Here we are at Duel Academy. It is a place where duelists gathered to become professionals by getting good grades, or other things like that.
The lessons taught here will help a new age of duelists surpass the old, and bring the game of Duel Monsters to an entirely new generation to the game. One such duelist with dreams of becoming the greatest, is Kevin Yuki. Unfortunately said duelist went missing sometime ago. He was special alright, and the reason why is because he became a professional duelist at the age of 10. He won several competitions, and defeated Seto Kaiba himself, and was rewarded a Dragon Spirit of White card.
Following the disappearances, several students entered and graduated from Duel Academy. One of which, his younger brother Jaden, a clever, and strong duelist entered the academy since Kevin, and one of his best friend Atticus Rhodes vanished.
Jaden suspected that the Abandoned Dorm was the place where Kevin vanished. No luck, and was caught with campus security but explained why he did which the chancellor Sheppard told him it was wise looking for his brother but regardless he needs to be punished, which the Vice-Chancellor Dr. Vellian Crowler arranged.
He selected the Paradox Brothers but they were beaten by Jaden, and Syrus teamwork. Soon after a school duel was arranged between him, and a hotshot student named Chazz Princeton.
Chazz was a former student of Duel Academy who had left after suffering numerous defeats against Jaden and another duelist named Bastion Misawa and attempted to start again at the rival school of North Academy. After a long fought battle however, Jaden managed to defeat Chazz again and Chazz realized his place had always been at Duel Academy, though with his former Obelisk Blue ranking dropped down to Slifer Red.
A few days later Jaden had face a challenge held by a Gravekeeper's Chief. He passed, and he and his friends escaped.
Then they were called to Sheppard's office about he had all 7 of them to protect the Spirit Keys from a mad group called the Shadow Riders, and protect the Sacred Beasts. One of which showed up not long ago, a young boy named Nightshroud who was revealed to Atticus Rhodes upon being defeated.
That is where out story begins.
It was late at night where someone on a Dragon was flying to Duel Academy island as he landed.
"Good going Retro Dragon." He patted the Dragon's head, "I'll take care of what Nightshroud started."
The Retro Dragon simply growled calmly before vanishing as the figure turned towards Duel Academy.
"Soon enough the Spirit Keys will be ours." the man said calmly.
Meanwhile in the Infirmary...
"How are you feeling Jay?" asked a short blue-haired boy.
"I'm fine Sy, well more or less." Jaden answered with a grin before looking towards a window. "Have any more Shadow Riders shown up yet?"
"Not yet, but we can't be too careful. Who knows when they'll show up next." mentioned a blonde girl. "We need to be on our guard."
"She has a point Jaden, you aren't the only..." Syrus started just as a roar echoed across the island.
"What was that!?" a panda looking boy cried hiding behind a door.
"It sounded like a dragon." answered a boy in a black outfit.
Suddenly the blonde girl's eyes widened as she turned to a boy with dark blue hair. "Wait a second, Zane didn't that sound familiar?"
"Honestly... yes it does." Zane admitted with narrowed eyes.
She frowned hearing that before walking to the window. She sees a silhouette of a big dragon in the distance flying up.
"No way... that's..." the girl whispered before taking a fearful step back. "Zane... it is him."
"What, what is it?" Zane asked walking, and taking a look out himself.
He saw a silhouette of a dragon he recognized, a demonic looking dragon.
"That dragon... There was only one person we know who has that." Zane said in shock.
"Yeah." the blonde girl nodded before glancing back towards the unconscious boy lying in one of the beds. "If he's one of the Shadow Riders... what are we supposed to do now?"
"What are you guys talking about?" a brown haired boy wearing a yellow blazer asked.
"Another Shadow Rider is on the island Bastion." Zane answered before frowning. "One who could very possibly beat every single one of us and release the Sacred Beasts on his own."
"Leave this one to me." the black jacket boy said confidently.
"No way Chazz, this is a duelist who might even be more skilled than Zane. You're completely out of your league." the blonde girl told him. "You'd definitely lose."
"Please, this punk has no chance of taking me out." Chazz stated confidently.
"That's an interesting conclusion Chazz, because I seem to recall that Jaden and I both managed to defeat you." the yellow blazer boy noted.
Chazz flinched at that. "It was pure luck, that's all."
That didn't made Zane, and the girl at ease as Zane told her, "Alexis if it is him then we need a big plan."
"Yeah I know." Alexis nodded in agreement before closing her eyes and frowning. "I just wish I knew where to even start."
"And we can't stay away." Jaden admitted to them, "We gotta battle who it is at some point."
Hearing that Zane and Alexis exchanged a glance before Zane nodded.
"Jaden... you already know who it is." Alexis told him.
Jaden blinked confused, "What?"
"You're in no shape to duel anyone... but you of all people should know who owns the Archfiend Black Skull Dragon." Zane told him.
"W-What?" Jaden asked shocked.
"It's true Jaden." Alexis told him. "Now do you get it?"
"But-but... He'd..." Jaden said holding his head.
"Something happened to both of them Jaden, there has to be a connection." Alexis pointed out.
"I don't like what you kids are talking about." a blonde haired man wearing a blue blazer coat walked in.
"You were eavesdropping Dr. Crowler?" Zane inquired.
"I was merely here to ask if you heard that roar a while ago." Dr. Crowler answered.
"We did, and we know who it is." Alexis answered.
"Well shouldn't we investigate?" the panda boy asked.
"Chumley has a point." the boy in the yellow blazer agreed.
"Come on Jay." Syrus said helping him up.
Jaden nodded nervously. "Yeah... thanks Sy."
They headed out where the dragon was at the Abandoned Dorm.
"Syrus, you and Chumley should head back and stay with Atticus." Zane told him.
"Can you help Jay?" Syrus asked his brother.
He nodded before moving to support Jaden. With that Syrus, and Chumley headed back as they arrived.
"This is where that dragon was." Alexis said to them.
"So, are you the one who took down Nightshroud?" questioned a voice from inside the Abandoned Dorm.
"That's right." Jaden confirmed.
"Alright." the voice noted as who walked out wearing a black cloak that shapes like a dragon, and wearing dragonic mask was the Shadow Rider having brown hair.
"I knew it, what happened to you Kevin?" Zane questioned.
"Oh so you know this weak guy, I took possession of? He was a stubborn one but his body is serving quite nicely." the Shadow Rider smirked.
"His body? What are you?" Alexis asked him. "Who... no what are you?"
"Allow me to introduce myself. Malek, Spirit Guide of the Shadow Riders." the Shadow Rider answered with a mock bow.
Zane frowned before activating his Duel Disk.
"Oh so your first against me?" Malek smirked to him.
"That's right." Zane replied.
"Very well." Malek smirked preparing himself.
Alexis helped support Jaden as they moved back to watch the duel.
"DUEL!" Zane and Malek called together.

"I'll be taking the first shot." Malek said drawing looking before saying, "First I'll summon this card face-down. Then I'll set two more cards down. That's all for now."

Zane drew his card before closing his eyes. 'Alright it's been a while since we've dueled so I can't hold back.' "I'll start by summoning Cyber Dragon Core in attack mode."

At that a stronger version of Red-Eyes appeared roaring.

Zane frowned at that as Barrier Dragon blocked the attack.

"Alexis run!" Zane shouted.
The attack struck as Malek grunted. (Malek: 2400)
"And now here is Alternative's ability! Rise back Red-Eyes with double his points!" Malek grinned as Red-Eyes appeared again growling. (ATK: 2400 x 2 = 4800) "Now avenge your comrades Red-Eyes! Inferno Fire Blast!"
The attack charged at Twin Dragon. Zane braced himself as Cyber Twin Dragon shattered.

"Huh? Why didn't he attack Barrier Dragon?" Bastion asked seeing that.
"You're complaining?" Alexis asked.
"Your move mortal." Malek told him.

"If you attacked my Cyber Barrier Dragon you would have won the duel." Zane told him. "Instead, you made a costly mistake. I activate the spell card Power Bond!"

The dragon attacked as Malek watched in shock, "Oh, no!"
The attack hit as Red-Eyes roared in agony as Malek screamed out landing hard as his mask broke apart landing on his stomach.

Zane wins the duel!
Zane frowned before walking over to Malek and checking his pulse and breathing. He's fine only stunned.
"Just like Atticus." Zane whispered before smiling softly. "Come on, we need to head back to the infirmary."
"I'll help ya out." Alexis said helping what used to be Malek with Zane as they headed back.
In the infirmary...
"My word... Just like Atticus he was missing, and now came back as a Shadow Rider." Dr. Crowler said seeing him resting.
"There has to be something going on at the abandoned dorm." Alexis replied before looking at Atticus and the unconscious young man and wiping her eyes only to pause. "Jaden, are you alright?"
Jaden was staring at the young man not taking his eyes off him. She frowned before walking over and putting a hand on his shoulder. "He's back Jaden... Kevin's back with us."
"Yeah, I... I thought he was gone forever." Jaden said looking down.
Alexis turned Jaden around and hugged him. Jaden hugged her back before they heard a grunt. Hearing that they turned to see who it was. It was the young man who was tensing, "No... No I'd... No... no, no..."
He shot his eyes open shooting up to sit up, "No!"
"Kevin!" Jaden cried in horror.
Zane, and Chazz went over, and placed their hands on his shoulders as he breathed in with sweat.
"It's alright, you're safe." Zane told him.
"Z-Zane?" Kevin asked looking up, "W-What just happened to me?"
"We were hoping you would know." Alexis admitted. "You don't remember anything that happened to you?"
"It's..." Kevin started before placing a hand on his head closing his eyes, "Grr, it's all a blur."
"It's alright, the important thing is you and Atticus are back and safe now." Zane mentioned.
"Atticus? Wait, Atticus he was with me!" Kevin realized looking around, "Where is he?"
He noticed Atticus still out cold in one of the other beds. Gasping in horror he asked, "What happened to him?"
"It's a long story, we'll explain everything once you've gotten some rest." Zane answered.
Kevin sighed nodding before Jaden, and widen his eyes, "J-Jay?"
"Yeah... it's me Kevin." Jaden confirmed wiping tears from his eyes.
Kevin smiled before telling Alexis, "Bring him here Lex, please."
Alexis nodded helping Jaden over to the bed. Kevin hugged him once he got close enough. Jaden had tears as he hugged him back.
