Luna reached up and scratched her antennae. It didn't really itch, but she always scratched it when she was nervous. Right now, she felt more nervous than she'd ever been before. Joining the crew of the Ravenclaw had always been her dream. Now it had come true. She'd finished her schooling at the Academy and was about to take her first trip into space.
"Are you sure you want to do this, Lune?" Ginny asked, leaning against the wall separating their dorm from the large aquatic garden.
"It's been my dream forever, Ginny. You know that, even though I had to come to Earth to make it real, it has become real. I thought you'd be happy for me?"
"I am! It's just...I don't want you to leave," Ginny admitted. "You're the only real friend I have here, and I'm going to miss you."
"It's okay if you want to cry," Luna said, reaching out to stroke Ginny's hair as she often did when Ginny was upset by something. Luna didn't quite understand the reason it comforted Ginny, since she lacked hair of her own. Her species came from a planet where they'd never developed hair on their heads or bodies. Instead, she had two antennae on either side of her head.
"I'm not going to cry," Ginny stated. "It's not like I won't see you again, right?"
"Right. The ship lands back on Earth all the time, I'm sure we'll be able to meet up, or once you get your assignment, maybe we can meet some where on shore leave. Imagine sitting on some strange planet, drinking something in strange shaped glasses with little decorations," Luna laughed. Ginny smiled slowly.
"That would be nice, wouldn't it. Do you really think it'll happen?"
"I don't see why not. Hey, we've got tonight before I have to pack and meet my new crewmates, how do you want to spend it?"
"With you," Ginny whispered, reaching a hand out and stroking Luna's cheek. "I mean, I know our species aren't known to be compatible, not like..."
"Oh! You mean, like mates?" Luna asked, blinking her wide blue eyes.
"Now you're just toying with me! Do you mean mates as in friends or as in sexual partners, I can never tell which context you use some of our slang in."
"The second, I've always wondered what it would be like to be with an Earth girl, I heard they're very...interesting in bed?"
"So, for our last night together, our last night as roommates here at the Academy, you want to have sex, are you sure?"
"Beyond sure, and then maybe if it's good, we might do the same thing on the pink sands of Rookery?" Luna suggested, winking at Ginny. Ginny laughed, grabbing Luna's hand.
"Right, alright, I guess, we should start with a kiss, see how that goes?"
Luna nodded, leaning in as Ginny did the same. Their lips brushed against each other and then they pulled back.
"That was, it was different than what I was expecting, in all your Earth movies, kisses look so magical."
"That's all fake, everyone's first kiss is a bit awkward, should we try again?" Ginny suggested. Luna nodded, kissing Ginny again, this time the kiss lasted a bit longer and when they pulled back both of them breathing heavily.
"Yes, that was more like it, I think, maybe we should head back inside, unless you'd like to, um, out here? I know some humans-"
"Our dormroom," Ginny said quickly, grabbing Luna's hand and pulling her inside, kissing her again as they made their way up the stairs to the room they'd shared for the last five years. Ginny fumbled with the key as Luna slid her hands down Ginny's back. Finally managing to get the door open, Ginny nearly fell in as Luna kissed her. The door was quickly closed and locked as Ginny and Luna spent their last night together under the blankets exploring each other before Luna had to leave the next morning.
