Hi everybody! I'm back with the continuation of my previous story 'After the storm'. After having written and published the end of it, I managed to stay without writing only for two days:) Then I started again. From the past three months of my everyday scribbling, there's already more material than all the chapters of the first part and it's nowhere near the end so I promise you'll have plenty of reading. In my last chapter I told you I had some ideas so here they are:)

After the storm

Part II

Chapter 1

It was quite early in the evening and the traffic was still terrible. Some people were speeding home, having just left their work and wanting to get in time for dinner with their families, while others were heading to the clubs to blow off the steam and dance the night away.

Chloe was driving in her car, trying to make her way through all this traffic madness somehow. After another solved case and finished paperwork, her destination was Lux and its owner who happened to be an Angel/Devil and also her boyfriend. She smiled when thinking of him, so far everything was going fine, their relationship was blooming and Lucifer was acting quite decent when at the crime scenes, well at least he was making an effort. Thus it didn't surprise her when he told her during the day that he invited her to Lux for a small celebration after another case closed.

So here she was – in front of the club. She parked the car and went inside, skipping the queue as the staff has been passing her through since the beginning of her partnership with the owner.

Once inside, she came up on the balcony and leaned on the railing, trying to catch sight of Lucifer but he was nowhere to be seen. She decided to go down the stairs and look for him in the dance area. She made her way through the moving crowd, the lights were blinding and the air was vibrating with the loud music. She felt a headache starting to form, all those stimuli not helping either. She'd prefer to meet Lucifer at the penthouse, not here.

She looked around, feeling helpless and then suddenly she spotted him through the crowd of dancing pairs. He was sprawled on the sofa and just as she opened her mouth to shout his name and started walking there, she noticed something or rather someone by his side, even three to be exact. Chloe stopped in her tracks. Her first thought was to flee from there and never look back but she resisted the idea. Despite her instinct, she came closer reluctantly.

Yeah, that was really him, she couldn't believe her eyes. She stopped in front of him and put her hands on her hips, feeling the anger rising and filling her whole body.

"Lucifer, what are you doing?" She hissed, her eyes squinted the same way they did when she was interrogating a suspect.

Obviously, he finally recognized her as he quit making out with one of the women. He looked at her and she noticed something strange in his eyes, a kind a craziness so unlike him now but sometimes evident back in the days at the beginning of their partnership.

"Oh. Hello, Detective." He said as if nothing really happened and this kind of behavior was now normal for him. "You finally came. I was worried you won't come due to loads of paperwork." He grinned like a fool. "You've just made it to our small celebration. Remember Brittany, Brittany and Brittany?" He pointed to the three blondes in pink mini dresses obviously very eager to have some fun.

His words made her baffled. "Lucifer, what the hell is going on here?" She raised her voice and crossed her arms.

"What do you mean?" He asked, not having a clue what the problem was. "It's my surprise for you. You know we were supposed to celebrate another solved case together." He explained.

Chloe let out a deep sigh, she was barely holding up. "Lucifer, by 'celebrating' I thought you meant meeting you here and then going upstairs to have some wine and later maybe spending the night together, definitely not something I'm witnessing here." She said, getting angrier with each word.

"Detective, we can still do the things you said but with the company. The more the merrier." His reply made her furious. Her eyes went big with surprise.

"Lucifer, do you hear what you're saying? I thought I meant something to you." She said, hurt evident in her voice.

How could he do this to her? After everything they've experienced, Lucifer's actions seemed so weird, just like someone wiped off this part of him that had changed and left the old hedonistic Lucifer, who was thinking only about his own pleasure.

Tears started to sting her eyes so she closed her eyelids. Oh, how she wished she wouldn't have to open them and see the picture of her Devil surrounded by some bimbos. Just as she was about to fully open her eyes, she was blinded by a strong white light.

She woke up with a start. It took her a minute to realize what happened and where she was. Her eyes fluttered open and the first thing she noticed was the light coming from the windows in the bedroom. Then she recognized the small bedside table and the bed itself. It was the penthouse and suddenly it all came back to her – Michael abducting her, the commotion at the precinct, looking for Lucifer and him coming back to her, yesterday's family dinner with God, Maze's attempt at killing Lucifer here at the penthouse, Lucifer admitting of going to Hell for her as well as them ending the day in each other's arms.

So what she experienced a moment ago was luckily just a dream, a very disturbing one but nevertheless only a dream. She sighed with relief and as she was lying on her side, she tried to stretch her legs a little but found out she couldn't. It turned out Lucifer spooned her, covering her body with his, his legs entangling hers.

Lucifer felt she was awake so he gently traced a pattern down her arm all the way to her hand, interlacing their fingers and then he kissed the spot behind her ear. He was well aware what effect it had on her. Chloe felt a shiver down her spine, she smiled at this pleasant sensation and at once she heard his vibrating voice.

"Hello, Detective. How was your night? Did you sleep well?" He whispered into her ear, knowing what would be the answer. The air he breathed tickled her and she giggled. Noticing her reaction, he decided to warm the atmosphere and he captured her earlobe with his lips and sucked it gently. Suddenly, a soft moan escaped her mouth. He smiled, pleased with himself.

She turned around so that she could easily face him. His hair was tousled and he was wearing a mischievous grin.

"Lucifer, you know I didn't get much sleep last night," she answered and added in a low voice, "thanks to you."

"What can I say, I can't help it when I have you in my arms." He laughed sheepishly.

"I wonder if you had told this thing to other women." She whispered, still having her recent dream in mind, and not even realizing she said it out loud.

"Huh? What did you say?"

"Oh, nothing. Don't listen to me, it's due to my lack of sleep." She tried to shrug it off.

"All right. Tell me what time is Dan supposed to bring Trixie home?"

"At around 3 p.m." Chloe answered.

"Well, what do you say we stay here in bed, take some nap, then have something to eat and just relax, and in the afternoon I'll take you home."

Chloe smiled at the prospect of spending half of the day with Lucifer. "Okay." She gladly pushed her dream aside, hoping she wouldn't have to deal with it anymore.

He kissed her on the tip of her nose, they nestled together in a more comfortable position and let the sleep take over them.

As the hours passed, they finally got some rest, although not much as they enjoyed other numerous engagements, they skipped breakfast and ordered lunch, having it on the balcony and admiring the world around them.

When it was time for Dan to bring Trixie back, Lucifer took Chloe home and she invited him inside. He hesitated because he didn't want to stress Dan any more but she insisted. They didn't have to wait for a long time because soon there was a knock on the door, it swung open and Trixie stormed inside, Dan trailing behind her, holding her backpack.

"Hi, mommy. I'm home!" Trixie shouted and smiled at Chloe. When she spotted a certain Devil standing nearby, her smile grew even bigger and her eyes sparkled with surprise and happiness.

"Lucifer, you're here!" She exclaimed and raced to him, springing right into his arms. Startled at first, he caught her and lifted easily. She instantly slid her arms around his neck, he closed his eyes and gladly leaned into her hug for a moment.

Chloe was beaming at the sight she was witnessing. She was astonished at the close bond forming between Lucifer and her daughter, she pondered how much he evolved when it came to children.

Lucifer opened his eyes and saw Chloe's tender smile. Then he glanced at Dan still standing near the door and noticed the uneasiness in the man's posture, he visibly still didn't know how to react to his daughter's behavior. Lucifer knew he shouldn't postpone his talk to Dan for much longer but he felt now probably wasn't the time or place for it.

"Hey, urchin. Did you have a good time at your dad's?" Lucifer asked the girl.

She looked at him and smiled sweetly. "It was awesome! We played lots of games and most of them I won."

"That's great, monkey." Chloe said, proud that her daughter was so wise.

"So, mommy…" Trixie started and motioned for Lucifer to place her on the floor, then she turned to her mother and continued, "how was your day?" Her eyes were shining with mischief.

Chloe chuckled upon hearing this allegedly innocent question coming from her daughter, obviously the girl was getting even wiser than she thought, to tell the truth. She felt her face going red at the thought of the time she spent at the penthouse, starting from yesterday's evening until today's afternoon. Lucifer tried not to chuckle himself seeing her blushing.

Chloe struggled frantically to sound indifferent. "It was fine, Trix."

Lucifer couldn't restrain himself from making a wry comment. "Oh, Detective, how can you say that? Only 'fine'?" He asked and put a hand over his heart, pretending to look hurt.

Chloe's face flushed even more and she hissed "Lucifer". Now, he was grinning triumphantly, Trixie was giggling, knowing she managed to embarrass her mother and poor Dan seemed so shocked he didn't know where to look and it was evident he would like to flee from this place as soon as possible. Lucifer instantly noticed that and turned to him.

"Daniel, how are you? Tell me, are you all right after everything that happened yesterday?"

Dan looked at him and sighed. "To tell you the truth, I'm not sure. I think I need more time to think everything through – meeting your Dad and the things he said… It's a lot for me, you know?"

"Yeah, I understand." Lucifer replied.

"I think I'll go now. See you both at work." Dan said and nodded his head at Lucifer and Chloe. "Bye, Trixie." He hugged and kissed his daughter on the forehead.

"Bye, dad. See you next time." The girl hugged him back and gave him a radiant smile.

The minute Dan left the house, Trixie spoke. "Lucifer…"

Chloe recognized her daughter's tone of voice at once and knew she would try to get what she wanted. She wondered what was on her mind.

"Remember, when you said we'll watch a Disney movie? Can we do it tonight? Please?" She smiled sweetly, staring at him with great intensity.

Oh, she's getting better and better. Lucifer thought and decided not to succumb to her charms.

"Child, if I remember correctly and despite my old age I don't have any problems with my memory yet," both Chloe and Trixie giggled at his words and he continued, "One – I told you we'll have a Disney night next Saturday and two – don't make those puppy eyes at me cause they don't affect me." He stated.

Wow, I underestimated him. He learns fast as far as her tricks are concerned. Chloe thought and decided to step in.

"Yeah, Trix. Lucifer is right and besides you've still got your homework to do."

"Yes, chop-chop." Lucifer grinned at the girl.

"Oh." She pouted. "I wish it was already Saturday." She hung her head, not really feeling like doing some boring homework whereas she could do much more interesting things like talking to the Devil himself but unfortunately that would have to wait.

Looking at Trixie, Lucifer felt sorry for her. "Hey, cheer up. I'm sure the time will pass quickly and before you know it, it'll be Saturday." Hearing him say it, her eyes suddenly lit up and a new idea sprang to her mind.

Chloe noticed that and waited what would happen next.

"Lucifer, can you do it?" Trixie asked him, not bothering to clarify what she really meant.

"Can do what?"

"Speed up time so we can watch the movie. Can angels do that?" She replied, her answer making him astonished.

"What? Are you serious?" At first, he thought he misheard something and then that she's kidding him but when he noticed her determined face he realized she really meant what she said and he chose to answer her honestly.

"Trixie, angels can't just fast-forward time as they please." He said and at the same time thought - Well, Amenadiel can slow down time but she doesn't need to know that yet. "I meant that if you start doing something else and stop thinking about Saturday, it will seem to come faster."

"Oh, I see." Trixie said visibly disappointed.

"Sorry, urchin." Lucifer said and patted her on the head.

"Okay, monkey, you really should start doing your homework now." Chloe reminded her daughter.

"All right, mommy. Bye, Lucifer." Surprisingly, she just waved at him and moved towards her bedroom, making Lucifer think she's probably angry due to his inability to speed up time but then suddenly, she turned around and hurried in his direction, hugging him tightly. This affection was still taking him by surprise. She turned her head up and gave him such a tender look that it melted his heart. Chloe was observing them and she knew the girl has won Lucifer over and he would do anything for her.

"Don't worry. I'm not angry at you, Lucifer." She said, surprising him. Yes, she was doing fine with using her gift with emotions, just as Dad had said.

She finally left his embrace and went to her bedroom, closing the door behind her.

Lucifer was still standing in the same place, looking straight ahead. Chloe moved towards him and touched his arm gently.

"Well, I must admit that was something big. For a moment there, I thought she would convince you to change your mind but you managed to stand your ground."

Lucifer turned and took her hands, averting her gaze. "Yeah but then I felt so sorry for her I almost gave in."

"Hey, look at me." He eventually met her eyes. "She's good. Even I sometimes can't resist her and I know most of her tricks. Don't worry, you'll learn fast. You just need some practice." She smiled and then added. "It's good you didn't tell her about Amenadiel. He wouldn't have life if she knew about his ability when it comes to time."

Lucifer chuckled. "Hey, maybe I should. That would be fun." He grinned and Chloe gave him an eye roll. He got the message loud and clear. "Yes, now it doesn't seem like such a good idea." Luckily, he managed to correct his mistake.

Chloe smiled and slipped eagerly into his arms, their lips meeting hungrily. Lucifer knew that unfortunately it couldn't turn into something more with Trixie being around so he thought the best option would be to leave. With much effort, he broke the kiss.

"Chloe, I think I should go now. We both know you can't resist me so if I stayed and Trixie saw us, trust me, it would be much more embarrassing than it was a moment ago." He said, grinning mischievously.

"Lucifer" She smacked him playfully on the chest. "But you're probably right." She sighed and leaned into him. "I just don't want you to leave yet." She said against his chest.

He kissed her on the top of her head. "Darling, you'll see me tomorrow at work."

"Yeah, but it's not the same and we can't do certain things at the crime scene."

"Oh, there's always the evidence room at the precinct." He winked at her.

"Now, I know what Trixie felt like when she wanted you to speed up time," Chloe said and they both laughed at that until they finally parted. She walked him to the door.

"See you tomorrow, Detective." He whispered, slowly caressing her cheek. She instantly closed her eyes, enjoying his soft touch.

"Goodbye, Lucifer." She replied and their lips met once more, although this time it was much shorter. And then he left, making her already longing for him. She sighed deeply and went to check on Trixie.

So how was it? Tell me what you think about it. I can't wait to read your reviews.

P.S. mendenbar, if you're reading this - I remember your words - what happens to Michael will be mentioned in the story at some point. Be patient:)
