Authors Note: Inspired by vanishing trooper and a review off his work that I read once. The reviewer said that Yuuka is a terrible beast, unlike the weirdly soft Yuuka that was portrayed in his fic. While I loved the story, it was kind of true. Since he(he?) took his work off, here's my spin of how Yuuka would fare in familiar of zero. However no bending here. Only Yuuka around the timeline when Reimu is still alive.
If anyone's interested, please let me know. I'll write one or two chapters to see if anyone wants to see it through to the end.
Also, I will try to portray Yuuka as she really is, to my understanding of her. I'm looking forward to any criticism and especially insight to her character. I'm not afraid to change entire chapters to fit her. Should I change too much I'll leave the original work somewhere along with the chapters.
And last, keep in mind that English is not my mother tongue, nor did I ever write before. So keep kicking me especially when I'm down or I won't improve.
Now... Roast me! (Constructively)
Teaser (Chapter 1 further down.)
It is a beautiful day. The sun is shining. A few stray clouds cast their Shadow over a vast garden. A very specific garden. Huge sunflowers tower above the person standing right in the center of it all. Their heads are all pointed at her and what is laying on the ground in front of her. She lifts her foot and places it on the head of said thing, enjoying the pitiful sounds it produces as she slowly drills her heel into it. A little girl who ventured too close to the terrible monster that changed the landscape as soon as it stepped into this foreign land. My name is Yuuka Kazami and I am going to turn the Eastern Wonderland into an Eastern Wasteland!
Some may wonder how it came to this. Mostly people who came here not expecting a small garden of sunflowers where there was usually green fields far and wide. I shall enlighten them through excessive violence and great pains. But most of all I will get back at the foolish prankster who thought it would be fun to teleport me somewhere far away from my home. Of course I already have someone in mind but for now I'll vent on the clueless children and their supervisor, who happened to be caught up in this. I step off the child and raise my parasol in preparation for the magic I'm about to unleash. Using it as a foci I concentrate a great deal of power on its tip, condensing it all into a tiny point of raw compressed magical energy. Ah yes, my favorite method of destruction.
Just as I'm about to release a deadly torrent of burning energy into them, a light tingle on my foot catches my attention. I look down on the girl who just kissed my foot. Yes, kissed. A very weird thing to do right before your death. Nonetheless I turn my attention back to the beam I've prepared as another curious sensation draws my attention away from it. Fire. I grimace as the runes are being burned into my left hand. I raise it to inspect the magic that was strong enough to harm me.
I begin to doubt myself. Could it be that the prankster who brought me here was indeed a mere mortal, like the one in front of, or much rather beneath me, in any sense of the word? Whatever she did stopped shortly after it began though so it was ineffective."Heh. I got you, familiar.", She uttered in a faint voice, with a smirk on her face. So that's how it is. She thought a little binding such as the one she performed on me would be enough to demand my obedience and respect. An insult to the murderous intent I leaked moments ago that I will not tolerate. I look back down and give her an evil smirk of my own. With the intent to disrespect her I kick her face the other way. I make sure to sound as unimpressed as I am when I remark, "I assure you, I've broken stronger bindings and I shall again after I do your skull."
Ah yes, much better. She looks appropriately horrified as suits human beings in my presence. A few tears running down her cheek are the icing on my sweet cake, but why, just why won't this one stop getting on my bad side? Is she insane? I've proven already to be fairly overpowered and cold-hearted. Why won't she just die in peace when she has no chance to subdue me? Still she grips my foot with all her might, which is not a lot dare I say.
I recall a certain event with a famous witch who dared to invade my home a long time ago. She had guts, but prowess along with it. She could stand her ground fairly well. But none of these have nearly the skills, power or intellect of the famous which of Eastern wonderland. That is why I can not fathom the absolutely ridiculous way I am to be defeated.
I did nothing wrong, from a fighting perspective. I kept the most skilled fighters at bay, taking them out one by one. I crippled the one who 'might,' through some cruel act of fate, be strong enough to overpower me, beforehand. I left a terrifying atmosphere for the easily soiled ones. None of them were able to move, or in a state of mind to think of anything other than their impending doom.
So why am I the one lying helplessly on my back now, unable to move?

Authors note: I have been looking into canon information of Yuuka. I'm surprised how much of what is known is someone else's head canon. After reading some of Lotus Land Story's dialogue I feel like they're all children playing pretend. Every child wants to feel superior.
Marisa: I feel an enormous power. I want to make it mine!
Yuuka: Don't take me lightly, mortal!
~later~
Yuuka: Looks like I underestimated you.
Marisa: Pfft that wasn't even my final form.

Chapter 1
Premonition
The game of kings, a ruthless game in which two supreme rulers put their lives on the line to crush the opposition and assimilate their possession. But not only their own lives are at stake. Countless subject's, loyal knight's, expendable soldier's, even the very people who make up the kingdom are no more than sacrificial pawns to further their kings ever greedy desires. Currently two such beings are fighting for dominance using any means no matter how depraved, such as sending important figures to their deaths, to set traps. A temptation for the weak willed. A trap that, in exchange for the sacrificial pawn, will bring greater loss to the enemy if they are foolish enough to take the bait. Yuuka Kazami, previously glued to the game, now raises her head and drops back into her chair. It is frustrating. No matter how much you offer your opponent, it is useless if she can read your moves.
"What's the matter? You look bored.", The blonde woman on the other end of the table says in an amused tone.
She is clearly winning this game. The chessboard is chaotic to say the least. They are running out off pawns and Yuuka prematurely sent her rooks to the offensive, adding to her loss. The pieces that remain are placed roughly like the checkers on the board itself, save for their kings.
"You look like you're having too much fun, Yukari.", her opponent replies with a sigh.
She eyes her blonde companion curiously. A crazed expression, clearly not seeing mere chess pieces on a board. Her eyes wide and bloodshot, a grin even wider than her eyes and hair unusually unkempt, or whats visible from it under her mob cap anyway, her hands held above the chessboard, as if she held the strings in them. A clear sign of sleepless nights even to the most ignorant people. And is that blood flowing out of Yuuka's beheaded Knight? When did the heads even start rolling?
She shakes her head. "I miss the good old days.".
To that Yukari raises her head too.
"The good old days?", she inquires. "How far back are we talking about?"
Yuuka takes a sip of her tea and thinks for a moment before replying. "Before spell card rules."
Yukari raises an eyebrow but waits for her to continue. She follows up by making a fist above the chessboard.
"A fight to the death. I want to feel the thrill of near death experiences!", she exclaims and leans back into her chair again.
Both remain silent for a moment and eye one another before Yuuka breaks the silence once more, "Aren't you tired of these little games of magical tag? You would sleep better if you got out of your comfort zone every now and then."
Another sigh, this time from Yukari. She looks back down at the board, then at Yuuka before closing her eyes altogether. "Its the fighting that bores me in the first place."
Yuuka puts her cup down beside the board and her elbows on the table, resting her head on top of her intertwined fingers. "Careful now. That is if you want to live much longer."
A thin smile forms on her lips. It is tradition to start fights with trash talk, however subtle it may be and she interprets it as such.
"That's not what I mean. I want something novel, something thought provoking, something to learn from, not to beat down another brute with an excuse to bully the weak."
Yukari turns her head to the side, eyes now open; a bookshelf is placed conveniently close to their table which is also where the chessboard came from.
Yuuka follows Yukari's bored gaze to a series of well known tomes. The smile on her face slowly turning into an annoyed glare. "Crimes and mind games are fine and dandy, but", she inhales sharply and accentuates, "did you just call me an idiot?"
A moment of silence. The words sink in slowly. The blonde Youkai's eyes widen a little as she realizes the implications of what just happened. Normally the two elderly Youkai get along well and overlook trivial matters with a pout at times or a friendly if vigorous danmaku battle but Yuuka stated something very dangerous earlier, the wish for battles to the death. She closes her eyes again and chuckles. While it is true and elder Youkai tend to be rather problematic, Yuuka is no fool to start a death battle right here on Yukari's turf, her own home and further strengthened by the border that separates Gensokyo from the outside world. It is probably just a joke to wake the sleepy Yukari from her daydreams.
"So you want something novel? Something thought provoking? Something even you can still learn from?", Yuuka inquires once more for effect with a sing song voice.
The atmosphere changes ever so slowly into a more dreadful one. Yuuka no longer holds back her intent to kill, letting out more of it by the second. The two stare at each other in silence. Yuuka's trademark expression plastered over her face, a sadistic smile, while her opposite just stares blankly as if to inquire if shes serious.
The sleep deprived woman opens her mouth to deescalate the situation but is cut short as Yuuka raises her hand. "I think I know just the thing to solve all of our problems. It will be novel and you will learn a thing or two."
She stands up and quietly adds as her deathly smile turned into a frown, "I'll make sure you will."
With that she takes her leave as usual when they've had a quarrel with a sullen expression though it is just for show this time. Her plan is in full swing already.
Keeping her sullen expression she walks around Yukari's Mansion, like always to cool off before stepping out into the sun again, except her intention is a different one than to cool off as it is just an act. Upon seeing Ran, the loyal Servant of Yakumo Yukari, she puffs up her cheeks and bumps into her clumsily and extra hard for good measure making her drop what seems to be a few signed letters with Yukari's stamp on them. She helps Ran up stealing one of the letters that lays too close to her feet while at it and engages in small talk before sending her off to her duties. With a smirk she looks down at the official letter addressed at the head of Moriya Shrine. She thinks to herself how it would be a shame if something were to happen to that letter and wanders off.
For some reason Yukari can't shake the feeling that she has pissed off Yuuka a bit more than usual. She prays quietly that nothing bad will happen in the near future and tucks the chessboard back into its place.
"Ran!", she yells from where she sits and soon enough the loyal servant appears through the door.
Ran knows from many years of servitude what her tone of voice means. Something terrible has happened and she will require assistance of some sort.
"Bring me Kagiyama. I don't care what she's doing. Drag her if need be.".
With a nod Ran receives her orders and turns.
"Be quick.", she hears as she leaves and quickens her pace.
