(Concept I thought of while reading some adopted Peter Parker fan fiction. What if Peter Parker never existed? In his place was teenage Barry Allen. Aka the flash. How would the marvel universe change due to a new, powerful speedster in its midst?)
Chapter 1: Central City.
Barry walked into the apartment, hand inside of a pizza box, ready to grab the next slice of his lunch.
"Hey Joe, Wally, Iris, there's this wicked cool car parked outside-"
The boy froze, all thoughts going out the window once he saw who was sitting in the living room… on his second favourite chair.
"Ah, Mister Allen. I was just telling your dad and siblings about the internship you signed up for."
Barry saw the urgent look the man gave him, so decided to play along. "Yeah right, that." He replied, voice still nervous.
Joe turned to look at his adoptive son, eyebrow raised. "I thought you wanted to be a CSI?" he asked, amused.
Barry blinked, unsure how to answer.
Thankfully, Tony had thought of one.. "Oh he isn't giving up on that, I just offered him the internship because he's got some of the best grades and marks I've ever seen, and also so he could extend his knowledge base." The billionaire shrugged, like that was the actual truth.
'how is he such a great liar?' Barry wondered to himself.
"How come you never told us Bear?" Iris asked, a small excited smile on her face.
"W-Well I know how you guys like surprises…" he tried, and for some reason. They seemed to buy it.
"Can I get a moment with the kid?" Tony asked, nibbling on some of Iris's Meatloaf.
Joe blinked before nodding. "Sure, sure. You can talk in his room." He replied.
Barry shrugged and showed Tony the way upstairs, the billionaire following him into a medium sized space.
This was Barry's room, it had posters of the avengers on the walls and even some of the long dead JSA.
There was also a few small blackboards on the walls, with formulas and calculations scribbled all over the place.
In the middle of the room was a medium bed, barely big enough to fit an average adults build. But large enough for Barry at his current age.
To the side of the bed was a stack of books on chemistry, biology, physics and other types of science. These were Way beyond a normal teenagers understanding.
This made Tony smirk, so the kid was an up and coming genius… that was good.
On the other side of the bed was a small pile of gadgets and machinery, it looked like the kid was trying to build something, what was anyone's guees.
But the computer on the small desk was definitely homemade, and definitely constructed of old and new parts.
And by the looks of the software… that Tony didn't Recognise, the Kid was good at coding too.
"As far as meatloaf goes, that wasn't that bad." Mr I Am Iron Man stated, swallowing the remaining piece before disposing of his paper plate into the trash.
"Right, so I know I didn't sign up for any Internship. Because one, when I tried to your website declined my application because I was too young-"
"Kid hush for a moment, I'm not here about that… sort of. Anyway, this is you right?" He asked, pulling up a hologram on his watch.
It showed a car about to hit a bus, only for a red blur to stop the car, revealing a figure who was vibrating at high speeds.
"That's quite impressive. Stopping a speeding vehicle that weighs 3000 pounds, that was going 40 miles an hour, like it was nothing." Tony smiled, enjoying the absolute panic on the teens face.
"T-That's not me. It's umm, fake. You know like UFOs over phoenix, or that girl in the red cape?" Barry replied, swallowing the lump in his throat.
Tony almost rolled his eyes. "Right… so this isn't you either?"
Another video was shown of the Red blur saving animals from being run over, old ladies and even kids who had stupidly ran into the middle of the road.
Barry remained silent, trying to think of something to throw Tony off.
"Or this?"
Yet another video was shown, this time of the Red blur racing into a burning building and out again, multiple times. Bringing kids, adult and older people out in mere seconds.
He then twirled his arms around at speed, causing mini tornadoes to appear and syphon the air out of the building. Effectively Putting the fire out.
Barry swallowed. "Nope, I don't know how or where you got your info but-"
Tony rolled his eyes and pushed past the kid, turning the bed over to reveal his homemade Speedster suit.
It was made out of sown together pieces of red leather like material, creating a slightly thin but strong material.
Strapped to the chest piece was a scrap metal lightning bolt, having obviously been welded into that shape. It was.. Tacky, but still impressive.
The cowl was in fact, an adapted hoodie. A large piece of leather had been sewn to the front but with two uneven holes In the front, creating a make shift mask. On the sides were wings, obviously having been taken off a captain America costume and spray painted gold before they were stapled to the mask.
"You were saying?" Tony said smugly, turning to see a downtrodden Barry.
"So you're the Crimson Comet… the Scarlet Speedster?"
"F-Flash." Barry mumbled.
Tony raised an eyebrow.
"The Flash." Barry said again, at a normal tone this time.
Tony blinked. "Who thought up that?"
Barry shrugged. "My sister, Iris. I saved her once from a mugging and she described my running as going from one place to another, in a flash."
"Do any of them know?" Tony asked,
making Barry's eyes widen. "Wha- No! Well, Wally does. He helps with my tech stuff, he wants to build eco friendly high performance cars when he's older. So the world is cleaner but cars can still look good and go fast, he's working on a theoretical fuel source." The teen replied.
Tony hummed at that. So Barry did make this stuff, but with some help from Wally. "Is he your guy in the chair?"
Barry blinked. "Uh no, he's more like tech support. My best friend, Cisco Ramon is my guy in the chair. I also kind of have medical support with my other friend, Caitlin Snow." He replied.
Tony nodded. "So you already got a little team Flash together, that's good. Knowing you have people to rely on.. That's kind of why I'm here actually."
"There's a situation in Germany, could go south Real quick. I need all the help I can get, I could use the Flash's help in this."
Barry blinked, Tony Stark needed him. Iron Man needed him. "I can't go to Germany mister stark… I have homework, finals, you know, getting ready for college stuff?"
Tony looked at him like he had a second head. "I can't believe you just said that…any who I'm not taking no for an answer."
Barry frowned. "But my suit isn't up for battle, I've… I've never done real battle. I've just pushed most crooks and then ran away. I mean the rogues I've fought, not that I knew what I was doing.."
"Kid, I'll stop you right there. That's another reason I came. You need a serious upgrade, top to bottom. And luckily, I am a genius." Tony interrupted, his smirk widening.
"How did you get your powers?" the billionaire then asked, having wondered about that for a while.
"I got hit by lightning while visiting Star Labs….I was sent flying into some unusual chemicals, and woke up a few weeks later. Stronger and well… faster, a Lot faster, not to mention stronger." Barry replied, shrugging.
"Huh, well that's a much more logical story than a wizard giving you lightning powers, how much can you lift?" Tony asked.
Barry really didn't know what to say now..
"Around thirty tons?" he muttered, making the billionaire's eyes widen in shock.
"That..okay, moving on." Tony blinked, shaking his head in disbelief.
There were a few seconds of silence after that.
"So, You need The Flash?"
"I need the Flash."
And well, how could Barry Allen argue with that?
(End of chapter 1
I don't read reviews that much, but lemme know what ya'll think. :)
Yes this will be a Karry story, (Kara X Barry) (Flash X Supergirl) I'm still writing up the plot and messing around with ideas though, so don't expect romance and other stuff straight away.)
