It was 11 am, the time I normally wake up in summer. I got up and started brushing out my blue hair and put on my yellow rain coat. Ever since I defeated the Beldam my life has been better, I was 11 when I did, and now I'm a year older. I started walking down the stairs and meeting Mom in the kitchen, "Hey mom, are you making food? I starving."
I sat down at the small 4 person table that we somehow didn't replace over the year. "Well good morning Coraline, how'd you sleep? I expect good sense you got up at 11", mom looked at me expecting an answer on why I keep getting up later, "Well I got up through the night because of... water and food.." I answered untruthfully, I stay up later just to look at the stars and read to feel at peace but if I told mom the biggest reason I do it she wouldn't believe me. She never does! At least dad pretends to believe me, but right now he's gone to the publishing center downtown. He's off to try to publish his latest plant care book, now he got another case of write rash. "I thought you ate your dinner, and drank a lot of water."
"Uhhhhh well I got thirsty again and wanted more food heh heh... Speaking of which-" I immediately changed the subject not wanting to start a lecture. "what's for breakfast?" Mom turned back around to the sink in the kitchen but continued to speak to me.
"We already had breakfast but I guess I can make you something, what would you like? Eggs?" "I think I would like an omelette please." Mom turned back around and started cooking the food. I sat there patiently until she was done.
She got finished with the food and gave it to me I quickly ate it wanting to do something outside. "So Coraline, I have a meeting with some publishers at 1, and it will probably take a few hours, will you be okay alone for that time?" I finished my food and got up "yeah, I'll be fine, maybe I can go talk to Miss Spink and Miss Forcible." "That would be nice, just stay away from that Bobinski man, I still think he's crazy", I felt kind of confused, she had met Mr B a couple of times but I guess he can come across as strange. "Cmon mom, he's not a drunk for the last time! He just...has...bright ideas... and... big expectations...". I really didn't know how to describe his personality, he can be crazy at times but not psychotic and somewhat know what he's talking about. Mom rolled her eyes and started pack a bag full of essentials that you would need for a meeting or something.
I started putting on my swampers and went outside, I decided to go visit Miss Spink and Forcible. Ever since they helped me with the 'events' of the last year, I've been visiting them. I started walking to their part of the house and walked down the stairs.
I saw the 'No Whistling' mat that I've see so many times, I knocked on the door with the door knocker thing. As expected the dogs scratched at the door barking one second later.
I heard Miss Spink call the dogs off and open the door, "Caroline, it's good to see you again, the dogs have missed you!" I walked in and the dogs sniffed me. "Miriam! Caroline has come to visit us!" Miss Forcible came out of the room she was in and she had very little clothes on, but I'm used to it. "Hey Miss Forcible, how have you been?" "Oh Just fine dear, we have not been doing much but we are happy. If only one day we can perform again, we would be the best ones in the theater!" I walked to the couch and sat down while talking to Miss Forcible "Oh I bet you would be". Miss Spink followed shortly behind and grabbed some butterscotch, "Here, have some candy dear, I get some tea. Oolong tea would be delicious right now." "Oh no no no, April, I think she would prefer Jasmine tea." Miss Spink rolled uhhhh her eyes and went to get the tea.
I waited... and waited...and waited... but she never came back. I went to go find Miss Forcible but she seemed to be gone too. The dogs were gone too and the entire house was dead silent. I walked outside wondering were everybody was, I knew my parents were out but what about everyone else? I walked up the stairs and there was a big thick layer of fog on the ground. I walked through it and looked around. "Hello? Is anybody here?" I felt something touch my leg and I quickly looked down. It was just the cat, "Oh it's just you...hello... you scared me a bit heh heh" the cat nodded at me and jumped on my shoulders.
"I'm glad to see a familiar face, I was just in Miss Spink and Forcible's home and I hung out with them for a bit and then they just disappeared. Like they were never there! It was so quiet and I didn't even hear Bobinski do his morning exercises on the roof." I realized how crazy I looked but I didn't care, I was concerned that everyone was gone.
I went inside with the cat and went to my room. When I opened the door I saw dolls...dolls everywhere with there necks hanging on ropes, and they were all facing me.
I froze to this sight, my face dropped and I started panicking. Was the beldam back? No... that's... no she died, maybe it was something else. Or someone's pranking the crap out of me but the cat seemed to act off when he saw it too.
