*Prologue: Proposal*
"Sir, can't this wait till morning?" Alfred asked, coming in the Batcave to see Batman removing his cowl. He brought out a small black box and opened it. A diamond ring is inside. For months he had been holding a ring, waiting for a right moment to ask Mia to marry him. After the traumatic events back at the Arkham Asylum, Bruce knew that Mia is the one for him. She is perfect. She is all he wanted.
For two years, he and Mia have been together since. When he is Bruce, he and Mia go out on dates and he felt happier whenever he is with her. Yet he loves spending time with Axel. As Batman, it was business, yet loves to hear Mia's support for him. She always tells him to be very careful, fight off criminals, and be back on time before dawn. Every hero needs a good night sleep.
Back in September, Bruce took Axel to a jewelry shop and revealed he wanted to marry Mia. The boy was surprised by the news, but happy that Bruce is planning to do so. Axel sees Bruce as a father figure since the beginning. The ring has been hidden for months because Gotham needs Batman. It was hard for Bruce to find a right moment to pop a question to Mia.
It is December 19th, and it is time for him to ask her to marry him. He can't wait any longer.
"It's now or never, Alfred. Things have gotten in a way. I have to ask her." Bruce told his butler. "Tell her that I need to be stitched up."
"Very well, sir." Alfred said. He picked up a phone to dial Mia's cell number. "I do hate to wake her up this late, sir. Especially when you don't need treatment." Bruce couldn't help but to smirk.
"God, I told him to be careful." Mia said with annoyance as she is driving through the streets of the city. When she got a call from Alfred, she knew she was needed in the Batcave. It's past two in a morning. She hates leaving Axel home alone at night, yet she will always text him if she had to stay in the night at the manor. But she will come back home after the dirty work is done.
When Mia arrived in Wayne Manor, she was about to head down to the Batcave, but she sees Bruce in the room where the Christmas tree is. He gave her a smile. He was sitting on the couch, patting the spot next to him.
"Bruce?" Mia walked inside. "Are you okay?"
"Mia, sit down. There's something I have to ask you." Bruce said. Mia sat next to him, but looking for a rip of his bat suit. He isn't hurt. She gave him a look. "I'm fine. Look, you are here for a real reason." Bruce told her.
"Bruce, it's two in a morning." Mia said, rubbing her tired eyes. Bruce took her hand and stare at her with seriousness.
"Mia, for two years now, we've been dating and working together since." He said. "You and Axel mean a lot to me. I never let anything happen to any of you. You made me happy, Mia. I love you. More than anything." Mia stared at him, but smiled. Then, Bruce went down on one knee. Mia felt her heart leap. Could it be? Bruce took out a black box. "I've been meaning to ask you for months, but things got in a way. Now is the time." Bruce said.
"Bruce..." Mia whispered, covering her mouth with one hand. Bruce opened the box, revealing a beautiful diamond ring. Mia gasped a bit at the sight of it.
"Mia, will you marry me?" Bruce asked. Mia felt like crying. She looked at the ring, then at Bruce. Her heart is pounding. Mia gave him a smile as tears form in her eyes.
"Yes... Yes I will." Mia said. Bruce smiled. He took the ring out and place it on her finger. They stood up and embrace each other. They started to kiss passionately. Mia cupped his face as she felt his strong arms around her. They pulled away and press foreheads. "I thought you'd never ask." She whispered.
"Now I did." Bruce said.
"This is all I ever want." Mia said, looking into his blue eyes. "All I want is you. I am considering this ring as a early Christmas present." Bruce chuckled. He picked her up in bridal style, making her giggle. He kisses her. Mia wraps his arms around his neck. Bruce pulled away to look at her.
"Think you could...stay the night here?" He asked, raising a brow at her with a smirk forming on his lips. Mia didn't say a word as her face is turning red. But she didn't want to lie. She wanted him. They've waited too long.

Their clothes were scattered all over the floor in Bruce's master bedroom. Bruce is on top of Mia, kissing her as he thrusts in and out of her under the sheets. Mia moans in pleasure, her hands on his back. She felt nervous when she was brought to the bedroom, yet Bruce has been patient with her. He went slow, gentle. Proving that he really loves her. Bruce is making love to her. The women he slept with in the past weren't compared to Mia. This is love. Not meaningless sex.
Bruce stares into Mia's bluish gray eyes as he thrusts into her. He plants kisses on her delicate neck, groaning. Mia brought her head back, panting a bit, wrapping her arms around his neck.
"Bruce..." Mia whispered as she feels his warm body on her. Bruce groaned a bit and kept going. He grabs the headboard while his other hand locks on Mia's hand where her ring is. Soon, he let out a loud grunt as he releases, and Mia let out a cry. Bruce rolled to the side, catching his breath, bringing Mia close to him. The woman placed her hand on his chest, feeling his heartbeat. "Oh, Bruce...that was...wonderful." She said. Bruce kissed her head, stroking her bare shoulder.
"I love you, Mia." Bruce whispered. He gave her a kiss on the lips. Mia rests her head on his chest and closed her eyes. Soon, Mia will be Mrs. Wayne.
Bruce woke up by the sound of a phone. Alfred would be answering it. He turned his head to see his fiancee asleep next to him. He smiled and brush the hair away from her face. Mia stirred a bit and opened her eyes to see Bruce's handsome face.
"Morning." Bruce greeted, caressing Mia's cheek. Mia smiled and brought the sheets up to cover her chest.
"Good morning to you too, handsome." Mia said. Bruce leaned over to kiss her. He brought himself on top of her, kissing her neck, making her moan a bit. "Bruce, it's too early." Mia giggled. Bruce chuckled and kissed her cheek. A knock was heard on the door, making him sigh.
"Yes?" Bruce called. Mia covered herself in case the butler comes in, but thankfully he didn't.
"Begging your pardon sir, but Axel is on the phone, asking for Mia." Alfred spoke outside the door. Mia gasped a bit, but giggled. She covered her face. She totally forgot to text Axel last night. Bruce noticed her expression and couldn't help but to chuckle.

Mia took the phone from Alfred. She is dressed back in her clothes from last night. After apologizing to her son for not texting him, she told him the good news. But what surprised her is that Axel knew about the ring months back.
"It's about time he asked you, mom. Guess things do get in a way." Axel said on the line.
"I suppose. Well, if you want, I could come and pick you up and bring you here." Mia said. "Sorry again for not texting you last night. Turns out that Bruce isn't injured in any way. And...I was too tired to come home."
"Uh-huh." Axel said. Mia could imagine the smirk on her son's face when he said that. Mia sighed and told him she will pick him up after breakfast and hung up. Her face turns red when she thought about last night. She smiled to herself. Now she will have to tell her family about her engagement. They will be so thrilled.
Bruce is in the dining room, reading a newspaper while drinking his coffee. Mia walked in, giving him a kiss on the cheek and sat next to him. Alfred walked in with breakfast. Bruce gave Mia a smile and place his hand over hers.
"You know in two days, I'll be giving a speech about shutting down Arkham City." He said. Mia frowned a bit. She remembered hearing about the Arkham City project and is against the idea of placing inmates there. She was annoyed by the fact that Mayor Sharp took the credit of stopping Joker in the asylum and have Hugo Strange to be in charge of Arkham City. What was that old man thinking?
"You want me to come with you?" Mia asked.
"You don't have to. Yet Gotham will know about our engagement." Bruce said. "Look, I'll tell you what. After my speech, I will take you out for dinner and we will discuss about our wedding. And our honeymoon." Mia giggled. Bruce brought her hand up and kissed it. "After Christmas, you and Axel should pack and move here." The woman couldn't help but to smile more. "Deal?"
"Deal." Mia replied, gripping on his hand. "Let's hope this Arkham City will be shut down. Gotham won't be feel safe when lose inmates are roaming around."
"It will be sorted. Don't worry." Bruce sipped his coffee as Mia took a bite of her bacon. She gave him a glance. "What?" Bruce wondered. Mia smirked.
"Just so we're clear. After we are married, it didn't mean I will be your new Batwoman or something." She said. Bruce couldn't help but to chuckle. Like she will take Kate Kane's place. But Bruce wouldn't have Mia to become a crime fighter like him anyhow. He will treat her normally. Mia wouldn't want to be treated like a trophy wife either.
Professor Hugo Strange has been studying her for quite some time. He looked over the files of Mia Harlow. He form a smirk as he heard recent news of Bruce and Mia's engagement in Gotham. Mia has been a big talk since she was with Bruce Wayne after two years, and she has been involved with Batman along with her son. Things couldn't get any better.
"Oh, this is beautiful. How I look forward of speaking to her." Hugo spoke. A TYGER guard walked in the office to speak with the professor.
"Sir, a target is with Wayne. We are holding fire as requested." He said.
"Ms. Harlow and her boy will be joining us the day Mr. Wayne will give his speech." Hugo said. "Keep out of sight." The TYGER guard nodded and left the professor alone. Hugo let out a chuckle. "Mia will witness Protocol Ten. And she will watch her close ones die. Even the Batman..."
