I own nothing, this all belongs to Uncle Rick and Tolkien, I just get to play with them.
Running through camp, his breath heaving, was the great Perseus Jackson. Hero of Olympus twice over, traveler of Tartarus, greatest swordsman in the last 300 years. What was he running from, you may ask?
His girlfriend. He was running from his girlfriend, Annabeth Chase. The two had come home from New Rome for the summer, wanting to spend time with their friends, and Frank and Hazel had ridden Arion here, and Leo and Calypso had flown Festus out, and Piper had even driven over for a summer together, all six of them together since-well since Jason.
It had been a shock for everyone to learn that the larger-than-life son of Jupiter had passed, and it had taken them all some time to wrap their heads around it. Camp Jupiter had made good on Jason's mission, with many shrines made to the gods and many in construction. Percy had even helped out on the minor sea god ones.
Anyway, back to the moment at hand, what was happening? Right; mighty hero running from his girlfriend. Most of the older campers were used to the couple's antics and just chuckled at the sight of the boy. Some of the newer campers stuck their heads out of their cabins, wondering what could cause the amazing Percy Jackson to run like hellhounds were after him. (He had had the unfortunate pleasure to know just what that felt like, and he was not a fan.) "Hey Perce, hang left!" someone shouted. Glancing up, he saw it was Connor Stoll, son of Hermes, doing gods knows what on the roof of the Apollo cabin. Probably dropping stuff through the hole in their ceiling. "Thanks man!" he yelled back.
Ducking behind a cabin, he paused for a few seconds, gasping for breath, before poking his head out, only to see a fuming Annabeth storm past. Taking off again, he found himself in front of the Hades cabin. Rushing inside, he slammed and locked the door, only to turn around and see a half-awake Italien pointing a sword at his jugular. Holding his hands up in a universal 'I mean no harm' gesture, the boy-his cousin, Nico Di Angelo, affectionately nicknamed Neeks, or Ghost King by him and Thalia, his other cousin, both on the godly side, lowered his sword.
He looked him up and down a couple of times, noticing his ruffled hair and slightly terrified expression, before letting his sword drop, though not sheathing it. "Percy! What's wrong." He looked slightly concerned to see the younger boy so terrified, as Percy could sass the gods themselves and not even show a hint of fear.
"Are there monsters? Did they get past the border? Is another god out to burn you ali-?" he cut himself off, seeing Percy's waving his head no.
"It-I-" Percy coughed, still trying to regain his breath. "Worse," he managed to choke out before the pounding started.
"Perseus Jackson!" The livid daughter of Athena sounded so angry, Zeus himself could probably hear her up in Olympus. "You can't hide in there forever!"
Paling even further, he hissed, "Nico! Hide me! Please!"
The edges of the younger boy's mouth twitched up, saying, "You mean… you… Annabeth…" he cut himself off, falling to the floor in a heap of laughter.
Annabeth banged again, louder, and yelled a few curses. "Nico!" scolded Percy, who was still rolling on the floor in amusement. "This isn't funny!"
"Really? Cause I think it kinda is," Nico snorted as he stood up.
The two boys' conversation was cut short when Annabeth reminded them of her presence.
"Nico! I'm speaking to you. Get Percy out here in the next three seconds!" The or else didn't need to be spoken. Nico had also been on the bad end of Annabeth's temper before, and it involved being tied to a tree with an apple on his head, and newbie campers practicing archery.
"Three!" Annabeth started her countdown.
Nico's eyes flicked between the door and Percy, clearly contemplating throwing him to the wolves. Percy knew it too, and growled, "don't you dare."
"Two!" Looking around the room, Nico gave a long-suffering sigh.
"One!" He grabbed his arm and dragged his to a corner of the cabin, ducking into the shadows just soon enough to see his door being kicked down, and an angry 19-year-old girl stalk in, and glared at them.
The two boys stumbled out of the shadows only to be met by a silver arrow pointed at them, with a circle of girls with loaded bows surrounding them.
"Um, we come in peace," Percy said.
"Seriously Perce, when has that ever worked," Nico complained.
"It was worth a shot," grumbled Percy.
"Nico, Percy, what are you two doing here?" Asked the stranger behind the bow. Oh, wait-it was just Thalia.
"Well your magnificence, we'd love to answer, but I think your hunters are still debating whether or not we're on the menu tonight," Percy said.
Glancing around, Thalia saw that her hunters were still surrounding the two boys, their bows at the ready. "Stand down women," she says. Grumbling, they did as she said, and returned to the campfire.
Turning, she waved them along, signaling the two to walk with her. Two hunters made to follow, glaring distrustfully at the boys, but stopped when Thalia said, "Diana, Kylie, it's fine. They're my friends." The two nodded, gave them one last glare, and walked back to the other hunters.
"How's Reyna?" Percy asked.
"She's good. She's leading the other half of the hunt. They're driving TF to us, and we can hopefully do a pincer move and trap it between the two of us. She's showing real leadership promise. Lady Artemis and I agree that if anything were to happen to me, she would be the next Lieutenant."
The two nodded, both fond of the fierce Roman. Thalia turned around and glared at them suddenly.
"Now, what did you two numbskulls do, and why are you here."
Squawking at the insult, Nico said, "I meant to shadow travel to the other side of camp. Speaking of which, where is here?"
"Portland, Oregon."
"Pffttt! Nico, you're shadow traveling's pretty rusty, huh."
"Oh, shut up. You're the reason we're here anyway. Why were you running from Annabeth?"
"Oh, right. So, I decided to go swimming."
"Okay, and?"
"And I decided to pull Annabeth in as well."
"Okay, and?"
"And I forgot to keep her wet."
"That's it? Why's she freaking out over gettin wet?'
"I wasn't done yet. She had her laptop with her."
They stopped, standing on a cliff edge overlooking the sea. The other two stared at him open-mouthed, wide-eyed for a few seconds, before Thalia said, "you are dead meat."
Looking at her offended, he said, "I dried it off."
"It's the principle of the fact that you got her laptop wet Kelp Head."
"I'm starting to think I should take you back and let you face her wrath," Nico said.
"Hey!" yelled Percy.
Percy and Nico were bickering when Thalia cut them off, yelling, "hold up! What is that?" she said, pointing at Percy's hand, where a small ring, with a gold band, and small pearls inlaid in the sides and a small sapphire at the center.
Smiling sheepishly, he rubbed the back of his neck with his non-bejeweled hand, chuckling nervously.
"Right. That."
"Kelp Head! You got engaged and didn't tell me!"
"Well, you haven't been around in a while, and it just slipped my mind."
Shaking her head, she said, "well you can make it up to me by telling me exactly how it happened.
"So, during the Fourth of July fireworks show that the Hephestus cabin always does, you know the one, at the very end I got them to put in the fireworks the words 'Marry Me' and when they showed up, I got down on one knee and I just-"
He was cut off by Thalia squealing and grabbing his hand to get a better look at the ring.
"Um-I thought you're not supposed to get all excited over weddings and stuff."
"Oh shut it Kelp Head, I just can't have romantic relationships. I can still get excited that my little Annie's getting married."
Suddenly, clouds rolled in overhead, and the sky turned black, thunder rumbling ominously. The ground trembled. They looked out to the sea, where giant waves were rolling through, breaking roughly on the rocks.
"Wow. Wonder what's got our parents so worked up?" Nico said.
"Hang on, doesn't anyone think it's suspicious that all three of us are together?" Thalia said nervously.
"Alright, I think we should head to Olympus and see what's going on. Nico, can you take us there."
"I mean, sure Water Boy, but I will need a long nap afterward."
"I'll get your pillow," Percy said dryly.
The two looked at Thalia.
"I might as well come, see why dear old dad is so upset. It's fun watching his temper tantrums."
"Alright, everybody, grab hands."
Thalia hesitated. "Come on Thals," Percy said, "we're your cousins."
"Your also boys. And with that logic, doesn't that make Annie your cousin once removed," she said but grabbed Nico's hand. Percy made a face at her as she grabbed Nico's hand.
"Hold on tight, enjoy the ride, and try not to barf all over me," Nico said, before stepping into the shadows. He concentrated on the Empire State Building, knowing that if he traveled right into the throne room he might get blasted by an angry god.
He started walking, pulling his cousins with him, then something went wrong.
The shadows he had been in control of turned on him, and instead of him telling them where to take him, they took him where they wanted. And he didn't know where that was. The last thing he felt was his cousin's hands slipping from his own before a bright flash of light invaded his shadows.
A/N
Alright so anyone who is going to come at me for Percy and Annabeth being too young to be engaged if you didn't hear they're 19 in this, I just feel like their relationship is rock solid and we all know they're going to get married, and if I went through what they did, I might want to put a ring on it. Like, they went through hell together, and I think that they would want to really cement their relationship after that. Besides, Greek demigods don't usually live that long so while they know that they can because Romans live a normal life, they don't usually.
I need answers here and now before I have to rewrite chapters if you want Frodo in the story or if you want him to sail to the Undying Lands. I don't care either way so if you want to see Frodo in this tell me. Leave in the comments below if you want Frodo in the story or not.
