Hello everyone, I am back with a long-awaited story! This is actually an old story of mine I wrote after watching Cars 2 for the first time back in 2016. However, I've been giving it a revamp and in honour of Cars 2 turning 10 this year, I decided to go ahead and post the first chapter! This story takes place about six months after the events of Cars 2. I hope you all enjoy it, and please do let me know what you think! Also, I'm doing illustrations for this story on my DA, Quotev and Wattpad, so don't forget to check those out if you would like to see them!

Special thanks goes to TRikiD for beta-reading the first chapter and to my younger sister for her reading, advice and support!

It was a dark, stormy night on the Pacific Ocean. The small boat drifted up and down on the tides. On the back deck, C.H.R.O.M.E. agents Finn McMissile and Holley Shiftwell were parked next to some crates. It was very misty, damp, windy and cold, but both agents remained steadfast. Holley shivered slightly, and Finn's jaw was clenched. Both cars felt drowsy, but had enough training to fight it and stay awake.

Holley turned to Finn. "Are you sure you know what you're doing, and where we're going?" she asked, slightly nervous.

"I do, Holley," said Finn with a gentle, trusting smile. "Crabby knows the sea like the back of his deck."

Holley huddled slightly closer to Finn but didn't let down her vigilance.

Soon Crabby reached the oil district. "Here you are, buddy," the boat said, pulling up to the lit tower.

"Thank you, Crabby," said Finn. Launching his grappling hooks, he pulled himself up to the highest floor. Holley sprouted her jet wings and followed.

The two cars arrived at the top floor. Lights were strung everywhere, casting a ghostly gold glow around them. The nauseating smell of dead fish, salty water and rusted metal met their grilles. Finn glanced around, scanning the place for any Lemons. Picking up none on his scanners nor seeing any in sight, he pressed forward. "Stay close, Holley," he advised her quietly yet firmly. "Enemies could be anywhere."

Holley followed close behind. The two cars clicked on their headlights. Suddenly, the scanner on her rear-view mirror activated, the target flashing red, sounding a warning. Beep! Beep! Beep!

"Finn, I'm picking up something!" she gasped.

Finn's mirror bleeped. "It's a Lemon!" he cried. "Take cover!"

The two cars hid behind some crates, but it was too late. A bright beam of light shined on their hiding place.

"Alright, come on out from behind there," shouted a growling voice. "We know you're back there. So don't make us come pull you out! And don't be slow or we'll blast ya to kingdom come!"

Finn and Holley slowly emerged from behind the crates. "Ah, Acer, Grem," mused Finn, "I see you two survived whatever it was you got into the last time I saw you."

The two rusty, battered cars growled, looking much worse for the wear. Acer was twice as rusted and his sides were dented inwards; Grem was missing his bonnet, as well as some more of his teeth. The orange Gremlin held a gun in his tyre while the yellow Pacer continued flashing his brights. "Thanks to you and your spy friends, we barely managed to get away from those violent drunks alive!" Acer shouted.

"Yeah," Grem chimed in. "So we've decided it's time we finally disposed of you once and for all! After that, we're taking over what the professor left behind."

"You'll never make it," hissed Finn. "You both lack the smarts and skills to be leaders. You may kill us, but you'll never succeed in ruling the world."

"Oh, but we will!" shouted Grem. "Once you two are out of the way, it'll be so easy to take control. Soon, the whole world will become dependent on our fuel, and it'll be so easy to discard whomever we wish. And no one will stop us."

"You'll never win!" declared Finn.

"I'm done conversing with you," growled Grem. He turned to Acer. "Kill 'em!"

"Run, Holley!" shouted Finn.

Holley and Finn took off in different directions. The two Lemon cars split up as well, their guns aimed at their targets. Holley screeched to a stop behind a crate, her taser gun popping from her hubcap. Finn hid across from her, both machine guns activated.

The Lemons began firing. Finn shot back, but missed each time. Holley waited until Acer was right in front of her; taking careful aim, she shot his tyre, sending the gun flying and the car howling in pain. This gave Holley enough time to activate her taser guns, sending unbearable electric waves through Acer until he was out cold. Meanwhile Grem continued to battle Finn.

BANG! Finn disabled Grem's gun with a single lucky shot. Withdrawing his own weapon, Finn then jumped out from behind the crates, activating his fighting tyres; slugging the orange car, he sent him into a wall, but only for him to get up and tackle the agent. Finn hit him again, sending him tumbling into a pole, but he remained unfazed. Holley tried to keep the Gremlin within shooting range, but the two cars were moving so quickly, Holley feared she would hit Finn. Finn hit Grem in the side again and the Lemon slid across the floor, crashing into Acer. Catching sight of the pistol at his colleague's tyre, Grem grabbed it and aimed at Finn, whose exhaustion was beginning to show, his alertness faltering.

"Finn, look out!" shrieked Holley.

Finn's engine roared as he tried to drive out of the way, but it was too late!

BANG!

Holley gasped. "No!" she cried.

The bullet effortlessly impaled Finn's door. The spy car collapsed, oily blood spurting from the wound. Still travelling at high speeds, he tumbled over, rolling along the ground before crashing into the metal railing, which stopped him from going over the edge. He rolled over, lying on his side. Several heavy wooden crates crashed onto him, entombing him.

Grem laughed menacingly.

"No!" screamed Holley, racing at the Gremlin. She activated her taser once more, zapping him until his consciousness and pained-filled howls gave out. She then rushed over to her colleague. Using all of her might, she knocked the crates off him in vain, and gently pulled him out. "Finn? Finn!"

Finn coughed and glanced up at her. "Holley," he choked out hoarsely.

"Finn, are you all right?" she asked, terror rushing through her.

"I...I don't think so," gasped Finn between weak breaths. He burst into a coughing fit.

"I'm...I'm too injured to move, Holley. I want you to signal a boat and sail back to shore. You can call for help there." he said, his voice strained.

"I can't leave you!" Holley argued.

"You must," insisted Finn between violent coughing attacks. "It is not safe here."

"I won't leave you," said Holley firmly. "Something could happen, and besides, it would be cowardly of me to leave you here. I'll signal the mainland." She activated her communicator.

"This is Agent Shiftwell calling C.H.R.O.M.E. Headquarters. Repeat, this is Agent Shiftwell calling C.H.R.O.M.E Headquarters, do you read me?"

The line was static. Holley tried to keep herself from panicking.

Finn closed his eyes. I hope it gets through, he thought.

Suddenly there was a crackly reply through the static. "Agent Shiftwell, we read you. What is the trouble?"

"We have been attacked!" she replied, "Agent McMissile is hurt!"

"Where are you?" asked the voice.

"At the Pacific Oil Industry," Holley replied, giving him the needed coordinates to the rig.

"I'm sending help over there right now," the masculine voice replied. "Don't move McMissile unless absolutely necessary. Do you think you can manage until we get there?"

"Yes," Holley informed.

"Good," said the voice, "Signing out now."

Holley turned off her communicator. "Help is on the way," she said.

Finn smiled weakly. "You are a very brave car, Holley. You fought well and remained calm. I know-"

His sentence was interrupted by a cough so harsh that Holley almost feared that the powder blue Faultless GT was going to tear himself inside out. When it finally stopped Finn continued, his voice raspy. "I know you will make a fine agent..."

Then, with a heavy groan, Finn's body went limp, his eyes closing, his tyres spread out, his front falling to the ground. He let out a large sigh and laid still.

Holley fought to keep from crumbling into a panic-stricken sob at the terrible sight. Finn's body was dented and covered in bloody scratches, his eyes were black and sunken, his tyres were flat, his sides were crushed inward, and his face was pale and dirty. Blood flowed from the side wound, pooling onto the ground. Holley remained parked next to him, not caring if blood and dirt soiled her paint. She glanced around for something to clot Finn's wound with. Her scanner picked up on a stained cloth nearby. She pushed it over with her hind tyre and began clotting the wound, but to little avail.

The minutes crept by frightfully slow for what seemed like hours. After what seemed like forever Holley caught sight of a helicopter bearing C.H.R.O.M.E.'s logo flying overhead. She flashed her headlamps and turned on her communicator. "Hello? This is Agent Holley Shiftwell. We're over here. Do you read me?" she called, waving her tyre.

"Stay where you are," came the voice on the other end, "We're preparing to land."

Holley watched as the silver and white helicopter made a careful landing on the floor. Once he was firmly on the ground the door slid open and several paramedic cars and forklifts came rushing out with a stretcher, hastily hurriedly speeding over to where Finn laid. A white van halted in front of Holley and began questioning her while the remainder of the group helped to carefully lift Finn onto the padded cart, strapping him down and carting him into the helicopter. Holley and the van followed. Once everyone was inside, the helicopter took off.

"We are short of fuel," the van informed Holley as they flew over the sea. "We have got an ambulance waiting ashore for the patient, who will be transported to C.H.R.O.M.E.'s hospital."

Holley nodded, barely able to keep her chassis from shaking.

It wasn't long before the helicopter touched down at the helipad at the English dock. There an ambulance was waiting, his siren on and lights blinking. The paramedics wheeled Finn from the helicopter and into the ambulance, Holley following. Soon the two big doors shut, and they were on their way to the C.H.R.O.M.E. hospital.

Goodness, poor Finn 0_0 Don't worry, there's more to come soon! In the meantime please feel free to leave a review! Constructive criticism is most appreciated!
