A/N: This story used to be called Sasuke Uchiha, but that was only a temporary title until I could think about something better.
A/N 2: Edit 06/04/2021 and posting of all chapters that I've been holding in reserve.
Chapter 00: Trauma
Physical Trauma is beyond a simple cut or bruise. It's more than stubbing your toe or scraping your knee. Physical trauma is a serious injury delivered to the body. It can be blunt force trauma, caused by an object such as a bat impacting the body or the force of gravity when someone falls from a raised platform. Blunt force trauma often causes concussions, bruises, internal bleeding, deep cuts or broken bones. A strong enough blow to the head or chest could even kill someone. Then there was penetrating trauma, which is when an object such as a knife pierces the skin or the body, usually leaving behind an open wound. Physical trauma is painful, physical trauma is deadly.
Psychological or emotional trauma is damage to the mind. Witnessing a distressing event such as the murder of one's family, or being subject to a traumatic experience such as kidnapping and torture, are traumatic events that could lead to overwhelming amounts of stress, reducing the victim's ability to cope and integrate their experienced emotions with what had happened. Some people's minds brake, unable to reconcile the emotions they felt with their life, and they are left forever damaged. Others learn how to deal with that stress, and they carve out a new life. Never healed, but surviving.
Trauma transcends time and space. It clings to the soul, never releasing its grip. The mind may forget, but the soul remembers.
Death is a trauma so great, that the mind forgets, and so when the soul is born again, we are unaware of the life we used to live. But there are a few, who in their new life experience such trauma that their mind cries out for help, unable to cope. And the soul answers, reminding them of the scars that marked their life before. And sometimes, this is enough for them to survive.
