AN: I'm going to do something that I have never really done before o.o A fanfic that doesn't hinge on an illness, an accident, or anything major. Just a run of the mill normal fanfic focusing on normal things. It's really a new thing to do for me so I hope I do it well.
AN2: This is a continuation on my fic Repeat but you don't need to have read that one to understand this one. Main thing is that this is a future fic, Kuon has recently finished shooting internationally after receiving an Oscar for Lead Actor, Kyoko is the actress representing Japan like she dreamed, and they have a four year old daughter named Aurora.
AN3: the car accident is in repeat. it was not created for this fic. i am intending to make this a positive fic but it is still a sequel so feeli do need to explain a few more tragic things from that one

Chapter One
Kyoko smiled as she looked at the cards that her daughter had received for her birthday. Even though they would have taken this year to make the first huge event for her, it felt nice that they had celebrated yesterday as a small family. She placed a hand on her belly and smiled as she remembered how Kuon had just stared at her for a moment in complete shock when she had told him and then hadn't unfrozen until she had said that she was excited and happy. She had carried Aurora in her womb and Kuon had been so nervous to finally be becoming a father. It was too cute.
Kuon loved her and Aurora more than anything and he had come back to do domestic roles so she could stay in the country which she loved. Soon he would be looking at his own options for domestic roles and she wasn't going to stand in his way but she didn't like the idea of him having to dye his hair for a role. She sighed as she looked at the cards again and stepped back. So much love. Her daughter – Their daughter was so loved.
Kyoko closed her eyes before smelling something strange. Eggs. Okay. Maybe eggs in the morning was a normal smell to experience except for the fact that she wasn't cooking them. That meant that one of the two other people were cooking and she was nearly certain that it wasn't Aurora .She blinked before going into the kitchen and saw Kuon at the stove.
"What…are you doing?" she asked him as she neared him slowly. She knew that of all the things which Kuon could accomplish easily, cooking was not on that list.
"I was going to make my girls breakfast," he said with a childlike grin and she raised an eyebrow. She laughed as she thought about how cute he looked. She loved when he gave her those adorable looks but this wasn't giving her a lot of peace.
"You were going to what?" she asked as she moved forwards and stared at the fried eggs in the pan. She stared at them for a moment longer before seeing something in another pan, seasoned meat? She stared at him as if there had been an alien taking over his body. She pulled back as she heard the sound of the rice cooker and lowered the heat causing him to look at her confused.
"Okay. Stand right there," she said before she reached up to touch his forehead as he blinked back at her. "No fever," she looked him over, "Proportions of the face are correct. Body proportions are correct. Okay. What kind of a dance is ten-"
"Tentekomai?" Kuon asked her before laughing. "If you keep asking me the same question every time then you really won't know if I'm an alien or if I'm real." He said and she hummed. "I can't cook?" he asked and she nodded.
"You've only been successful cooking when I've been by your side. You can do a lot of things, Corn, but you cannot cook," Kyoko told him and Kuon laughed weakly. "Am I supposed to think that you just woke up this morning and decided to cook breakfast."
"I…" Kuon bowed his head, "I've been watching some cooking tutorials and I thought that if I slow down and consider what I'm doing then I might be able to make something," he said awkwardly and she looked over the items he was making. He seemed to be doing well. She found a notebook with a very detailed list and about ten bullet points on how to fry an egg which he had made check marks on.
"O…kay,' she said slowly before pulling back a little and allowed him to get back to cooking. "What brought this on?"
"You've been making sure that I've been okay recently and I just know how important breakfast is to you so I decided to see if I could do it," Kuon checked the food and turned the heat on the stove off before serving it onto three plates, one plate had a bigger portion on it than the other two and Kuon turned back to look at her.
"How is it looking?" he asked and Kyoko waited, just staring at the plate and examining it. So after all of these years she had known him he had been able to cook breakfast for them. She continued to stare at the plate before seeing Kuon's adorable face with his eyes which were too cute even for a shojo manga asking her if the food was okay. She sometimes wondered if he would kill her by being far cuter than necessary.
"How is it?" he asked with the puppy dog begging look.
"It looks…looks good," she laughed before carrying two of the plates to the table and saw that Aurora was already sitting in the living room playing with her toys. Aurora dashed to the table as Kyoko set the food down and watched Kuon carry his own plate. She went over to him and kissed his cheek. "Good job, Corn." She told him as she let her head rest against his shoulder. Kuon had been in such a bad place recently that it was good to see that he was starting to get some life in him again.
"It looks yummy" Aurora said as she looked at the bacon and egg with rice. "Hamburger egg is mama's favorite," she announced.
"Well hamburger doesn't make as good a breakfast food as bacon does," Kyoko said before staring at the plate again and looked to Kuon. Even though this wasn't a hard food to make for most people, the fact that Kuon had made this for them seemed to bend the laws of the natural world. "Did you know that Daddy made this this morning?" Kyoko told her daughter and Aurora looked between her parents.
"Nuh-uh," she shook her head and Kyoko laughed. "Daddy can't cook."
"Well he did this morning," Kyoko smiled before eating it and blinked at how delicious it tasted. What tutorials had he been watching? How did he learn how to season food like this? She took another bite before looking to her side and saw that Kuon was just staring at her as if waiting for her to tell her if it was good or not. She frowned before flicking some rice at him. "Stop it," she whispered.
"Mama, playing with real food is bad," Aurora said and Kyoko nodded before looking up at her husband to see that he was still looking at her wondering if he would be praised or not.
Kyoko sighed, "Yes, it's bad. I'm sorry," she said before giving a fake glare to Kuon. "Try it yourself if you want to know whether it's good or not."
"But it's more fun if you enjoy it rather than if I do. I don't have a good pallet like you do," he told her and Kyoko stared at him. She saw him tilt his head further to the side and lifted a finger to point at him.
"You're going to teach Aurora that she just has to be unbelievably cute to get whatever she wants. You really do know how to manipulate people, Kuon." Kyoko said before hearing Aurora laugh.
"Because he's an actor," she said not really understanding the point of the conversation but she had heard enough from people involved in acting that actors could manipulate others with their words and body language. Kuon laughed as he shook his head and Kyoko nodded as she laughed as well.
"Well, Daddy is going to be looking for some roles soon so that he can do more acting over here. He's not going to be working primarily in the United States any longer." Kyoko reached out to take Kuon's hand and squeeze it. Aurora's grin grew as Kuon nodded. "And yes, it is suspiciously delicious. In fact, it tastes so good that if I hadn't seen you make it with my own eyes, I would have thought that you had someone cater it."
"I think you can do anything if you try," Kuon said before looking at his daughter. "I think that's a really valuable lesson, Aurora, if you work hard and give it your best attempt you may be able to do anything you set your mind to."
Aurora hummed before looking away. "I don't want to be an actress."
"Okay." Kuon nodded with a smile, "Is there something you would like to be? You don't have to be an actress if you don't want to. Your mommy and I love acting so that's what we are but you can be whatever you'd like to be. We'll always support you and if we can try to help you gain your dream."
"I don't have to be an actress?" Aurora asked as she looked between her parents. Kuon shook his head quickly.
"You can be anything that you'd like to be. We don't need for you to be anything other than what you dream of being or even not that, we just need you to be you," Kyoko said and Aurora smiled. "We love you, baby."
"You tell us what you'd like to be whenever you're ready," Kuon encouraged her. He turned to Kyoko with a smile, "I mean, your mother didn't know what she wanted to be when she was your age. There was even a short period of time when I didn't want to be an actor but then I realized that I did want to be one. And you don't need to even know now what you'd like to be."
Aurora nodded as she continued to eat the meal that Kuon had made for them.
"So are you going to talk to Director Ogata today to see what he wants to do with the drama. I know that he wants to see you whenever you're ready to talk to him," Kyoko said and saw Kuon sober up and sit at the table with a straight back and his hands resting in his lap. A few months ago Kuon had been involved in an on-the-set car accident that had led to a young boy getting hit by the car Kuon was in and had died from this. Kuon was still attempting to settle the matter despite him having tried everything in his power to prevent the accident and save the boy's life. Kyoko watched him as she saw him become still and more introspective.
"I'll talk to him," he nodded with a weak smile. "I'll leave it up to him how he wants to proceed with this." Kyoko looked over at Kuon and saw a flash of Tsuruga Ren in how he was handling himself when it came to this terrible incident in his life. She smiled and took his hand. She loved him and he would love her.
Love was beautiful when it was reciprocated and unconditional like theirs.
