't bother to put it back because one, I was wearing a toque, and two, it helped keep my ears and neck warm.
The snow crunched under my boots as I made my way towards a nearby sitting area. After sweeping off the snow, I sat down on a bench and took a sip of the deliciously warm coffee. To get into the mood for the concert, I decided to put in my earbuds and listen to some of Foreigner's music. I crossed my legs and hit play on my phone. The song Cold As Ice began to play and I couldn't help but smile at the irony of the song title. Usually every other day was cold as ice but today was quite the opposite.
You're as cold as ice
You're willing to sacrifice our love
You never take advice
Someday you'll pay the price, I know
I moved the right leg that was stacked on top of the left back and forth to the beat of the music and took another sip of my coffee.
I've seen it before
It happens all the time
You're closing the door
You leave the world behind
A woman, out for a jog, was walking her large dog. An elderly couple held hands as they walked in the opposite direction. When they were close to colliding, the woman moved out of the way, kindly. They nodded to each other in hello and continued their separate ways, all three with smiles on their faces. The old man leaned down and placed a kiss upon his love's cheek. I smiled at the sight.
You're digging for gold
Yet throwing away
A fortune in feelings
But someday you'll pay
A few snowflakes began to fall. I looked down at my sweater and began to inspect the snowflakes, seeing how detailed and different each individual one was.
You're as cold as ice
You're willing to sacrifice our love
You want paradise
But someday, you'll pay the price, I know
Not a single one was the same. Some were more intricate than others but they were all beautiful.
I've seen it before
It happens all the time
You're closing the door
You leave the world behind
I looked up to the sky and let some fall onto my face. They melted as soon as they made contact with my skin. Such a beautiful thing gone in an instant.
You're digging for gold
Yet throwing away
A fortune in feelings
But someday you'll pay
A slight breeze arrived and made a chill run down my spine, making me take a gulp of coffee. I let my eyes wander, taking in the things that were happening around me. I guess you could say I was people watching but that sounded a little creepy, I was more so just gazing, being aware of my surroundings.
Cold
As
Ice
And that's when I saw him.
You know that you are
Cold
As
Ice
His bronze hair peeked out through the bottom of his toque, it was just long enough that you could see the edges of it.
As cold as ice to me
Cold
As
Ice
He had the most beautiful face I had ever seen. He was tall too, much taller than me. At least six feet tall compared to myself which is just over five foot four. His skin was quite pale, very similar to mine. It seemed to glow in the sunlight. He wore a dark grey coat that was buttoned all the way to the top and stopped at his upper thigh, his hinds shoved into his pockets.
You're as cold as ice
Cold as ice, I know
Yes I know
He wasn't alone. He walked with two other men. Both around the same height. One looked quite a lot like him but he wore no toque so I could see his full head of blonde hair that was in the form of loose curls. The other had a band wrapped around his head to cover his ears. He was different from the other two yet looked much the same face wise. He was much larger, a lot more muscular while the other two seemed more lanky, and his hair was almost black with very small ringlets and cut short.
You're as cold as ice
Cold as ice, I know
Oh yes I know
I couldn't take my eyes off of them, well, him. They were all very attractive but there was something about the bronze haired boy that caught my attention and held it.
You're as cold as ice
Cold as ice, I know
Oh yes I know
The song came to a close as soon as they disappeared behind the trees. Gone was the song just like him. The difference between him and the song though was that I could just go on my phone and play it again. With him though, there is no way I could go and press a button to bring him back, he will forever be someone I was just watching, too stunned by his beauty to take action. I sat just far away enough from the sidewalk that I couldn't see fully down the street, so I was no longer able to see them.
It was probably better off that way. There is now way someone so handsome, so gorgeous, would want to go out with me. So there I was, alone in the park, with no way of contacting that boy to even get to know his name.
I closed my eyes as the next song began. Hot Blooded. That's a good one.
