As a quick introduction: My name is Mari, I go by WhoopdiWhoop. I'm from Massachusettes and I'm obsessed with dramatic romance. I am a completely hopeless romantic and I just really enjoy sharing my writing with you guys. Thanks so much for reading.

Ladybug dropped down gracefully from the fire escape on a sunkissed Parisian building where her partner, Chat Noir was waiting for her.

"Another akumatized victim saved," Ladybug smiled, dusting her hands proudly. "Good job."

"Couldn't have done it without you, milady," Chat Noir replied, staring at her adoringly. He brushed his blonde hair out of his eyes smoothly.

He grinned, and held up his fist for Ladybug to bump with her own.

"Pound it," they said in unison.

Ladybug couldn't help but smile. Their little traditions were happy moments she could always count on.

Ladybug gazed lovingly over Paris, watching dusk take over her beloved city. Saving Paris and it's citizens was rewarding to say the least.

Even though she got tired of the overwhelming pressure of being a perfect hero, she could never grow tired of being Ladybug. Ladybug was one of Paris's most beloved heroes, and she loved how powerful and in control she felt when the pink flash took over her body, and her mask was on.

And Ladybug had views like this. The orangey sun glinted off the Eiffel Tower and the citizens of Paris looked so small.

Her alter ego, Marinette, was clumsy and awkward. She could barely utter a sentence to people she was nervous around. Ladybug was cunning and smooth, and free.

"Quite the view," Chat said from behind her. He walked to stand next to her. "Sunset in Paris is something else."

"Yeah," Ladybug breathed. Then she startled. "Sunset? Shoot. Oh no, I have to go."

Chat Noir nodded with a smile. "Go. See you tomorrow."

"Good luck on patrol tonight!"

Chat dramatically held his hand over his heart, holding a comedically offended expression. "You think I need luck, milady?"

Ladybug giggled. "Forgive me, chaton. Good night."

"Good night," the boy in black responded, watching his love swing down to the cobblestone streets below.

Ladybug jumped off the roof and quickly started running towards her home, the apartment above her family's bakery.

Why did she always have to be late?

She had briefly enjoyed the freedom of this strong hero of Paris taking over her. But she needed to focus, she had plans.

"Tikki, spots off," she cried, and felt the transformation occur, the familiar shiver rushing through her and pink flash surround her.

Marinette hid the red kwami in her pink jacket's pocket, and started to feel out of breath. Running hard after fighting an akumatized villain was tiring. Hawk Moth really didn't understand the stress of the modern teenage superhero.

Still, she forced herself to sprint down the cobblestone streets as the orangey tint slowly faded away.

"Oh no, I'm going to be late," she muttered to herself as she looked behind her at the sun setting quickly.

She was supposed to meet him at sunset!

Suddenly, she crashed into a hard mass, an "oof," coming from the boy on the ground.

"I'm so sorry," Marinette cried, reaching to help him up. "Luka!"

The blue haired boy chuckled and stood. "Hey, Mari."

She smiled at him and reached up to rub some dirt off of his cheek with her thumb. He grinned.

"I'm sorry I'm late, I had a crazy day-"

"You don't need to worry," Luka assured her. "It's totally fine."

"I'm sorry anyway-"

"You don't always have to be perfect, you know." He said as he gazed down at her fondly.

Marinette smiled at him gratefully. "Well, thank you for inviting me tonight."

Luka's cheeks flushed. "To be honest, I've meant to ask you to hang out for a while now."

"Really?" Marinette couldn't have been more surprised. Luka was older than her, in a popular band and the son of a hugely popular rock star. He was interested in her?

The girl who tripped over nothing on a daily basis?

"Yeah. I was really glad you said yes."

"I'm glad too. Paris at night is beautiful. A walk was a wonderful idea."

"I thought you might like it. You have a wonderful sense of appreciation of little things."

Marinette smiled, looking up at the darkening sky, which was beginning to show the hint of stars. "Well, this is amazing."

She glanced at Luka, who was gazing at her. She giggled. "What?"

"You're… you're just really beautiful."

Marinette was sure she was as bright red as a tomato. Beautiful… No one called her that except for Ayla and her parents.

But now that she thought about it… compliments, a romantic setting, all this staring… Was this a date?

And if it was, was she okay with that?

She adored Luka, but she just couldn't seem to shake her love for Adrien Agreste.

Freaking Adrien.

God, would he ever love her back?

After years of loving him, he had shown no signs of reciprocation ,but she couldn't stop her heart from trying to follow her classmate, the literal model.

Adrien would always be in her heart.

Even after countless attempts to get over him, she simply couldn't stop loving him.

Which meant that it wouldn't be right to do that to Luka.

"Luka… I…" She couldn't get the words out.

Marinette hated addressing people she knew she was letting down. Tikki had given her countless lectures about running from her problems, but she just couldn't seem to get the words out.

But Luka was leaning in with his eyes closed, and lips moving closer and closer to hers.

Oh, god.

Chat Noir bounced from roof to roof, content with the safety of Paris. Today had been a good day for him. He had gotten to spend time with his love, Ladybug.

She was slowly becoming more accustomed to his flirting.

He hoped that soon she would see him as more than just a partner, a friend. Sure, it had been years of trying to convince her to love him, but he couldn't help but dream.

He smiled as he imagined it. Kissing his lady. Holding her hand. Being hers, overall. And Ladybug being his.

He grinned wide and looked up at the bright moon. It was almost full and cast a soft light over the city. The moon always reminded him of his lady.

He looked down and his smile immediately dropped. Two people, leaning in for a kiss. There seemed to be nothing wrong.

The only problem, was the people.

Was that Marinette? Marinette Dupain Cheng?

She tilted her head, and he saw Marinette's trademark dark blue pigtails tied with a red tie.

She was on a date. Huh.

His chest tightened, and he tried to shove the feelings away. She wasn't his, he knew that. She had told his alter ego, Adrien Agreste, about being in love with someone else.

She had even opened up to Chat Noir about it, during some of the long talks they had on her balcony late at night.

But still. He didn't feel good about Marinette and someone else.

Chat Noir glared at who he had now decifiered to be Luka Couffaine, who was going in for a kiss. With Marinette!

Chat Noir allowed a small hiss to escape him.

Marinette couldn't be with Luka. That wasn't right. He couldn't put into exact words why, but he could identify emotion that was pinching at his heart. Jealousy.

And he knew why.

Chat Noir's civilian identity, Adrien, was friends with Marinette. She had been one of his first friends.

And in the last few months, he had developed a crush on her.

He had tried to push it down as much as possible, tried to be just her friend and nothing more, because he had always felt like he was betraying his beloved Ladybug.

But Adrien just couldn't keep his eyes off of Marinette.

She was nervous around him, that much was obvious, but she was sweet, caring and talented. She was gorgeous, too.

Bluebell eyes, dark blue hair, pink lips and fair skin painted with freckles.

Who wouldn't notice her?

She didn't like him back though. Besides, their friendship was much too important to Adrien.

She was his first real friend. His first companion after being alone in a cold empty house for so, so long. After so many years only seeing tutors, his father, Nathalie and the children of other high class business people.

Nino and Alya were great friends, but Marinette just got him in a way that no one else did.

But now, she was out at night with Luka. And Adrien was too late.

Adrien knew they were friends, he had seen them once or twice laughing together, getting ice cream. But he had never suspected it was something more.

It seemed he should have.

He crouched, not letting his position on the rooftop known as he watched the two teenagers about to kiss, narrowing his eyes.

As Luka and Marinette's lips were just inches from touching, Marinette jumped back.

Chat Noir leaned in, surprised, and relieved. He unclenched the fist he didn't realize he was holding.

"I'm sorry," he heard Marinette saying to Luka. Thank god for cat hearing. "I'm not ready for this right now… I hope you understand."

Chat Noir smirked to himself. So much for that, Couffaine.

He stood, ready to continue his patrol of Paris when suddenly Luka took Marinette's hand.

"Of course," he heard the boy say. "You're worth waiting for."

Adrien felt his heart tighten and his ears heat, turning quickly. He couldn't be jealous. It wasn't fair. He had never made his feelings known for Marinette.

Marinette blushed fiercely, and smiled at him, leaning into him.

And Adrien started to question everything. Had he been wrong to call Marinette nothing more than a friend? Was he too late now?

It didn't matter, he decided.

He couldn't be with Marinette anyway, he loved Ladybug too much. Still, it didn't make it much better to see his crush holding hands with the boy who had just tried to kiss her.

He scowled, and turned, using his baton to jump to another roof to clear his head.

He missed the way Marinette frowned at the silhouette of Chat Noir leaping away from her.

The next day at school, Alya and Marinette were whispering furiously from across the room where Adrien was seated.

Marinette was blushing furiously and Alya seemed shocked. Adrien wasn't surprised. Marinette never kept secrets from her best friend.

"A kiss?" The chatty auburn haired girl exclaimed just a little too loud.

The entire class turned to face the two friends.

Marinette turned red and elbowed her friend in the arm. "Shhhh," she hissed at Alya.

Adrien couldn't take much more of this. He needed to know more. Curiosity always seemed to kill the cat.

He crossed the room to Marinette and Alya. "Hey, Alya. Marinette."

Alya smiled. "Morning, Adrien. What's up?"

He shrugged, keeping his eyes on Marinette, who was staring intently at the pencil on her desk, her face redder than ever. "Not much. What about you guys? Have a good night?"

Alya nodded. "I got to hang out with Nino. That was fun. We watched that new documentary about that fox the turtle becoming best friends."

"I'm dying to see that," Marinette gushed, finally looking up. "How was it?"

"So cute," Alya replied, smiling. "How was your night, Marinette?"

Marinette flushed. "It was… good. Pretty uneventful."

Alya failed to suppress a snicker.

Adrien raised an eyebrow. "That so?"

Marinette got even redder.

"Yep. Crazy how many akuma attacks there have been though, huh?"

"Yeah." Adrien felt the jealousy running through his veins. Why hadn't she mentioned the almost kiss to him? Weren't they close enough friends?

Didn't she trust him?

Marinette looked down, her eyes becoming red and beginning to fill with tears. Adrien couldn't push. It wasn't fair to her and she was already upset.

"How was your night," Alya asked.

"Uh, good," Adrien replied. "Piano lessons, Chinese lessons, the whole shabang. Boring, to be honest."

"I don't know how you do it. I would just fall asleep immediately."

Adrien laughed. "I kind of have to do them. Not much choice in the matter."

Marinette glanced up at him, a sad expression cast on her face. Adrien kept eye contact with her, locking their gazes.

She had always understood how trapped he felt in his house, with his distant father, deceased mother and cold assistant who seemed to care more about Adrien's schedule than Adrien himself.

She stared into his green eyes, and tilted her lips up a little bit.

A moment?

"Oh, Adrikins!" A high pitched whine came from behind the trio. "Will you help me carry my bags?"

Adrien rolled his eyes. He turned to find Chloe Bourgeois, the brat of the school.

"Not now, Chloe," Adrien replied tightly, turning to find the blonde pouting angrily.

"But Adriennn," she whined. "You're so strong, and Daddy says I should handle my bags on my own."

Of course, the inevitable mention of her powerful father. Adrien rolled his eyes, turned to give a helpless glance to Marinette and Alya and helped Chloe carry her very light bags.

He turned his head quickly to see Marinette staring sadly at him.
