I do not own RWBY or Godzilla. They belong to their respective owners.
Enjoy!
"You heard me right. I want you to blow up Madison Square Garden."
That was the order that was intended to end the threat. The creature that had destroyed so much of Manhattan, and if its offspring lived on, they could potentially overtake the human race. That was something that the Colonel would not allow.
"Understood sir."
Hicks hung up the phone and turned his attention back to the screens. Everything was riding on this. If this attack didn't work, the human race could be looking at an extinction-level disaster.
That was why he was elated when he saw the stadium explode. He might miss some games, but the fact that those lizard monsters were gone was all he needed to sleep well tonight.
But inside the stadium, an event occurred that no one could have foretold.
One of the eggs survived the explosion. It was buried deeper and further away from the rest of its siblings. And it was a late bloomer, only just about to hatch. The moment the explosion occurred, the egg had been hiding inside one of the stadium's secret rooms. A place the parent thought would be safe for the more fragile egg.
And when a small crack appeared on the egg, it wasn't flames that enveloped it. It was a white flashing light.
And when the fires settled, the egg was gone.
"Adam! What were you thinking?!"
Ghira Belladonna was not a man to get angry very often. Especially these days. Between his work as the leader of the White Fang and the fact that his wife was pregnant, he found it best to try and keep his temper under control. But Adam had a special skill for getting under his skin. In the worst ways.
"I did what I had to do. This is justified."
"Justified?! Adam, you just killed three men. This was not the mission!"
"The mission was to save kidnapped Faunus. I did that. And honestly, killing them was no worse than taking out the trash."
"You are not to talk like that Adam! What you did is inexcusable! I have half a mind to-"
"Ghira!"
Turning his attention behind him, the leader saw Sienna Khan trying to intermediate.
"We can discuss Adam's actions later. Right now, I think we should send people out for searches."
"Searches?" Ghira asked.
"It's possible that some of the kidnappers escaped. We need to make sure that they didn't take any children with them."
Ghira took several deep breaths to calm himself. Sienna was right. Adam could be dealt with later. The children came first.
"Get the kids we found to the trucks. The rest of you spread out. Look for any that might have slipped past us." Ghira turned around. "That includes you, Adam."
Sending a scowl his leader's way, Adam nonetheless ventured into the forest's trees to search for any potential stranglers. Once he was gone, Ghira took the chance to speak to Sienna privately.
"Please tell me you don't actually approve of any of the things Adam is doing. I'm afraid that he is losing himself."
"He's fighting for our people sir. He has the best intentions."
"Sienna, you and I both know the saying about good intentions. They don't always make for good people," Ghira said. "Go and do your work. We can discuss this further once this is over."
Following his orders, Sienna readied her chain whip as she ventured into the trees herself.
Sienna wondered how much longer the organization could last like this.
She knew that for any group, small or large, a strong base and chain of command were necessary. Otherwise, the entire thing might fall apart before it could accomplish anything. And if the White Fang fell apart, the hopes and expectations from the entire Faunus race might fall apart with them.
As much as she beginning to disagree with Ghira, she had to admit that Adam was acting out of line when he spoke to their leader. He was chosen to be in charge, and his term had not expired. That meant that until or unless he was voted out of his leadership, the members of the White Fang were obligated to follow him. They weren't animals, the way the humans might like to think of them. The whole point of their organization was to prove that stereotype wrong.
What made this even harder was the fact that Sienna had her agreements with both Ghira and Adam. She believed peaceful negotiation and talks were the best way to bring about peace between humans and Faunus. But like Adam, she understood that the humans would not give it willingly or easily. If they had to fight to take it, then so be it.
The keyword in that statement was 'fight'. She was willing to fight for freedom and equality. But what Adam had in mind... sometimes she wondered just how damaged the bull Faunus really was.
Shaking her head, Sienna tried to focus back on the mission. She had been asked to find any stragglers. And so far, she wasn't seeing any. There was not a person in sight. She might have seen and heard a squirrel a few feet back, but that was it.
But then something changed. Sienna stopped when she felt something warm emanating from her left side. She turned her head and saw a momentary flash of light. One that blinded her for a split second. But once the light was gone, she saw...
Nothing. The trees were still the same. The bushes hadn't suddenly disappeared or anything like that. It didn't look like anything had changed.
But then she heard the little sounds.
They almost sounded like small grunts or exertions. Like someone struggling. Keeping her hand on her whip, Sienna moved closer to the sound. It could be a hostage that had a gag. Or it could be one of the escaped kidnappers drawing her towards a trap. In either case, she would be ready.
The sound was just behind one of the bushes. With her chain whip in her hand, Sienna moved the bushes to the side...
"Ah."
And saw a baby lying naked on the floor. The absolute last thing Sienna expected to see.
The baby was obviously a Faunus. That was clear by the lizard tail that was sticking out of its back. There also seemed to be the small and bumpy beginnings of spikes running up the baby's spine. Aside from the reptile features, the baby was also rather tan, with a skin tone similar to her own, with shockingly thick black hair on its head.
"?"
And it was looking up at her with orange eyes that were as innocent as they were curious.
And it was upon seeing those eyes that Sienna instantly became angry. Those kidnappers must have taken the child from its parents. It was likely that one of them had tried to run with it when their caravan had been attacked. If that was the case, then they had left it there to lose the weight. That light must have been a flash grenade, or maybe their semblance. They left a baby in the woods to die.
"Let's get you up little one."
Taking off her White Fang cape, Sienna used it to wrap around the child's nether region. While she did that, she was also able to learn that it was a boy. The boy was also surprisingly calm and well-tempered while Sienna worked on him, not making a fuss or a sound while she covered him. She was grateful for that. She would have helped him, but dealing with a messy and crying baby did not sound like a good part of any day.
Once she was done, she lifted the quiet child up and headed back to the rendezvous point. She would need Ghira's help with this.
"My grip is slipping. I might get voted out of my leadership if this keeps up."
A train of thought along these lines was the only thing going through Ghira's head. He knew that his methods of peace were losing their favor among the White Fang. This was true for both the higher-ups and the common members. Few of them believed that his leadership was bringing about the results that the Faunus wanted.
And on days like this, he doubted himself as well.
He was beginning to think that perhaps he should step down as the organization's leader. Not just because of his waning popularity, but also because of Kali. And the child that she would need his help raising. She was just about to turn one.
Walking back to the rendezvous point, Ghira could see that a lot of his people were back as well. A few of them had children with them. Thankfully, they mostly seemed fine. Stepping on to the point, Ghira noticed that Adam and Sienna had still not returned.
"Ghira!"
He recognized that voice.
"Sienna. How did your...?"
Ghira's words stopped when he saw Sienna. Specifically, when he saw what she was holding.
"Wh- where did the baby come from?"
"I was hoping someone here would know that," Sienna said as she stopped right in front of her leader. The little baby was resting comfortably on her shoulder. "Did any of the people we rescued mention anything about a missing infant? I don't know what else to do with him."
"No. At least, no one I've talked to mentioned anything about a baby," Ghira said as he eyed the little boy. He took note of the lizard tail hanging from its back. "Go with our medics. They should be able to look him over. And they'll be able to help you find his parents."
"Understood sir."
Sienna walked away to find the medics, leaving Ghira to shake his head. He knew that some humans had hatred and fear of Faunus that extended beyond reason. But he was never comfortable with the idea that they would willingly take a child from its parents. Especially one so young.
"Belladonna."
Adam was back. Ghira could tell by the voice and the tone. Discontent held behind a veil of respect. For someone with so much anger inside of them, Adam was surprisingly good at suppressing it.
"Did you find anything Taurus?" Ghira kept his personal observations to himself. He was a leader, and it was best that he remain diplomatic even when his own subordinates irritated him.
"No. I didn't run into anyone while I was searching. Did anyone else have any luck?"
"A few. Sienna was even able to find an infant."
For the first time since the mission started, Adam's perpetual frown was replaced by a look of confusion.
"A baby? I thought it was only children that were kidnapped. Where did the baby come from?"
"Sienna is with the media right now, trying to figure out that same question. We can go and ask her if you'd like."
Adam nodded. "Alright."
The two of them walked towards the White Fang truck they had arrived in. They saw Sienna, still holding the baby as the paramedics took a look at it."
"Sienna? Why are you still holding him? It's alright to leave him with the professionals."
"I tried sir. But when I tried to let him go, well..."
Sienna tried to hand the infant over to a female paramedic. But the moment it seemed that he would be taken out of Sienna's arms, the baby's face scrunched. His lips were quivering, and while he made no sound, it was clear that tears would be following soon.
So Sienna quickly took him back.
"Thank you, Barbara," Sienna told the woman at the bab settled back with her. She then turned back to Ghira and Adam. "That happened the first time too. And since it might not be a good idea to distress him at the moment, I'm stuck holding him."
"He got attached to you pretty quick, didn't he?" Ghira asked with a chuckle. He moved closer to ruffle the kid's hair Somehow, the boy didn't mind.
"He's a Faunus alright," Adam noted as he looked at the kid's black-scaled tail. "The humans are becoming worse than filth. The fact that they would try to do something to a child like this."
"Adam, you can't condemn them all for the actions of a few. Not all humans are the same."
"Tell that to the kid here," Adam retorted. "I'm going to meet up with the fighters. We'll await your orders."
Adam walked away. No one else noticed it, but the small boy was watching him with nervous eyes. He didn't like the bull Faunus.
"He's getting worse," Ghira told Sienna. "I don't know how much longer I'll be in charge."
"Sir?"
"The council will be holding their yearly meeting soon. They will be the ones to decide whether or not I continue to lead the White Fang. Based on how things have been lately, I don't like my chances."
"But, sir..."
"It's alright Sienna. I never expected to lead forever. And I already know who I will vote for to take my place."
He rested his hand on the tiger Faunu's shoulder.
"There's no one else for the job."
Sienna's eyes widened. "But sir, I'm just one of your soldiers. I-"
"You're a fighter, and that's a good first qualification. You will also do well as a negotiator."
"Sir?"
"Don't forget, you managed to stop the argument between me and Adam from escalating. That's a good skill for a leader. And your own philosophy seems to be between my own and Adam's."
Ghira looked out upon his soldiers. Many of whom were flocking around Adam.
"My ways no longer seem effective. And you are more willing to use force without going overboard. I think you might be the best person to lead the Fang."
Sienna was silent as she tried to process what she had been told. She had to admit, the prospect of leading the White Fang was as enticing as it was nerve-wracking. If she were in charge, she would able to lead the organization in a direction she felt would work best for them.
She would allow her soldiers to fight when she felt that fighting was necessary. And she could a note from Ghiras book and chose to talk when the opportunity presented itself. Diplomacy and self-defense. But she would also have to deal with descent. Adam was grinding on Ghira, and she had a feeling she would have to deal with that as well if she became the leader.
Sienna's musings were cut short when she felt a small hand on her neck. She looked down to see the boy holding on to her. As much as Sienna's arms were getting tired, she had to admit that he was cute.
"Anything?" She asked Barbara.
"He seems healthy. No injuries or sickness that I can tell. But I am concerned by his silence. It's unusual for a baby to be so quiet."
Everyone present had to agree. Even when he was threatened with separation from Sienna, the baby had not made a single loud sound from his mouth. Aside from the small noises Sienna had heard him make earlier, the boy seemed to be mute.
Was he?
"We should get moving. I had put in the call while we were out," Ghira suddenly said. "Some of the children we rescued have nowhere to go back to. So we'll be taking them back to Menagerie with us."
"Ghira, is that a good idea?" Sienna questioned. "The island isn't the biggest place in the world. Do you think we can handle so many more people?"
"Maybe not, but I'm not going to abandon a bunch of children right after we rescued them. This is the right thing to do."
Sienna nodded. While she had her worries, she also didn't want to leave orphans behind. it would with on her conscious.
"By the way, you're inc charge of the boy."
Sienna's eyes widened. "Sir?"
"Until we can find his parents, you seem to be the person he trusts most. Let's get moving people!"
Ghira directed the rest of his men to get supplies and people ready fr departure. Leaving a stunned Sienna alone with a lizard Faunus baby. One that was smiling at her.
And despite her misgivings and annoyance, Sienna couldn't stop herself from smiling back.
"I guess I'm stuck with you little guy."
The boy responded by lifting up his hand to Sienna's chin. Earning himself a wider grin.
"Now what should I call you?"
This is where I will be stopping for now. This is an idea that recently sprang into my mind, and I decided to write it down to get it out. Let me know if you guys think it is worth continuing.
If I do continue, I would mostly focus on settling Zilla into the world of RWBY before I make him change anything. Right now he is a Faunus (sort of), but I do intend for his Kaiju form to eventually show itself. That would be fun.
I should also clarify that this story would focus more on the action since I don't really know how good I would be at romance. But I do think I could give it a shot. Regarding that, I have two options.
One is to go with Blake Belladonna, a character I already intend to have Zilla interact with throughout the story. I think that given the personality I have in mind for Zilla. Also, since she is a child as mentioned here, there will be no past romance between her and Adam, who is nearly an adult here. I never liked the idea of them together, so I won't even bother with it.
The other option I have in mind is to introduce Komodithrax, who was Zilla's mate in the original show. It would be easy to have her start this story as a Faunus who changes over time. And I do like the idea of a Kaiju couple.
By the way, the next chapter will be where Zilla gets his name for the rest of the story. You can probably already guess what it is. It will also be the chapter where Sienna may or may not be convinced to sign some adoption papers.
Anyway, please leave reviews, tell me what you think, and I will see you all next time.
Bye!
