Vanellope's life, in her eyes, was perfect. Not only did she rule a city and live in a big castle with her best friend Ralph, she had a family of her own, didn't have to worry much about running a city, and best of all, she could race in any game she wanted. And boy did she love to go racing.
Things have been this way for her since she and Ralph founded Litwak city back in late 2020, and life couldn't be better. With the help of mayors around the city neighborhoods, running the city and fixing everyone's problems was a breeze. Thanks to the coding of World designer, for those who don't know is the game the city is located, Vanellope and all the old sugar rush racers were able to glitch from children to adults at will, which had advantages.
Living in world designer wasn't perfect, of course there were setbacks, from game villains such as the Decepticons from the transformers games, the Galactic Empire which had its differences with the city, even to something as a my little pony to vanellopes surprise could be ruthless and dangerous. Despite these setbacks, living in world designer was paradise to Vanellope simply because it was unpredictable.
Our story begins one sunny august day in 2030. Vanellope and her slaughter race friend, Shank, entered tappers for drinks after doing some racing in another game. For Vanellope, she was glad things seemed to be going back to normal in the game. A month ago her kids were made co rulers of the city, and the Galactic Empire was on better terms with the city and her daughter. Peace finally seemed to be here at last.
"First rounds on me" said Shank
"Alright, now we're talking" said Vanellope
The 2 sat at some bar stools and got some root beers.
"Good racing today V, you always seem to have a new trick up your sleeve" said Shank
"What can I say, racings in my code. Beats sitting around dealing with politics and stuff all day" said Vanellope
"You sure you're ready for Lucy and Kevin to be running things? Have you not forgotten about the empire? What about that rebellion on Equest-
"First off, those candy colored horses struck first. Second, a little history lesson, the empire lost the war with my daughter, and she chose to let them keep existing. I have faith in my kids making their own decisions, whether it be with the empire, or with someone as simple as a farmer" said Vanellope as she sipped her drink
"I still don't understand why you let Lucy bring in those droids, a lot of people hate them, you know. I'm indifferent to them but-
"I let her keep them because she believed there's good in them, plus all her life people hated her. Maybe a droid army is the first step to getting people loyal to her. I believe everyone has a chance at being good, even a machine. We saw that with the Decepticons last summer. Speaking of the empire, my daughter should be having a meeting with them soon, discussing the scrapping going on on Equestria. Could bring jobs or something" said Vanellope
"You gonna be there for her?" Shank asked
"Bill can take care of things" said Vanellope
"The traitor? I can't believe you didn't just banish him from the game after what he did to you" said Shank
"It's fun watching him have to be forced to serve my family. He's not all bad. After I say he can go, he can spend all his time in imperial space for all I care" said Vanellope
Vanellope and shank talked for a bit for Vanellope got up to leave.
"I'd love to talk more but I got a meeting with our resident queen bee. She requested my presence for something" said Vanellope
"She did? That's unlike her" said Shank
"Well, can't keep her waiting. See you later Shank" said Vanellope
Vanellope got in her car and drove a little bit before reaching a house a few blocks from the castle, the home of Honey Potts, or Shaw as she was referred to now, the games resident Queen Bee, a nickname she earned saving the population from a bee like virus a year ago.
Honey greeted Vanellope and let her inside her home for some tea which Vanellope politely declined. Honey was a few months pregnant but still moved at a decent rate.
"I must say I'm surprised you wanted to see me alone. Normally being Rancis' friend you'd talk to him and he'd tell me things" said Vanellope
"Normally yes, but after my daughters sleepover with your kids the other day I got to thinking about things. Vanellope, how close are you with the twins?" Honey asked
"I'm really close to them, we have a special bond. What are you asking this for?" Vanellope asked confused
"You're close? How close? I know you have a tendency to go off racing whenever you feel like" said Honey
"So me going racing is bad? That's like me telling you to stop flying. I know my family kind of did that but that's only temporary" said Vanellope
"During my daughters sleepover, I overheard your kids say you're not around often, they don't see you most of the day. And if anything, they wish I was their mom sometimes" said Honey
"What? That's crazy, they'd never say that. You're lying, you're messing with me" said Vanellope as she started to get annoyed
"I wish this was a joke, but it's true, your kids wish I was their mom" said Honey
Vanellope tried to attack honey out of anger, but honey grabbed Vanellope with little effort and threw her to the floor
"Trying to attack me won't work, I've seen much worse than you can imagine" said Honey
"You're not the kids mom, and you shouldn't try to be" said Vanellope
Vanellope tried to rip off a pearl necklace Honey wore, but it wouldn't snap. Honey responded by knocking her into a chair.
"Doing that won't work, your daughter made my pearls indestructible, got tired of people breaking them. And I'm not trying to be their mom, but I think you should be around them more, get to know them. They're growing up you know" said Honey
"They're 8, they're still kids" said Vanellope "Now hold still so I can-
"Vanellope, I may be pregnant but I can still beat you in a fight" said Honey
"Please, I have friends from one of the internets former toughest game, and they taught me-
Honey punched Vanellope straight in the face before she could finish. Vanellope in response spit a tooth out of her mouth.
"Still think I'm a weak girl?" Honey asked
"Ok you've proven you're tough. But my kids love me. And there's nothing wrong with my hobby. My kids know that if they need me they can-
A loud explosion was suddenly heard outside. The 2 rushed outside to see a building next to the castle on fire. Many citizens designated the building as a knockoff Disney ride as it was shaped as space mountain from the Disney parks. Vanellope knew it as Lucy 2, her daughters castle. The castle was engulfed in flames and collapsing.
Vanellope and Honey rushed as fast as they could to the castle, where firefighters and battle droids were rushing to put out the fire, trying to keep it from spreading to Vanellope and Ralph's castle. Vanellope was horrified.
"What happened? Where are my kids?" Vanellope asked
"Your majesty, we're doing everything we can to find them. The cause of the explosion is being investigated" a fireman told her
As Vanellope paced around the scene, she saw her former aide, sour bill, dragging an unconscious Kevin and Lucy out of the burning building. She immediately ran to them.
"They're alive, but gravely injured" Bill told her "I may not like that you forced me to serve them, but I'm not ready to watch them die, not like this"
Both kids were burnt, barely breathing, their clothes torn and shredded. Paramedics immediately rushed to their aid as Bill explained what he knew.
"The droids were disarming the castle of proton bombs from the war, a pony came in and detonated one of the bombs, said something about Lucy needing to die for her crimes against her species. I found them in the conference room on my way out, I couldn't leave them"
Vanellope watched as her kids were loaded into an ambulance to be transported to the hospital, tears in her eyes. Her thoughts began racing around her head, she thought of honeys words. She hadn't been around for her kids in some time, hasn't had the chance to truly bond with them, now they were gravely injured. Sure they'd regenerate if they died, but that didn't ease her thoughts at all. She rushed to the ambulance, wanting to be with her kids. They had masks on their faces helping them breathe, keeping them alive. They could barely keep their eyes open.
"It's ok, mommy's here. You're going to be ok" Vanellope assured them
