Here we are, everyone. One of the most anticipated stories on this site is finally here. And just in time for the holidays!
I want you all to know that there's gonna be a lot of heartbreak here. You're going to see deaths of quite a few characters, and it'll be even harder as we hurry along through these chapters. I know ten chapters seems short for a story like this, but it's gonna be well worth it.
All I ask that you give me your honest feedback as to how I write this. We're gonna have some really heavy chapters in this story, so be warned. With everything squared away, let's get into it. This is "Avengers: Omni Force".
AVENGERS: OMNI FORCE
Multicolored lights surrounded the orange-and-blue spaceship speeding quickly through the cosmos, soaring past planets. Inside the vessel and seated at its bridge were five people, each of different species. One human, one Kree, one Sovereign, one raccoon, and one walking and talking tree. Though an unlikely bunch, these five were known simply together as the Guardians of the Galaxy.
"I mean, it could be a false alarm…" Rocket Raccoon pointed out with a shrug to his comrades while seated at the cockpit of the Milano, taking his gloved paws off of the levers as the ship slowed down.
"We cannot ignore a distress signal, Rocket," Quasar chimed in from the seat across from him, "especially if it is from Xandar," she added seriously.
"I am Groot…" Groot agreed from the back of the cockpit.
"A potential attack on Xandar means that the Nova Corps may need our help," Peter Quill pointed out as he took off his helmet, revealing his slicked back, brown hair, "And besides…" he continued, narrowing his eyes, "there hasn't been an alert like this in almost five years…" he recalled seriously.
"All right, I get it…" Rocket replied with a slight nod of his head, "It's just… outta the blue, ya know?" he pointed out, "I mean, we could've gone to Earth and helped take down that Galactus freak…" he mentioned in remembrance, "Thought we were the Guardians of the Galaxy after all…" he muttered out.
"I am Groot," Groot retorted.
"Exactly," Quasar agreed, "The Avengers were more than capable of dealing with the likes of Galactus themselves," she noted, "And that seems to have been for the best," she added assuredly.
"Ugh, whatever…" the raccoon groaned, resting his clenched right paw against his cheek. Peter chuckled silently. He then turned his attention onto the Sovereign of their group, Adam Warlock. His eyes were closed in deep concentration as the gemstone at his forehead glowed brightly.
"I am Groot?" Groot questioned, tilting his head to the side curiously.
"Not yet, Groot," Peter answered for their Sovereign colleague, "Give him a few more seconds," he advised.
"We're about a minute away from exiting the jump point," Rocket said, flicking a couple of switches.
"Surely you've made contact with someone at this point…" Quasar noted to Adam, whose eyes remained clenched shut.
"Quasar, let him concentrate," Peter insisted of the Kree, "He'll probably get a better handle on the situation once we've reached the end of the jump point," he assumed confidently.
"Almost there," Rocket chimed in, adjusting the yoke he had hold off along with pressing a few buttons, "Normally, he finds something at least a few minutes before we make it…" he recalled.
"True, but maybe it's just harder today," the Guardians' leader inferred in reply, "All we can do now is just make it to Xandar and—"
"There's nothing," Adam's voice chimed in seriously, interrupting Peter.
"What was that, Warlock?" he questioned, thinking he had misheard him.
"He said there's nothin' to worry about, I think," Rocket answered, exhaling a calmed breath.
"No," the Sovereign responded, getting his attention along with those of the others, "I mean that there is nothing for me sense," he told his comrades, "No souls for me to contact," he mentioned on. Everyone stared at him in shock.
"Wh…What does that mean?" the anthropomorphic raccoon questioned with a nervous stutter. At that moment, the Milano exited through a hexagonal-shaped rift in the space ahead, followed by it slowing to a crawl. Peter blinked in surprise, widening his eyes in horror.
"What the hell…?" he uttered out, approaching the windshield. The other Guardians aside from Adam were just as stunned. Lying in wait before them was a planet cleaved into three, with pieces of debris floating from each section.
"I… am… Groot…" Groot barely managed to say, trembling out of disbelief.
"Warlock, did you—?"
"I could not sense anyone, Quasar," Adam interjected in admittance before the Kree could finish her sentence, "I did not want to assume the worst, but…" he continued, standing up from his seat, "apparently, it has already come to pass…" he realized as he walked over to stand beside Peter.
"What could've done this…?" the human of group asked after a moment.
"More like who would do this…" Rocket grumbled, exhaling shakily. Before any of the Guardians could offer a possible answer, they heard something rumble like the sound of thunder. They could all feel an overwhelming presence mounting over them as something loomed right above their ship.
"…I believe that may provide us an answer…" Quasar remarked as her eyes shook. Above the Milano was a massive warship that spanned quite wide with its wings. Inside, a tall, purple-skinned alien man in gold-plated armor watched as the spaceship was caught in a blue beam of light, being pulled toward the giant vessel.
"My liege…" a voice chimed in, getting his attention as he turned to see a shrewd male alien who lacked a definitive nose upon his face, having greyish, slicked back hair, "We've captured their ship," he informed. His superior had his hands held together behind his back as he took a deep breath through his nose. His expression turned into a grin.
"Gamora was right…" he noted, "A distress signal from Xandar was exactly what would lure the Guardians to us," he pointed out.
"Quite fortunate that we were already here in the effort to obtain the stone, oh mighty Thanos," Ebony Maw mentioned.
"Indeed…" the Mad Titan agreed, turning around. On his left hand, he possessed a golden gauntlet that had six indentations upon it. One of the indentations was filled over the knuckle of his pointer finger by a glowing purple stone. He headed off with his telekinetic son, adorning a gold helmet upon his head.
Moments later, the Milano brought into what appeared to be an empty hangar. Inside, Rocket fiddled with the controls. Nothing was working.
"God dammit…" he muttered out, "They must've hit us with an EMP or some crap…" he realized, hopping out from his seat.
"Can you at least restart the ship?" Peter asked of him.
"We're still goddamn stuck in a tractor beam, Quill!" he shouted back in response.
"He means to send out our own distress signal," Quasar corrected for their human leader, "Right?" she inquired of him. He seemed hesitant to respond.
"Or get the escape pod out…" he mentioned in reply to her surprise, "Look, I might know who's got us…" he pointed out, grabbing his helmet and putting it on, "And all I can say is that we're gonna be in some real deep shit soon…" he confessed before his face mask came down, "Warlock, hang back," he instructed of the Sovereign as he readied his twin blasters.
"I'm afraid that's no longer an option, Peter…" he responded ashamedly, "We will have to fight back to escape this trap we've found ourselves in," he noted, making the gemstone at his forehead glow before it allowed him to bring forth a staff into his right hand.
"Huh…" the leader of the Guardians sighed in realization. Outside their ship, five figures approached. All of them were aliens of different species. Two males and three females. They were Corvus Glaive, Proxima Midnight, Cull Obsidian, Supergiant, and Black Swan. Surrounding the Milano from five possible directions, they waited patiently for their targets to come out. They immediately turned upon hearing a door open to find two figures approaching them.
"It's a surprise they haven't come out yet…" a blue-and-purple-skinned humanoid cyborg female dressed in a purple sleeveless shirt and pants noted. Walking beside her was a pale green-skinned humanoid female with dark hair that faded into a red gradient at the tips. Her uniform was similar to her adoptive sister's, though it was black.
"They take time with their planning," she pointed out in reply, "They have ever since what happened on Knowhere," she mentioned. Hearing that, Nebula turned her attention back towards those of the Black Order as she and her sister came to a stop. "Did our father really request all of us for this matter?" the Zehoberei inquired of the group.
"The Mad Titan wants no mistakes, Gamora," Supergiant answered, approaching the pair of assassins, "We're to capture Warlock dead or alive… and take the Soul Stone," she told them. Gamora narrowed her eyes.
"And how do you plan in dealing with the other Guardians?" she inquired with a tilt of her head, "I can only imagine they wouldn't anyone to take one of their comrades…" she noted, folding her arms over her chest. Supergiant glared at her.
"Don't underestimate us, favorite child…" she remarked to the Zehoberei.
"Then don't underestimate the Guardians…" she spat back. The others in the room watched the tension-filled staring match between the two continue.
"That is enough, Supergiant," Maw's voice chimed in, getting their attentions as they turned to see that he and Thanos had arrived in the hangar. Everyone immediately dropped to a knee respectfully as the Mad Titan approached. He looked ahead to the Milano.
"You've confirmed Warlock is inside?" he asked of his adopted children.
"Yes, Father," Nebula answered, "We now only wait for your instruction," she told him. At that moment, they heard something from the spaceship. Its ramp came down, followed by the figure of Groot leaping out. He looked pissed.
"I… AM… GRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTTTTTTTTTTT!" he roared, having his wooden arms extend out to their respective sides. Not able to react in time, Supergiant, Proxima and Corvus were all knocked down by the sudden attack. Obsidian found himself struck as well, but managed to hold his footing. He growled, pulling out his hammer-like weapon and hooking it to the Flora Colossus' arm. With a mighty roar, he yanked him over, slamming him against the floor.
Swan then took notice of Quasar flying out from the ship, projecting several blades from the yellow glow wafting off from the bands at her wrists. The Black Order member was quick to react, evading the incoming weapons as she rolled away. She then flew over and tackled the Kree to the floor. Her eyes shined a bright red before she fired beams from them, which Quasar barely managed to block as she projected an energy shield, grimacing all the while.
Fortunately, she was rescued as Swan was knocked off of her by a pair of laser bolts shot from Peter. He stood at the ramp, firing shot after shot into the hangar. Thanos narrowed his eyes onto him.
"My liege, shall I deal with the human?" Maw inquired of his adoptive father.
"…You may," he answered after a moment, "but keep him alive," he instructed.
"As you wish," Maw replied, walking forward. Afterwards, Gamora and Nebula approached the Mad Titan.
"Daughters," he addressed as they stood to attention, "retrieve Warlock," he requested of them.
"Of course, Father," the Luphomoid responded before she and her sister went off toward the Milano. Peter hurried about the hangar, shooting at Proxima, Corvus, and Supergiant, forcing them to fall back. The former of the three steadied her spear over her arm and fired a blast of blue energy toward the leader of the Guardians. He quickly tucked and rolled forward to dodge it, continuing to fire onto the Black Order members. Groot wrestled Obsidian, and Quasar blocked off the beams fired her way from Swan.
"Are you sure this is for the best?" Adam questioned to Rocket in the ship's bridge, as the anthropomorphic raccoon was fiddling with wires behind the control panel, trying to restart the vessel.
"Hey, if Quill says you need to go, then you need to go," he answered seriously, "If I can get the ship started, we'll get you off in the escape pod to whatever damn planet can help us now…" he mentioned.
"Perhaps to the heroes of Earth?" the Sovereign inquired.
"Yeah, maybe…" Rocket suggested in reply. He then crossed a pair of wires, making a spark come off of it. All of a sudden, the systems in the Milano turned back on as they buzzed and brightened. "Hell yeah!" the anthropomorphic raccoon yelled happily, "Okay, let's get you outta here before—!" A blade almost chopped his head off as he leaned back in the nick of time to dodge it, falling onto his rear end. He looked up to find Gamora there with a collapsible sword in her right hand. She narrowed her eyes.
"Hello, Rocket," she greeted coldly.
"You…!" the anthropomorphic raccoon growled out, quickly pulling out one of his blasters. However, Nebula leapt in, drawing a pair of metal batons. She struck Rocket with them, zapping him fiercely as he grimaced.
"Rocket!" Adam exclaimed in a panic, followed by gasping as he had to block Gamora's sword swipe with his staff.
"Don't make this difficult, Warlock," she advised of him, pushing back as he grimaced, "You know why we're here…" she pointed out. The gemstone upon the Sovereign's forehead started to glow brightly.
"Then you also know that I will not be easy to capture…" he retorted, suddenly disappearing in a flash of light.
"Where did he go?" Nebula asked immediately upon noticing that their target had left.
"He's heading for the escape pod," the Zehoberei replied after a moment, "Keep the rodent here," she requested, "Warlock's mine," she decided, hurrying off. Adam reappeared beside the pod, quickly typing on the control panel in order to open it. He hated having to leave his fellow Guardians behind to fend for themselves. But if Peter insisted that he needed to go, he would.
Unfortunately, he failed to reach the pod as something suddenly pierced into his left shoulder, causing him to yelp in pain. He looked to see that it was a knife that had been thrown at him by Gamora, who charged toward him. Quickly removing the blade as blood poured from his wound, the Sovereign spun his staff to block the Zehoberei's sword, clenching his teeth together.
"Why are you doing this?!" he questioned frantically, "Weren't you once a Guardian yourself?!" he inquired on. What followed was the gemstone at his forehead glowing brightly before releasing a laser beam. Gamora leapt back and rolled to the side to evade it, followed by pulling out an energy pistol and pulling the trigger. Her shot struck the Sovereign squarely in the chest, making him falter down onto his knees as he dropped his staff.
"Huh…" she exhaled in relief, tucking her firearm into its holster while also collapsing her sword and putting it away.
"What do you hope to achieve by capturing me of all people?" Adam questioned as the Zehoberei approached him, closing her hands into fists.
"It isn't you we're after," she answered, causing him to look up at her with widening eyes of realization, "And I think you know what that means," she mentioned before landing a strong right hook to knock him out onto the floor.
"I… am…!" Groot grunted out as he was pinned to the hangar floor by Obsidian, who stood upon his back while holding onto his hammer-like weapon in one hand, and the chain attached to it in the other, as it had been wrapped around his foe. Quasar was finally felled by Swan as she hit the surface hard upon her stomach. As she attempted to push herself up, she looked to find Corvus and Proxima pointing their weapons at her.
"Groot! Quasar!" Peter cried out, about to fire onto the Black Order members. However, his blasters were suddenly yanked out of his hands telekinetically by Maw, who had merely raised his right arm. What followed was Supergiant landing a haymaker onto the leader of the Guardians, knocking his helmet off as he fell to the floor. The second he tried to get up and retaliate, the hooded alien's eyes shined brightly as they stared into his. He stopped, falling back down as his eyes drooped shut.
"Hm," Supergiant scoffed, "Shall I destroy his mind, Father?" she offered as the Mad Titan approached.
"At ease, Supergiant," he advised, "His time will come," he assured to her. Coming down from the ramp of the Milano moments later were Gamora and Nebula, who tossed Adam and Rocket respectively onto the floor as they came to a stop at Thanos' feet. He grinned, pleased with the results.
"I am… Groot?!" Groot roared in question.
"Yes, what do want with us?!" Quasar asked angrily, paraphrasing for the Flora Colossus. The Mad Titan stepped towards the downed Rocket and Adam. The former of the two crawled a few feet back in fright, while the latter awoke in a groan.
"Adam Warlock…" Thanos uttered, causing him to gasp. Before he could do anything else, the Mad Titan grabbed him with his left hand, lifting him up from the floor. "A man born pure Sovereign, purified even further thanks to that which you wield…" he mentioned, narrowing his eyes.
"You refer… to my Soul Gem?" Adam weakly guessed, trying to escape the armored alien man's grasp.
"It's true name is the Soul Stone," he answered, "Capable of reading the hearts of any being by the one who wields it," he pointed out, "It's how you grew to trust these Guardians of Galaxy…" he mentioned on.
"I will not give it to you…" the Sovereign declared firmly as he glared at the Mad Titan. He merely blinked.
"That's fine," he responded, "I was merely just going to take it…" he said before grabbing the gemstone with his right hand.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!" Adam screamed in agony as his colleagues all watched in abject horror, especially Rocket. Those of the Black Order remained on standby with Gamora and Nebula, waiting for their father as he pulled on the gemstone. The one already in his gauntlet glowed an ominous purple. Finally, he ripped the gemstone off of the Sovereign's head in a gush of blood, followed by tossing him aside.
"ADAM!" Quasar screamed with widened eyes, seeing his body tumble over lifelessly as he bled out. Trembling, Rocket gnashed his teeth together.
"You monster…!" he growled out, getting onto his feet, "How many more are you gonna take from us?!" he shouted in question, only to get himself zapped again by Nebula's electroshock batons, forcing him down onto his stomach.
"I know that you've safeguarded the galaxy for years, Guardians," Thanos noted, holding the bloodied, orange-glowing gem his fingers, "This isn't personal…" he mentioned assuredly. Peter awoke, looking over to see his dying comrade. He then watched as the Mad Titan held the gemstone over his gauntlet, having it hover above the indentation upon the pinky knuckle. Like a magnet, it pulled the Soul Stone in instantaneously. A grunt of pain left Thanos' lips as he endured the strength of the gemstone for a moment. Its orange glow dimmed a few seconds later as he exhaled a calmed breath.
"You've done it, Father," Maw commented as he knelt down and bowed his head, "You are now a third of the way to completing the goal of your grand design…" he pointed out as the others of the Black Order, along with Gamora and Nebula, respectfully knelt down as well.
"What… goal?" Quasar asked after a moment.
"I… am Groot…" Groot uttered out, seemingly just as perplexed.
"I applaud you, Guardians," Thanos remarked, turning his attention onto his foes as he removed his helmet, "What you kept in your possession for so many years is one of the most powerful entities in all of existence," he explained, "And so long as you vow to not impede my path to destiny…" he continued, "I will leave all of your lives spared," he vowed. Peter sat up, grimacing in agony. The current situation wasn't ideal.
Rocket was pinned by Nebula, Groot still found himself in Obsidian's grasp, and Quasar wasn't going anywhere with Proxima, Corvus and Swan looming nearby. As for their leader, Supergiant was right next to him. With but a thought, she could easily take hold of his mind and stop him. He'd have to act fast. And he would.
"Guardians…" he breathed out, catching the attentions of his comrades and the others, who saw him crack a small grin, "thanks for making a good man out of me," he said with gratitude. He then quickly reached down to grab something off of his belt, flinging it over toward Obsidian. He didn't have time to react as the object flung at him glowed a bright red before exploding into a burst of light. In that instant of him being blinded, he stumbled off of Groot. Feeling the hold of his foe's chain loosen, the Flora Colossus gritted his teeth.
"I… AM… GRRRRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTTTTTTTTT!" he bellowed, pushing himself onto his feet and knocking Obsidian away, backhanding his right fist into his face. Proxima, Corvus and Swan turned their attention onto him, prepared to help subdue Groot again. However, that gave Quasar the opportunity to blast them away with a shockwave of yellow energy she emitted from her body.
"Rocket!" she called out, quickly forming an energy construct in the shape an axe, which she swung towards Gamora and Nebula. They leapt away to evade it upon noticing, allowing for the anthropomorphic raccoon to hurry off. He joined Quasar and Groot as they hurried up the Milano's ramp.
"Sire, they're escaping!" Maw exclaimed.
"Not all of them," Thanos corrected to his surprise. He looked over to find that Peter was standing completely still while trembling, as Supergiant glared at him coldly with glowing white eyes.
"That was a very poor decision on your part, Star-Lord…" she noted with a smirk. The three Guardians who boarded the ship quickly made their way to the escape pod, with Rocket quickly accessing the control panel to open the vessel up for his comrades to enter.
"Wait, where's Quill?" he asked, scurrying back to the ramp.
"Rocket!" Quasar cried out. The anthropomorphic raccoon hurried to the exit ramp to find the Guardians' leader still frozen stiff while under Supergiant's control.
"Quill!" he exclaimed, quickly drawing a blaster from his belt and aiming it.
"I wouldn't if I were you…" the omnipath recommended of him, enticing him to growl angrily, "Father, will you let finish this one?" she requested of the Mad Titan, "His mind may not be the most delicate of things to devour, but I will enjoy it nonetheless…" she declared, licking her lips.
"You will do no such thing, Supergiant," Thanos stated, much to her surprise as the glow in her eyes faded away, "Gamora," he began, turning to his adopted Zehoberei daughter and getting her attention, "kill him," he requested. Hearing that, Rocket widened his eyes. Peter turned his head to glance back at the green-skinned alien assassin. She had a cold, emotionless look in her eyes.
"As you wish, Father," she responded finally, drawing her Godslayer in her right hand as it extended out. The anthropomorphic raccoon trembled as his grip on his blaster tightened. He saw Gamora walk toward the Guardians' leader.
"You get any closer to him, and I'll blow your brains out!" he shouted in declaration.
"Rocket, calm down…" Peter insisted, not wanting to worsen the situation. Those of the Black Order watched as the Zehoberei closed in, readying her blade in both of her hands. Nebula seemed to tremble a little. The human turned around… and found himself instantly pierced straight through his chest by Gamora's blade.
"NNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Rocket screamed in dismay. Blood spilled from Peter's new wound as he breathed raggedly. He looked down at Gamora, her cold stare meeting his.
"I'm sorry…" she whispered apologetically, pulling her blade out of his body before he fell forward onto the floor, with blood continuing to pour out of him.
"Y-You…!" Rocket growled out in a stutter, aiming his blaster and gnashing his teeth together, "YOU TRAITOR BITCH!" he roared out, "DRAX WASN'T ENOUGH FOR YOU, HUH?!" he exclaimed, "YOU HAD TO TAKE HIS HEAD AS A TROPHY, TOO?!" he screamed on, tearing up all the while. Not once did fire a shot from his blaster as his enemies listened to him rant on. All of a sudden, a yellow hand of light came in and took hold of the anthropomorphic raccoon, pulling him away. Thanos watched as the escape pod was launched seconds later, heading out into the open space away from the Sanctuary II.
"Do you wish for us to track them down, sire?" Maw asked of the Mad Titan.
"No need, Maw," Supergiant chimed in, "From the Star-Lord's feeble mind, I determined where he planned to send the pod," she pointed out, "They will be going to Earth," she confirmed.
"Earth…" Thanos repeated, "The same planet where Galactus was bested…" he recalled, glancing to the side in thought.
"The Guardians were once there in the case of Korvac…" Gamora remembered, getting his attention, "I believe Quill sent them there to warn those heroes they worked with of our presence," she told her adoptive father, "and our mission," she mentioned.
"Hm…" the Mad Titan hummed in thought, "That planet always does seem to find itself at the center of things…" he muttered, narrowing his eyes, "Send a squadron to Earth to locate the pod and eliminate the Guardians and any reinforcements they procure," he instructed.
"I shall be grateful to lead such a charge, my liege," Maw decided, placing his right hand over his chest before bowing respectfully to his adoptive father. Obsidian huffed, taking a knee to signal that he would join his telekinetic brother in the mission.
"Go at once," Thanos instructed, letting his adoptive sons stand up and leave the room, "Corvus…" he continued to the hooded alien male of the Black Order, "take Proxima and Swan with you to search for the remaining stones," he requested, "We only know the location of one currently," he pointed out, "Uncovering the others takes priority above all else," he stated firmly.
"Understood, Father," Corvus replied as he, Proxima and Swan knelt to the Mad Titan respectfully.
"We will inform of any discoveries as soon as possible," the horned woman of the trio assured.
"And what about the three of us, sire?" Supergiant asked, causing Thanos to turn to her, Gamora, and Nebula.
"You'll be joining me as we head to Knowhere," he answered, "Taneleer is bound to kept the stone he's obtained well-guarded," he noted as he started to walk away.
"As you wish, Father," Nebula responded, bowing her head to his departing form, "We will not fail you," she vowed. Once he left, Gamora took a deep breath and exhaled.
"Something troubling you, sister?" Supergiant asked as she approached the Zehoberei, getting her attention as she turned to her.
"Why do you ask?" she questioned back.
"I know you were once a Guardian like the ones we've just done away with," the omnipath replied, "You even killed one in order to regain Father's favor," she pointed, trotting around her adopted sister.
"What are you getting at, Supergiant?" she inquired, narrowing her eyes.
"I'm just wondering…" the omnipath began to respond, standing face to face with Gamora, "what exactly are you here for, favorite daughter?" she asked back, smiling before making her eyes glow as she was about to telepathically grab hold of her adopted sister's mind.
"That's enough," Nebula insisted as she stepped out in between them, "We need to prepare for Knowhere," she advised seriously. The glow in Supergiant's eyes faded as she sighed.
"Very well…" she said, walking off, "I just was a little curious about your return, that's all…" she mentioned with a shrug of her shoulders. She left the hangar moments later. Nebula placed a hand onto Gamora's shoulder, getting her attention.
"Come on," she beckoned, "Father will not be pleased if we rest on our laurels," she noted aloud before heading off. The Zehoberei was about to follow her, but then noticed the blood dripping from her Godslayer. She glanced back at the dead and bleeding forms of Adam and Peter. Trembling for a moment, she took another deep breath to calm herself before wiping the blood off of her sword, collapsing it and setting it onto her belt. No matter what she'd have to do, she would see her goal through to the end.
OPENING
Insert "Dawn" by Sayuri x My First Story
Opens in the depths of space aboard Thanos' flagship as he stands at the window to view the vast area. Behind him are Gamora and Nebula, along with the Black Order consisting of Ebony Maw, Corvus Glaive, Proxima Midnight, Cull Obsidian, Black Swan, and Supergiant. He turns and pats Gamora atop the head before passing her and everyone else. A room opens up to reveal an empty Infinity Gauntlet, which he takes and sets onto his left arm.
Through a quick transition, we find that he's obtained the Power Stone as it's been fitted into one of the openings of the gauntlet. He uses it to land a powerful punch onto Adam Warlock, knocking him down to the ground before stepping down hard onto him. As Corvus uses his glaive to pry off the Soul Stone upon his head, Peter Quill attempts to save him with a shot from his blasters, but is stopped when Gamora hops in and pierces her sword through his chest. From an escape pod, Rocket Raccoon screams before he, Groot and Quasar are launched into the depths of space.
We cut to Omni Force Tower, where we see Sunset awaken from what appears to have been a nightmare. She goes to Ben Tennyson, who suddenly receives a message from Erza Scarlet. Moments later, they're in front of Avengers Mansion, standing alongside the heroes as they stare up at the incoming warships of Thanos' army. Ben transforms into Atomic-X and flies off alongside Carol Danvers, heading after the warships as they launch down a few dropships, which open up to reveal Outriders that start tearing throughout the streets of New York.
The battle begins as Erza requips into her Iron Scarlet: Bleeding Edge armor, flying alongside Tony Stark and James Rhodes as they blast away several of the beastly creatures. Hulk bashes through more, grabbing a nearby sports car to fling at them. Sunset works alongside Janet Van Dyne as they fire off rays to blow away the Outriders. As Clint Barton takes out a few more with his arrows, he looks up in shock to see the massive explosion of green light as Atomic X eliminates one of the Q-Ships. Several Outriders are about to ambush Steve Rogers, but he's suddenly saved as the creatures are stopped entirely in place. It's the result of a spell used by Stephen Strange with the power of the Time Stone. He gives the Avengers' leader a wink with a smirk.
The scene changes to Europe, where Genos and Alita encounter Vision, who has the Mind Stone embedded into his head. They're attacked by the Black Order, forcing Genos to blast them away with his fiery beams, while Alita clashes with Proxima blade-to-blade. The scene transitions to Asgard, where Thanos is about to leave upon the Bifrost Bridge with the Tesseract in his possession. However, he's confronted by Thor, who holds Mjölnir tightly in his right hand. Thanos rolls his head to adjust his neck, cracking a smirk.
We cut to Wakanda, where the tribes have all gathered together in preparation for the battle ahead. All of the Omni Force members are there as well, with the squadron leaders stepping forward. Ben gathers his own team that consists of Sunset, Natsu Dragneel, Star Butterfly, Kazuto Kirigaya, Gaara Xiao Long, Genji Shimada, Blake Belladonna, Toshinori Yagi, Ilana Lunis, Ban, Cammy White, and Garnet. They head off with the remaining Guardians of the Galaxy and some of the Avengers, including Peter Parker, to Titan. There, they end up confronted by the Black Order with Gamora and Nebula.
Ben transforms into an Armodrillo/Diamondhead fusion to battle Obsidian, clashing his crystal drill against his foe's multi-tool hammer. Meanwhile, Gaara's sand waves are blocked off by Maw's psychic power, followed by Supergiant attempting to control his mind. However, she's stopped by a glowing right hook from Sunset and a Rainbow Fist from Star. Garnet's gauntlet-covered fists are seen clashing against Proxima's spear, while Corvus' glaive is locked in between Kazuto's swords as he glares at him fiercely. As Nebula battles against Ilana by using her stun batons, Blake clashes her Gambol Shroud's katana and sheath upon Gamora's swords.
All while that's happening, back on Earth in Wakanda, Thanos walks about the battlefield without a care in the world as fights are happening all around him. As some of the Omni Force members and Avengers try to stop him, he easily swats them aside like flies. Shuri watches on from a tower worriedly as she hopes the battle can hold him off long enough, seeing as how she's trying to remove the Mind Stone from Vision's head.
As Thanos enters the city, he's suddenly ambushed by a powerful blast of photon energy. Zooming down in a brand new costume is Carol, who cracks her knuckles before diving at him. He quickly closes his gauntlet-covered hand into a fist and intercepts hers with it, creating a massive blast of light.
The opening ends on the shot of all six Infinity Stones coming together upon the Infinity Gauntlet, followed by Thanos snapping his fingers, making the green cut to black in a transition like dust blowing through the wind.

RECKONING
UNIVERSE-616
AVENGERS MANSION
"Tony, all I requested for the Iron Scarlet Armors was repairs, not new models…" a disgruntled Erza Scarlet pointed out, walking down the long hallway alongside a suited Tony Stark, who was holding his hands together behind his back.
"I know, but I love tinkering," he responded, causing her to sigh in annoyance, "Besides, anything to help one of my most respectable and definitely beautiful clientele," he remarked with a snap of his fingers. Rolling her eyes, Erza smiled. While the Avenger was a bit of a playboy, his genius was incredible. The fact that he made dozens of armored suits to assume his role as the Iron Man was one of his greatest achievements.
"So what exactly are my new upgrades in this latest model?" the Fairy Tail wizard inquired, folding her armored arms over her chest.
"Excellent question," Tony responded, "Friday's recorded a lot of your fights in the previous suits, analyzing your patterns and sending that data over to me," he explained, "so that way, I can determine how to model a new, more effective suit," he added to her.
"And the older models are now obsolete?" she inquired, arching an eyebrow.
"Well… I wouldn't let your friends play with 'em willy-nilly…" the Avenger answered, causing her to narrow her eyes, "I promise that they're repaired," he assured, holding his hands up in a placating manner, "But don't you at least wanna see what's in store for you in the future?" he asked her.
"…I suppose I do," she replied with a small grin.
"Perfect," Tony said with a wink. Moments later, the two of them ventured into a room lined with several armored suits that stood up. They were in varying shapes in sizes, which Erza was quick to take notice of.
"I don't suppose my new armor is like one of those…" she inferred, getting the inventor's attention as he turned to see her point to the large and bulky armor standing nearby.
"The Hulkbuster?" he inquired, "Yeah, that'll be next on my list…" he promised.
"Tony…" Erza groaned out.
"Hey, I wanna help the people who're helping the multiverse," the Avenger noted to her, "You've got two of our guys working with you both," he mentioned, "Least I can do to help is give you guys some more firepower," he said firmly.
"And… we do appreciate that," the Fairy Tail wizard assured in reply, "Thank you, Tony," she said with gratitude. He chuckled.
"Jarvis, you awake?" he called out in question, clapping his hands.
"For you sir, always," the A.I. program answered as the room brightened a little. A few holographic screens appeared around Tony and Erza. The latter of the two smiled.
"Hello, Jarvis," she greeted, "It's been a while," she noted to the A.I. program.
"It most certainly has, Miss Scarlet," he responded, "Mister Stark, would you like for me to fetch the Iron Scarlet Armors?" he inquired of his creator.
"Yes, please," he replied, "Marks One through Four," he added in request. Erza blinked.
"Four?" she repeated out of confusion. Four containers were brought down in front of her and Tony moments later, with the three ones on the left opening to reveal the older Iron Scarlet Armors.
"First off, Mark One," the genius inventor noted, approaching the red-and-silver suit with the Heart Kreuz design upon its breast-plate, "I understand that it was a little tight around the chest area, right?" he guessed, causing her to blink in surprise.
"Well… I suppose it was a bit uncomfortable…" she admitted, rubbing the back of her neck sheepishly, "But it performed its functions to its utmost best," she assured additionally.
"Yeah, I don't do 'utmost'," Tony remarked as a response with a shake of his head, "It's go big or go home for me," he stated, making the Fairy Tail wizard groan as she pinched the bridge of her nose. Sometimes, the philanthropist Avenger could be a little much for her. "Next up, Mark Two," he continued, "Bit lighter on the alloy, let you be more flexible," he noted, stroking his beard with his left hand, "But… you only got to use it for a day, from what I remember," he mentioned.
"Yes…" Erza confirmed, "The person I fought was… quite tenacious in her methods," she pointed out, taking notice of the slashes through the Mark II's armor. Now that she thought about it, she saw that the Mark I still retained its damages from battle. She whipped her head toward Tony. "You haven't repaired them at all!" she exclaimed, quite shocked that the Avenger had lied to her.
"I swear, you won't need them after you see what I've got in exchange," he promised. Seething a little, Erza narrowed her eyes onto him. She then sighed deeply.
"Just show me the new armor…" she grumbled out.
"Okay, skipping Mark Three…" Tony realized with a grimace, sucking in air through his teeth. He and Erza approached the fourth and final container, which opened up in a puff of smoke. Fairy Tail's Titania blinked in surprise upon seeing what was there. It was an arc reactor in the shape of her guild mark upon a translucent mannequin. The reactor had a silvery pattern around it, shaping into a diamond about the mark itself.
"It's… just a reactor?" Erza inquired as she raised an eyebrow again.
"Well… right now it is," Tony answered while shrugging, walking over to the arc reactor upon the mannequin, "It's actually a housing unit for nano-parts," he told her, "Think of it like… uh…" he continued, snapping his fingers as he tried to come up with an analogy, "your guild!" he exclaimed, "Now, the nano-parts stored in the suit are in… the trillions," he kept going as his client crossed her arms over her chest and listened, "They can remodel the suit instantaneously with just a thought," he mentioned.
"And what would it look like normally?" Erza asked. Tony cracked a smile.
"Friday, wanna give her the peek?" he inquired.
"Absolutely, sir," the female, Irish-accented A.I. program answered to the Fairy Tail wizard's surprise. All of a sudden, she watched as the suit began to materialize from the arc reactor, forming the Heart Kreuz symbol. The armor was a combination of red, gold, and silver, having a slender appearance. Staring at it in wonder for a moment, Erza smiled.
"So?" Tony chimed in, getting her attention, "Whaddaya think?" he asked of his client.
"I love it," she answered, "Thank you so much, Tony," she said with gratitude as she turned to him.
"No trouble at all, Erza," he assured in reply, "This Bleeding Edge Armor for you's gonna be the next big thing you'll need to help keep the multiverse safe," he pointed out as the suit dematerialized, with the nano-parts receding back into the arc reactor itself, "Now you and Friday have the keys," he noted, "so… take it out for a spin," he recommended as the Fairy Tail wizard grabbed the arc reactor, making it disappear in a flash golden light, "Do my job for a day," he added jokingly as a suggestion. The requip user smiled, but then blinked upon realizing something.
"How much did this all cost you?" she inquired.
"Oh, don't go getting into that, it's fine," he assured quickly in response.
"I may not be a genius like yourself, but even I know this must've taken… a lot of money to produce," Erza noted as a retort, "There must be at least something I can do in return," she pointed out. Blowing a raspberry, Tony glanced off to the side.
"I… suppose all I can ask for is… possibly a date?" he offered with a shrug.
"…A date," Erza repeated, earning a nod from the genius inventor, "Where you would likely pay for everything considering that I have no form of currency matching yours, correct?" she pointed out a guess, causing him to blink in surprise and realization.
"I believe you did not think that through, sir," J.A.R.V.I.S. chimed in, causing his creator to chuckle sheepishly.
"In that case, just… keep protecting the worlds aside from just yours," he insisted of the requip user, "I know that threats exist out there in other worlds, some that could be really dangerous if they made their way between them," he told her, "And you've got us ready to help if you need it," he added assuredly.
"Again, I really appreciate that, Tony," Erza replied with a grin.
"Mister Stark, Miss Potts just arrived," J.A.R.V.I.S. informed, catching their attentions, "I think she's upset about something…" he mentioned.
"Oh geez…" the Avenger muttered out in realization, rubbing the back of his head, "Tell her I'll be right up," he requested as he walked off, with the requip user following him. Tapping her foot impatiently in the mansion's foyer, Pepper Potts held onto her tablet as she sighed in frustration as she was waiting for her boss. "Sorry, sorry…" he apologized repeatedly, getting her attention as she saw him approach alongside Erza, "I was satisfying a client," he told his chief secretary. She blinked.
"Tell me you didn't just say that…" she grumbled, narrowing her eyes.
"Okay, now that I think about it, that did sound really sketchy…" Tony admitted sheepishly. Pepper groaned, turning her attention onto Erza.
"And I'm assuming this was the 'client' you were busy with?" she guessed, motioning toward the requip user with her left hand.
"Um, Erza Scarlet," she quickly introduced, awkwardly holding out her right hand, "We… haven't met yet, I believe…" she pointed out. With a sigh, the chief secretary took her hand into her own and shook it.
"Pepper Potts," she introduced in reply, "As to why I'm here during your little get-together…" she continued, glancing over to Tony.
"Is it about the new tower?" he guessed.
"Yes, actually," his secretary replied, "Tony, this is starting to look really expensive…" she pointed out, "and you're still making armors, not even for yourself!" she added emphatically.
"Okay, you're getting me there…" the genius inventor admitted sheepishly while rubbing the back of his head. At that moment, he felt a buzz in his pocket. He reached into it to pull out his ID card. "Ah, hold on a sec…" he requested, "I gotta take this…" he said, tapping the icon at the end of the arrows on the card, "Hello?" he said as he walked off.
"Ugh…" Pepper groaned.
"He's quite a charismatic one…" Erza noted, folding her armored arms over her chest.
"You have no idea…" the chief secretary grumbled out, "This whole Avengers Tower thing he started is going to run his company into the ground unless he comes up with something," she noted over to the Fairy Tail wizard, "He got inspired about hearing about another hero team in another world doing the exact same thing…" she muttered as a mention. Hearing that, the requip user chuckled silently. "What? What is it?" Pepper asked.
"Oh, nothing," Erza replied with a mere shrug.
"Whoa, slow down, Rhodey," Tony's voice said from afar, getting their attentions as they looked over to him, "What exactly's coming towards us?" he inquired, raising an eyebrow.
"That's Rhodey?" Pepper guessed as the genius inventor saw her come over alongside Erza.
"Hey Pepper," the voice of the military officer greeted from the ID card, "Sorry, but I need Tony to come in and check out something we found from our satellites down here," he explained in apology.
"Be right down," the genius inventor assured in response, ending the call, "Wanna come with?" he offered to Erza, causing her to blink in surprise. But then she smiled.
"I don't have anything else going on today…" she noted with a shrug.
FORT DRUM
James Rhodes stood outside of the main building alongside Carol Danvers, waiting for their fellow Avenger to arrive at the military base. They were surprised to find not only their armored colleague flying down, but also Erza, who was now wearing her Iron Scarlet: Bleeding Edge Armor. Both she and Tony landed down, letting their helmets dematerialize from their heads.
"Not bad, huh?" the latter guessed while putting his hands onto his hips.
"Yes, it's a lot more comfortable than I imagined it'd be…" the requip user admitted as he scarlet hair was now in a ponytail.
"Uh… Tony?" Rhodey chimed in, getting their attention, "Who the hell is—?"
"Oh, uh, sorry…" his best friend apologized, interjecting him, "I'm… super bad at manners," he admitted, "Uh, this is Erza, one of my clients that's from another universe," he introduced to his fellow Avengers.
"Hello," the Fairy Tail wizard greeted as she approached, holding out her right hand, "I'm Erza Scarlet," she introduced properly to Tony's chagrin.
"Carol Danvers," the blonde-haired woman introduced in response, taking her hand and shaking it, "Nice to see a lady with the armor on…" she remarked with a smirk.
"Heh," Erza chuckled.
"So what's the big deal here, Rhodey?" Tony asked as he approached the military officer of the group, who took a deep breath and sighed.
"Might be a sign of another alien invasion," he admitted in reply, causing the Stark Industries CEO to blink in surprise. Moments later, the four of them were gathered inside, looking over the satellite images on a large monitor in a terminal room.
"About thirty minutes ago, we picked up images of an unidentified spacecraft nearing Earth's stratosphere," Carol explained, zooming in the image of the craft, which seemed quite grainy.
"Look… familiar?" Tony inquired, arching an eyebrow towards his colleagues.
"No," Rhodey replied, "And that's exactly what I'm worried about," he added in admittance, "This isn't Kree, Skrulls, or anything alien we've seen before," he listed off.
"Well, we can't exactly call them friendlies until we can confirm they are," the Stark Industries CEO realized, "Have they entered the atmosphere yet?" he asked as Erza took a closer look at the image upon the screen, narrowing her eyes.
"They're about to," Carol answered, "I say I go up there and find out if they're friendlies or not," she suggested to her colleagues, who failed to notice Erza have her suit materialize its helmet over her head. Inside, her heads-up display came up as she continued to look at the grainy image.
"Friday, is there a way you can make the picture clearer for me?" she asked of the A.I. program installed in her armor.
"Of course, ma'am," she responded, "Give me a few moments," she requested as icons lit up inside of the requip user's helmet.
"Look, if we don't make the call soon, we're gonna be dealing with a missile getting shot up into air and thousands of people asking questions," Rhodey pointed out to his teammates.
"So let the major do her thing and—" Tony stopped talking as he noticed that Erza had her helmet on. "Uh… Erza?" he uttered out, trying to get her attention, "I… don't think you need to keep your identity a secret…" he noted to her, raising an eyebrow.
"I'm trying to get a clearer look at this picture," she told him. Inside her helmet, the image was starting to become less grainy, zooming in on the craft. Once it did, she could see that there were figures inside, including one that appeared to be piloting the craft, being Rocket. "Um…" she uttered out, getting the attentions of the Avengers nearby, "there's a raccoon in whatever's up there…" she said.
"A what?" Rhodey questioned, while Tony widened his eyes slowly.
"Okay, I've never heard of a raccoon in space before…" Carol pointed out, quite confused as she raised an eyebrow, "I'll just go ahead and—" Before she could say anything else, she heard the doors slam open nearby as Tony had run off.
"Tony?" Rhodey uttered in confusion.
"I think he knows something about this situation…" Erza inferred, hurrying after the genius inventor. Once outside, Tony had his suit's helmet materialize over his head before flying off, using the propulsion of his repulsor to rocket into the air. Inside, his armor's HUD came up.
"Jarvis, how long until the UFO breaches the atmosphere?" he asked of the A.I. program installed.
"Approximately forty-five seconds," he answered.
"And where would it land if no one caught it?" Tony questioned on.
"The predicted trajectory for this unidentified flying object would have it end up in the Hudson Bay," J.A.R.V.I.S. responded.
"Well, I doubt the raccoon wants to go for a swim…" the armored Avenger remarked.
"Tony!" Erza called out, getting his attention as he saw the Fairy Tail wizard fly up to his side.
"Oh, hey Erza," he greeted rather casually, "Sorry for cutting and running, but I think this is kinda serious," he told her as an apology.
"So I could tell…" the requip user noted, "Do you know who's aboard that craft up there?" she inquired of him.
"Well… sorta…" he replied, "Point is, I think they're gonna need someone to help set 'em down gently if they can't themselves…" he noted to her. All of a sudden, the nanites of his suit quickly remodeled themselves at his feet into one thruster, much to Erza's surprise as she gasped. She watched as he rocketed upwards in an instant without delay.
"Incredible…" she uttered out in amazement. And then she realized that she could do the same this. Concentrating, she had her suit materialize the legs together into a single thruster, sending her rocketing upwards in an instant as she yelped out of surprise. She managed to recover some semblance of balance as she caught up to Tony, who smirked to see that she was following him.
Up just above the atmosphere was the Guardians' pod. Rocket was struggling to keep the craft under control, having to flick switches and adjust levers back and forth every few seconds. Quasar and Groot watched on worriedly from behind.
"Rocket, do you need us to—?"
"Shut up, I got it!" the anthropomorphic raccoon interrupted sharply, much to the Kree woman's surprise. She could tell that he was still hurting over Adam and Peter's deaths, especially as his paws gripping the controls were trembling.
"I am Groot…" Groot chimed in quietly, getting her attention.
"Yes…" she agreed in a whisper, "We need to do as Peter requested… for the sake of the galaxy," she pointed out. All of a sudden, they felt a sudden rumble, causing them to yelp.
"Shit…!" Rocket cursed out. The pod had just breached the atmosphere, with fire building around it as pieces were starting to peel off. Warning signs flashed on the monitors, causing the anthropomorphic raccoon to clench his teeth together in frustration. All of the efforts that his two deceased colleagues had provided in the effort to let him and the others escape would be for naught if they didn't make it. Tears pricked his eyes. "Guys…" he whimpered out, getting Quasar and Groot's attentions, "I'm sorry…!" he apologized through a sob.
Without warning though, they started to slow down, with the fire around the pod dissipating. The three Guardians looked out the windshield, widening their eyes. Having caught the craft as they held it firmly were Tony and Erza, who both reformed the legs of their armors from the foot thrusters. Carefully, they brought the pod down to a nearby park, setting it down onto the grass. Several bystanders gasped in surprise, with some pulling out their phones to record the scene.
"Um… Tony?" the requip user uttered in concern upon seeing all the people approach.
"Yeah, just a second…" the Stark Industries CEO said, aiming his right arm toward the pod. A red laser beam was fired from the back of his hand onto the metal, allowing him to carve out a crudely-made hole. Erza was quick to pull off the metal afterwards, creating an opening into the pod. Smoke emitted from the craft before the first figure emerged, being none other than Quasar.
"Ugh…" she groaned out, falling onto her hands and knees, "That was unpleasant…" she admitted.
"Quasar!" Tony exclaimed, quickly helping her onto her feet as his helmet dematerialized, "You gonna be okay?" he asked, hearing her breathe somewhat heavily.
"I should be…" she assured in reply, "Thank you…" she said with gratitude. Erza peered into the pod, only to fall back in a yelp as she saw Groot emerge.
"I… am Groot…" he groaned out.
"Um…" the requip user uttered out, letting her helmet dematerialize around her face, "I'm… Erza…" she introduced unsurely, getting his attention.
"I am Groot?" he questioned back. The Fairy Tail wizard blinked twice.
"You… already said that…" she pointed out.
"You'll get used to it," Tony chimed in, causing her to look over to him and Quasar, "What's going on?" he asked, "Shouldn't Warlock have been able to just… teleport you guys all here?" he questioned on.
"He's dead…" Rocket's voice chimed in, getting his attention along with those of the others. They saw him emerge from the pod, trembling as tears were streaking down his furry face. "Quill, too…" he added sadly, "That purple bastard made sure of it…" he mentioned, falling onto his hands and knees. Tony blinked in surprise before narrowing his eyes, turning his attention to Quasar.
"Who's he talking about?" he asked her. She lowered her head sadly. Noticing that expression, Erza could tell that something dreadful was coming…

SANCTUM SANCTORUM
Levitating in the air in a meditative stance in front of the window at the top floor was a blue-robed man donning a red cloak. He had well-trimmed beard, short dark hair with greying sides, and what looked like an amulet around his neck. His eyes were closed in intense concentration before he slowly opened them.
"Wong?" he said, getting the attention of a bald Asian man in green robes as he was walking by.
"Yes, Strange?" he inquired. The Sorcerer Supreme lowered himself down and had his feet touch the floor.
"It's time," he stated, turning around, "We're going to the Avengers," he decided firmly.
