A/N: Okay, so that reviewer that suggested that I could do Ash covering Alola in the games, that person was a guest and I can't reach them. So I'm going to just go ahead with what they suggested. If you're familiar to my work, welcome, but to new comers who haven't read Ash Platinum, B&W and XYZ, I've been having Ash start in different Pokemon regions as if he were the player character in the games. Some have been successful, some I'm not sure about like B&W 2 since nobody's bothered to review it. But by now you should get I'm covering Alola this time. And as per usual I'm bumping the ages of the characters from children all the way up to 16. Because logistically 10 years old is too young to venture out, even if you do wind up being the world's savior. Also allows for some shipping without being underage. Anyway, let's get this story rolling.
After failing to catch a Pidgey and Spearow, hunted down by a swarm of Spearow and evading a Gyarados, concluding with nearly being pecked to submission if not killed, 16 year-old Ash Ketchum realized that he was not ready for a Pokemon journey. So, carrying his weakened Pikachu, Ash trudged back to Pallet Town in shame. Professor Oak heard a knock on his door while he was eating his... unique pizza for dinner.
"Huh? Who could that be?" Going to his door, he opened it to find Ash. "Ash?! What happened to you and Pikachu?!"
"We were attacked by a swarm of Spearow. Please, you have to help it."
"Well, I may not be a Nurse Joy but I certainly can patch up a few scrapes and bruises. Leave everything to me. I'll also call your mother that you came back." Taking Pikachu, Professor Oak went to take care of business. Shuffling, Ash went to sit on one of the padded chairs and winced from the pain. The front door burst open when an orange haired girl kicked it carrying a charred bike.
"Now I've got you! Now you're going to pay!"
"Hey, what happened to your bike?!" Ash questioned the enraged girl.
"What happened to my bike?! You happened to my bike you loser! This is what happened after you stole it to save your Pokemon!" As she yelled at Ash, the girl suddenly lost balance and she yelled as she fell over. Ash got up to help her.
"Let me help you!" But when he tried to giver her a hand she slapped it away.
"I don't need your help! And you're going to pay for what you did to my bike!"
"I'll make up for it! I promise I will, really! But I'm not sure if I can do anything." The boy said uncertainly, though that didn't deter the female as she stood up.
"I don't care for any of your lame excuses, I just want a new bike right now!"
"What is all the ruckus here?!" Professor Oak came out of the med ward of his lab. "I go to save a Pikachu in critical condition for two minutes and there's crashing and yelling."
"This punk stole my bike and wrecked it! Look at this!" The girl pointed to her ruined bike.
"It's not like I did it for selfish reasons! I was trying to save Pikachu!" Ash defended himself.
"And leaving me behind to defend for myself with angry Spearow around?! Talk about being not selfish." The girl scoffed.
"Now now, let's all just calm down." Professor Oak tried to lighten the atmosphere. "What might be your name young lady?"
"Misty. That's all I have to say."
"Alright. Misty, while I can't condone Ash for taking your bike without permission and leaving you alone, you can't blame him either considering the scenario."
"What do you mean?!" Misty yelled at the professor, whom remained stoic.
"Take a look at Ash. He looks really beaten up. If he didn't have a means of escape he might've gone through worse. Do you know what happens to people who are attacked by a swarm of Spearow?" The redhead didn't respond but he could tell she knew. "Not to mention that whatever happened, Ash came back with a Pikachu in critical condition. I'm sure that he tried his best to save his Pokemon's life. If he hadn't taken your bike, the two of them might've never came back. And I'm sure you would never strand them alone with a flock of angry Spearow if you escaped on your bike, right?" Ash could see that while Misty was still ticked off, her features softened, showing that such an idea didn't sit well with her.
"No. I wouldn't want to be indirectly responsible for something like that." Growling, she looked back at the professor with reignited eyes. "But even if he isn't at fault, he still owes me a new bike!" The door opened to show a frantic Delia.
"Oh, Ash I'm so relieved you made it back okay!" She went to hug her injured son. "When Professor Oak told me what happened I was so worried!"
"I'm... I'm okay mom." Ash tried to reassure his mother. But given that he was attacked by Spearow, hurt and was scolded that he owed her a new bike, the collective stress was getting to be too much as he started to cry and hugged his mom tightly. "I... It was terrible! Nothing was going right for me! I tried but... but..." Misty's anger towards Ash started to lighten up as she looked sympathetically at this trainer. It must've been his first day.
"It's okay. It's okay sweetie. Not everyone has a smooth start. I'm sure if you try again things will be better."
"Perhaps, but it seems like Ash was overwhelmed from not having any experience. I taught him everything I know, but it seems knowing doesn't substitute for experience. However, I think there is something that can help Ash."
"What would that be Professor?" Delia asked as she and her son stopped hugging.
"Ash could learn how to be a proper trainer by going to Alola. I'm confident he'll excel there."
"Really?" Ash inquired, but then Misty stepped in.
"Hold it, if he's going to Alola then I'm going too!"
"Wha-why?!" Ash asked, shocked by her decision.
"Don't think you can weasel out of getting me a good bike!" The irate girl then smiled. "And besides, I've always wanted to go to Alola! It's likely to be full of water Pokemon! And water Pokemon are my favorite type!"
"Did Ash do something with your bike?" Delia asked, just now noticing the ruined one after wondering what Misty was talking about.
"Ash stole my bike to save his Pikachu and I was demanding he gives me a new one."
"Ash, shame on you!" Ash's mom scolded him. "I'm happy you're not badly injured but you could've asked first!"
"Sorry." The teen boy lowered his head. Misty sighed.
"Don't worry. I'm not angry about it anymore. Mostly. How about this? If you promise me to get me a new bike, then I'll teach you along the way how to be a proper trainer." Misty smiled as she showed off some smugness. "Unlike you, I actually know how to do it."
"Oh, are you a trainer?!" Ash asked her, to which she twitched a bit before nervously giggling.
"Eh, something like that."
"But dear, what about your friends and family?" Delia asked the girl, to which she waved her hands back and forth swiftly in denial.
"I'm sure they'd understand. It's fine, really! I want to go!"
"Well then, we'll just get you two some tickets and then it'll be off to Alola with the both of you." Professor Oak decided.
"Misty, sorry about your bike." Ash apologized. "I'll work hard to get you a new one. I just need time. I don't have the money to even get a lemonade, let alone a bike." While Misty rolled her eyes, she replied,
"Fine. Just know I'm holding you up to that promise." Ash nodded as he offered a hand, and she shook on it.
A/N: I have to admit, I had no idea that Misty was going to be involved in this. And, just a fair warning, I didn't grow up watching the original seasons of the anime. I grew up as a Diamond and Pearl fan myself in Middle School. So if it feels like that Misty is missing a few character details, that's because the most I've seen of the original series was up to the end of the Viridian Forest episodes before getting bored and movies 1-3. But hey, maybe we can just say that the Misty I'm writing is a combination of the anime and game versions. This Misty can be ill-tempered and feisty, but only when provoked. Otherwise, pretty chill as a water gym leader should be. We're already going in an AU direction with Ash going back to Pallet instead of Viridian, so why not a Misty with both a level head and a temper? This is an interesting turn.
