Hi, thanks for clicking on my story. Please note that this is my first fic. And I can't do accents. Enjoy!
Jack didn't have to open his eyes to know he was at the North Pole. He had come the day before. It was spring, he was on break. Something didn't feel right but he couldn't put his finger on it. He opened his eyes and immediately knew the problem- he didn't have his staff. This was strange because he normally cuddles it like a teddy bear while he slept. Instead, he found himself gripping a meddle pole to his chest. He got up and checked the handle on the wall that the yetis had made for him. But it wasn't there. He started to get nervous. He didn't like being away from his staff for too long. It helped him control his powers. They seem to go crazy when it wasn't with him. He walked down the stairs which was odd he usually just jumped off the railing by the window sill where he slept. North had offered him a bedroom. But, he had told North that he was completely fine with sleeping on the window seat, so North attached cushions to it. He went to the kitchen. No one was there. He got even more nervous, who's going to help him find it? Jack gave himself some cereal and poured himself some milk. He wondered for the millionth time what liquefied milk tastes like. Whenever he attempted to drink milk it turned into slush. He sat down and began to eat just as North walked in.
"Good morning Jack," North said.
"Morning North," Jack mumbled back.
"Are you alright Jack?" Asked North.
Jack shook his head as frost patterns fell from his eyes. North was shocked this was the first time he saw the spirit cry. But it wasn't loud crying to call attention to the child; it was silent crying like he didn't want to be heard.
"Jack, what's wrong?" asked a concerned North.
"North…. I-I can't find my staff." Jack whimpered.
"WHAT!"
"I hope you know that you woke me up North." Exclaimed Tooth as she flew into the kitchen. She was there as well as all the other Guardians. They had a meeting yesterday that lasted from 5 pm-10 pm. So North told them to stay the night. "Oh, good morning Ja-are you okay?" Tooth asked. North ignored Tooth.
"You can't find your staff? Did you look inside the holder the yetis made?" North asked
"Yes. I did." Answered Jack trying to wipe the tears that had frozen on his cheeks. "You lost your staff?" asked Tooth gently as she sat beside Jack. Jack nodded "I woke up and it wasn't there" Jack replied with his voice trembling. Tooth smiled sympathetically.
"Want some advice?" Jack nodded "Remember to breathe," said Tooth "When you lose the source of your powers you must remember to breathe."
"It's not the source of my powers it helps me control them," Jack explained.
"Really," asked North. Jack just nodded.
"Can you show us?" Asked Tooth. Jack took a deep breath, bit his lip, and closed his eyes. Snow starting to fall from the ceiling. Tooth looked up.
"Wow."
The snow started to get heavier.
"Jack you can stop now."
"I-I can't"
"What?"
"I can't stop it."
"What do you mean you can't stop it?"
"I mean I can't stop it" Jack was crying again. It was obvious he wasn't lying.
"Why not?" asked Tooth.
"I can't control my powers without my staff." Jack sniffed.
"I'll ask the yetis to search," said North.
"Good idea"
"PHIL!?" Jack's scream echoed through the workshop. All the Guardians rushed to the room Jack was in.
"Jack are you o.k.," asked Tooth
"Phil took my staff," said Jack.
"Is that true Phil?" asked North.
"Garaphic" answered Phil.
"Why did you take it?" asked north
"grawfehy grdag grah" Phil said.
"He said that Jack dropped it and he thought it was firewood." North translated.
"Really?"
North nodded. North told Phil to give Jack his staff back. And he did.
*1 hour later*
North was working in his office. Jack was helping him by carving the big blocks of ice into smaller ones. They were currently working on a castle.
"Is the drawbridge working?" asked North.
"Yup!"
"Great."
Jack lifted his palm and swirled his other hand around it creating a doll of a princess out of ice. Jack placed the doll on the open bridge. North smiled at the boy. Jack made the motion with his hand again. This time making a prince. Jack put the prince next to the princess with a satisfied smile.
"There, now it's finished."
The door slammed open. The dolls fell and shattered. The two Guardians cried out in shock.
"How many times have I told you to knock?" Yelled North.
"Gargablagala"
"What, the globe?" questioned North.
"What about the globe North?" asked Jack
"It's flickering"
They both rushed to the globe room. The globe was flickering in and out. Jack got scared he didn't have many believers he didn't want to think about what would happen if he lost them.
"Jack, turn on the lights," demanded North. Jack turned and pushed the lever. Ribbons of light rippled through the sky. In 10 minutes everyone was there. The usual fight about holidays began and Jack rolled his eyes. He started talking to Sandy. Jack noticed Manny in the skylight.
"Guys...guys...GUYS!" The other Guardians looked at him. Jack pointed to the skylight. Things were about to get interesting.
