Original Summary (NOT written by me): Link and his fairy guide, Navi, are journeying through Hyrule when they learn that an interdimensional portal has been opened and is sucking in anything and everything that gets near it! Link and Navi discover a riddle that tells of five magical items that will close the dangerous portal. Even though Link has Princess Zelda's help, this quest won't be easy. Link and Navi will have to journey through Kakariko Village, the Lost Woods, Goron City, Dodongo's Cavern, and Zora's Domain.
Will Link be able to save Hyrule, or will he and Navi get sucked into the portal like everything else?
General Author's Note: The idea to rewrite/revise the book came to me one day as it will always be a part of my childhood. I purchased it when I was an older teen and loved how Link was given a voice and a mini-story connected to the main plot of Ocarina of Time. As I've gotten older, I noticed inconsistencies from what is cannon in the game and other details that are incorrect, like how *spoiler* Navi is described growing green, not blue *end*. There are other scenes that don't make sense, *spoiler* like how Navi leaves Link to get help while he holds onto a branch for dear life as the portal basically got stronger, and he holds on long enough until Impa, who came all the way from Hyrule Castle, comes and saves him *end*. Generally, everything is too vague and there's not enough exposition. Of course, I won't be making this an exposition-filled fan fiction, but I hope I put in enough details to help readers get an idea of the setting and what is going on.
I do acknowledge that West may have had little understanding of Ocarina of Time let alone the Zelda series. Not to mention she may have gotten permission from Nintendo and had to follow some sort of protocol while writing it. Lastly, I know she wrote for younger audiences so that's why it's such a short book. I am simply making it longer and I'm writing it for a wider audience. I will be keeping the original chapter titles and may add more chapters-I'll be sure to put that in the author notes when I do that. In summary, I will be making some major and minor changes to the story, though the overall plot will stay the same. Thanks for taking the time to look this over and enjoy reading!
