Chapter 1 The Bite:
Marcy's Narration:
Let's start off with something simple. My name is Marcy Wu. I live in Los Angeles, California with my moms and my older brother. I attend Saint James High School with my two best friends. Yep, I'm just your average, everyday, normal teenager. Well…I was until a field trip to Andrias Industries changed my whole world.
End of Marcy's Narration:
A lady in her mid to late forties was in the kitchen cooking breakfast for her wife and two kids. She had tan skin, black hair tied into a bun and brown eyes.
"Kids! Breakfast is ready!" she shouted.
A girl between the ages of 14-15 groggily opened her eyes at her mother's shout. She had olive skin, black hair and light brown eyes. She scratched her head as she yawned and got out of bed.
"Be down in a sec!" she shouted back.
Marcy walked towards her closet and pulled out a green jacket, a white shirt, blue jeans and green sneakers. She threw her clothes on, grabbed her school bag and walked down the stairs.
"Morning Mom," Marcy said, kissing her mother on the cheek as she grabbed a plate of breakfast.
Her mother, Olivia, smiled at her. Marcy sat down at the table and started eating. She laughed as a hand ruffled her hair.
"Ma! Cut it out!" she cried, swatting at the hand.
Her other mother, Yunnan, laughed as she walked away. She had light skin, spiky blonde hair and green eyes.
"Morning, Tiny," she said.
Marcy pouted at the nickname which earned another laugh from the woman. Olivia smiled as Yunnan kissed her head.
"How's my beautiful wife?" she asked.
"I am doing good. But I'd feel great if you'd sit down and eat," she said, bumping her wife away with her hip.
Yunnan put her hands up in surrender as she grabbed a plate and sat down at the table.
"Markus! Breakfast!" Olivia shouted.
A boy who looked to be two or 3 years older than Marcy walked into the kitchen. He had light tan skin, slicked back blonde hair with black hairs mixed in and dark green eyes.
"I told you, Ronnie. The break-up was mutual. We decided we needed to take a break and well we did. Hey, dumbass, don't make me beat you when I get to school," Markus said, phone up to his ear.
"Don't listen to him, he's all talk!" Marcy said.
Mark smacked his little sister upside the head.
"Ow! Mom, he hit me," Marcy whined.
Olivia didn't even bother to look up.
"You two behave or I'll ground you," she mumbled.
Marcy huffed and flung a piece of fruit at her brother who caught it in his mouth.
"So, I heard your science class is going to Andrias Industries?" Yunnan asked.
Marcy nodded her head eagerly.
"Yep! They just discovered a new species of spiders and I'm hoping to get a picture of them," Marcy said.
Markus snorted.
"Nerd," he said, with a smirk.
Marcy stuck her tongue out at him. Mark rolled his eyes. A vibrating sound was heard and Marcy grabbed her phone.
"It's Anne. I'd better get going," Marcy said.
She got up and placed her dishes in the sink.
"Yeah, wouldn't want to leave your girlfriend waiting," Mark teased, knowing about the crush his little sister had on her friend since they were 12.
Marcy blushed.
"Mark, Shut up!" she shouted.
Mark laughed as Marcy rolled her eyes and walked towards the door.
"Bye Moms! Mark, you can burn in fire," Marcy called over her shoulder.
"Have fun!"
"Stay out of trouble!"
"And you can go to hell!" Mark shouted back but smiled nonetheless.
Marcy shook her head and walked out the door. She walked down the street as she headed towards the science building. Marcy gaped at the tall building.
"You should close your mouth, you might swallow a fly," a voice behind her teased.
Marcy turned to see her two best friends, Anne Boonchuy and Sasha Waybright. Sasha was the tallest standing at 5'7. She had light skin, blonde hair tied into a ponytail, a beauty mark on her left cheek and baby blue eyes. Anne was a bit shorter than Sasha but a few inches taller than Marcy. She had light brown skin, curly, fluffy, brown hair and dark brown eyes. Marcy rolled her eyes at Sasha's teasing.
"I'll have you know, flies have more nutrients than the average granola bar," Marcy countered.
Anne snickered as Sasha rolled her eyes.
"Dork," she said.
"Meathead," Marcy shot back.
Sasha punched her in the shoulder and the three girls went to join their class at the main entrance. Standing at the door was a man who looked to be in his mid sixties. He was tall standing at 6'9 and had a muscular build. He had light skin, graying black hair and blue eyes.
"Welcome students to Andrias Industries. I am Andrias Leviathan and I will personally be showing you around our research lab where we keep our newly discovered spider species," he said.
He led the group to the lab. Anne groaned slightly.
"Not the way I wanted to spend the day after my birthday," she mumbled.
Marcy and Sasha laughed.
"Speaking of birthdays, are you excited for yours, Mar-Mar?" Sasha asked.
"I can't believe I've been alive for 15 years," Marcy said.
"Now hang on a minute, you still have one more month. You're still the baby of the group," Anne said.
Sasha snickered as she ruffled Marcy's hair.
"Yeah, little sis," she said.
Marcy grumbled as she fixed her hair. They followed their classmates into the research lab. Marcy took pictures of the spiders. Sasha looked at a black spider that had red stripes on its legs and back.
"Woah check this one out," Sasha said.
Anne shuddered as she looked at the spider.
"Creepy, Why couldn't we go to the movies?" Anne asked.
Marcy snickered as she took more pictures of the spiders. She saw a glass case with a picture of a black spider with green on it. Marcy looked into the case and saw that the spider was gone. Unbeknownst to her, a black and green spider was climbing down from the ceiling and landed on her arm. It crawled down her arm to her wrist and bit her. Marcy yelped and smacked the spider off her hand. The spider fell to the ground, dead. Marcy looked at her wrist and saw two small teeth marks on her hand.
'I hope that thing isn't poisonous,' she thought to herself.
"Marcy! Come on!" Anne called.
Marcy followed after them. They continued with the tour. Marcy began to feel lightheaded as she stumbled a bit. Anne looked at her with a concerned look.
"You okay?" she asked.
Marcy placed a hand on her head and nodded.
"Yeah, just feeling a little lightheaded," she mumbled.
The room began to spin as Marcy's eyes rolled to the back of her head and she fell to the ground.
"MARCY!"
That was all she heard before everything went black.
