AN: This is something I wrote around the time Selene was introduced, So I'm placing it here on fanfiction; I don't have many plans unless people like this; again, feel free to give me your thoughts.
If I upload a chapter 2 or more, then that means I got the drive to do so; I've been reading a crossover story called Not Yet by Black Infinity 1289, and so my drive to do something Fairy Tail-Esque kicked in.
Start
The Sun and the Moon.
They don't quite mix, but they have one thing in common.
They keep a planet thriving. That's a fact. The sun gives plants life, while the Moon gives the planet a stable flow on its axis and a steady rhythm to the tides, which helped humans quite a lot.
Earthland was no exception to this.
Dragons have prided themselves in their elements, looking down on those lesser than them. They believed themselves to be on top of the food chain. Which could be backed up with how much land they mediated.
One dragon in particular, however, completely ignores such blasphemous claims. He still held pride as a dragon, but he had no opinions on who was truly the apex.
A human could poison him and thus kill him, making them the apex for all he knew. However, that was a 1% chance, of course.
He was Helios the Sun Dragon! He was a cut above the rest with his rare affinity to moderate the sun. He was young sure, but he was no pushover. He even garnered respect from the great Fire Dragon King, Igneel. One who also believes that humans are strong and formidable in their own right.
Helios also knew transformation magic; he would usually be seen in his human form. He was of a dark complexion, possessing fiery gold-colored hair cut into a buzz cut style. His eyes were orange, completely matching the fire of the sun.
He wore black hakama pants with a gold-colored scale sash. His upper body was exposed, showing off his lean and fit body. On his wrist were golden guardian arm cuffs.
"The moon looks a bit lovely today," Helios shimmered in the light of the Moon. It was extremely calming to look at. He liked the night.
"I figured I'd catch you here. Sun Dragon," Helios clicked his teeth and looked to his right. A large dragon approached him.
The body was sleek, with a moonlit white complexion. The build suggested it was a female. The dragon had fur from the neck to the beginning of the back area. On the back of the arms was black fur popping out.
"What type of dragon are you? I've never seen one as...radiant," Helios complimented as he took in more of the prominent female dragon's figure.
Wait, did she say again? That was quite stalker-ish.
"Hm. That's for you to find out eventually; however, my name is Selene," Helios blinked as the dragon in front of him seemed to possess transformation magic.
Selene takes on the appearance of a voluptuous and curvy woman with her long blonde hair extending to her hips. For attire, Selene dons a loose kimono with fur lining on the top while also having flower designs all over it and zigzag lines on its edges. The back of her kimono has another layer of cloth with no intricate designs. Her head is covered by a hood adorned with an upward crescent moon with a gem on top as well as a pair of wings on each side. She also has a pair of socks while wearing wooden sandals.
Helios choked a bit as the Moon seemed to glow even more, much brighter than the raging sun.
"Have you not heard of what's happening, Sun Dragon?" Helios blinked yet again before shaking his head negatively.
"The human gone dragon, Acnologia, has killed almost every dragon here on this continent; I'm surprised he's not on this site yet," Selene voiced in worry.
"I have not; I suppose that's why I haven't heard from old man Igneel in a long time," Helios said as he placed a hand on his chin.
"I'm planning on fleeing to another continent, but before I could, I stood there watching you see if you had the same idea. But, unfortunately, it seems you did not," Selene voiced, quite disappointed.
"Well, when you keep to yourself, you don't hear about such things. So Acnologia, huh. Seems like a strong foe. I'd like to fight him."
Selene gave a deadpan expression. She didn't expect the man to say that no. But then she realized.
This was a dragon of a rare affinity.
Like her, Moon Dragons are a rare breed and Sun Dragons. How they're born is still a mystery. But one thing for certain, she was not letting this fool die.
Yes, a complete and utter fool, like most male dragons.
Selene did enjoy toying with men, it gave her a bit of excitement in her dull life, but she never once cared about them. But Helios seemed to pull her in, like the ocean tides trying to reach for the safe confines of the Moon.
"You're a fool," Was all Selene could muster.
"I know I am. I once burnt a lake because one of those damn spiders decided to jump in with me."
"I'm not even gonna bother."
"Sit down and enjoy the moon that you moderate, Selene," Helios pulled a bottle of water out of a portal and gestured for his counterpart to sit.
Which she obliged.
"Water? Really?"
"What did you expect? Sake?"
"I did. You're unique," Selene took out an O-Choko. It was a rather flat cylindrical vessel.
"And you're fancy with the O-Choko," Helios rebuked playfully as he poured the water into the vessel.
"So Sun Dragon-"
"Helios."
"Well met, I suppose," Selene replied dryly.
"Heh, you're well mannered; I can't relate, however," Helios chugged on the large container that held rich-looking water.
Selene was rather amused at how the water was. She thought it was just simple water; however, she felt her energy replenish from a single sip!
"What is this water?" Selene asked curiously as the two dragons in human form basked in the elegance of the Moon.
"This fine water comes from a place I discovered, far from any human reach."
"That makes sense; humans sure know how to contaminate beauty," Selene chuckled as she finished her drink.
"Yeah, but I never undermine them; they can grow strong; this Acnologia is proof. However, I've been hearing about a queen of dragons...Irene Belserion. I'd like to fight her."
"Ho? Is fighting all you can register in your brain?"
"I'm the Sun Dragon; it's my job to show off my ostentatious spirit," Helios said with confidence as he stood back up.
"You're certainly pretentious; however, you entertained me. For that, I shall indulge you."
"So, where are you heading to?" Helios asked, changing the subject.
"To Guiltina. I should be safe there; however, I happen to know how to travel across dimensions," Helios looked at the Moon with widened eyes.
"It seems your spatial magic is much better than mine; I can only store stuff into my treasury."
"Of course, mine is better, fool. But, unfortunately, you lack brain cells on how to expand your magic arsenal," Selene berated harshly, yet Helios was unfazed by it and shrugged.
"Yeah, I suppose. Anyway, I can't do much at night; my powers are halved, I can't even transform into a dragon, think I can fly on your back?" Helios could've sworn he felt his death approach the moment he finished.
"Ha! You're lucky that you're such a good source of entertainment, come. Let us depart before Acnologia can reach us."
X774
A boy around the age of 14 walked down a dirt path; his face was a dark, smooth round, his hair was a metallic gray in a high ponytail, but when to let loose, it was shoulder length; on the sides, his hair was trimmed. His choice of clothing was that of a pair of baggy black pants tucked inside his red boots that had three straps on them. On his arms were bandaged wraps that reached up to his shoulder, and with no shirt on, his upper body was exposed for all to see; he had a few growing abs.
The gray-haired kid began to smile as he walked out of the small woods; a small town was ahead of him, "I've been traveling for the last day; this is the place of the request."
The kid surveyed the town with a steely gaze; he didn't want to walk into a trap carelessly. He was in a new town, meaning new enemies on the horizon. Maybe he was being paranoid? But it was always good to have some sort of weariness.
"Hey! I'm here for the giant Wyvern extermination," The boy called out, with his voice echoing.
Nothing answered him, getting him to confirm his suspicions.
"I'm not late; Wyverns don't just keep moving from one town to another," The boy held a hand to his chin as he began to think. Then, his ears began to twitch, which caused his head to snap quickly to the left.
The boy saw scratch marks carved on the wooden buildings; it seems the Wyverns were marking this town as their home. Of course, they usually do it in the mountains, but this wasn't surprising to him.
This boy's name was Dharak; He was an independent mage and a Dragon Slayer; having learned his magic from a Dragon, he said a dragon would like his name to be classified. Dharak prided himself in his abilities, and he hoped to meet up to his Father's expectations. Dharak wasn't the only Dragon Slayer; he knew that. But, he wanted to fight all of them, to prove he was the strongest one.
Dharak was sure he would be able to handle them all.
"If these Wyverns won't come out, then I'll force them," Dharak clapped his hands, causing a loud sound to erupt.
Dharak's hair began to lash out wildly as the winds began to pick up. Then, finally, Dharak's nose began to move; a putrid smell crept its way inside, causing the young boy to snarl.
Dharak flipped, avoiding getting chewed on by a flying dragon-like beast. Dharak punched the spine of the Wyvern with his left fist; an audible crunch sound could be heard, earning a shriek of pain from the Wyvern.
"Oh, shut your mouth!" Dharak bared his sharp teeth and ran up to the neck of the Wyvern. The draconic beasts kept frailing about, hoping to throw Dharak off of its body, but the boy threw his head down, slicing through the skin. The young dragon slayer threw his head back, in his mouth the flesh of the Wyvern; Dharak began to chew before swallowing it.
The Wyvern fell onto the ground, its ash-gray skin began to erode, as if it was melting, "I was expecting something more; but at least you don't taste bad, maybe with a dash of salt, you would've been rated higher."
Dharak sighed as he was beginning to feel his energy flare up again, he wasn't at full power as he would be, but he was just strong enough to handle a few more Wyverns before he would have to refuel again.
Dharak glazed over the decaying body and kicked it; Dharak's brows were close to each other, and his lips formed a frown.
Dharak's magic was Decay or Rot; however, you want to go about it. His Father was known as the Necrosis Dragon; A Dragon of death. It wasn't easy to learn such a thing because Dharak was given a few choices. He was given the choice of eating his Father, which he quickly denied, Insert a Lacrima, which Dharak did, or just train. Dharak was known as a Third Generation Dragon Slayer.
However, Dharak learned that if he could find a Dragon and eat them, he'd be classed as a Fifth Generation Slayer, and here on Guiltina, they were called Dragon Eaters. Unfortunately, Dharak has only met one of them, named Kyria, who ate the Blade Dragon, Galatine. Although their first encounter was rocky, Kyria wanted to eat him! The crazy look she had was psychotic, and a single roundhouse kick almost beheaded him.
Dharak was able to escape that battle, which kind of ticked him off, he wasn't able to defeat her just yet, but soon he will.
"Oh! Thank you! Young one," Dharak turned around and saw the people of the town start to flood in; from underground.
"Oh, you guys were underground? That's..smart."
"Yes, it's a safety precaution' Oh! Where are my manners? I'm Mayor Goodbell! Once again, thank you for handling that foul beast!" Mayor Goodbell was a man of short stature, reaching 5'4; Dharak was a good 5'7. Goodbell wore a black dress shirt under a black coat, black pants, and black dress shoes.
Was he a butler?
"It's no problem, although I suggest leaving a sign; I almost had a heart attack! I thought I was late!" Dharak suggested in a mellow tone.
"Right…sorry; I must ask, are you from the Dragon Eater Guild?" Dharak cocked an eyebrow, as he hadn't ever heard of that guild.
"No, to be honest, this is a first for me; Are they new?"
"I wouldn't say new, but one man…very scary looking; He had multiple scars and more; He said something about quenching his thirst for Dragon Meat," Goodbell explained, not seeing the array of emotions flaring from Dharak's face.
"I see…He doesn't sound nice, but no fear; I'm a solo mage, I'm currently heading towards Ishgar, I'm also in search of other Dragon Slayers," Dharak half lied. He wanted to eat a Dragon himself; It was the last part of his training; his Father was strict when it came to training, and Dharak didn't want to let his Father down.
"I see, I heard of Ishgar; they're quite a peaceful region, more so than here."
"Why'd you say that?"
"With the Dragon Eaters becoming more open, and other things; It's hard trying to find peace here," Goodbell answered with a downcast gaze. Dharak noticed everyone else had the same mournful looks and gritted his teeth.
"So this Dragon Eater guild is bad for business? And with the abundance of Wyverns, the ecosystems are changing. Listen; tell you what," Dharak managed to pull everyone's attention to him. "When I complete my training, I'll come back here; and open up my guild, one where you guys can be safe, feel safe and live safe."
Goodbell couldn't believe what he was hearing; some random boy would do all that for them? It seemed too good to be true, but Goodbell felt no ulterior motives, no cunning act, nothing pointing towards the negative.
"Okay, I accept!"
"My name is Dharak!"
"No last name?" Dharak shook his head.
"Then, how about, Dharak Goodbell! It has a good ring to it," Dharak smiled and put his hand out; The Mayor took Dharak's hand into his own and shook it.
"I'll send letters and other things to help fortify the town, in the meantime; come up with a name!" Dharak walked off, waving his hand as a goodbye to the townsfolk.
"Hm, How about Regenosis Town?" The Mayor suggested to one of his advisors, who nodded, "Good! Let us get to work!"
X774 August 10th
Dharak was walking with a bit of energy to him; his face seemed to glow, showing off his happy demeanor.
"I think I did good work today; I wonder if Dad would be happy about it," Dharak was already about 3 hours away from the town; he was fishing for something to eat, with his rod hovering over the small pond in front of him.
Dharak's ears began to twitch; this only ever happened when danger was coming his way; this caused the young Dragon Slayer to duck his hand; thankfully, he was fast enough to do so.
"Ha! You're a strong brat; I can feel that surge of power being carefully covered by some lid within you!" A brash and arrogant voice spoke. Dharak's ears twitched repeatedly; something was telling him to leave, he was not much for the mystery person walking out of the clearing.
Three people walked out; two were quite young, one had crimson-colored red hair or a bit of vermillion red, the other was the one Dharak didn't wish to see right now–Kyria
Dharak seemed to groan in displeasure, "Who the fuck are you?"
"Hmph, It seems you also don't know your place; you're a Dragon Slayer, meaning you're my next meal!" The bold voice appeared fully, showing off his scared-lit face. The burly man had multiple scars across his body and face, strikingly pointed hair, sharp teeth, and dark indentations around his eyes. His clothing consists of a coat with a large, shell-like armor completing it with bracelets around his arms.
"I'm going to assume you're the master of that Dragon Eater Guild? You look ugly in person; have you ever thought of healing those scars?"
"Suzaku, handle this brat," The unruly-looking man said.
The maroon-haired kid named Suzaku merely nodded upon the command. He is dressed in a red kimono with bird wings designed on the sleeves and tail feathers on the bottom. Suzaku also wears feather earrings.
Dharak had a feeling the boy around his age, maybe younger, didn't wish to fight him; maybe he was being manipulated to do so? This only caused Dharak to snarl.
"Have at you!" Suzaku called out, which got Dharak to furrow his brow in curiosity.
"Right!" Dharak watched as Suzaku drew his Katana from its holster, which caused Dharak to put up his defenses. Suzaku went for a vertical slash but was intercepted by Dharak slapping it in another direction.
This action caused Suzaku to widen his eyes, only to feel a pain in his gut. Dharak had landed the first blow, and it was painful; this caused Suzaku to slide back. Dharak didn't let up his assault, throwing in a few punches; however, Suzaku parried each attack before landing one near Dharak's nose, drawing blood. The grin on the large man's face was one of giddiness, while Kyria could only blink in awe.
Kyria knew Dharak was strong, as she tried to fight him before, but he was keeping up with Suzaku, someone who outclassed her. Sure it hurt her pride to say so, but that's how the pecking order was. Their leader was the strongest; to him, she was an ant.
"That hurts!" Dharak placed a finger to the bleeding gash on his nose, which would leave a scar behind for sure.
"You're strong, but thee holds back; why?" Suzaku questioned; Dharak wasn't going to question how the kid spoke.
"Because I'm not supposed to go all out on someone who's also holding back, I don't wanna fight you, but the big guy behind you. If he's strong, then he'd have to fight for his next meal…that sounds creepy now that I said it."
"Ha! Do you think you're worth the trouble of me fighting? You're not a Dragon God; I don't have to waste the effort," The man walked past Suzaku as he stared down Dharak, who returned the staring contest with a gaze.
Dharak felt the immense power within the man in front of him; it was on a different level; and Dragon God? His Father did say they existed, but Dharak always thought they were a myth, "HA!"
Dharak jumped into the air, hoping to land a blow on the hulking man before him, but the man brought his hand up and slapped Dharak into a tree.
"Fool!" The man said as he began to walk towards Dharak; his arm began to erode unknown to him.
"Kyria."
"What?"
"That boy, he is stronger than I," Suzaku admitted to the young girl, which caused her to widen her eyes.
"You're lying!"
"Nay, You know that I despise lying."
"WHAT!" Suzaku and Kyria both looked towards their guild master, and both of their jaws dropped.
"Heh, You should've waited a bit; my Magic is Decay Dragon Slayer Magic," Dharak explained, with his grin; his teeth were sharper than before, and the bandages on his arms were gone, showing black scales with a black undertone. In addition, Dharak's arms changed, showing pointed claws, his torso also became scaly.
"Hmph, Interesting; maybe you're not worth killing, but as of now, you're not stronger than me. I'll wait until you're ripe enough, then I'll savor your flesh," The bulky man turned around and left.
Dharak stared at the man's retreating figure and couldn't help but release a roar of frustration.
"Aye, you're strong."
"Suzaku, shouldn't we go?" Kyria asked, but Suzaku shook his head.
"What do you want? Your leader is leaving," Dharak's form began to return to normal, except his right arm, which he had to cover in bandages, which then returned to a human-looking arm.
"Yes, he is, which is exactly why we're leaving now!" Kyria tried to push Suzaku, but the sword using slayer didn't budge, only staring at Dharak.
"His name is Georg Reizen; Thy is the reason I have Dragon Slayer Magic," Suzaku began to explain.
"So, you ate a dragon?" Dharak received his answer with a nod, "You're strong, I have a goal of defeating every Dragon Slayer in the world; that Georg guy, he was holding back, he didn't even use magic, I'm going to get stronger then come back, and defeat your whole guild!" Dharak proclaimed, which got Kyria to shrink under Dharak's determined glare.
Suzaku seemed to smile, however.
"Then thee is my rival, yes?"
"Aye!" Dharak quickly replied, "Hey, wait, I got your damn voice line!"
End
AN: That's all for now; if you want to know how to say Dharak, it's Dar-Rack.
I have plans for a single arc; Fairy Tail won't be in here much, as well; they're the main group; I wanted to explore other ideas, and I concluded that doing something based on Guiltina would suffice. I left out things regarding Dharak's Dragon Father for plot reasons, and his magic is pretty straightforward. I got the idea from Baraggan from Bleach, so I'm looking forward to doing some stuff to utilize Decay Magic in this story.
As you guys saw, I'm not going with some godlike OC or anything; my last attempt went terrible, so I'm doubling down on that, Dharak is young and pretty reckless, as shown when he tried to attack Georg without a plan, so in the coming chapters, we will see his growth.
But that's if people would like to see this continue. And yes, for simplicity's sake, this is an AU, so that Dragons will be roaming around. Acnologia will make an appearance soon; you guys will be in for quite a shock for what I got in store for him.
Last note, I'm going for an OC x Selene, Kyria, Irene, and Ultear pairing. I won't go any further than that. Mashima has made too many well-written women in this series that it's hard to pick one to write for.
Dharak will be a big brother figure to Wendy cause she'll appear very soon; that's just a heads up.
With that all said, take care and stay healthy!
