Chapter 1:
Hello! My name is vorpal weapon 06! I am the author of this fanfic. However, I want it to be know that I am not a writer… in fact I am an engineer. I say this to mean that my grammar is not the best, nor is my storytelling any better.
Initially, I started writing this because I was board without any Naruto fictions to read. Anyways I decided to publish this because I want some feedback on my writing and what I can improve about the story.
Now onto story specifics:
Naruto will not have a Harem in this fic
Naruto will eventually be Op, but it will take time to reach there
Sasuke will be a girl named Satsuki (and she will be much less insufferable)
I don't plan on there being any bashing, but I will make Naruto's early life difficult
I don't plan on ever including the Outsutsuki
I may even leave out the Akatsuki
I have messed around with the ages a bit. They will be 16 when they graduate
Also, one of the main story points is that Naruto spent 5 years of his life with orochimaru. Obviously experimenting on the most powerful weapon in the elemental nations is hard to pass up if given the chance. So, what did he do to him? I need suggestions. What changes did he make to him? I've got a couple in mind that you probably read in the summary, but it never hurts to have more.
And ofc I do not own Naruto.

Pain
Searing white hot pain
His eyes shot open as he rose to a sitting position. Breathing in deeply he could feel burning in his chest. Looking down, he almost puked at the sight of his own body. Down his chest a long incision ran all the way down to his abdomen.
It was barely held together by some thread-like material and bleeding profusely. Soon the burning intensified as if he had just laid across a stove top. He screamed in pain as trendles of muscle and skin reached themselves across the bloody valley that marred his chest. As usual the cut slowly vanished from existence leaving only a faint scar, that too slowly vanished.
Feeling the pain slowly subside, he twisted his body to hop off the table he had woken up on. On shaky legs he stumbled his way over to on the left wall from the table. Stepping on a stool to reach the sink, he began to run cold water and splash his face. After taking a few sips of the brown water, he craned his neck up to look at himself in the cracked and dirty mirror.
'Red… wait… red… that's not right!' He thought as he discovered his left eye had turned an iridescent blood red.
Slightly frightened, he jerked his head to the left to pull the eye out of sight… that's when he noticed it… his ear. No longer was it round… no it was pointed and slightly longer than usual. Taking a step back, he fell of the stool onto his ass.
"Kukukuku"
Whipping his head in the direction of the laughter, he felt the blood drain from his face. There in front of him stood a tall slender man with pale skin and long black hair that reached his mid back.
"I see you like your new… features" The new occupant said
"W-what d-did you do to me?" He timidly asked his voice echoing in the stone room. He slowly stood and took a few frightened steps away from the pale man.
"I made you better young fox! Far better than kami could have ever made you!" He chuckled coldly.
"Now, it time to go ba-"
BOOOOOOOM
The snake like man jerked his head to front of the room as the whole room shook, dust falling from the ceiling.
"SHIT! They found us… well I guess it was only a matter of time kukuku."
The room continued to shake as distant explosions could still be heard.
The tall man walked casually over to the back of the room opening a steel door.
"Well, isn't this an interesting turn of events … it seems ill have to take my leave kukuku and unfortunately I can't take you with me fox…so… you will just have to stay here… kukuku… I hope our visitors treat you well…" the man said with his face contorting into a twisted smile that sent shivers down the young boys spine.
"Until next time fox…kukuku" He chuckled with the same inhuman expression
CLICK
The heavy steel door slowly closed.
He stared at the door confused… 'what's happening' He thought to himself as he moved back over to the table.
Suddenly the shaking stopped… it was quiet. He looked to the door… that when he felt his ears prick
HISSSSSSS
'Whats th-'
BOOM
The door flew off the hinges in a deafening explosion. His hand went to his ears as they started ringing from the explosion.
Four shadows entered to room in a blur. The shadows landed around him, encircling him. He quickly looked to his left and saw two figures in black shirts and pants, grey armored vests, and porcelain masks shaped like animals' faces. He looked to his right and saw the same. They were pointing swords at him, ready to pounce like a cat stalking its prey.
After awhile one with silver hair sheathed his sword in a sheath on his back and got down on one knee. He looked the young boy in the eyes and said…
"Who are you?..."
Silenced reigned after the question.
"The explosion must have deafened him… he's holding his ears." The dog masked stranger stated in a monotone voice.
"Lets grab him and go… knock him out so he's easier to handle." He commanded.
The silver haired man stood up while the boy felt movement behind him… and then… darkness
The masked assailant picked up the now incapacitated boy. They nodded to each other and suddenly the room was empty.
Outside:
The four strange people reappeared in an instant just outside of the underground facility in a forest. One of the masked strangers stepped forward and began making shapes with his hands.
"Doton: Return to Earth" the stranger yelled
The ground rumbled as the earth rose and seemed to swallow the entrance to the facility seemingly burying it. After the ground settled it was as if the facility was never there.
"We need to head back double time to deliver the boy to lord Hokage." The silver hair man commanded.
Some time later:
Soft… comfortable… feelings foreign to him.
He slowly came to his senses his multicolored eyes fluttered open as sun beams warmed his body and soul. It had been a long time since he saw the sun after all.
The first thing he noticed was the smell of smoke and the sound of light scribbling of pen on paper. Confused and curious the boy fully became aware of his surroundings. Green… fur… seemed to cover the floor and wood the ceiling. He rose to a sitting position and noticed he was laying on a green couch of sorts made from some soft cloth.
"Eh-hem"
The boy jerked his head around to see an old man sitting behind a desk with red and white robes on. He had his pipe in his right hand and a pile of papers to his left and right.
"Glad to see you awake. How are you feeling?" The old man kindly asked
Confused and suspicious of the stranger the young boy quickly scooted back on the chair away from the man.
"I mean you no harm little one… do you know how to talk?" The old man said from his chair.
"y-y-yes" was all the boy said as his eyes darted around the room.
"Whats your name? My name is Hiruzen." The old shadow said as he emptied his pipe into an ash tray.
"I-I-I don't have a name… father always called me… fox"
"Well then… fox-kun… welcome to konohagakure. I am the village leader or Hokage is my official title." He seemed to chuckle at his own title
"Why am I here?" the young boy quietly stated as he tried to make himself as small as possible.
"My anbu discovered you in one of Orochimaru's facilities and brought you to me."
"Who is Orochimaru?"
"I believe he's the one you call father." Hiruzen said with a sad remorseful smile
"A-are you going to change me like father?"
A frown adorned Hiruzen's face as he rose to his feet and looked out the window in overlooking the village.
"Your father was not Orochimaru… but we can get to that another time... You will not face the same treatment you faced at the hands of Orochimaru." Hiruzen turned towards the boy. "That is a promise on my title as Hokage." He stated honestly
For some reason the boy could sense a feeling of sincerity coming from the old man in front of him.
"O-o-okay" the young fox still felt anxious
"Now… we had some blood taken while you were out… and it matched one of the samples we have on file… your name is Naruto Uzumaki, and you were born here and Konoha."
Shocked, his mouth hung open as this was the first time, he had a name let alone a family name.
"D-do I have family hear?" the boy asked with hope in his voice
"Unfortunately, no. Your family was killed 8 years ago during the kyuubi attack."
"Who were they? Did they love me?" The boy asked barley holding back tears
"I'm sorry, I can't answer that until you're older Naruto-kun, but yes they loved you deeply and couldn't wait to meet you. Unfortunately, they never got that chance as they died the night you were born"
'They loved me?' He thought to him self bitterly.
Hiruzen sat back down at his desk and began to ponder something as Naruto collected himself and sat in one of the chairs facing the desk. Naruto starred at Hiruzen for the first time noticing the power that seemed to emanate from the old fire shadow. The power felt comforting and peaceful like a placid lake.
'He feels calm and warm… unlike fath- I mean Orochimaru'Naruto thought
*Sigh* Hiruzen stood up putting his hands behind his back.
"INU"
"Yes, lord Hokage?" The silver haired masked man from the facility suddenly appeared frightening Naruto.
"It's okay Naruto, this is inu, one of my anbu operatives… he won't hurt you" Hiruzen plainly stated.
Calming down, Naruto analyzed the newly identified Inu. His only discernable feature being his spiky silver hair. He had aura of sadness, anger, and an emotion Naruto didn't know how to interpret. Taking his focus off Inu he looked back to the Hokage as he began to speak.
"Inu can you please go get anko for me?"
"Yes, Lord Hokage." He vanished
After a few minutes of silence between Hiruzen and Naruto, Inu reappeared in the room. This time with a young girl with purple hair tied up in a messy bun.
"Hey old man! Whatcha want this time? And who's the brat" she noisily exclaimed.
"His name is Naruto, and he shares a similar history with you." Hiruzen responded calmly
"You mean he was one of Orochimaru's test subjects too?"
"Unfortunately, yes, I can only imagine the horrors he's had to endure."
"Yeah… So, what did you need me for?" A sour look adorning her face.
"I want you to take in young Naruto… He could use someone in the village that will understand and share his burden. He will live with you in the forest where you can raise him away from prying eyes."
"I don't have a choice, do I?"
"Nope"
"Fine" She looked at Naruto "My name's Anko Mitarashi, nice to meet you brat"
Naruto looked her over and felt a gentle warmness from her, but also something cold and sinister coming from her that felt like Orochimaru.
"Why do you feel like fath- Orochimaru" Naruto corrected himself
Hiruzen, Anko, and Inu stared at Naruto as if he had grown three heads.
"What do you mean Naruto?" Hiruzen inquired
"Well, she feels warm, but there is something sinister coming from her as well… it feels just like Orochimaru."
"Maybe he's a sensor, lord Hokage" Inu suggested
Hiruzen's eyebrows raised as he stroked his beard. "Yes, perhaps he is… Naruto what do you feel from me?"
"Warmth, strength, and calmness"
"Huh, well that's interesting" Inu lazily said.
"Naruto, how would you feel about becoming a ninja?" Hiruzen asked
"I-I don't know lord Hokage."
"Very well you have plenty of time to think it over. Let's get you settled into the village first." Hiruzen said finishing the paperwork he had started.
"Inu, I need you to escort Anko and Naruto to Anko's house."
"Old man are you sure he should live with me in the forest?"
"Yes, you can teach him how to live and survive."
"Okay, if you say so." She spoke.
"Alright, you are dismissed. Anko, please come by tomorrow to pick up the money for his essentials."
"Thanks, Old man"
"Thank you, Lord Hokage." Naruto said before turning to follow inu and Anko.
CLICK
The door to the office shut as the trio left.
Hiruzen's tired eyes turned to a picture of a blond man on the left wall over the couch.
'I found him, Minato, this time I will not fail you.' He thought to himself as a tear formed and rolled down his wrinkled cheek.
Later:
After travelling through the village and making their way to the outskirts of town, the trio arrived at a high fence surrounding the tallest trees Naruto had ever seen. The signs on the fence warned of danger and death, but Naruto could sense life emanating from the forest that seemed to resonate with something deep within him.
"Hey brat, snap out of it we're here."
Naruto turned to Anko "This place feels like life, why do the signs say its dangerous?"
"That's because of the inhabitants of the forest… It's very dangerous to go alone, so stay close to me at all times… got it brat?"
"Yes" he agreed
They made their way into the dense forest the light fading as the got deeper and deeper. Soon, it seemed like it was almost night even though it was midday. After a few minutes of walking, they came across a small shack like structure that had two stories and seemed to be leaning to one side onto a tree.
"Welcome Home Brat!" Anko shouted as she ran to the door and opened it "Come on in I'll show you around"
It's a small living room lit by dim lightbulbs. A couch and two chairs on either side surround the fireplace. A sweet smell permeated the room. Naruto noticed boxes of takeout food littered the coffee table.
"We will have to share a room upstairs, but it should be fine since I have an extra futon." She said with a smile on her face.
"Okay I think I'll leave you two to it, later" Inu said as he disappeared
Anko sweat dropped at the lazy goodbye and then looked at Naruto. "So, lets get you settled in."

Over the next month Naruto settled into living in the forest with Anko. The massive creatures in the forest seemed to keep their distance from the shack. Which was good because one day Naruto saw a bear that was bigger than the two-story shack travelling through the forest. He had yet to leave the forest as Anko did all the shopping. As for Anko, she was starting to get used to having the boy around. She would be gone during the day to take care of her duties as a ninja, and at night she would come home and cook dinner for Naruto and herself. They would spend time after dinner getting to know each other. Naruto was reluctant to open up at first, but after hearing some of Anko's stories of her time with Orochimaru, he was slowly becoming more comfortable around her.
"I was kept in a cell all day, only allowed out when it was time for experiments." Naruto recalled. "There were others too, but soon I was the only one… It constantly smelled like blood… everyday there seemed to be a new experiment or a new procedure… he never knocked me out… usually the pain from the procedure was too much and I would finally pass out" Tears began to stream down his face and his voice stuttered as his breathing hitched. "H-H-He never bothered to stitch the incisions he left them open to heal on their own… they would always heal shortly after I woke up, but the pain was terrible."
"I tried killing myself… slitting my throat…my wrists… but I always woke up healed in a puddle of my own blood." Naruto had now curled himself into a ball on the couch as he sobbed no longer speaking.
Anko reached a hand out to comfort him, but he flinched away from the unfamiliar contact. She retracted her hand and decided to speak instead.
"I was his apprentice… me manipulated me… I loved him like a father… he even made me recruit "volunteers" for his experiments. HE convinced me that we were helping people…" She paused as Naruto looked at her. "One day I walked in on him performing an experiment on a child no more than 2… he had killed her… He just threw her away like it was nothing… he even asked me to get him more… but… I couldn't… I refused…" tears started streaming down her face as this was only the second time, she had told this story to anyone. The first being the Hokage. "That's when he decided to use me as a test subject… He marked me… with an experimental seal call the curse seal of heaven. The pain was unlike anything I had ever felt… and now that I'm marked it feels like he's there every time I use chakra." She dried her eyes and turned to face Naruto. "That's why I've made it my life's ambition to bring that bastard down. So that no one has to live the life that either one of us has lived."
She reached out and placed a hand on Naruto's shoulder, and surprisingly he leaned into her seeking comfort.
"C-can I help you, do it?" He asked with pain evident in his voice.
"Yes, but only if you become a shinobi… I will warn you its not an easy task… the shinobi lifestyle is filled with pain and strife; although, if you survived Orochimaru for 5 years then you've definitely got what it takes to be a powerful ninja." She stood up from the couch facing Naruto. "But you have to be absolutely certain that is what you want to do, because once you start there is no way back."
After pausing and considering her words Naruto looked at her with determination, she had never seen the boy display. "I'll become the best ninja ever and then I'll rid the world of the likes of Orochimaru." He stood up and hugged Anko's waist tightly.
Quickly getting over her shock she smiled and hugged him back. "I have a feeling you might accomplish great things Naruto."

Later that day In the Hokage's office:
It was late afternoon indicated by the warm orange sunbeams streaming through the windows. Hiruzen in his usual robes and hat sat behind his desk for once about to finish his paperwork early. As he filled out the last form, he put down his pen and pulled out a small book from the secret compartment under his desk.
"Hehehehe" Soft giggling escaped the old shadows mouth as he began reading. Hiruzen then took out a small red handkerchief and wiped the small amount of blood trickling from his nose.
Suddenly the office doors flew open. "Hey old man!" Anko said as she walked through the doors with Naruto beside her.
Hiruzen had immediately hidden the book and looked as if he had never been reading it. 4 Anbu had come out from their hiding places to attack whoever had barged into the room unannounced.
"Ah, Anko, Naruto, it's nice to see you" He signaled for the Anbu to return. "Why are you here today?"
"Naruto says he wants to become a ninja, and I want to see about getting him enrolled at the academy!" She excitedly said
"Naruto are you absolutely certain that you want to become a shinobi? I'm sure Anko made you aware that it's not an easy life." He stated as he lit his pipe and smoke began to fill the room.
"Yes, Ojisan, I want to become the strongest in the world… I don't want anyone to ever go through what I have… I want to bring peace to the world." He said with determination in his eyes and without stuttering.
Hiruzen smiled. "Well, that's an honorable goal Naruto. Make sure you never loose sight of it… As for the academy you will have to wait until you're at least 10 years old to join." Hiruzen paused and looked thoughtful for a minute. "Although, that doesn't mean that you can't begin your training now."
"INU" Hiruzen summoned the silver haired Anbu.
"Yes, Hokage-sama" Inu appeared in the middle of the room next to Anko and Naruto.
"Inu, how would you like to train young Naruto here for the next year?" Hiruzen asked and waited for his response.
"I would like that very much, Hokage-sama" Inu replied instantly jumping at the chance to train the young boy.
"Very well then, Kakashi, you may remove your mask… You will be a Jonin from today onwards and receive an A-rank mission pay for the next year for training Naruto." Hiruzen stated as he retrieved a scroll from his desk and began writing in it.
The now named Kakashi removed his mask to reveal another mask covered face. The lower half of his face was covered, and his left eye was hidden behind his forehead protector. The one visible eye was black and seemed to be filled with determination.
"Hai, Hokage-sama." He said as he placed the porcelain mask on Hiruzen's desk and retrieved the mission scroll and flak jacket from him.
Kakashi turned to Naruto and with an eye-smile said, "We will begin your training tomorrow, I will pick you up in the morning."
"Okay!" Naruto exclaimed jumping up and down with excitement.
