Ch 1, Go Make a Copy.

"Begin!"

A tall, bald headed scarred face man of Japanese descent walked around the large room of his dojo, watching intently as several young students dressed in white gi robes with black belts around their waist stood at attention then, on his command, began to meticulously go through katas as he walked in between them, correcting a few postures as he went.

While he directed his students, over in the far corner, sitting cross-legged on the floor was a young blue eyed humanoid turtle dressed in a blue t-shirt and blue denim jeans, watching longingly as the tall man corrected one young woman's arm, forcing it up slightly higher and instructing her to thrust her arm out with more force. The turtle sighed and shifted slightly on the rug, wishing the teacher would allow him to participate in at least one of his many classes. But the man had told him many times he was different and not allowed to be included in his practices of the martial arts.

"You are a freak," He had told him time and time again, "And a freak like you do not learn from people like me."

'Of course it could be worse,' He had told himself several times over throughout his fifteen years, 'If not for Master Saki finding me, I could be homeless and struggling to find food and shelter,' He watched the tall man instruct a young boy on his form, 'Or I could be dead.'

"Prepare for weapons practice," He heard Saki tell his students.

"Hey Leo," The young turtle looked up as a small petite red headed blue eyed girl with freckles on a pixie face walked over and greeted him.

She was followed by a another young girl with black hair, dyed blond underneath, golden eyes surrounded by red eye liner and her smooth lips were highlighted by dark red lipstick, "Do us a favor Leonardo," The second girl looked at him mischievously.

The early afternoon was bright with sunshine and he found himself watching in fascination as their hair glistened in the light. "Hello Miss April," He greeted as he stood to face the two girls. He bowed slightly to them, "Mistress Karai," He smiled slightly at them as he straightened.

"Leo, I've told you before," The red head smiled tenderly at him, "It's just April, okay."

Leo nodded and smiled at the young girl, "Sorry April," He responded with slightly reddening cheeks.

"And you know I prefer just Karai," The dark haired girl smirked at him, she leaned closer to him, "It's just too bad my father does not."

Leo nodded nervously, "Um, What favor can I do for you?"

"Master Saki wants us to do weapons training and I would like you to get me that tesin I was using yesterday?" April responded.

"And I would like you to retrieve my tanto blade," Karai told him.

"Of course," He turned and walked toward a closet where several smaller weapons were kept. He found what the girls had requested and promptly brought the weapons over to where they were waiting.

"Thanks Leo," They chorused as he handed over the weapons.

Seconds later, several more students came over requesting weapons and Leo quickly complied, handing each of them the weapons they requested than watching as they turned and walked away from him. He sighed and went back to his corner, continuing to watch as the students paired up and began their training. He watched some of the other students, boys and girls who had paired up, smile or laugh while looking intently at each other and it was clear to him they were flirting. He looked over at April sadly as he watched her smile at another student that was slightly taller than her. He had dark hair and a gap in his teeth and it was obvious they liked each other in that special way. He then looked over at Karai and sighed heavily. He liked her but she was his master's daughter and Saki had made it very clear they were to have nothing do to with each other outside of him being a servant to them. He looked away and huffed.

He knew he would never find anyone to look at him in that special way. He was, after all, the only one of his kind. At least as far as he knew there were no others like him around; a strange looking turtle that could stand, talk and move around like the humans did. He didn't understand why he was what he was, a freak of nature that just happened to be a part of this world, but he was who he was and he had lived with it for the last fifteen years. He sighed as he looked down at his hands. Large cold reptilian three fingered green hands that would never know what it would be like to hold another's hand. How he wished there were more like him; but then they would probably be outcast in a world where everyone looked like his master and the other humans.

"Leonardo."

The young turtle looked up and watched as his master's assistant, a tall man with brown hair and a brown beard walked toward his master's desk. He quickly stood and ran over to him, bowing in respect as he came up to the desk.

"Yes Master Bradford?" Leonardo asked as he straightened.

The large muscular human handed him a folder, "Master Saki wants you to make copies of these papers," He instructed with a voice of contempt, "And be quick about it."

"Right away," Leonardo took the folder and quickly made his way out of the dojo, down the hall and into another smaller room where some office equipment was being stored. Among them was a small copier of simple design sitting on a corner table.

Leonardo opened the folder and found three sheets of paper inside. He opened the top of the copier and placed the first page under the lid. He then placed a large green finger on a bright blue button and pushed down on it to power up the copier but much to his surprise, the copier did not turn on.

"That's strange," He muttered as he pushed the button a few more times, "Why is this thing not turning on?" He opened the top and readjusted the paper, closed the lid and again attempted to turn on the copier but again, nothing happened.

"What the….," The turtle scowled at the machine, "Maybe it's out of paper," He opened the one paper drawer the copier had but much to his annoyance, it was full. "Okay," Leonardo stood back and stared at the machine thoughtfully, "The paper's fine, the tray is full," He looked the copier over, "So why is this not turning on?" It was then he noticed there were no lights of any kind on the power panel, "That's odd," He told himself, "There's usually some light on showing the copier is…." He slapped his forehead in exasperation, "Plugged in," He shook his head as he lowered himself to the floor and underneath the table in search of the power plug.

"I'm such an idiot sometimes," He berated himself as he picked up the plug, "Master Saki is going to be furious with me if I don't get back to the dojo soon," He placed the prongs of the plug against the slots of the outlet and pushed the plug into the socket, but as soon as the machine had been plugged in, a loud whirring noise sounded throughout the small room and a sudden bright light emanated from the machine. Leonardo quickly stood and backed away in fear as the machine's light became blinding. He closed his eyes while turning his head away from the machine in an attempt to block out the light while placing his hands over his ears as the whirring noise crescendoed to a high pitch screech.

"What is wrong with this thing?!" Leonardo questioned loudly as the light and noise increased.

Just when it seemed he was not going to be able to take much more, both the light and noise suddenly stopped and after a moment, he finally opened his eyes and lowered his hands. Feeling slightly dizzy, he leaned against the copier's table while squeezing his eyes shut to force the lightheadedness to leave him. After a moment, he took a few deep breaths to compose himself and stood away from the copier staring at it in bewilderment.

'What in the world just happened?' He wondered as he looked over the copier, 'It's never done that before.'

He continued to look over the machine but after a moment of finding nothing out of the ordinary, he decided to go back to making the copies. He lifted the lid to readjust the paper that was supposed to be inside but was shocked to find the paper was no longer there.

"What the….?" Leo looked over to where he had placed the folder with the other two papers but much to his surprise, the folder was also missing, "What happened to the folder?" He wondered out loud, "Where did everything go?"

He once again got back on his hands and knees and began to search under the table and other furniture within the room but still he could find no sign of the papers or the folder.

"This is really getting strange," He muttered out loud as he continued to frantically search the small room, "Maybe the copier disintegrated the papers," He shook no head, "No, that's just stupid," He took a deep breath and looked toward the door to the room, "Oh man, Master Saki is going to kill me," He groaned as he slowly began to walk out of the room, "Might as well get it over with," He muttered, "It'll be another beating but hopefully not as bad as the other ones."

As he walked into the larger room, he stopped short and looked around in shock. The room was empty of any person and the bright afternoon had strangely turned to night.

"How long was I in there?!" He questioned loudly, "And where did everyone go?" He wondered as he continued to look around, "I can't believe Master Saki would just leave without me." He walked around the dojo in complete surprise, hoping to find some sign of his master or any other person. But as he walked it began to dawn on him that there was something strangely different about the place.

Although the room itself seemed to be the same, many of the objects and pictures that his master had put up to adorn the room with seemed different. As Leonardo made his way to the front wall to inspect a row of pictures, a loud noise from outside of the building sounded out causing the turtle to jump in fear. He ran out the door and looked to his right where, in a nearby park, the sound of explosions along with yells and screams could be heard.
