Author Note: This story basically serves as the story arc I believe Chloé deserved, instead of the (n my opinion) bad writing we got. These will be basically rewritten versions of some major story implications for Chloé, written from her perspective and also adding my own twist. This story will have some cursing because I imagine Chloé curses in her head a lot. Just as a disclaimer, I'm not some Chloé stan who thinks she can do no wrong or that she's perfect. In fact, I think her flaws are integral to the character development that will be explored in this story. Also this version of Chloé isn't freaking racist and didn't make those comments about Marinette's uncle and Kagami.
"This is it! Here she comes! The international queen of fashion, director of "Style Queen" magazine, Audrey Bourgeois!" announced Nadja Chamack.
The famous Bourgeois family exited the limousine. Despite the obvious displays of wealth and luxury, Audrey looked unimpressed. "Anthony— Uh… André, be a dear and fire the chauffeur. I can't believe Gabriel allows his staff to drive like that!"
Chloé followed close behind her mother. "And neither do I!" She proudly declared.
"Yes, of course, Audrey dear!" André whimpered behind the two.
Chloé was ecstatic. Her mother had FINALLY come back. The last time Chloé had seen her mother was about four years ago when she was around ten, when Audrey decided to move to New York for business opportunities. Mr. Agreste was throwing a fashion show for the first time in years since Mrs. Agreste disappeared, which prompted her mother to make the flight all the way from New York to Paris. Chloé hadn't even heard from her in years, so she knew this was the perfect time to bond with her mother, and she would not be leaving her mom's sight the whole day.
They walked down the red carpet, with which, of course, Audrey already had a problem. "What is this carpet? Is it fabric? Why isn't the red carpet made out of marble like I said!" She turned to Officer Raincomprix, Sabrina's dad, who was security for the event. "You're fired! Ridiculous, utterly ridiculous."
Roger flashed an indignant look and Chloé shrugged at him. She knew Mr. Raincomprix pretty well since she was normally always with Sabrina. But not today of course. Today was all about impressing mom.
The trio walked down the carpet over to where Nadja was reporting and stood in front of the press. "Audrey, like the slogan of your magazine says "If it's in good taste; it's in "Style Queen"!" So, what's in good taste this year?"
Audrey flicked her wrist dismissively. "Judging by the way you're dressed, you obviously don't know my dear."
Chloé forced out a laugh at Nadja's expense. She didn't think she was dressed that badly, but she felt agreeing with her estranged mom was a bit more important than Nadja's feelings.
"For your information, the trend this year is glitter."
Nadja appeared unbothered by the dig at her appearance. "As the editor of Style Queen, you spend a lot of time in New York. It must be nice to be with your family for a change here in Paris."
Chloé figured this was her time to shine, to show her mother in front of everyone how much she loved her. "She's very happy to see me. By the way, Mom, I have a little something for you." She eagerly pulled out a little gift from her pocket.
Audrey grimaced at the gesture, furrowing her brows and pursing her lips. "Clara— Uh… Chloé, what is this?"
"Um, it's a gift?" What the hell else would it be, mom? She thought.
"Ugh, this wrapping paper is ridiculous, utterly ridiculous." She shooed Chloé away with her hand. "You're fired."
Chloé put the gift behind her back and flashed a weak smile at the camera.
Her father gasped. "Darling, please! You can't fire Chloé. She's your daughter!"
Nadja's expression could tell she didn't know how to respond to such a ridiculous interview so she remained neutral. "Audrey, how long are you planning to stay in Paris?"
"The shortest possible time." She stated, then walked away, Chloé and André following behind.
"Thank you. This fashion show just might be one of the most important in Gabriel Agreste's career, as evidenced by Audrey Bourgeois' presence, will the famous fashion..."
Chloé stopped listening upon the mention of Gabriel Agreste. Adrikin's utterly ridiculous father who never lets him out of the house, limiting Chloé's contact with him. Of course. Whenever her mother came to Paris, it was always about Gabriel from some reason. She even attended Emilie Agreste's funeral and Chloé didn't know she was even in Paris until there was a post about it social media.
As the Bourgeois family continued their way down the red carpet, a derby hat with feathers rolled on its side, hitting Audrey's golden, high heel shoes.
"What is this?" Audrey asked, picking up the hat and pointing to it. Suddenly, Marinette was running up to them. Chloé internally panicked seeing her. Oh hell no, Marinette Dupain-Cheng is here with her winning hat, probably to ruin my chances of impressing my mom. Chloé quickly stepped in.
"Uh, Mom? This is Marinette Dupain-Cheng, the loser! And this is a hat she made, because she thinks she's a designer." Chloé held the hat upside down. "She even signed it, look."
"I— It's not me, it's another Marinette! I was just bringing it to, uh—" Marinette awkwardly stammered until another voice interrupted her from the side hall.
"Marinette! We have to go." It came from Adrien's father's assistant, Nathalie Sancœur.
Marinette ashamedly ran off with Nathalie, taking the derby hat back from Audrey, who looked off in her direction, raising her ovular sunglasses in intrigue.
Audrey and Chloé descended the stairs into the seats for the fashion show. She felt disgusted by the state of things and the fact that they had a bunch of poor people sitting in the front row.
"How dilapidated is this place? And I have to share the front row with this group of low-lifes? Ridiculous!" She sits down in between Marinette's mom and Alya Césaire. "Utterly ridiculous."
Alya gave Audrey a quizzical look. "Uh, sorry, but that seat is reserved for Marinette."
"This Marinette girl, again?" Audrey said, annoyed.
Chloé again, jumped at the chance to defend Audrey. "Let me handle this, Mother." She turned to Alya, the rest of Marinette's class, and her parents. She even saw Marinette and Nathalie approaching them. "Hey, losers! Do you know who my mother is? She's Miss Style Queen: the most powerful woman in the world of fashion. This show is for her, okay? So, get lost!"
"Oh..." Rose let out a whimper before an unimpressed Nathalie approached the Bourgeois girls.
"Mrs. Bourgeois, Mr. Agreste has reserved a seat for you."
"Ah, finally," Audrey stood up.
"In the second row." Nathalie corrected with a stoic look on her face.
Audrey gasped. "WHAT?!"
While Chloé was also surprised, she was also elated at the chance to defend her mother, once again. "My mother always sits in the front row.
Nathalie didn't budge. "Not today."
Audrey raised her voice. "This is unacceptable! Gabriel cannot do this to me! I'm the one who discovered him!" She waved her arms around in another dismissive manner. "Without me, he'd still be drawing his unworldly designs in his dismal, grim studio!"
"I can offer your seat to someone else if you don't want it." Nathalie offered.
"How dare you? You're fired!" Audrey said, her iconic line.
"I don't work for you, I work for Mr. Agreste." Nathalie deadpanned.
She took out her phone. "We'll see about that!" She spat, and attempted calling Gabriel. Nobody answered.
"Please leave a message" said Gabriel's voicemail as Audrey let out a furious growl.
"I assume from your expression that I'm not fired." Nathalie retorted, raising an eyebrow.
"This is unacceptable! I will not view a fashion show from the second row, ever!" Audrey walked off in anger, Chloé making sure to follow her.
How dare these people treat my mom like she's not the most famous person in the room right now? At least I can comfort her though, then she might pay more attention to me. Chloé thought. Her, along with André accompanied Audrey as she stormed off, standing behind her.
Suddenly Audrey stopped for no reason.
"Mom?"
"Audrey, dear?" Both were confused. After a moment, she finally said something.
"They'll see who's queen, Hawk Moth."
JESUS FUCKING CHRIST. Mom was akumatized!
The two watched as Audrey was overtaken by purple clouds. They started freaking out and ran off, knowing that Audrey was already vicious and savage as her normal self. Imagining an evilized version of her was unimaginable at the power she could have.
André and Chloé, still in panic mode, ran into the fashion show where Audrey was turning everyone into a golden glitter statue. She even ran into André and turned him into one too.
"Fired!" Style Queen declared.
"Mom!" Chloé called out from behind her father.
"Claudine— Uh, Chloé," Really? Even her akumatized form can't get my name right? It doesn't matter. Maybe I could impress her in this form too! "I'm not Mom. I am Style Queen! Do you want to be fired, too?"
She was right. Style Queen's whole body was made out of glitter.
"No, no, I really don't, Style Queen! Uh... besides, don't you need an assistant?" She clasped her hands together and did a cutesy pose.
It was then, that Chloé finally felt wanted. Her own mom may be evil, but she allowed Chloé to assist her. It was more she could have ever dreamed of, even as Audrey took Chloé. But it didn't feel right that the only time that her mother wanted to spend time with her was when she could use Chloé for evil purposes while the "good" version of her mom didn't even give her the time of day. Especially when she was attacking Ladybug, Chloé's favorite hero!
She did whatever she could to get Style Queen away from Ladybug, such as taking her to Gabriel Agreste's house since she was most angry at him. When he wasn't there, they went back to the Eiffel Tower, where Style Queen held the glitter statue version of Adrien Agreste, putting her akumatized rose in his mouth and placing a protective golden glitter forcefield around him. Then, she put Chloé in charge of watching over Adrien. When Chloé tried to question it, Style Queen showed no mercy and threatened to fire her too.
That was when Chloé realized that being on Style Queen's side wasn't worth it. This wasn't Audrey.
"Make yourself useful, assistant. Tell me if you see Ladybug and Cat Noir!" Style Queen commanded.
"Yes, Style Queen!" Chloé saluted her. When Style Queen dissolved to go somewhere else, Chloé fell to her knees, holding her hands on her forehead. "Oh, what am I gonna do, what am I gonna do?"
Style Queen placed a time limit on Gabriel or the heroes showing up, causing Adrien's glitter body to start dissolving. Chloé tried everything she could to break the forcefield but it was no use. "Oh, it doesn't break... Adrikins, wake up!"
It was then that she heard Ladybug up above her.
"Psst! Ladybug! Hurry up!" Adrikins is crumbling!" she whispered.
"Did you see where your mother's Akuma landed?" Ladybug asked.
"It's in the rose she put on him. Where's Cat Noir?"
"I wish I knew."
"You better come up with something fast, my mother is going to see you!" Chloé urged but it was too late. Style Queen was back.
"It's really impossible to find qualified staff these days." She pointed her staff at Chloé. "I cannot believe this Cassidy- I mean, Chloé! How could you betray me?"
"What did you expect mom? Do you really think I'd let you turn my best childhood friend into a glitter pile?"
"Does it look like I care about you useless children? You're fired!"
Suddenly Chloé was zapped by her mother.
The next thing Chloé remembered was being brought back to normal by the Ladybugs. The first person she saw was Adrien.
"Adrikins!" She ran over and gave him a hug. "I was so scared!"
The two walked over to Audrey, who seemed to be back to normal. "What am I doing here? You're all fired!" She yelled.
"Yep, she's back to normal." Chloé laughed, causing Adrien to laugh as well. Chloé then took her mother down the stairs of the Eiffel Tower, explaining what happened to her.
Chloé amped up the flattery. "Oh, Mom, if you only knew what a great team we made! We fired a bunch of incompetents. It was awesome! We should really spend more time together. What if I went back to New York with you?"
"Don't be ridiculous, Casserole- Uh, Chloé. First I have to get back to Gabriel Agreste's fashion show." She responded. Another letdown. And really? CASSEROLE? Out of all the wrong names, she picked Casserole?
As they descended the Eiffel Tower, Chloé began losing all hope that her mom would ever show any type of attention or love for her. Now she had just realized it had been like this for years. She finally decided to give up. There was no way that her mother would ever show that she cared.
After a long walk down the stairs because the elevator was broken, the two were panting and extremely tired.
Audrey especially because she wasn't as young as Chloé. Panting, she said, "Remind me to tell your father to fire the person in charge of the Eiffel Tower elevators... This is... unacceptable. Utterly... unacceptable.
"Of course Mom," Chloé replied, deflated. Suddenly she bumped into something on the ground, a black jewelry box with a complicated red design on it. She gasped and picked it up.
When she got home later that evening, she sat on her bed, looking at the mysterious box. She opened it, revealing a bee-themed hair comb. When she opened it, a yellow orb started floating around her. The magical orb dissipated to reveal a giant yellow and black shaped Bee creature with deep blue and yellow eyes. "Hello, my Queen," it said, doing a little bow.
Chloé was completely shocked to see this weird creature.
"Who are you?" she said.
"I'm Pollen, the Kwami of the Bee Miraculous. I can turn you into a superhero with the power to paralyze your opponents!"
"Whoa, seriously? Like Ladybug and Cat Noir?" Chloé marveled at the creature.
"Yes, they have Kwamis too!" Pollen responded. "If you want activate your powers, all you have to say is: Pollen, buzz on." To activate your power of subjection, you say Venom. After you activate the power you have five minutes before you transform back to your normal self." The yellow Kwami buzzed.
"Pollen, buzz on!" Chloé was soon transformed into a bee superhero, with a skin tight yellow suit with black stripes.
"There's no way Mom will ignore me now..." Chloé said, looking in the mirror at her new supersuit. "Damn I look good even as a superhero! I just have to wait for an akuma..."
Chloé transformed back to her normal self and went to bed, excited for the chance she just received. She wondered if that's how Ladybug and Cat Noir found their Miraculous. Just... sitting there on the ground. It almost seemed kind of reckless, but she was grateful to have this opportunity anyway. She drifted asleep, dreaming of herself as a superhero saving Paris and her mother finally giving her the praise she rightfully deserves.
Author's note: Oh my God I am SO tired of typing the word "Bourgeois." Anyway thank you so much for reading :)
