It was a nice spring day at the Universe beach house.12 year old Steven Universe was finishing his breakfast. His pet lion, Lion came into the dining room. "Steven?", Rose called from the other room. Steven walked into the living room. "What is it?", he asked as his mother put Lion's leash on. "I'm going out for the week. You can invite over a friend if you want." He nodded. "Okay!"
Steven called Connie and invited her over to swim at the beach. Connie arrived. "Hi, Steven. You ready?" Steven came outside wearing his Cookie Cat bathing suit. "Of course I'm ready." The two went to the shore and began to make sandcastles.
They played for about an hour or so. "I'll see you later Steven, I need to get home for dinner." Steven waved to her as she walked home. Steven sat on the warm beach sand, watching the waves. That was when he noticed something wash up on the beach. He went over to check what it was.
It was a person.
Steven looked at her. She was unconscious. She had brown, neatly kept hair and tan skin. She wore a tattered-but-beautiful strapless white dress with a skirt that reached her knees. She was barefoot.
He waited for her to wake up, but nothing happened. He carried her inside and lay her on the couch. He went to get her something to eat when she woke up.
The mysterious woman slowly opened her eyes and looked around her. She didn't have a clue where she was. This can't be home, she thought as she saw something out the window. Oh no...
She came to the window, gazing up towards the moon. No, it's true! Home is up there, and I'm over here! How am I supposed to get back home without a ship?, she thought. Footsteps came from behind her. "You're awake!", a voice cheered. She turned around to find a small person with a large grin on his face. "I found you passed out on the beach, so I brought you inside to maybe get you something if you were hungry." Steven looked at her. She had a look of both fear and curiosity on her face. "Don't be afraid. I want to help you."
Steven looked to her. "I'm Steven. What's your name?" The strange woman didn't respond. Steven thought. "Do you have a name?"
She turned her head in confusion of the concept of having a name. Steven realized something. "Wait, you must've hit something when you were unconscious, so you might've lost your memories!" She nodded, looking a bit sad. Steven walked to her. "It's okay. I'll help you remember stuff. Why don't we start with your name?"
Steven and the woman were sat down on his sofa. "Hm... how about I give you a temporary name? One I can call you until we find your real name?" She nodded, looking down at him. She was about as tall as any other adult female, maybe an inch or two taller. "It needs to be as beautiful-sounding as that dress you're wearing. How about...", Steven said before thinking.
"...Sardonyx?" The woman nodded, liking how well it complimented her hair. She almost forgot about her worries of getting home. "Yup, sounds like a great name. So, next we should see if you remember how to talk."
The room got warm. "It's kinda cold. Here, let me open the window to let in some cold air.
Steven opened the window and the curtains, allowing some air into the house. The moon was visible as well.
Sardonyx walked to the window, pointing to the moon.
"Home...", she sadly uttered, pointing to the moon. "Home? That's the moon. Unless-" He gasped in awe. "Are you from the moon?", Steven asked, excited to meet an alien. Sardonyx sadly nodded, looking down at the child. Steven held her hand. "It's okay. I'm sure we can get you back home. Somehow."
"How do you know that? I don't even know where I am..." Steven's thought was interrupted by the door opening. Connie came in. "Hey Steven. I came back because Mom said it was ok for me to stay for the night." Sardonyx looked to Connie. "Oh? Who's this?", Sardonyx asked. Connie came to her, holding a sleeping bag. "Sardonyx, this is my friend Connie. Connie, this is Sardonyx. She's from the moon."
"Wow, really?", the 12 year old girl asked. "Yes. The moon is where I came from. And what planet are you from?", Sardonyx asked. "I'm from Earth. In fact, all the people here are from Earth." Sardonyx thought. "Hm... so that must mean I'm on Earth?" They both nodded.
Steven and Connie went upstairs. Sardonyx followed. "Where are you going, dear?", she asked. "I'm going to get ready for bed. I'll get the guest room ready."
Sardonyx walked into the room and watched Steven clear off the bed. "Here you go. If you need anything, I'll be in the room down the hall. Good night." Sardonyx looked at the bed, pondering. "Hm. This isn't the kind of sleeping quarters I had back on the moon. We slept in energizer pods that kept our energy at a stable level."
"This is kind of like that, except it isn't a pod." He helped her lay in it. "See, you sorta just lay down on it like this, put a blanket over yourself to stay warm..." Steven looked. Sardonyx was already beginning to relax. "Wow... this is so relaxing, Steven. You were right."
"I know. Now you just close your eyes and keep them closed. Then you can fall asleep." Sardonyx closed her eyes. "Good night dear.", Sardonyx whispered before falling asleep. Steven went to his room. "Good night Steven.", Connie whispered to him as she got in her sleeping bag. "Good night."
