As far as I know, this is probably my first Powerpuff Girl story (minus the crossover stories I have done with them), but this worm of an idea wouldn't leave my mind. Okay, this is sort of inspired by a few ideas I've seen around Deviantart, involving the Rowdyruff Boys. Okay, first, I'm going to get this out of the way, my feelings on the Rowdyruff Boys are... neutral, at best. I mean, they worked fine as anti-versions of the Powerpuff Girls that were created first by Mojo and later on resurrected by HIM to take on the girls, and for some reason, people were big fans of these three boys when their running thing is that they think they're better than the girls and would never allow themselves to be good. I was one of the few that thought the Rowdyruff Boys only worked for one-shots, but I can understand why people would be interested in seeing them back... but honestly, they didn't have much character beyond being just the stereotypical boys and anti-versions of the Girls.
So, I've been thinking... what if that could be changed? I'm mainly putting up this first chapter to see if anybody would be interested in me continuing more, but I wouldn't mind doing so regardless. That said, consider this a story where the Rowdyruff Boys get the development I think they truly deserve! Anyway, enjoy!
"The city of Townsville, or more specifically, in the city park! But sadly, even a nice, quiet time at the park will soon be disrupted by an unknown force... which, isn't exactly unknown, but... you know what I mean!"
It was another afternoon in the park. One old lady was sitting at the park bench, feeding some nearby pigeons as the birds cooed and pecked at the morsels on the ground. Some man passed by the old lady, walking their dog as one of the dogs stopped to sniff around a base of the tree. And not too far away, a man and a woman were holding hands on a date, laughing together as the man had just finished telling a funny joke about what happened during his work day. But little did they know of the danger lurking above the trees. Because as of this very moment, deep undercover in one of those trees were three certain flying boys, keeping a watch out for people passing by. No doubt that the Rowdyruff Boys were planning on making trouble again.
"Heh, can you believe these suckers? Any minute now, we'll be swimming in stolen treats!" The first boy in the middle, with red hair and wearing his baseball cap backwards, laughed.
"Heh, yeah, Brick! We're going to drop in on these bozos before you know it!" Butch, a spiky black haired boy on Brick's right, laughed. "What's the plan?"
Brick could only laugh. "Loogie the heck out of these chumps, and when they're distracted, we go in for the wallet!"
Butch hi-fived Brick with a laugh. "Great plan, Brick. Hey, Boomer, don't you think that's a good plan!"
Of course, the minute the two turned their heads and frowned as they noticed a blonde haired boy wearing blue and black seemingly distracted by something. The two narrowed their eyes. "Boomer!"
The blonde haired boy shook his head, yelping as he turned to his brothers. "Right, uh, good plan, Brick!"
Brick and Butch just glared at the blonde haired boy in anger as Boomer just grinned nervously. Brick narrowed his eyes at Boomer's as the young blonde felt himself shrinking. "And just what were you looking at that was more interesting than our plan?"
"Uh, well, uh..." Boomer started to say, before turning his head. "N-nothing. Nothing at all."
"Yeah, that's what I thought." Brick rolled his eyes before taking a deep breath. "Okay, Boomer, you're the best loogie spitter, do your stuff!"
"Yeah, sure." Boomer sighed as he turned his head to where Brick was pointing towards a whistling man that was minding his own business. Boomer took in a deep breath and let loose a slimy booger that landed directly on the man's head, causing him to get knocked backwards.
Brick and Butch laughed as they hi-fived each other, before Brick turned to Boomer. "Eh, good work, baby bro. You have been improving on that loogie."
Boomer's eyes lit up. "Thanks, that really means-"
Brick, frowning at the boy's cheeriness, slapped him. "Don't push it with the goody-goody behavior! That's not what we're about!"
"Hey, we going to rob that man or what?" Butch asked as he was looking eager to go over to the unconscious man.
"Yeah, just as well." Brick said. "Come on, let's see what he has..."
Brick then started to zoom off as Boomer looked ready to follow... but not before stopping himself as he looked back to what he was looking at before his brothers brought him to attention.
Over near a playground, a young boy was seen playing on the swings as he seemed to be pushed by an older woman, preferably the boy's mom as the boy looked over to her. The mother could only laugh as the normal boy gave a genuine laugh. Boomer could only watch this with a confused, yet happy and melancholy look on his face.
"BOOMER!"
Boomer's attention was snapped back as he turned to Brick, who had just arrived at the body. "You coming or what?"
"Yeah, yeah!" Boomer frowned as he got up and flew over as they started to pat down the unconscious men.
"Man, oh man, those Rowdyruff Boys, always finding themselves in trouble. But let's take a detour from them for a while and check up on their rivals, AKA the saviors and heroes of Townsville, the Powerpuff Girls... which, if I've read this script correctly, are just about to head home for the holidays!"
"And just remember class, even if you are heading home for a well-earned break for the week, you still have to remember your reading assignment."
Most of the class gave a small groan as they rolled their eyes in boredom upon hearing that. Miss Keane, the black haired woman in orange, frowned upon hearing those moans. "Now don't give me that, class. You know reading your assigned books will be very important for your book report coming up in the next two weeks."
"Sheesh, is this kindergarten or third grade?" Buttercup muttered to herself, rolling her eyes.
For the green wearing Powerpuff Girl, she was more than eager to get out of the school as fast as she could, if only to travel with Blossom or Bubbles to sweep the city of Townsville at least a couple times to see if any crimes were lurking around. With no calls from the hotline phone all day, the tough girl was starting to get a bit antsy.
Miss Keane couldn't help but notice Buttercup's impatience, giving a small internal laugh to herself. It was then the bell rang, indicating the end of school as Miss Keane looked up and smiled.
"Looks like it's time to leave, already. Remember, class, make sure you read your assigned reading during the break!" Miss Keane said as all the kids began to get up, with Buttercup starting to get up as she was about to fly out the door, with Blossom and Bubbles following close behind. "Oh, uh, Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup, may I see you three for a few moments."
The three girls stopped short, in mid-air as Buttercup gave a loud, "OH COME ON!", since she was closest to the door. Buttercup grumbled angrily as she joined Bubbles and Blossom, the former looking nervous and the latter just crossing her arms, wondering what the concern was this time.
As soon as she made sure all the kids were out of the school saved for the ones she summoned, Miss Keane looked over towards the Powerpuff Girls as she took a deep breath, intending to speak.
However, it was Buttercup who spoke first. "Whatever it was, I didn't do it!"
"Buttercup!" Blossom frowned as she narrowed her eyes at her sister. "We're not in trouble for anything..." She then paused as she turned to Miss Keane. "Are we?"
"No, no, nothing like that, I promise." Miss Keane giggled as she looked over towards the three. "I just wanted to see how you girls were holding up, even after everything that gets thrown at you."
Feeling a wave of relief, the three girls relaxed as Bubbles gave a girlish giggle. "We're just fine, Miss Keane. In fact, we're just as focused as we've ever been."
"Yeah, thanks to your advice for helping us focus on our studies and understanding that we need to save the world... since, you know, Townsville is always attacked by a monster or one of Mojo's silly schemes." Blossom said with brimming confidence.
"You bet!" Buttercup smirked, before pausing. "But yeah, we're just good."
Miss Keane gave a smile. "Oh, that's good. It's just, sometimes, I worry about your well-being at times, and..."
"Miss Keane, if it's about our studies and our superhero life getting in the way of that, you don't need to worry. We can still make time to focus on our studies." Blossom grinned. "It's the monsters that threaten control."
"Y-yeah..." Miss Keane paused as she gave a warm smile to the girls. "You know, I can see why the Professor would be so patient and understanding of you three. Sometimes, I often wonder what it'd be like to raise superhero children of my own."
Buttercup scoffed. "Please, Miss Keane. You're a great teacher, and you're good with kids..."
"Especially with us." Bubbles smiled sweetly.
"But yeah, raising children like us, especially with powers beyond your comprehension? The Professor makes it easy, especially because he raises us right... and keep in mind, it took you and the whole city of Townsville quite a while to get used to us in the city." Blossom said with her arms crossed. "I mean, it would be a good exciting moment, but there aren't really any chances of that happening, you know."
Miss Keane blinked twice as she looked at the doubtful faces the girls had. She then put on a small smile, "I guess you're right. Though it would be quite an adventure."
"Yeah, yeah, when you put it like that..." Buttercup said as she looked ready to fly out. "Now, if you don't need us for anything, we have to go, BYE!"
Buttercup quickly zoomed out of the building, taking up to the air, leaving the teacher and two shocked girls behind. Blossom couldn't help but sigh as she got up. "Sorry, Miss Keane. We'll see you after spring break week is over. Come on, Bubbles, we better go catch up with Buttercup and make our rounds before heading home."
"Okay, Blossom!" Bubbles smiled as Blossom went after Buttercup. Bubbles was about to head out, before pausing as she looked back at Miss Keane. "Hey... why have you wondered what'd it be like to raise superhero kids, Miss Keane?"
"Huh?" Miss Keane paused as she looked down at Bubbles, before giving a small laugh. "Oh, nothing, Bubbles. Just something silly on my mind. You go on ahead and catch up to your sisters. Have a good week off!"
"You too, Miss Keane!" Bubbles smiled, not acknowledging Miss Keane seemingly dodging her question as she zoomed off to catch up to the other girls.
The young teacher gave a wave, before getting up as she packed her belongings, but not before looking out the window to see the girls fly away, presumably to see if there were any crimes being committed. She gave a small sigh as she looked down and sighed. She couldn't explain it, but ever since she met the Powerpuff Girls, she couldn't help but think about all the possibilities of raising superhero children. And she often liked Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup, not just as students, but as good friends. Sure, that wasn't much, but she still adored the girls all the same. Even when they were tired or just exhausted, she did her best to help them out through their troubles, even if she had to get their father, Professor Utonium, involved.
Still, she couldn't help but feel a bit lonely. Sure, there was a time when she and Professor Utonium dated for a while, but it didn't quite work out the way she had hoped... especially when the Professor mentioned that he hated cats, much to her dismay. Still, despite that, it did fill her with ease and for a while, the idea of being an adopted mother of the girls did feel great... but it wasn't meant to be. She gave a small sigh as she went out.
"Just for once, I want to feel the experience of raising a child with supernatural powers..." Miss Keane said to herself, before giving a sad sigh. "Of course, what's the chances of that happening?"
With that, she walked to her car, and started to drive to her home, little realizing that on the drive home, fate would come flying at the front of her car...
And we are done with the first chapter! How did you guys like it? Like I said, this is the first chapter of a new story that, while I'm sure it might have been done before, I want to try my own individual take on it... and hopefully, give the Rowdyruff Boys some much needed Character Development! There will be more chapters to come, so don't miss out! Anyway, read, review, criticize and suggest, folks!
