Authors Note: What is up, people of the internet? My name is Freelancer Amber, and welcome to my first fanfic. I have another story connected to this one, but you'll have to be patient for that. I want to give a big thanks to two people who helped me out making this. They are also writers and made my favorite stories. Coral The Leviathan wrote two of my favorite RWBY/Pokemon stories: "A Trainer in Remnant" and its sequel "Huntsmen in Kalos." As well as animedevilluvzyuri, who also wrote amazing stories such as an RWBY/Akame Ga Kill fic called "A New Beginning. So check them out. Remember that since this is my first time posting on this site, don't expect frequently updated chapters. But I'm welcome to your opinions of this. So, without further adieu, enjoy this story.

It was midday in the Clover Kingdom.

The sounds of pained grunting can be heard in the House of Vermillion, one of the three royal families in the kingdom; a seven-year-old Mereoleona Vermillion was training with her magic instructor, Theresa Rapual. And right now... Mereo was getting her ass handed to her. It had been a couple of months since Theresa started training her and her younger brother, Fuegoleon, to control their magic. While Fuegoleon was having quite the trouble controlling his magic, Mereo was, more or less, rebellious during the lessons. Due to this, it often caused trouble between her and their instructor, to the point where the woman gave her a good 'physical lesson.'

"Gah!" Like so, as Mereo got blown away by her instructor's attack.

Mereo slid across the ground with dust kicking up behind her until she came to a full stop, then quickly stood up and growled at her instructor. Mereo pumped herself up, and fire appeared enveloping her hands. She roared as she dashed toward Theresa and tried to attack her once more. Mereo kept trying to punch her instructor, but like before, Theresa dodged them skillfully. This action angered the child to no end, as she tried harder to land a single punch.

Mereo threw another punch at Theresa, but her instructor disappeared before her eyes, and she felt a powerful blow delivered to the top of her head. The force behind the attack was strong enough for Mereo's face to make a small crater.

Theresa looked down at her student and heard a small groan coming from her. "We're done for today." She turned around and started to walk away.

Mereo pushed herself off the ground and glared at her instructor. "Like hell we are!" She slowly stood up, though a little wobbly from Theresa's counterattack. "I'm not finished with you yet, you old hag!"

The instructor stopped and glanced back at her student with a stern look. "It appears to me that you still haven't learned from last time. You attack too recklessly, and you leave yourself wide open too many times. If this were a real battle, you'd be dead as soon as you made your first mistake." The only response Theresa received from Mereo was a scowl, as she turned away from her student. "We'll train again tomorrow. In the meantime, bore what I have said in that thick skull of yours. If you keep making these mistakes, your recklessness will lead to your undoing." Theresa resumed walking away from her student and didn't look back. All Mereo could do was grind her teeth in anger and gave a low growl at her teacher.

Mereo was beating a random beast in the woods, letting out all her pent up frustrations on what Theresa had said to her.

"You attack too recklessly, and you leave yourself wide open too many times. If this were a real battle, you'd be dead as soon as you made your first mistake. If you keep making these mistakes, your recklessness will lead to your undoing."

With each word echoing in her head, so was Mereo's rage, as she knocked the beast out with a heavy punch.

"What the hell does that old hag know?!" she roared out. "None of that stuff she teaches helps me with real combat anyway. These flames of mine are not meant just to be tamed! Grr… I need to punch something else..."

CRASH!

Almost as soon as she said that, she heard a crash not too far away. "What was that?" she gasped out and decided to investigate the source.

When she arrived at the crash source, she didn't expect to see what was there. Or rather, who.

At the crash scene was a girl about her age, she has short brown hair and wearing garments for commoners. She noticed that the girl was down on all fours, like an animal and what looked like a fiery tail, glaring at a fire boar; this one was much larger than the beast Mereo fought earlier. The girl then jumped at the boar and kicked it as hard as she could, but Mereo could tell that the punch didn't do much, as the beast charged at the girl and sent her flying back. Seeing this, Mereo would make good on her word about needing to punch something. With a vicious grin, she rushed to the beast and delivered her hardest punch. Unlike the other girl's punch, hers did something, but not enough to affect the creature.

"HEY!" Mereo heard a yell behind her and turned to see the very same girl getting back up on her feet, looking a little worse for wear but otherwise alive. "What are you doing?! That's my opponent!" That brief distraction was enough for the boar to buck Mereo, sending her right next to the girl. "I had this under control! I didn't need you to get in the way!"

"Didn't look like it," Mereo muttered as she got up and wiped her mouth. The boar came charging at them, but they managed to dodge its attack. As they landed, the girl took notice of Mereo's attire.

"What's a royal doing out in the middle of the woods? I thought you would be up in your fancy house, living a life of luxury?" she mockingly asked.

"What I do is none of your business!" Mereo replied.

The boar let out another roar and rushed at the two girls, tusks ready to draw some blood.

"Really? Hard to believe since no royal kid in their right mind would ever come to these woods, much less be out of the capital!" the girl exclaimed, as the pair instinctively avoided the beast's attack.

Her words ticked Mereo off, mostly as it almost sounded like what Theresa was scolding her for earlier. "Are you calling me stupid?!" she demanded, as their real enemy came charging at them once more.

"No, but I might as well have!" the girl insisted, as they once again avoided another blow. "Even a royal infant would know how dangerous it is here! What kind of idiotic brat are you?!"

"I don't want to hear that from a commoner brat!" Mereo argued.

The beast let out another roar, annoyed with how the girls avoided its every move compared to earlier. This time, the pair turned to it and charged back with all their might.

"We're in the middle of something! Shut up!" both shouted, with Mereo throwing her fiery punch, and the girl did a fiery kick and sent the boar flying far from them.

Realizing what just happened, the girl let out a scream.

"AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH! NO! That boar was supposed to last me a week! DAMN IT!" She held her head in her hands and dropped to the ground. Her sorrow quickly turned to rage, as the girl then turned at Mereo and yelled, "This is all your fault!" The next thing the royal girl knew, the commoner swung her fist at her.

"AH!" Mereo yelled out. "Why you-" She then tackled the girl, and the two of them started to fight. It lasted until dusk, then both girls fell on their backs, heads next to each other, exhausted from all the fighting.

"Hah, hah, hah…" both panted.

"That's the longest...I've ever fought," Mereo said.

"Same," the girl replied.

They both laid there for a good while now, until Mereo remembered something the girl said before they started fighting. "You said that the boar was supposed to last you a week. What do you mean?"

The girl stayed silent for a bit while shadows over her eyes then sat up.

"Nothing that concerns a royal, like you. Why don't you head on home? You don't want to be seen with a commoner like me and 'ruin' your status." As she stood up and was about to walk away, her stomach had decided to make itself known, so loud that Mereo even heard it.

"GRRRRRRRRRRRR!"

The girl stood there, unmoving. Her face turning red from the embarrassment that a royal heard her. Many thoughts went through her mind as she thought that the royal kid next to her would start laughing at her misfortune, like how the other royals would treat commoners. But she didn't hear any laughing or mocking. Confused, she turned to see Mereo, asking herself why she wasn't laughing at her, only to be surprised to see that Mereo was holding out a small loaf of bread to her, a little something she had packed earlier to eat before heading to the forest to work out her frustrations.

"What's this?" the girl asked.

Mereo looked away, still holding the bread to her, saying, "You sounded hungry."

Still confused, the girl asked, "Why? Why are you giving food to a commoner like me?"

"Why not?" Mereo answered. "Besides, it's not every day a commoner could hold out their own against a fire boar. Let alone a kid."

"Well, when you've been on your own for so long like I have, you have to do what you can to survive," the girl replied, accepting the bread. "Thanks."

"No problem," Mereo said, when suddenly her stomach growled as well, causing her face to turn red from embarrassment.

The girl chuckled a bit before ripping the bread in half and gave half of it to Mereo. The noble girl nodded in thanks, and the two ate their respective bread halves. Mereo then realized how late it was getting, and she should be heading back home, no matter how much she dreaded it.

"I should be heading home now. Don't want anybody to worry," Mereo stated.

"Sure thing. Think you'll swing by tomorrow? I really liked our little spar," the girl asked.

"I'll see what I can do," Mereo said mischievously. "So, what's your name? Mine's Mereoleona Vermillion."

*SNORT.* "That's a mouthful. Anyway, my name's Sienna. Sienna Vulpes."

The two girls shook hands before departing from one another.

"I think I just found myself a rival." Mereo thought.

So what do you think? I tried to keep Mereoleona's personality as consistent as possible with what I have gathered from both the Black Clover manga and anime. Especially from what we know about her from her childhood in episode 134 of the anime. As for the OC, that was the OC I made for RWBY. I finally got the chance to "bring her to life" in a sense since she's been sitting in my head for a while now. LOL. Anyway, thank you all for reading this. This story has been in my head for a long time now, and I finally put that out. This is just a part of the bigger story I really want to put out. Until then, thank you all again.
