The packs were split when Jake let Bella in on their secret, but she's not married yet and the packs organisation is explained in this chapter. Sorry I took liberties because I have issues with so many thing from the original books. You've been warned : BELLA BASHING ! In this story, they are all out of high school.

I already have the whole story written down except for the epilogue. So don't worry, if you climb on that ride, you'll get to see the end.

Enjoy !

She was okay. She was doing well. She had gotten better.

Sure, the new organisation had done wonder on her mood. Yes, they had reunited the two packs, but only the wolves from her former pack had uncontrolled access to her mind, for Sam's pack it was more like a phone exchange : they called and she could chose to answer. What went through the telepathic link was filtered by herself.

She didn't have to hang out at Emily's house anymore, she wasn't forced into submission by the man who broke her to pieces. Now she only had to answer to Jacob. Sure, they all spent a lot of time together and yes the guys still went to Sam's as much as they used to. Only Leah had benefitted from the change. Jake too, what with his sudden burst of power, he was now taller, bigger, faster and stronger than any other wolf. It was a blast seeing Sam seethe in envy. Sure, he was still an alpha, but everyone knew he was more an alpha-ssistant. Ha ! She was too funny sometimes.

Anyways, the pack had a new organisation now with Jake, and somehow Sam, at the top. The only real difference was that telepathically they were split in two, with calls between them.

She guessed she had Bella to thank for it, but really she couldn't find it in herself to be grateful to the whiny leech lover bitch. Everything had went down, meaning Jacob used his alpha blood, because she had clung to Jacob like the greedy, dumb profiteer she was. Her leech had left her and she threw herself at the next poor guy infatuated with her. Without any consideration for anyone other than herself, she went on to stuff her nose in their business. The girl, because she had one vampire obsessed with her, felt entitled to the whole paranormal world, acting like the chosen one. Then Jake broke the order of secrecy for her and even had the nerve to bring her to their bonfire. All hell broke loose then.

If she was being honest, Leah knew Jacob was in the wrong. She had only followed because it meant getting away from Sam, but she was still disgusted with his relationship with Bella and always got in trouble with the new alpha for thinking very bad things about the white girl. Seth had followed out of loyalty to his sister, and because he thought it was cool to get closer to vampires, which they had to be since Bella always hung out with them. Quil and Embry used to like the leech lover, but they only grew more and more disappointed with her as time went by, now they could barely stand the sight of her, but followed Jake out of pure loyalty for their best friend. Things had almost gotten out of hand with a huge rift between the two new packs, but a good set down by the elders had cooled heads and now here they were, the mismatched pack.

Now they were ten wolves, so she could catch breaks, she had even started applying to jobs. As it was, she stood at the counter of a pretty coffee shop she had applied to weeks ago. The place was cute, very girly with shades of pink, white and lilac everywhere. The wall on the right was a huge bookcase filled to the brink, a few cosy looking armchairs were strategically disposed in front of it. On the other side of the room, there was six white tables each topped with different flowers.

It smelled good, it looked good, it felt good. Leah felt her inner girl whom she had worked to destroy since the Sam's debacle, jump in delight.

A door opened behind the counter, filling the front room with the wonderful smell of baked goods. A tiny slip of a woman appeared. She was petite even compared to normal people, but next to Leah she was comically cute. She was very pretty too, wavy light brown hair, olive skin not quite white but not as dark as her own either, almond green eyes filled with joy and softness. She was the prettiest girl Leah had ever seen and something about her just spoke to Leah in a way she had never felt before. It was a soothing almost maternal aura around her.

"Hey ! Wow you're tall !" she chuckled softly motioning for Leah to follow her. "And very beautiful too. You're going to be so popular with the customers !"

Leah blushed, something she hadn't done since... a long time ago. Nobody told her compliments anymore. She was the freak, the odd one, the bitter spinster. She wasn't beautiful.

"So I am not going to lie, I am overwhelmed," she explained disappearing back behind the counter after sitting Leah down at the closest table. "The shop is a success but my fiance, who was my only waiter, had to go back to work. He's so sweet, he took a leave of absence to help me set it all up !" she went on making what looked like an extravagant latte. "What will you have ?"

"Uh... I..." Leah mumbled, out of words. "A pumpkin late if you have it ?"

"Of course, honey. So when can you start ? I've got two teens from Forks working the counter but you can all switch whenever you want as long as I'm warned ahead."

She came back with their drinks and a plate full of huge cookies. As was in her nature, Leah consumed the delicious treats as they spoke about the job. By the end of the hour, she felt like she was with her best friend, someone she had known forever.

"You know, I'm usually very shy," the woman said as they were saying their goodbyes. "But with you it's like connecting with a kindred spirit," she confessed blushing. "Sorry, I'm talking nonsense !"

"Not at all. I get exactly what you mean !"

As the weeks went by, their relationship only grew stronger. Even the pack was amazed at the change in Leah, she had softened, she was smiling more and less on the defensive. For the first time since so long she was enjoying life.

Until she met the fiancé.
