Wolf family

After reuniting with an old girlfriend from his past, Wolf gets more than he bargained for when he moves in with her. Can he overcome the challenges of being a family man from his former life as a mercenary?

Chapter I

One year after Assault

Wolf stood on the boardwalk in Corneria City and glanced out towards the beach and ocean with his arms on the railing, watching the sun setting and taking a sip of soda from his soda can. He grinned when he saw tons of people enjoying a nice day at the beach. He was no beachgoer, but he enjoyed walking on the beach and boardwalk during the day. The weather was perfect for today; lots of sun and very few clouds in the sky, which meant he could enjoy the day off. He wore an opened blue denim vest with nothing underneath, a pair of blue denim shorts, and tennis shoes. After all, it was the middle of July.

He took a deep breath and sighed with people walking behind him, being happy at the fact that he was no longer a wanted mercenary and leader of Star Wolf, having been pardoned a year after the defeat of the Aparoids when he saved General Pepper's daughter from being taken hostage by a bank robber during a trip to the bank. He was getting tired of having to hide in the Sargasso Space Station with Leon and Panther. Plus, he was hoping he would run into his old girlfriend named Melissa Willow, whom he hoped that she didn't die during the aparoid invasion. He had seen her on television since she is now a highly-respected talk-show host. He was now an up-and-coming wrestler.

He took a bite of a hoagie he bought from a local Zero's sub shop and continued watching. His ears picked up the sound of a jogger heading towards him. He didn't pay attention though because the jogger ran up to him.

"Well, look who decided to show up on Corneria." The jogger said to him.

Wolf turned around and looked at the jogger, who was a grey female wolf in her early-to-mid 30's wearing a pair of gym shorts, blue tennis shoes, and a black sports bra. She was beautiful, with a slim body, and thick, waist-length, dark-blue hair pulled back into a ponytail. He was shocked at who it was.

"Melissa?" Wolf said to her, "Melissa Willow?"

Melissa smiled and nodded. Wolf threw his arms around her and exchanged hugs with her. This was his old girlfriend when they were teens during his days.

"Melissa," Wolf said, "It's really good to see you again."

"Great to see you too, darling." Melissa replied, "How long has it been, years?"

"13 years." Wolf replied, "I was just a young adult back then. I thought you were dead when the Aparoids invaded"

"Well, we survived." Melissa told him, "And my god, have you worked out."

"Thank y-"Wolf said, "Wait, why are you being so nice to me? When we broke up, I was leading that new team Andross formed called Star Wolf."

"I didn't like it back then." Melissa told him, "But then I knew you were strapped for cash, so I had to accept it and move on while working as a copygirl at a tv studio back then. But when I read about your heroic deed in the newspaper, I knew you'd had changed for the better."

Wolf raised his hands in defense.

"I'm no hero, Melissa." He said to her, "I was very desperate to clear my name and no longer have the police nor the government looking for me. Hated those times."

"Those days are done, now." Melissa said, "Come join us for a pool party I'm having tomorrow night."

"Ok." Wolf replied, "But again, what do you mean 'we'?"

"You will know, tomorrow night." Melissa replied

She gave him the meeting time and address to her place, then left. Wolf became a little nervous about tomorrow night. But he knew it was nothing bad, so he walked off the boardwalk and rode his motorcycle back to his apartment.

In another part of town, Melissa drove her car up the driveway to a large three-story house and turned off the ignition. She got out of the car and saw her and Wolf's 13-year-old son Adam O'Donnell talking to Krystal and Fox McCloud, who became their closest friends and next-door neighbors when they moved into the neighborhood one month after the Aparoid invasion. Melissa exchanged waves with all three of them as she walked up the front steps.

"I hope things go well when Wolf meets Adam tomorrow night." She thought as she entered the house through the front door.
