Chapter 1
A young man was walking in the park during the night, sighing softly to himself.
"Damn, that couldn't have gone worse. What the hell am i supposed to do now?"
He sat on a bench and looked up.
"First my tie caught on fire and now this? I must have the worst…wait, since when could we see the stars from the city?"
He then looked around and realized that, while still surrounded by trees, there was no longer the path he tread…nor the trash can he saw to the left of the bench - actually, even the bench he was sitting became a rock!
"…I think I should stay away from the punch bowl next time. I'm hallucinating so hard that my suit looks like some sort of armor and cloak, and - are those abs? Wow, my mind isn't even trying that hard to make this look realistic. Feels real though…"
After examining himself, he heard the sound of a stream nearby, so our protagonist stood up and walked towards the small river, that had surprisingly pure water flowing and splashed himself. But when he looked at his own reflection, Jacob was taken aback, because while the face that looked up at him definitely appeared to be his own, it couldn't be. There were no pimples, no blackened eye from getting punched in the face a few minutes earlier, and no scar from the time he and his brother got lost in the woods near their grandparent's house when they were 8. It was as if someone wiped clean all his defects, and all his experiences too. All that made him, him.
For some reason that thought sent chills down his spine.
Before he could think a bit more about his situation, a roar close by made him understand that he truly was in some weird forest, in some weird clothes, and there might be dangerous creatures nearby. And he had nothing to defend himself with.
Jacob couldn't help but sigh
"I really hate parties."
Dragons.
Of course it would be dragons.
Because things weren't weird enough.
To be fair, it could be worse. He could have been running from them, only to end up in a cliff.
Oh, right, that's exactly what happened. Then he made a leap of faith, because there was another river, this one deeper (he hoped at the time), then just like he had seen in a dinosaur movie once, he remained underwater for a while, waiting for them to leave, before swimming to the shore. Thankfully, when he finally left the water after being dragged by it for who knows how long, he found a cave.
He later thanked whomever might be listening that there were no monsters in the water or in the cave, since this place might have those as well.
"Alright, first things first. This is real, or I'm dead/comatose and it doesn't matter if it is not 'real' real, because it is my new real now. Second, aside from abs, I am in much better fitness than before, as I can outrun dragons, hold my breath for a real long time and break boulders with my fists. No big deal."
The last one was actually how he found the cave, he punched a big rock in frustration, and instead of feeling pain like he expected, he only felt surprise when it shattered.
"OF COURSE IT IS A BIG DEAL! WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON? Ok, calm down Jacob, don't scream, as that might attract more dragons. Breath in, breath out, just like Mark taught you…Mark."
Mark. His twin brother. His partner in crime. With whom he had lived since their parents abandoned them with their grandma in the countryside, 19 years ago. With whom he had shared his fears about studying so far from where they grew up. Someone he might never see again.
Jacob was unaware that this would be the beginning of a journey filled with dangers and thrills, where he would make allies and enemies alike. All he knew was that he was truly alone, for the first time in a while, in a strange place, with strange creatures, and with no way home.
So he wept.
"Okay, I don't know where I am, nor why I am here, but those things can be left for later. What can't be left for later is finding food. And that is in spite of the fact that I haven't felt hungry since yesterday night when I arrived, as I don't know until when that will last. Thankfully, I've watched enough survival videos to know what to do."
He and his brother loved to watch those kind of videos when they were studying in the city, so that when they went to stay with their grandma on vacations, they could try doing those things in the woods. So he didn't have much difficult crafting a makeshift spear to catch some fishes, and then roasting them on a fire he had prepared earlier.
After eating, he decided to leave this cave and explore to see if he could find something, anything, that might take him towards civilization.
Jacob couldn't help but complain to himself, trying to distract himself from the dangerous reality that surrounded him.
"This would feel way safer if I had some way to protect myself, you know! Like a sword, a knife, hell I would gladly accept a baseball bat if it came down to it!"
Then, suddenly, he felt stopped walking. He felt a weird pressure in his head, a connection to…
Jacob became Aware.
Think of his clothes as an assassin's creed cloak, like Altair's, that has some bits of armor in vital places, but is overall more geared towards mobility. He doesn't have any hidden blades (yet) and since he hasn't pulled up the hood, he hasn't made the connection between the game and his attire.
This won't be a crossover, but there might be references made by some modern characters, such as Ritsuka, who are aware of the game. Jacob isn't a part of the same Earth as Ritsuka, but he doesn't know much about the Fate frenchise.
I was inspired by "A False Hero", by Eskimobill1919. I'll also be using the same initial stats for my MC as Adam when the stats sheet appears.
Also, it is worth mentioning that it will be a while before my MC meets the Chaldea group, as he is not in Orleans, but that is for later.
Hope you guys enjoy.
