Popular, now that was a word Sonic was well acquainted with. While it wasn't his favorite word or even a word he'd use to describe himself, it was most certainly a word that'd been well ingrained into his psyche. Yes, Sonic was popular, he had been most of his life. This didn't change when he graduated high school and entered college, and the blue speedster figured it simply never would.
Currently Sonic was scanning the halls of the pristine building, seemingly looking for something. A couple of girls passed by him, he believed their names were Amy and Sally. Amy was a year younger than Sonic, she being 20 and he being 21, he didn't know much about Sally though.

"Lookin' good cutie-hedge~!"

Amy winked flirtatiously, her and Sally giggled and sped up to pass the male. Sonic was used to this of course, but those two weren't who he was looking for.

Ahah!

Sonic thought to himself as he spotted a light golden fox who had long emo-styled bangs and two big bushy tails. True to his oddity this fox was named Tails, and he'd been Sonic's biggest crush since his final years of highschool. Tails was 19, he and Sonic had initially met in middle school but the hedgehog hadn't been the nicest to the vulpine back then. Having been popular Sonic had always brushed everyone off and only ever stuck to a small group of friends. But he'd been ignorant, and it wasn't until around age 17 that he'd started to develop feelings for the younger mobian. But it'd been too late and Tails had moved away, 4 years had passed and now they were here. Tails had moved back to the city to start college, it'd only been a few days since classes had begun and Sonic hadn't yet had a chance to apologize to the fox for how rude he'd always been.

Smiling the blue hedgehog quickened his pace, he'd raised his hand and opened his mouth to say hello when-

"Yoo Sonic!"

A red echidna appeared in front of the hero and gave him a hardy high-five, Sonic hadn't even noticed his best friend approach.

"Oh uh heya Knuckles, what's up?"

Sonic spoke apprehensive as he stole a peek behind the other mobian, Tails was already on his way towards the buildings exit to go home. Sonic sighed, but luckily Knuckles didn't notice his friends down-ness.

"We're gonna throw a BIG party at Shadow's house later, he's outta town so me and some other dudes thought it'd be the perfect place to celebrate the first weekend of the school year."

Sonic bit his cheek, looking at the echidna with narrowed eyelids.

"Does Shadow know about this party?"

"Nah, but I'm he won't mind. Dudes rich anyways, anything breaks and he can replace it easily. You comin'?"

Sonic rolled his eyes, but smiled idly.

"Yeah sure, sun down I'm guessing?"

"YeaHP!"

Knuckles cheered, walking past the hedgehog and slapping his shoulder hard in the process, Sonic winced but it didn't hurt much. Knuckles started hooting like a mad man as he marched towards the large open doors of the college, catching others attention as they shared his enthusiasm.
Sonic looked towards the entrance of the building, the golden light of the afternoon sun cast a warm hue on the white floors of the immaculately clean building.

Golden sunlight, golden fur.

Sonic darted out of the college at high speeds, leaving a blue blur behind him that lifted the skirts of a few nearby girls. Some giggled and some yelled after the speedster, but Sonic payed them no mind as he searched for his objective. It didn't take him long to spot the fox, and before he could get much farther down the road Sonic had zoomed in front of him.

"Huh?"

Tails questioned, looking the hedgehog up and down. His tails twisted curiously behind him, Sonic smiled as his emerald eyes met the fox's ocean orbs.

"Hey uh, Tails is it? I'm Sonic, I'm sure you remember me haha. We went to highschool together."

"Hmm, yeah I remember you. You've literally saved the world at least a dozen times, you're pretty popular."

"Right..."

Sonic looked upwards towards the crystal blue sky, a cool breeze blew some leaves away from the plush green trees that dotted the sides of the road and beyond. The college was a few miles outside of the city, a small forested area surrounded them, the sparkling city could be seen behind the two in the distance.

"So, do you need something, Sonic?"

Tails questioned, he was polite and his tone was soft, but it was obvious he didn't entirely care for this interaction.

'Ahah sorry um, yeah, my friends are gonna throw a part tonight, would you like to come?"

A golden brow raised, the fox blew casually at his elongated bangs as he clasped his hands together behind him. Fluffy tails fidgeting.

Fuck that's cute.

"Sure, though I won't be able to stay for long since I have studying to do."

Sonic snapped to attention, immediatly smiling wide.

"Ye-Yeah that's fine, of course! And ah snap, welcome back by the way! It's been some time since you moved ahaha."

Tails smiled as well, this time it was more friendly rather then just polite.

"Thanks, see you around."

The fox made his way around the hedgehog, who also turned to wave him goodbye as he walked toward the city. Once Tails was out of ear shot Sonic let out a breath, his cheeks were flushed slightly, his eyes sparkling.
