Chapter 1: Origins

Author's Note: Hello everyone! This is the first time I'm posting on this account. So this MHA x Pokemon thing is something I've actually been working on in my spare time. I never meant to publish it since it was just supposed to be like a fun project for me. Now that I'm 18 chapters in though, I thought I might as well release it publicly!

This really isn't anything too special. It's mostly just My Hero Academia rewritten with Pokemon thrown in instead of Quirks. I did try a little extra side story at the end of Season 1 though, so don't expect it to just be 100% the same. I also more or less have everyone's teams planned out, but if you have any suggestions, I'd be happy to take them into consideration.

I started this around February of this year, but I stopped for a few months May. I recently came back to it after getting back into both series. If you have any feedback or questions, let me know! I'd be happy to respond. Enjoy!

The boy held his Tediursa tight as he cried. Izuku stood in front of him and stretched his arms out. "You're being mean, Kacchan! Look, he's crying!" The green-haired boy formed his hands into fists and held them up. "If you don't stop… I'll never forgive you!"

Katsuki and his two friends laughed. "Trying to be a Hero? You can't even touch Pokemon, Deku!" The flames on the back of Katsuki's Cyndaquil flared up, startling the young Izuku. Then, the Cyndaquil, as well as Katsuki's friends' Zubat and Tangela charged right at the helpless child, beating him down.

That was a memory that Izuku would never forget. He learned an important lesson that day. "The strong rule over the weak. Not everybody is equal." That was what he learned. Yes, he couldn't touch Pokemon. He experienced a traumatizing event at the young age of three where a Muk nearly suffocated him to death. Had it not been for some nearby Heroes, he may not have survived. Ever since, he could never come into contact with another Pokemon. He would freeze everytime and he'd have a breakdown.

Still, that didn't kill his love for them. He found their existence fascinating, and he loved nothing more than Pokemon Battling and Hero Work. Despite his trauma, he kept going. He wouldn't let this hold him down.

It had been ten years since that day. Izuku was now on his way to school, excited as ever. There had been a report in the news of a Villain with a gigantic Pokemon wreaking havoc on the train tracks, so he rushed there to catch the Pro Heroes in action.

He eventually found the site and joined the crowd, many of whom had their phones out recording the event. There, right on the tracks was a Steelix. On top of its head was the Villain who cackled loudly as Steelix slammed its tail onto the tracks once more.

The police were desperately trying to keep the people away from the site, but the Villain noticed this. "Iron Tail!" He commanded. The Steelix immediately slammed its tail into a nearby tower, causing it to fall. Before it could land on the people, however, a Conkeldurr rushed in and held it above their heads, narrowly catching it.

A man eventually ran up to the Conkeldurr and patted him on the back. "Just hold out there buddy!"

"That's Death Arms!" One man pointed to the Conkeldurr's trainer. "Woah, a Pro!" Izuku shouted, watching in awe as the Conkeldurr grunted, struggling to hold up the tower as the people evacuated from the immediate area.

Suddenly, a line of water formed in front of the crowd, creating a barrier. "Stay back, everybody! Let us deal with this." A man in a firefighter outfit said. The line of water came from the man's Blastoise who roared loudly. "That's Backdraft! The Rescue Hero!"

"Okay, it's my turn!" Another man emerged from behind the crowd. This time, he was on a surprisingly large Trevenant. The Pokemon lept in the air, rising above the Steelix. The women among the crowd erupted. "Go, Kamui!" They all cheered as he dodged another Iron Tail.

"Get away from me!" The Villain shouted, commanding his Steelix to release a Flash Cannon. Kamui Wood's Trevenant dodged it once again and prepared itself to strike. "Go, Trevenant! Horn Leech!" The Tree Pokemon's arms formed into sharp spears as it ran up the Steelix's body, striking it several times before leaping off, landing on the tracks once again.

Kamui joined his Pokemon and looked right at the towering Steelix above them. "Illegal use of Pokemon to cause destruction, and robbery and violence too? You are a real Villain." Kamui's bracelet began glowing and he smiled. He struck a pose and Trevenant was soon glowing, radiating energy.

"Bloom Doom!" He shouted. The ground around them was suddenly covered in flowers and a huge green orb of light formed within Trevenant's hands. It was just about to unleash that energy when all of a sudden, they heard a voice.

An Alolan Exeggutor emerged from the ground, with a woman riding atop its head. "Dragon Hammer!" She shouted. The Pokemon bent its neck back, before flinging it back forward, slamming right into the Steelix.

Everyone's mouths widened in shock as Kamui and Trevenant simply stood there, still in their poses, as the Villain and his Steelix fell to the ground.

The woman struck a pose and looked at the crowd. Many of the men began taking pictures, chanting "It's here." Over and over again in unison. "Today is my debut. My name is Mt. Lady." She said, seductively. "Happy to make your acquaintance." She said with a wink.

Izuku immediately brought out his notebook and began writing. "Mt. Lady's partner Pokemon seems to be an Exeggutor from Alola. She's new, but already very popular. She also seems very strong, only needing one Dragon Hammer to take down a Steelix, despite being resisted. Alolan Exeggutor is known for its height, though, so it is possible that her movement options are very limited within the city."

He began finishing his notes as Mt. Lady and the other Pro Heroes escorted the Villain into a police vehicle. One bystander who noticed Izuku pointed to him. "Hey, are you taking notes so you can be a Pro? Do your best, and you'll be one, one day!" He said, giving Izuku a thumbs up.

Izuku turned to the man and a big smile formed on his face. "Yes, I will! Thank you!"

The rest of the day had been pretty uneventful for the most part. Mostly just school, though that wasn't necessarily a good thing. Despite his fun start to the day, Izuku was still constantly bullied in school by most of the kids, especially his childhood "friend", Katsuki Bakugo.

Still, he somehow managed to get by with little interaction as a whole. It may sound sad, which it is, but it was better than being ridiculed all day long. He thought he was finally safe when his Homeroom teacher was wrapping up, but he was oh-so very wrong.

"So we're all approaching the end of the year, so, as per usual, I'll be handing out these forms for all of you to plan out your next year. But..." He simply turned around and threw the papers into the air. "You're all taking the Hero course, anyways. Right?"

Everyone cheered and sent out their Pokemon, each showing off a move or two. The teacher smiled and nodded his head. "Yes, very good Pokemon everybody, but please, using your Pokemon in school isn't allowed, alright?"

Katsuki scoffed and placed his legs on his table. "Teach, don't lump me in with all these rejects. I don't plan to aim so low like the rest of these weaklings"

"Bakugo!"

"The Hell, man?!"

The class erupted in anger, everyone yelling at Katsuki for his insults. He simply laughed at all of them. "You should all just shut up!"

The teacher looked at his forms and nodded. "I see. You're going to UA High School." He said, everyone immediately becoming silent. Only whispers and murmurs between seatmates could be heard.

"That National School?"

"Isn't its standardized rank score 79?!"

"The competition there is insane!"

Izuku was overtaken by embarrassment and he just kept his head lowered.

"This is why you're all extras!" He stood up on his table along with his Quilava. "I aced the mock test. I'm the only one here even qualified for UA! I'll surpass even All Might." He said, a vicious smile forming on his face. He pumped his fist. "I'll be the top Hero! My name will be on the highest-paid list, and you'll all bow before me!"

"Oh, Midoriya is applying to UA too, right?" The teacher reviewed his forms. Izuku flinched and he nervously looked up at the whole class, only to be greeted by everyone staring at him, shortly before laughing. "Huh?!" His heart sank and everyone couldn't contain their laughter.

"What? Midoriya? No way!" The student behind him exclaimed. Another one stood up and pointed to him. "You can't get into UA just by being a nerd!"

Izuku stood up and tried to defend himself. "They still allowed me to apply!" He weakly defended. Suddenly, Katsuki's Quilava used Flame Wheel right on Izuku's desk, knocking him to the ground. "Hey, Deku!" Katsuki shouted as the smoke cleared. "Not only are you a reject, but you're a coward too! If you can't even touch a Pokemon, why are you even trying to get on my level?"

"No, wait Kacchan! I'm not trying to compete with you at all!" He stuttered, crawling backward until he hit the wall. "I swear it's true!" He said as he frantically waved his arms before bringing his head down. "It's just that… ever since I was a kid, I've always wanted to be a Hero. And… it doesn't hurt to at least try, right?" He asked nervously.

"What do you mean, 'at least try'?" Quilava growled and the flames on its back flared up. "Is this some kind of game to you?!" Katsuki asked. Izuku couldn't respond quickly. The glares of everyone in the class kept him frozen in fear. "What can someone like you do? You don't even have a Pokemon!"

"That's enough!" The teacher shouted and slammed his hand onto the table. "It doesn't matter if he has what it takes to get in or not, that's none of your business. As I said, return your Pokemon to their Pokeballs or you are all suspended!"

Katsuki scoffed and reluctantly pulled out a Pokeball. "Return." He said, pressing the button. A red beam of light shot out and covered Quilava before completely engulfing him, causing the Pokemon to retreat into the ball. Everyone else in the class quickly followed suit. "You can all send out your Pokemon once you're out of the school grounds. Class dismissed."

Almost everybody left the classroom right away, eager to get away from the school. However, Izuku did decide to stay for a little while longer. He was checking the news for any updates while he finished up his notes on Mt. Lady.

However, Katsuki came in and snatched the notebook right out of Izuku's hands. "We're not finished yet, Deku." He said, waving the notebook above the green-haired boy.

Two other students joined Katsuki and smiled. "Hey, Katsuki, what's that?" One of them asked. The blonde boy held up the notebook for them to read. "'My Hero Analysis for the Future'? What a joke!"

"Oh, Midoriya." The two of them began laughing. Izuku stood up and tried to reach for the notebook, but it was useless. "Hey, come on, give it back." He asked, still trying to reach for it.

Katsuki sent out Quilava and smiled. "Ember." He said as he dropped the notebook to the ground. Quilava did as instructed and shot out a small flame, setting the book on fire. Izuku screamed in shock as the smoke cleared, revealing the burnt up pieces of paper.

"You're awful!" Izuku said, only screaming even more when Katsuki picked the notebook back up and threw it out the window. "Most top Heroes have stories beginning from their school days. I'm going to be the first-ever person to get into UA from this boring ass school." He placed a hand on Izuku's shoulder and smiled. "So just in case, don't apply to UA. Got it?"

Izuku wanted to say something, but he couldn't get any words out. He wanted to tell Katsuki off and defend himself, but he just couldn't do it. Katsuki eventually got tired of waiting for a response and just left. "At least say something." One of his friends said, laughing.

"Don't say that. The poor thing hasn't even tased reality yet." The other friend said. Katsuki stopped right at the door and looked over his shoulder. "You wanna be a Hero that bad? There is a pretty easy way. Just pray that you aren't a coward in the next life and jump off the roof."

Izuku had had enough. He planted his foot firmly in the ground and turned with his fists held up. However, when he saw the flames from Quilava's back flare-up, he immediately dropped them and stiffened up.

Once the route was clear, Izuku finally decided to go home. He had taken a quick detour to find his notebook, but now he had to hold it out to let the water drip from it. Even now, as he was approaching a small underpass, it was still drenched.

He remembered that time ten years ago. He had tried to protect that child and his Teddiursa, but it was useless. He was useless. Really, how was he expecting to get into UA if he couldn't even touch a Pokemon?

He vividly remembered that moment too. The world was turning dark as the Muk began absorbing him into its body. He remembered the laughs of the Villain beginning to fade away as he struggled to breathe. He tried to gasp for air, but all it did was force more of Muk into his body. Luckily, several Pro Heroes were nearby and they successfully drove off the Villain, saving Izuku just in time. He remembered the way his mother cried to him, apologizing for even letting this happen.

He wanted to be a Hero so badly, but did he really have what it took? Was it even worth trying? He shut his eyes and nodded. No, it was worth trying. What was the harm? He wouldn't know if he at least didn't try. He held his hand up high and smiled. "I won't let others push me down!" He exclaimed as he began laughing loudly, taking heavy stomps with each step.

Then he heard something. Something that he never, ever wanted to hear again. He turned and saw purple sludge emerging from the grate behind him. Once the sludge had finished exiting the grate, there it was. There was a Muk that towered over his small body. The Muk pushed the manhole aside and opened it. Out came that very same Villain from all those years ago.

Izuku froze once again. His first instinct was to run, but he couldn't move. After dusting himself, the Villain noticed Izuku and pointed at him "You!" That must have done it for him as now Izuku began running for his life, but it was futile. The Muk leapt up and landed right on top of Izuku and began forcing itself into his mouth.

"It's okay." The Villain said, crouching over the flailing Izuku. "Muk's just taking over your body. Calm down and the pain will end soon." He said, a sadistic smile forming on his face. Izuku tried grabbing the Muk, but his hand only went through it, getting him even more stuck. "Thanks for everything, kid. You're my Hero!" The man mocked Izuku.

He was in this situation again. He felt the world getting darker around him as he stopped breathing. He was too weak to tug against the Muk, and he eventually grew too weak to even move. "Am I going to die…?" He tried asking, but his words were lost in translation. He felt tears in his eyes fall as he looked at the ground and saw his notebook.

"Somebody…! Please… somebody… help!"

Suddenly, a large man came flying out of the manhole and landed with a crash. "Worry not, young boy, for I am here!" He slammed his foot on the ground and pulled out a Pokeball. Out came a Lucario and its roar sent fear through both the man and his Muk.

"Muk, Sludge Bomb!" The Villain shouted. The Muk shot out several purple blobs, but Lucario was immune. "Aura Sphere!" The Hero shouted. His body moved just like Lucario as it quickly charged up a ball of aura and launched it, sending the Villain and the Muk flying into a nearby wall, finally freeing Izuku.

Izuku began falling to the ground, but as he did, he saw the blurry image of the Lucario and its Trainer. "All… Might?" He asked softly as he passed out.

After a few minutes, he began to wake up. However, only due to someone softly, yet rapidly, slapping him on the cheek. "Hey, hey, hey, hey." The man repeated. He slowly opened his eyes and a look of relief came over the man. "Phew. Thank goodness you're awake."

Izuku's eyes suddenly shot open and widened. He screamed in shock as he crawled backward, unsure of what to make of the situation. His idol, All Might, was standing right in front of him. Not only that, but he had saved him.

"Good to see you're doing fine. Sorry that you got tangled up in a Villain fight like that. Those mistakes normally don't happen, but I was off duty and in a new area and I got quite excited." All Might placed his hand over his face and laughed. "But! It was also because of you that we were finally able to apprehend the Villain! So thank you!" He motioned over to the Villain in handcuffs who seemed to be passed out.

"The Number One Hero… All Might… It's him… It's really him…! This doesn't feel real." Izuku began muttering to himself. "Oh, right! An autograph!" Izuku began looking in his pockets and clothes for anything All Might could sign. "Something… anything..." His pats along his body became even more aggressive before noticing his notebook on the ground. He opened it to an empty page only to notice, written in huge, bold letters, the words "ALL MIGHT" along with his logo.

"You've already signed it?! Thank you so much, sir! I will treasure it for all of my life!" Izuku bowed down several times, trying to truly express his gratitude to his Hero. "No problem!" He said, giving the young boy a thumbs up.

He pulled out a Pokeball and sent out a new Pokemon, revealing a Braviary. He scratched its head before the bird flew up into the air and picked up the Villain in its talons. "Anyways, I'm going to deliver this man to the police. I'll see you on the TV Screen!" All Might jumped up onto Braviary's back and patted it on the head.

"What? Already?" Izuku asked.

All Might nodded. "Pros have to be constantly moving. We're always on the lookout for people to save." He said as Braviary took a stance. "Wait, there's something I need to ask you!" Izuku said, walking up to All Might.

"Please keep supporting me! Braviary, use Brave Bird!" The Bird Pokemon let out a call as it covered itself in a bright blue energy before bursting into the sky. "I'm counting on you!" All Might shouted as he ascended into the sky.

As they were flying, Braviary let out a grunt of discomfort. "Huh, what's wrong?" All Might asked. Braviary cawed and looked down at its leg. All Might looked down and was shocked to see Izuku tightly holding onto the bird. "Hey! Let go! Your enthusiasm is way too much!" He said as he tried to push Izuku off of the leg.

"If I let go, I'll die!" Izuku cried out. "Oh, right. "All Might immediately stopped pushing after realizing this. "I… have so many… questions to ask you!" It was hard for him to talk with the wind blowing against his face, but All Might seemed to understand.

"Okay, okay." He said, pulling Izuku up onto Braviary's back, the young boy eventually shutting his eyes and keeping his head down. All Might let out a cough, with a little bit of blood spilling out as well. "Shit..." He quietly whispered to himself.

They eventually landed on top of a nearby building. Izuku, still shaking, got off of Braviary and wheezed. "So scary… That was the closest I got to a Pokemon in years and I almost died again." He said as he crouched down. "Goodness… ask the people downstairs to bring you home. I don't have time for this." All Might said, getting back onto the bird and patting it on the head.

Izuku stood back up and ran up to All Might. "Wait, there are still some things I have to ask you!"

"Nope! I'm not answering them." He said, holding his hand up.

"But-" Izuku reached out his hand but stopped himself. He remembered everything that had led up to this moment. His mother's cries, Katsuki's insults, the trauma he endured. He slowly put his hand back down and faced the ground. "Can a human who can't even touch Pokemon… be a Hero just like you?!" Izuku shouted out, stopping All Might in his tracks. The Hero looked over his shoulder and saw the young boy shaking, in fear of what the Pro might say.

"... Can't touch Pokemon?" All Might said to himself before a sharp pain coursed through his body. He grunted in pain and held his arm in pain as steam began to emanate from his body. "Shit! Dammit!" He said to himself.

"I was always made fun of in school for being scared to touch Pokemon. When I was young, that same Muk nearly killed me and I've been living with that fear since. Saving people with a fearless smile… I want to be a great Hero just like you!" Izuku looked up and smiled, but that smile quickly faded away when he saw what looked like a skeletal man in place of where All Might was just standing.

"What?!" Izuku screamed out.
